This movie is a love letter to cinema. Ennio was a genius. Great end, when we were able to make great movies with no money (Mediterraneo by Salvatores too). Cinema at best levels.
" When i call you, a different women always answers. But i never heard in any of their voices that they really loved you....." I can never get away from this film......lost the count how many times i watched it.
@@sha11235 The french medias didn't talk a lot, because actor Michel Bouquet died around the same time. Same with actress Catherine Spaak, french online press wrote few lines, nothing on TV. So international press often doesn't report.
How did a French actor who didn’t grow up in Italy get cast for Italian roles? I don’t really speak Italian so I don’t know how good or bad his accent is.
An epic farewell in this scene that is simultaneously cruel but loving as he loves Toto and wants to free him to live a full life while understanding that any sentimentality shown will do more harm than good. The words, the visuals, the emotion, and the music evoke such a sense of necessary sadness in order to help prepare Toto to embrace his future destiny.
After having watched the theatrical version decades before, I finally watched the director"s cut using a projector that I borrowed from the school I was teaching at!!!! I watched it by myself! The image was around 150 inches wide and the experience was incredibly surreal!!!! By the end of the movie I was sobbing like a little kid!!! There are so many layers and factors that make it so memorable!!!! One of those is the Ennio Morricone musical score!!!! The movie does not have the same effect without this music!!! The music should have gotten an Oscar for sure!!!!!!!!!
This movie is great. It has been 30 years since I first enjoyed this movie. When I was young, only the love story of Elena and Toto was in my mind, but now this scene touches my heart the most.
My God, a fantastic, sensational, poignant film, full of love, laughter, regrets and nostalgia. The heart and soul are upset, attacked by very strong emotions. Fantastic music further increases feelings. NOT TO BE MISSED.
It’s been more than 30 years since I saw this movie for the first time. And I have never seen again another film more powerful or beautiful than this.
The best!!
My all time favorite! Il mio più preferito!
AS WELL
Will play at my funeral.
Agreed. I wii always remember the words spoken by Alfredo. Very powerful message!

Without a doubt one of the greatest films ever made. Anybody who can make it through Cinema Paradiso without shedding a tear is empty inside.
Indeed
I didn’t shed a tear, but I think it’s an amazing movie
A Masterpiece.
I’m pretty much dead inside, but that ending still makes me cry.

Best movie i have ever seen. Rest in peace Jacques Perrin.
Didn't realize he had passed away last year.

Cinema Paradiso made me fall in love with foreign films! I could watch it over and over again and never get sick of it!
“I don’t want to hear you talk anymore. I want to hear talk about you”
Toto and his mum is a powerful scene. Toto went on to become successful in life but the missing piece he felt was he left behind his family.

When this movie came on i didn't want to read. So glad i did. Greatest movie i have ever seen in my lifetime. And the music oh so beautiful
...at least we realize , that this time never will come Back ...
...sayed the Nostalgia !!!
You can see how the people reacted to the demolishing of the old theater. It's like a funeral.
It was a funeral, a funeral of their most beautiful stories, memories
cant watch it any more now...all these films make me sad that i loved...
i dont want to give in to nostalgia
@@cattyelse2372 Nothing wrong with nostalgia.

I haven’t visited here for several years. I still find it powerful and moving. So many have said it was the best movie ever made and I totally agree.
When they blew up the movie theatre, it ripped up my heart the same way. Loved this tearjerker.

A film for the ages. An unequaled portrait of love.
OMG, the best film that I have ever seen.
It was on a whim.
Absolutely beautiful.
The life with my wife before she passed away.
The kissing scenes were so wonderful. ❤
This film is perfect in every way.
One of the movies of my life!

5:56 is heartbreaking, but this is progress; Salvatore served art of cinema served the best he could: in Rome, not in a small town
Ennio's music is a masterpiece
nothing will ever top this masterpiece
Thanks for reminding me of this beautiful movie
I could use 1000 words and would not be enough, an absolute masterpiece, the eternal life enclosed, distilled in a few minutes. Pure emotions.
The music also from Ennio Morricone, the way it is used to convey nostalgia. It is cinema at its finest.
Always cry when i see this
My all time favorite movie...so much love shared....
I have seen thousands of movies and this one is on my top ten list. It is one of the most moving films ever.

A movie that remind me the day i left my country
My family my friends. I cried a lot and im still crying.
still after so many years as moving…😢
Maravillosa pelicula echa con el corazon😢😢😢❤❤❤❤

Quiet mesmerising ❤️

Where was the location of where this film was shot?
If I'm not mistaken, it was in Messina.
