    I have read that some kids will succeed for a while with bribes but then they want a bigger bribe. Typically they want one piece of candy, then two, then three, etc in order to do what the parent wants.
    This would seem to be common enough that someone online once wrote a joke (some years back) about a mathematician’s son who was potty training (probably around the usual age) and he wanted one piece of candy for using the toilet, then two, then four, and then (as I recall) at least eight. I don’t remember if the joke actually mentioned sixteen or thirty-two after that but it might have.

    I don’t know why some people think that naked potty training would work.
    Some books and web sites promote it as a (supposedly) effective method but since there is little to no discomfort if an accident happens there is no incentive to use the potty or toilet instead of continuing with playing (for example).
