  • MBTA F40PH-3C 1055 emerges rebuilt after spending nearly 3 years at the Wabtec plant in Erie, PA. This unit is slightly different in appearance as it looks like they tried painting it and were interrupted somehow. Not to many left before the contract rebuild on the nearly 40 year old units is complete!

    5 more F40PH-3Cs left for testing, which is 1030, 1036, 1059, 1071, and 1072! 1027 and 1055 already testing until delivery.

      They are trying to get one done every month. That way they will have them done by 2026.

    That bent handrail is bringing back memories of something similar on an E-8 I straightened out a number of years ago. It didn't come out perfect and now all this time later I'm thinking of how I would do it differently.

      It’ll never be a good as the original horn that the horn king managed to illegally take off of it with the help of somebody in BET.

    It's great that it was restored!
    Regarding the MBTA company, more precisely about diesel locomotives of the HSP-46 model.
    I'm wondering why no one else other than the MBTA started buying these locomotives?
    I am aware that this series had serious problems with the bearings of the traction motors and turbochargers. But still! It was possible to remove these locomotives for modification and correction of errors and return them back to the customer. And continue to produce them, perhaps other suburban companies would also become interested in them.

    • @stephankoenig5481
      @stephankoenig5481  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      They have their problems but they are already suited for MBTA operations so it was better to have them rebuilt.

    • @TrinityCourtStudios
      @TrinityCourtStudios วันที่ผ่านมา

      You aren’t entirely wrong.
      The T should’ve been electrifying years ago and using diesels for the longer trips and for services in freight-dense territory like the Worcester, Haverhill and Fitchburg lines where electrification ain’t as feasible beyond Framingham, Reading or Littleton/495.
