My nephew is about to be 4 years old and he still isn't potty trained. He is autistic and every time we tried to get him on the toilet, he panics and bashes his head on the floor, sometimes until bruises. We seriously are trying and his therapists don't give us any tips on what to do. Any tips?

A Native American woman taught my mom this, she’s always owned daycare’s, and we’ve potty trained pretty much every child this way and it’s so great 🥰🥰
@@PohaiNuuhiwa too kind. It’s all about consistency, flexibility, and trust. I definitely had some moments when I thought it wasn’t the right path, but then I realized it’s all a lear ing experience for me and my babies. Problem splicing and creativity helped!
Good job Mom, but gosh i feel like that's a lot of work for them to not potty train til 19mos...🤦🏾♀️ Ive looked into this before, but i want to see results under a yr bc with my son he was fully potty trained 14mos.
I did this with my daughter when she was one month old and by the time she was six months she was completely potty trained. No more diapers. Now she's 14 and I plan on doing the same with my newborn son
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is giving me the courage to try this when i give birth. Do you have any recommendations for babies as early as 1 month?
@@stephaniem6521 my son is now two months and I take him to the toilet with the pampers on at certain times and make the noise for him to pee or poo and now i can tell when he want to he makes the noise. You can try this and see if it works for you as it is working for me.
I'm 60 yr old and this is what we all did back in the day we didn't have these fancy item but glad to see this is coming back and someone grandma has been listen too
@@sandrasnow3569yeah but they probably also did potty their babies as well, saves the washing. My grandma told my mum potty train me when I turned 9mo. We were living with her at the time. I was reliably using the potty by 18mo.
@@ekcs3941 Nine month olds cannot be potty trained. Parents can be trained to know when to set the baby on the toilet though. There's a big difference.
@@sandrasnow3569 actually it’s a two way street if you respond to cues when baby needs to go toilet, then baby lets you know more and more when they need to go. I asked my mum she said they just looked for signs and eventually o started taking myself I also was walking at 9mo also. This is normal in many non western cultures not abnormal at all. Yea being independent to take yourself toilet is a separate skill but my grandma would have just called it potty training. The disposable nappy industry is what changed these ideas and definitions.
My Japanese Aunt did this to my mother. My mom left me for a week fornan out of country trip at 13 months old and she came home to me fully potty trained. Lol.
😍 when my niece would refuse to be potty trained at 2 and a half I just started putting her in panties and getting her dressed. It only took about two poop accidents where the poop ran down her and got all over her until she decided the toilet was a good idea. People dont realize the diaper is a hindrance to a child knowing that they are pooping in their pants and that it stinks. No one wants poop on them. Even a 2 year old. When she was covered in stinky poop from the waist down instead of it neatly packaged in her absorbent diaper. That was enough for her to decide on her own to start using the toilet.
13 months is a lot older and normal for potty training 😂🤦🏽♀️ what's different is in this video she is talking about newborn babies and babies only a few months old.. Big difference. My mom got my brother, cousins and myself potty trained before 1.
i'm 22 years old & expecting. I was never comfortable with the idea of letting a baby sit in pee/ poo for even a second, my mum trained my and my siblings from birth using the elimination communication method & i'm so glad, thankyou for this video.
I don't have kids, but I will definitely 100% be using this when I do have them. This would spare kids so much annoyance, inconvenience and irritated skin. And I feel like it is more the "natural course of things" if you know what I mean. Update: i have a baby now!! I put her on a potty at 3 weeks and she peed immediately! I don't do EC yet because we're just trying to survive rn, but I'm looking forward to everything quieting doen and us being able to start doing EC consistently.
I have two and my oldest was never trained. One day he just went to the bathroom and he peed. He was one year and half. The end. So far I'm very skeptical ...
@@zestinusakur5583 Infants already know how to urinate and defecate. EC just gives them a place to do this that's not a diaper, but that is sanitary: a tiny potty, then the toilet later on without the struggle of transitioning from diaper to toilet. The book The Diaper Free Baby has great information on how to put EC into practice with even the youngest of babies.
My mother-in-law did this with all of her children and with my son and it worked wonderfully. She used to tell me about this before I got pregnant with my son and I thought she was absolutely crazy, until I saw it with my own eyes.
Mine also. This must’ve really been a common thing along time ago. I just couldn’t dedicate the time but thankfully all of mine were potty trained by 16 months.
