About this video: On October 14, 2024, a new locomotive leasing company called Rolling Stock Solutions debuted their first locomotive at Boston’s South Station as a part of the “2024 Commuter Rail Coalition Summit” event on the MBTA Commuter Rail. The locomotive in question is RSTX 1001, an ex-Amtrak F40PH, now classified as an F40PH-4C. Just passed 8:00 AM on October 14, an MBTA south side yard crew operating MBTA GP40MC-3 1129 and F40PH-3C 1033 reversed down track 13 at south station with RSTX 1001 at the head end of the shove. The crew positioned the 1001 near the end of the platform before disconnecting their locomotives and continuing south to Middleboro, MA to operate on a dinner train special later in the day to conclude the Commuter Rail Coalition Summit - my next post after this one is made up of some videos that I managed to get of that train. Before the 1001 officially went on display, myself and a few friends got a few shots around and inside of it thanks to the kind folks with Rolling Stock Solutions who let us observe while they set things up.
