This channel is just the best. As a watch afflicted person, that is, a person who enjoys watches like a moth to a flame, your videos are just wonderful moments that I think capture why we afflicted (us afflicted?) watch nerds got sucked into this in the first place. The jokes are fun, stunning videography, insightful information, and wrist size unknown for some reason. Just want to share some appreciation for what you do. You help all of us damaged people embrace our strange shared interest. Your videos are great. And you're, dare I say it, terrific. Thank you!
you can do this with any chronograph by just stopping the seconds hand wherever you want. sure you have to wait up to a minute to set it, but its functionally identical. i use it freqently to time things and compare against either the hour or minute hand depending on how long something takes. its great for a six hour flight: set the chrono seconds to where the hour hand will be when you land and it basically becomes a progress bar.
Or you could use your phone which is what you actually do. I’m convinced the only time anyone uses a complication is the first time they use it and when showing it off to people who glaze over when you say “look at my watch, it can…”
@@hotsungmany (most?) chronos dont count more than 30 minutes. also, in my daily life, i pretty much only ever need a count down timer, not count up. (i'd rather see time remaining than have to remember how long i need to cook food.) i use the regular chrono for counting up to 30 mins, or for stuff like tea which is only a few mins. everything else i use this trick. its great for when you throw something in the oven and want to know how much time is left without getting up lol.
@@runrin_ Ah I mean I think it's still a neat trick. My chronos like speedmaster does have elapsed hours so I find that easier. Also if you like countdown, I think diver bezels are easier to use but maybe you just love the look of chronos. Cheers!
I'm really excited for your wrist size reveal. PS since there was no watch joke I have a joke for you, what did the papa tomato say when he squished his baby tomato for lagging behind as they were walking down the street? Rattrapante.
Damn man, such a great video! Awesome videography, stunning visuals, really interesting watches, and awesome commentary! You manage to balance the high-horology watch-snob style with an off-beat sense of humour and surprising quips. Honestly, this is one of the best reviews I've watched in at LONG time 💙
Honestly, if money wasn’t a thing… this would be the watch I pick. BUTTT the rose gold blue dial….. insane watch!!! This brand is sooo under rated. The perp calendar watch is also amazing! Thanks for covering this
Great vid. I've wondered how they work. I could see the next evolutionary step in the mechanism incorporate a chime function. So when the watch rattrapantes to the set hand, it causes a chime to chime. That would be cool.
I think this is my favorite watch related video on TH-cam right now, and it's not entirely because of the watch. I felt compelled to do my best keyboard typey words to let you know.
Thank you for a very nice video about a beautiful watch! Some fun facts: 1. Rattrapante comes apparently from italian word "rattrapare" = to catch up 2. You can still find rattrapante (or split seconds) chronographs that are not so expensive, e.g. Omega speedmaster 3540.80. Very unusual look for a speedmaster but a very cool watch with Dubois Dépraz chronograph module. 3. How big is your wrist again because you never mentionned that? 🤣😜 I am looking forward to your next video!
PF is growing to be a fantastic manufacture, the change of logo on the dial was a step in the right direction, the new management did some great things to the brand. In my eyes they need to step it down a bit more with the amount of polished surfaces on their watches. Especially on an integrated bracelet pieces this actually makes them look "cheap". Also the finish on the sides of the bracelet would benefit if it was sharper and "flatter". You can spot that characteristic light fall-off on the end of the links (again - on the SIDE of the bracelet) that I would expect from a SEIKO, not a watch at this pricepoint. The transition from the crisp and sharply finished lugs to the "meh" bracelet sides pokes me in the eyes :)
To me, this complication would be more useful than gmt or even a chronograph. However there’s quite a bit of play in the ratrappante hand (in both directions) when the minute hand was being adjusted @4:58
My one irk with this complication is the minute hands stuttering when moving the pushers or when changing the time (visible when he moves the minutes hand back and forth). Otherwise love the novel complication
I absolutely adore these kind of high horology time pieces. But unfortunately, they just don’t fit me. Love them, but just doesn’t feel right on my wrist, can’t help myself. The watch of my heart is a Tudor Pelagos 39. Wear it everyday and love it to the moon and back. Maybe I am just a too simple guy. Anyway, I have two absolutely favourite watch TH-cam channels. Britt Pearce and you! You are absolutely great, please never stop!
If we can have a rotating bezel with some kind of marker, will that not do the same task as a rattrapante marker? With fewer complications? ...and furthermore, if somebody can afford 35000 euro for a watch, shouldn't they have a minion to mention politely, "time mark?" if they are concerned about distractions?
Still waiting for the TeaMaster. Or will I really have to launch a watch brand JUST so I can have a watch which counts down the minutes needed for the perfect cuppa?
I'd rather have a countdown bezel, which is quicker and less complicated. Add central seconds and GMT complications instead. Or give me an alarm--it won't retrograde anywhere, but you can set it quickly to use as a makeshift minutes countdown, while giving you an alarm complication method of counting down, too.
To be truly useful it needs a chime. If I can have it chime at the time I’ve set (like a cheap digital watch) I’d actually use it. Otherwise it seems like another whiz bang geewhiz that’s cool and technical but doesn’t really add to the enjoyment of the watch experience. That watch would be just as interesting and beautiful without the old pants.
Why is this even called a complication? It’s literally a timing bezel activated by those pushers with a fancy fly back reset , it’s not connected the the watch movement in anyway.
Some of THE best photography in the watch game. Stunning.
Couldn’t agree more! Please tell us about your equipment and workflow!
Thanks so much. By the way, a coworker of mine is a fan of your music.
Watches certainly are tricky to capture properly aren’t they?
It's not a game, watch people are at risk!🤌😅
Also, what size is your wrist for the record?😅
Best watch channel on TH-cam IMHO. This is why I keep Rattrapante-ing to your videos.
End game level stuff right there. This watch has hobby exit velocity.

I feel so stupid for never thinking to do this, that's awesome
Why not just let the chrono run to get your elapsed time?

The best watch channel since Horology House. And with less fraud.
Less fraud ... that we know of. 😀
Wait until you find out my REAL wrist size.
@@YoureTerrificI’ve always found it suspicious that you claim your wrist is exactly 7 inches in circumference 🤨
I would love to see them add a sonnerie complication to play a sound when the minute hand has caught up
Exactly. Then it would actually BE useful. No one wants to constantly keep checking their watch when timing. That’s why chronographs are so useful.
For god's sake, I am 4 minutes into this video and I still don't know what the complication is all about.
I’m a few mins in. Seems like a count up timer like an internal bezel. I’m probably wrong, I’ll find out in a couple of mins
Hey I was right.
@@kaynwells6936 thanks!
For everyone else. I skipped to about 5 mins in

I'll allow it just this once.
This watch is so beautiful. PF's color pallet is unbelievable
The attention to detail and explanation of the unique complication really sets this content apart
K ing Charles showing some class! I would love to be able to afford this watch. I haven't coveted a watch so much since I first saw an AL&S chrono.
This is a spectacular piece.
This is really impressive... And the watch isn't bad either.

Cool complication. Honestly 👍🏻. The back is amazing.

The negative space on this watch's dial is not pleasant to me.