I used to work at a daycare and the OG teachers explained that they used to have the kids potty trained before 2. Don’t know what happened that parents started potty training later. I’m a primary teacher now and some kids come into kindergarten not fully potty trained.
I bet it is just so much less common now because parents are overworked, have less parental leave, and just don't have the time in the first year of life to dedicate to EC.
My baby is 11 weeks, we started EC exactly 1 week ago today.. we’ve been very successful!!!! My goal is a 3 catch per day minimum, and we’ve been exceeding that at 6 catches a day! I hope we continue to catch everything.
@@alisondye7372 I also just dont have the time to do this for 9+ months everyday... seems better to wait till 1 year atleast then start potty training. Way less time! Like a week not 9 months!
i'm a childfree woman and yet i watched it and it's so nice and refreshing to see someone that actually potty trained his kid from such a young age! thank you for showing that it is possible and people don't have to waste money on diapers and wait till the baby is like 2-4 years old to do it!
Potty training from birth is basically potty training for 18 months. If you potty train at 2 years old, it takes about 2 weeks max. 2 weeks and a diaper bill? Or 18 months of running after your child trying to see their pee cues. Perhaps if you have just ONE child, or you are so poor that you cannot afford diapers, then this is a good method.
We were potty trained at 6 months (no accidents after 8-9 months) cause the country I came from did not have diapers. Wish more ppl knew about this. I didn't know you could start earlier though, thanks!
That’s a great perspective. I’ve worked at daycares and the stress that parents feel when they have to quickly potty train their kids so they can be accepted at that daycare or in a specific classroom (split by age group) always affected the kids. At that point they’re old enough to catch on to the frustration and stress around accidents. Idk. I feel like doing it this young and with less stress would be very healthy.
I am Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate (Native American). My Grandma taught my mom how know when we needed to go, alongside cloth diapers. I don’t think a lot of people still do this, but if I am lucky enough to become a parent I want to. Thanks for the video.
That is awesome! Thank you so much for watching! I think native peoples can teach us so much about living our best lives. I hope you become a parent one day too. :) It is a wild and crazy ride!
Also did this back in 1972 with my sons. Using 80-100 cloth diapers per week could be really draining and I didnt have a dryer so had to hang them up on the line!! Start when they wake up dry and make it a game without stress, repeating after meals which you will see a pattern. I was an at home mom which is probably the KEY, because at first, you are training YOURSELF by remembering to put them on the potty thru out the day.
@@nessparadis6948yes, newborns use 15 to 20 diapers a day. My breastfed 8month old still uses that many because breastmilk is like water so it goes right through them.
Firstly I just wanted to say you are so pretty! Secondly, I just wanted to compliment you on how you're doing with your daughter! You can tell she is very healthy and loved and very well cared for. Well done mama!
We began potty training our daughter at 5-6 mos. She was fully potty trained by 18 mos. Every so often we had trouble with poop but she grew out of it. Everyone is amazed when I tell them.
It took so lomg bcuz the baby wasn't ready. To each their own but potty training isn't supposed to take that long. Seems like a waste of time tho. Start training when the child is ready and training will only take a couple weeks. Also having trouble with poop isn't being fully trained.
All my 3 kids were potty trained within 2 weeks. Dry in the day and dry at night. My girl had a couple of accidents at night at the start if she had too much to drink but the boys didn’t have a single accident. I started potty training mine when they were ready (2-3years). Why would you spend a year potty training? Parenthood is hard enough as it is x
@@TanzaniteHayley It basically became routine. Honestly we kinda fell into potty training. One morning while on vacation I noticed she hadn't peed in her diaper so i sat her on the toilet as a joke. You could imagine my shock when she actually used it. So we just kept doing it. but a few mos of training and we moved to the next phase. So she was in pull ups by 1 and 6 mos later we were in undies. Also, we worked extremely irregular schedules so my grandmother had her a majority of the time so she would be left to potty training and while still very active that was a huge undertaking to leave to her. To add to it the daycare she would be attending required her to be some what potty trained before entering. Now with my schedule two weeks of training seems doable but I'm a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" girl.🤣 This way worked there's no going back.
@@TanzaniteHayley same as my niece and nephew. My sister in law could tell when they were ready, & from an outside perspective it seemed like it happened over night. Nothing wrong with nappies.
Despite what others are saying, you did it, your way, it worked great for you, your child was not hurt, you were not hurt, so GREAT JOB MOMMY !!! 👏🏿🙌🏿✊🏿
I did this with my son when he was 6months and he was fully potty trained before he was a year old. I didn’t do any noise cues. I didn’t know that it was even possible but I wanted to get him used to the potty early so he wasn’t scared of it when it was time to learn. He was potty trained before he was even talking.
@Sammy Torres literally all I did was start sitting him on the potty once he was old enough to sit up. My plan was just to sit him on there a few minutes a day so he would be used to the potty and not scared of it. As soon as he would use it I would take him off so after a while he just learned that he could use the bathroom and I would take him off. He couldn’t talk to tell me when he needed the bathroom but he would just wait til I would sit him on it. He was my first child and I was a stay at home mom so I had nothing better to do than to just work with him lol
@Sammy Torres people are always going to have their opinions but you’re the mom and all that matters is what you feel is right. When I did this I didn’t even tell anyone because I didn’t want them to say I was crazy. Specially because I was a young mom. But when he was potty trained before a year old no one had anything bad to say. Everyone was amazed that I didn’t have to buy diapers. With my other two I didn’t do this only because I was working and didn’t have time. They were potty trained around a year and half. With them I was just like “hey, this is long enough.. no more diapers” and just stopped using them and they didn’t take long at all to catch on. I can easily potty train a kid.. house training a pet on the other hand, I suck at lol
@@carolynbennett5102 yeah, but what’s a few months compared to holding a baby over a toilet 12 times a day. You’d get nothing else done. I say let the baby be a baby.
My granny had all of us grandchildren potty trained before we could walk by holding us above the toilet. Your methods look a whole lot easier than how I have always assumed she did it lol
that’s not potty training tho, that’s training the parent to recognize cues. it’s not good for the baby developmentally and is associated with bedwetting and constipation amongst other issues
I'm never having any children myself, but I couldn't help but watch this cause its an interesting topic. Most people I know are past the stage in their lives where they are having babies but I'll certainly discuss it with people!
I wish I would have known this 15 years ago. My boys did well, they were trained by the age of two. The boys are teenagers now, but I cry for the money I could have saved on diapers. Hats off to you my lady and your precious baby!
I saw this and thought it was freakin crazy but how she talks about everything and how she normalizes it and not pushes it on people I totally love this.
we started ec when our child was 2 weeks old. it was an amazing experience. its a shame that no one i know ever seems interested in learning abut it or trying it out. makes life so much easier and the child so much smarter.
I'm glad you made the video. I'm happy someone is sharing this. I used this method on a lazy mode and still managed to have full potty training finished by 2years You are awesome mama
Pregnant with my third currently and have never heard of this. Oh my gosh, I’m so excited to try it with our third this time around! Thank you for the video :)
I think my mom didn't believe me until she came to visit and saw for herself. I've done this with all 3 of my kiddos starting at a week or two old and it never fails to bring a smile to my face when I put them on the potty and they actually go. I don't know why I still find it so crazy that it works! :)
I firmly believe babies are as smart as you allow them to be. Your baby girl is a beautiful and amazing little one. Congratulations for seeing and choosing the benefit to her.
My older son started becoming interested in the potty as soon as he could walk. He didn't care to use a small potty by himself until we got one that looked like a toilet 😅
@@chantelled7710 I started when she was 3months old. We lived in a tiny house and I had a fear of leaving her alone, lol. So, at 3 months when I had to go, she sat on the toilet and I helped her sit there. A few times of that and she was going potty 'just like Mommy'!! 🙌🏻❤💥
@@cocomint26 nope, she was in cloth, so if she did go in the middle of the night, we both woke up, took her 'potty', cleaned her up and back to bed she went!
I read a book about this and really wanted to do. I was so overwhelmed it being my first baby and not being able to have any help because of COVID, I never did. He's almost 10 months now - maybe I have the mental space to start. :)
I beg people to not try this.At least try to read up on it first. I would not encourage potty training before 2 years old and I don’t know many experts who do. In early childhood education we are taught the most important thing is for a baby to learn autonomy and play. Potty training will come when they ready. It makes no sense to force a child under 2 to hold his penis and pee properly when he has more important things to learn at that age.
I feel like this video is good for babysitters as well as moms! As long as the parents are okay with it, the babysitter could help potty train the little ones using this method!
@@chantelled7710 So many places do not use diapers. There are many countries in Africa with people who do this with infants. You can find videos of it.
But often it’s not necessarily that the children ar fully potty trained, but more that parents recognise the signals that the baby needs to go to potty. I once a guest in a Chinese community. Several times, people suddenly got up with their baby and hold them near a tree to let the baby go potty. I was impressed.
I’m currently 7 months pregnant and have always been interested in how children in other countries get potty trained so early. Now I know. Thank you so much for sharing!
Okay so I was super skeptical about this whole thing but after watching the whole video I decided to give my four month old his very first potty-tunity and he went immediately.
@@steph9561 He hasn’t gone in the potty again yet! My son actually does this thing where he shivers like he has a cold chill right before he goes so I just take him as soon as I see him do that. And at the start and end of every activity.
I don't have a baby (YET) but this was super interesting and I really hope my anxiety will allow me to do EC with my baby! So happy to see alternative ways to raise a baby from the ones I've been traditionnally shown :O
I am a Tutu and I have no idea why this popped up but I watched and I am so proud of you! The time and patience it took! My son is probably a bit older than you but I did use cloth diapers for him. Then I got lazy for my second son and use disposable. First time hearing about this.
I did this at 6 months w my daughter (now 3) after seeing an EC video come up on TH-cam and now that I’m expecting again I can’t wait to start even sooner! She was potty trained fully by 13 months and after going #2 a few min after finishing that first video I can count on one hand the amount of times I had to change a poo diaper. Once they realize they don’t have to sit in all that stuff those little brains work wonders!! I’m so happy to see another EC video on my feed💕💕
I’m 10 weeks pregnant and I’ve never heard of this before but Ive been watching baby /mom tip videos for a few hours and came across this, I’d love to try this one out !
Go for it! It was definitely worth it and so helpful for us! Baby was out of diapers at 17-months and had so much confidence and independent. I was so lucky to come across this before I gave birth. Congratulaitons!
I will definitely be doing this. Empowerment for babies, no one should ever have to sit in their own waste. Humans have to use the bathroom shortly after eating. It’s so simple! Really glad I found this video. 💕
Thanks so much for sharing -- your video introduced us to EC. Hubby and I practiced it with our baby from 2weeks pp, and now at 18mos and diaper-free at home during the day!
I only watched your video out of curiosity and to just have background noise, but I ended up being blown away! I've never even heard of EC! I love how EC respects the baby by saying they are capable of things as long as adults provide a safe means for them to try. I've been also reading up on Montessori principles to hopefully help me with my 7-month old, and EC seems to fall VERY much in line with that... I'm going to start looking up the potty products you mention!
Thanks so much for watching! EC has been so great for us, and I think also lines up with Montessori principles that foster independence in babies as well! Youʻre doing a great job!
I’ve never studied up on Montessori training in my time as a babysitter or nanny, but I like my independence so it’s always part of how I teach children. I mostly care for babies and toddlers and sometimes pre-schoolers. My mindset is always give them a chance to try something, let them learn from their experiences, and provide a safe space. I’m always amazed by what children can accomplish when we trust them.
It’s always nice to see someone else who is from Hawaii on here. I’m from Ewa Beach, and then later lived in Makakilo right about the time that Kapolei started booming. We moved to Iowa just days before Christmas in 1996 to take care of my grandpa during his final years. We intended to go back home; my grandpa passed in 2004, but we’re still here. I see a lot of stickers on car windows with the outline of the state of Iowa that say “Native” in the middle. I saw the perfect one for me a couple of weeks ago that also had the outline of the state of Iowa, but in the middle it said “Captive.” That’s how I feel. I’m SO homesick, but it’s just too expensive to move back. At least we have family and friends still there.🤙🏼
One more great idea I am definitely intending to use, as I want to use washable diapers. These techniques will reduce the time I spend cleaning and washing. Yay !
I started doing this with my 9 month old 5 days ago after I saw this video. At the end of day 2 I got tired of putting her diaper on and off every hour so we bought pull ups and it has been so amazing. I rarely change her because she pees and poops in the potty every day. Thank you!!!!!! 💜
I was raised by an old school Mom and she started potty training me at 7 months and she told me that I was fully potty trained at 9 months. So this is very doable. Children are highly intelligent and I think we don’t give them enough credit. I think many times we over think the process of potty training. I potty trained my children fairly quickly. I couldn’t imagine my children being 2 years old and still in diapers!
That is true dedication mama. I would have never thought about doing this and to me it sounds like a crazy idea but you pulled it off and I admire you for doing it.
I wish I knew this many years ago when my three were tiny, I’ll share this because it’s great! Not everyone can afford so many diapers what a help this will be for those sweet Mommas!
I don’t have kids, but I think this seems pretty cool. Diapers are so expensive, most people cannot afford them. So doing this might be exhausting but hey, saves money.
I've never had kids and this was always something I wondered about. I know someone who never seemed to be potty training her kid, he had to be enrolled at a "special" school because by the time he was starting school, he had so much anxiety around the topic. I'd never known of a similar situation but I guess teachers can't be changing kids at school. Your little one is a little darling, such a good girl ☺️
Lol “we were trying to survive and keep her alive” I feel that so much 😂. Ftm and I’m so nervous I’m currently 40w 5days waiting on our girl to make her appearance. I’d love to practice elimination communication.
Tip! for the baby potty for easier cleaning put water in before use (enough to cover the bottom) and a sheet of toilet paper at the bottom. If baby poops the toilet paper will hold the poop and when it’s time to dump it it easily slides out and doesn’t leave poop residue or streaks in potty lol (you should still sanitizer after use)
I'm old school, had five in under 9 yrs. Used cloth diaper no water proofing, got all potty trained from 9 too 12 months. It wasn't always easy but little onesor are very smart an usually happy to please the parents.
OMG! I was blown away by my 4month baby boy on just day 2 of practicing EC and he did a big poop in his potty. I will not usually comment on TH-cam but I just had to say a big thank you for posting this video and to let you know I started almost immediately I saw this and my little baba went the very first time even when it was in the middle of the night.😃 Thanks again love.💖🌹👏🎉
Going to try this! Baby boy is 8 wks today and has great head control!! I would probably have people wait until they can at least hold their heads up well. Too difficult to hold baby on a potty/top hat etc and keep their neck protected. (Childcare provider and mother of 6) Thank for this video! Pretty cool!! I want to add, most babies aren’t fully potty trained until anywhere from 2.5-4; so please don’t feel like a failure if this doesn’t work for you and your child. They WILL be trained once ready🥰
All my babies were potty trained by 9 months . It was so much easier spending time training them, than washing lots of Terry Towelling nappies, by hand. Lots of young mum's in the 60/70's couldn't afford washing machines.
I found this so interesting, I'd never heard of it before. Thank you so much. I'm a first time mama as well, due in June. Great idea to kinda help them not to feel intimidated by the toilet. Babys are extremely smart and pick things up faster than we can sometimes. Thank you xx
@@PohaiNuuhiwa definitely. We are similar minded. My husband and I speak different languages from each other and he said from very young he got taught by his parents, so he will teach our wee one the same way. They are wee sponges that want to learn, love their curiosity ♡♡ xx
Also heard about preverbal use of sign language for baby to signal parents when they have to go potty. WOnderful that you're doing this and sharing your information. I hope many many will see this and learn for themselves!
I guess by doing this, the baby will be trained not to use the diaper. Then might make those noises that she was taught in the beginning (during the training) to indicate that she has to use the toilet
We started at 7 months, in the evenings before shower/bath. I knew when I would take diaper off he would pee, so it was a great opportunity to get used to potty. He then started pooping in the potty (I can imagine much more comfortable doing that than in a diaper). Now when he makes a face of '' I need to poop'' I take him to potty. Once warmer months start I plan on putting him on potty more through the day as will have less layers to remove. My mum did this with me back in the 90's from when I could start sitting and wa sout of diapers fully by 18 months
I have a video of my son signing potty at 9months, on my other channel carlismycat. This was 9 years ago :-) . He potty trained at age 3 due to developmental delays (that he had since birth, which is WHY I decided to do signing&e.c. He would have PT at FIVE+ had I never done e.c. from early on.
See thats the thing. It isn't just training baby..its training mom and dad too. The infant can't get to a potty alone and you have to have a very open schedule and not a need for outside child care to do this(trust me that daycare is not keeping up with your child's potty schedule when they are too young to walk to a potty alone and have to be held over it and communicated to in order to go). It's a commitment most families don't have the luxury of doing now a days in 2 income families. More power to those who have the time and ability tho. 👍
Thank you for watching! I had never heard of this before I started doing research before having baby too! It just makes so much sense and we are seeing it pay off more and more as baby gets older! She understands where poop/pee should go and that she should tell us if she needs to go. I think she is much happier when she poops in the potty (and not in her diaper). :) We still have times were she uses her cloth diaper as a back up and thatʻs ok!
Wow. To think I never knew this existed until now! I can tell this requires a lot of patience and time, but in the long run, you'll be very grateful when you look around at all the other parents struggling to potty train and STILL have to buy pull-ups. I will definitely be utilizing this when I am with my first 😊 definitely seems worth it!
I'm about to have my first baby. There's so much advice and techniques out there about anything and everything. I'm going to try this one but it's just so intimidating!
Omg... I don’t have kids but many of my friends/family do... the amount of money you would save on DIAPERS & WIPES would be ASTRONOMICAL. Plus- for cleanliness, diaper rash, skin irritation , infections!! This is amazing. I will definitely do this when I have my own kids.
I wanted to try this with our second baby, but I was unsure if I would have the motivation to stay on top of it; then the shutdown happened and that was the perfect opportunity because we were home all the time and I got use to his routine when he needs to use the potty, so we are able to rush him to the toilet. Lol he enjoys it too, I just keep some toys handy under the restroom sink to help him wait a little longer and then he WILL go. It’s still a working progress, but I don’t regret it😁
What a great idea👍😍. i wish we had tried that with our babies. Unfortunately they are all grown now. Have seen a similar video about baby using hand signing to communicate hunger etc.
Her signals have changed over time! A signal that has stayed no matter her age is fussiness! If she seems fussy for no apparent reason, we also take her to the potty and many times she poops/pees. She also would fart before she had to poop before she started solid foods. Now, we have taught her to sign "potty" in sign language, so she also signals that way too. Thank you for watching!
It's called training, then you help develop a system that you realize they are letting you know they need to go. First you must train/teach them what you are expecting from them.
@@bedheadbutterfly Every 2 hours sit them on the potty. Before and after meals etc. My mother had 8 children. She was who told me how. It is simple. It worked for all 8 of hers. She had over 20 grandchildren and it worked for all of them.
My mom did this with me. I couldn’t walk or crawl but I was potty trained. I didn’t pee during the night and I peed the same time everyday. Every time she put me on the toilet after I learned I used the bathroom there from then on. I was trained before 6 months. Can’t remember exactly the month. I just know I wasn’t sitting up on my own by the time I was trained.
So inspired by your video! What is the benefit of holding the baby over the top hat versus just starting with the mini potty and holding the baby over it?… Im due in a few days with a baby boy, I bought both but I’m curious if I should just return the top hat since I’m afraid he might be missing the hat and the mini potty has a bigger range to pee into. . .the top hat looks easier to clean but that is the only pro I am seeing. Thanks!
Thank you for watching! Great question! I think the top hat was great when baby is really small, and I think some sit with the top hat in between their legs and baby on top (which I think would be hard would the mini potty), but we used it always on top of our sink counter. So, I don't think the top hat is absolutely necessary--we definitely got more use out of the mini potty and still use it in the car today just in case for our 2.5 year old!
Last year I had an 8 week puppy and this reminds me of house training haha. We just took her out 15-20 mins after every meal, and I would say "go potty!" and lots of praise after she went. She was housebroken in about 3 weeks? Some unexpected parallels between puppies and babies 😆

Good job Mom, but gosh i feel like that's a lot of work for them to not potty train til 19mos...🤦🏾♀️
Ive looked into this before, but i want to see results under a yr bc with my son he was fully potty trained 14mos.
I did this with my daughter when she was one month old and by the time she was six months she was completely potty trained. No more diapers. Now she's 14 and I plan on doing the same with my newborn son
Wow 14 years age gap! My own brother and I are 13 years apart!
Say what now 😳😳 I am so trying this 💪🏾
Thank you for sharing your experience.

I'm 60 yr old and this is what we all did back in the day we didn't have these fancy item but glad to see this is coming back and someone grandma has been listen too
My grandparents used cloth diapers.
“And someone’s gma was finally listened to” 😂 Not mine, she’s crazy. But someone’s lol
My Japanese Aunt did this to my mother. My mom left me for a week fornan out of country trip at 13 months old and she came home to me fully potty trained. Lol.
Can I borrow your aunt for a week please 😄
😍 when my niece would refuse to be potty trained at 2 and a half I just started putting her in panties and getting her dressed. It only took about two poop accidents where the poop ran down her and got all over her until she decided the toilet was a good idea.
People dont realize the diaper is a hindrance to a child knowing that they are pooping in their pants and that it stinks. No one wants poop on them. Even a 2 year old. When she was covered in stinky poop from the waist down instead of it neatly packaged in her absorbent diaper. That was enough for her to decide on her own to start using the toilet.
😂😂@@whitneygmabry9345
The less crap (literally in this case) going into the landfills, the better.
I have two and my oldest was never trained. One day he just went to the bathroom and he peed. He was one year and half. The end. So far I'm very skeptical ...
@@zestinusakur5583 the point is to never have to rely solely on diapers, not to potty train them.
Yea good point
Ma'am that baby has your WHOLE face. Adorable 🥰
She’s crazy! 🧡☺️😂 thanks so much for watching!!
P up
@@AlgennExy it’s called laziness
I bet it is just so much less common now because parents are overworked, have less parental leave, and just don't have the time in the first year of life to dedicate to EC.
My baby is 11 weeks, we started EC exactly 1 week ago today.. we’ve been very successful!!!! My goal is a 3 catch per day minimum, and we’ve been exceeding that at 6 catches a day! I hope we continue to catch everything.
That is amazing!! Congratulations! And thank you for watching :)

@@QueenM99 I’m wondering the same thing
@@alisondye7372 I also just dont have the time to do this for 9+ months everyday... seems better to wait till 1 year atleast then start potty training. Way less time! Like a week not 9 months!
At 11 wks I assume this baby is fully potty trained by now
i'm a childfree woman and yet i watched it and it's so nice and refreshing to see someone that actually potty trained his kid from such a young age! thank you for showing that it is possible and people don't have to waste money on diapers and wait till the baby is like 2-4 years old to do it!
Whose Kwai Tsing until their kid is 4 and in elementary school to potty train them?
Cloth diapers are very cheap though! I bought 33 for $35!!! Don't have to buy another diaper ever again, and will last for every kid I ever have!!
80-100 per week? 😯😯😯
That's a great idea.
You never want to use a dryer for cloth diapers..air dry outside in the sun so they dont stain either
What a miracle! I have never heard of this. My kids and my grandchildren are grown now. Babies are much smarter than we know.
This gives me hope! 🙏🏾
My son is 9 months and I am wanting to try this! How was it with a boy? Did you hold his thing into the potty or prompt him to?
Yeah thats fine bc they can sit on their own at that age some ppl are forcing 2month old babies to sit😔

You got this queen!! Slow and steady
I'm so with you. My LO is 8m and I intended on doing it from birth but I think I'm gonna start now. Better late than never!
My mom said in her home country they don’t even use diapers the children learn to use the restroom as infants and never use diapers 🤷🏽♀️ lol
What country? 🤔
Woah!
In Philippines too :)

I am so grateful for this video. I'm due in 6 months and was wondering how this was done. Thank you for teaching me and everyone.
I'm due in 11 weeks and love the idea of eliminating our waste on the planet. Definitely love the tips as I've been looking into all options 👌
I’m not a mom yet but I love learning mommy hacks for when I do have my babies in the future 🖤
I never knew this existed... very nice! I sent to my daughter who has a brand new baby. Thank you!
Although to add..... If she is leaning back she pees a little on the ground almost every time.....
I didn’t even know this was a thing before 1. Mine will be 9 months next week and I just got her a potty.

Good luck hun 👍 ❤️
I was raised by an old school Mom and she started potty training me at 7 months and she told me that I was fully potty trained at 9 months. So this is very doable. Children are highly intelligent and I think we don’t give them enough credit. I think many times we over think the process of potty training. I potty trained my children fairly quickly. I couldn’t imagine my children being 2 years old and still in diapers!
That is true dedication mama. I would have never thought about doing this and to me it sounds like a crazy idea but you pulled it off and I admire you for doing it.
Pregnant with my second, and I really want to try this.
Go for it!
I was thinking it's probably a lot of trips, but if she goes, then way faster and easier than a diaper change!
especially great in the long run bc they have to be potty trained for school
I've never had kids and this was always something I wondered about. I know someone who never seemed to be potty training her kid, he had to be enrolled at a "special" school because by the time he was starting school, he had so much anxiety around the topic. I'd never known of a similar situation but I guess teachers can't be changing kids at school. Your little one is a little darling, such a good girl ☺️

Tip! for the baby potty for easier cleaning put water in before use (enough to cover the bottom) and a sheet of toilet paper at the bottom. If baby poops the toilet paper will hold the poop and when it’s time to dump it it easily slides out and doesn’t leave poop residue or streaks in potty lol (you should still sanitizer after use)
Great tip! We used water sometimes, but sometimes I forgot! Our cloth diaper sprayer ws my #1 friend--and I recommend it for so many uses!

I love your energy girl omg you make me smile.
All my babies were potty trained by 9 months . It was so much easier spending time training them, than washing lots of Terry Towelling nappies, by hand. Lots of young mum's in the 60/70's couldn't afford washing machines.

Also heard about preverbal use of sign language for baby to signal parents when they have to go potty. WOnderful that you're doing this and sharing your information. I hope many many will see this and learn for themselves!
How I wish I knew about this! I had 2 babies just 13 months apart & the diapering was a full time job! Your little model is ADORABLE btw.
Follow-up question, what do you do while out and about? And does she give you official cues?
i was wondering the same
I guess by doing this, the baby will be trained not to use the diaper. Then might make those noises that she was taught in the beginning (during the training) to indicate that she has to use the toilet
@@ekisharajendran6083 hahahaha
Not sure how I ended up here but might as well stay now that I’m here 😂
Wow she is so smart, she knew exactly what you meant when you told her to wave goodbye lol❤️🥰
Your baby is so precious! 💕 thanks for sharing!
Hey! Good idea! I will forward this to my daughter and daughter-in-law. Thank you so much!
This takes so much time and effort! Hat off to mom and dad! Not a mom yet but hopefully one day! ❤️
Subscribing because wow I never heard of this ! My baby is 4 months and thank you thank you mommy
We all had the same expectations...
Could you please do a video on how to EC your baby when traveling or going out with your baby!?!?
I wanted to try this with our second baby, but I was unsure if I would have the motivation to stay on top of it; then the shutdown happened and that was the perfect opportunity because we were home all the time and I got use to his routine when he needs to use the potty, so we are able to rush him to the toilet. Lol he enjoys it too, I just keep some toys handy under the restroom sink to help him wait a little longer and then he WILL go. It’s still a working progress, but I don’t regret it😁
This does work my sister tired this method with my nephew everyone thought she was crazy but she proved us all wrong it actually worked
What a great idea👍😍. i wish we had tried that with our babies. Unfortunately they are all grown now. Have seen a similar video about baby using hand signing to communicate hunger etc.
How does the baby signal you when she has to go?
Great idea I have a son I may try this soon
Her signals have changed over time! A signal that has stayed no matter her age is fussiness! If she seems fussy for no apparent reason, we also take her to the potty and many times she poops/pees. She also would fart before she had to poop before she started solid foods. Now, we have taught her to sign "potty" in sign language, so she also signals that way too. Thank you for watching!
It's called training, then you help develop a system that you realize they are letting you know they need to go. First you must train/teach them what you are expecting from them.
My daughter walked at 9 months. Had her potty trained at 10 months. Never had to go through all this. Once they start walking it comes naturally.
😳 how?! I have two walking and the in diapers still 😭
@@bedheadbutterfly Every 2 hours sit them on the potty. Before and after meals etc. My mother had 8 children. She was who told me how. It is simple. It worked for all 8 of hers. She had over 20 grandchildren and it worked for all of them.
@@herekittykitty9324 wow! Can't wait to try that for my future baby! Thanks for sharing!
How did she walk at 10 months?!
@@julia67843 At 9 months. Surely it's not the first time you have ever heard of such? Not that uncommon.
What about going out and the baby request the restroom? Diapers are allowed in certain sotuation?
@@PohaiNuuhiwa nice, thansk for the info!
Last year I had an 8 week puppy and this reminds me of house training haha. We just took her out 15-20 mins after every meal, and I would say "go potty!" and lots of praise after she went. She was housebroken in about 3 weeks? Some unexpected parallels between puppies and babies 😆
You are building a habit, even if the baby or the puppy are very small and have low capacity to understand or speak.
That’s good to know with a puppy!
