I don’t have children and never will, yet I watched this entire video and found it interesting. That’s an amazing accomplishment on your part that you can make this interesting for those it doesn’t apply to. Very creative of you to combine written and verbal to make this easier to retain and follow along!

Love that you mentioned to get 3 days out of our heads. It's really unrealistic! I really struggled with my first and it took months to get him #1 potty trained. We still get accidents with #2, so I'll try to lightly prompt him and use encouraging words (after #2 in toilet) to see of there's a change.

This was super helpful. I was in potty training hell a few weeks ago when I tried this with my 2.5 year old. I was following the big little feelings method which is remarkably similar to what you discussed in this video. It was honestly one of the hardest weekends of my life. She pooped in the potty on Day 1 which gave me a huge sense of false victory!! But after that it was just accident after accident and she would hold her pee for literally 9 hours at a time. Like a camel to the EXTREME!!! In the end it really boiled down to me needing to relinquish control and I just could not do it. I totally gave up by the end of the 3 days, threw the pullups back on her and haven't mentioned it again. So I know I'm going to have to do it all over... Your video gives me hope so I thank you for the motivation!

15:05 one thing we did was actually write down their poop and pee schedule…including accidents and when they go in their diaper during nap/bedtime.
This gave us an idea of when they might need to go so that helped us plan…like for instance let’s say he sat on potty and pooped at…sat on potty and peed at…had an accident at…sat on potty and pooped….took a nap at and peed…
We have found that actually helps us avoid accidents by a little bit because we know his schedule.

I thought that my way of doing things was and then I was the queen potty training, but then I had another little girl gonna be four in August and when I try to put on the potty, she screams at somebody is murdering her let me get up, I know she has bladder control because when she’s in the pool, she gets out and asked you to put her diaper on so she can go potty. Also with the small outings in block two, is the goal to just have them stay dry the whole time or pee/poop at the location?
Lastly….with prompting, that’s equivalent to having them “try”? Like if you arrived to the location and have them go to the bathroom to start? The prompting confuses me haha

I really struggled with the 3 day potty training method. I have changed my methods with my second and she’s going #1 and #2 in the potty at 14 months. I just give her opportunities when I can. She claps and thinks it’s fun. I don’t think you necessarily have to clear your schedule and can make it a fun gradual process with EC. I think either method works but wanted to put out another idea for moms that get really stressed over the clear your schedule thing.

I tried potty training my first early because everyone I knew was doing it. I quickly learned that even if they “get it” they’re not fully potty trained the parent is! I also heard that if you do it too early it can cause it to take longer and be more regressions over time. Which we definitely experienced. My daughter was almost 4 by the time she got it down, and we still have an accident every once in a while.
A mom of 6 gave me the best advice. She said she never potty trained any of her kids. She just put a potty out there and they did it when they were ready, because they aren’t going to grow up and still have to wear diapers as teens. 😂 so even if you’re not that extreme hands off, it made me feel better and I’m not going to do anything with my 2 year old until he’s going to be able to dress himself, and take himself without me reminding him. 😅 Otherwise I’m potty training myself again.

Interesting!! My daughter just turned 3 last month. And so far with everything I taught her it's been on her own terms. When she was ready to do so. And I feel like it's the same with the potty training. But I guess there is pressure to have your kid potty trained. It makes me feel like I'm not a good parent. But i was just saying what you mentioned even if they are potty trained not fully. My cousin works at the elementary school she said they have so many change of clothes for 1st graders with accidents in school. I was like, hmm. I don't feel too bad now 😂

Our first apartment was fully carpeted when we trained my first, definitely have a carpet cleaner spray for spot cleaning and designated towel. It’s definitely possible you got this.

i live in a fully carpeted apartment and stressing out over this 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ and an unhelpful alcoholic husband. We only have one small bathroom where i already set up her potty but my husband will lock himself up in there for hours or be peeing constantly due to him drinking alot.

There's underwear that's for potty training. They have a little bit of lining to help with the mess if there's an accident. It helps that kids because they feel the accident. Diapers and pull ups take the moisture away so fast. Just an idea. Good luck with everything and if you have to put a lock on the bathroom door and don't give him the key.

I have heard you can actually put their underwear under the diaper so they can feel the wetness& discomfort bt doesnt actually come out & I believe also asking multiple times a day could help & maybe putting the potty in the kitchen or laundry if ur hubby in the bathroom unnecessarily lol

I disagree with the pull-ups🤷🏻‍♀️ also even if it takes a bit longer it’s still worth it. Not only that but plenty of kids take a long time regardless of not having them on… just ruins ur furniture and sanity and makes ur kid more frustrated

Def pros and cons to both. My daughter is still in 50% pull ups 50% undies and it’s prolonging the poop issue specifically but at least it’s less mess to clean 🤷🏻‍♀️

I start potty training at 4-6 months. You learn their body language, and you plop them on the toilet. Sit there, holding them until they go. 😊 it becomes a pattern, and they begin to tell you.

@Nicolelelagreen you definitely should. Start with baby #3. You'll notice when she starts to push while in her diaper. Take it off and sit her on toilet. It's something she'll get used to after that week and will eventually look at you and wait for you to take her. It's a habit.
Start with the pooping, it's hard for their bladder to hold, I'm only referring to when they poo, not pee. But eventually they'll do it all!

TBH I have never unserstood potty training. Children will learn once they are physically and mentally ready. Every child is different. Why force it? Our daugher was 2,5 yo when one day she decided not to wear a diaper. We made potty avaiable for her at the age of 1,5 and read books on the subject. We encouraged her to try but accepted when she didnt want to. Never left naked or anything like that. I guess every culture is different. Anyway good luck ☺️

Sometimes you don't have a choice. Here in France kids must go to school the year they turn 3 by law and they must be potty trained. So some kids have to be potty trained at 2 years and 9 months

@@staceyhookins3433 what happens in the case of a child that was very premature? My daughter was 4 months early and has clubbed feet so only just started walking at 2½. I'm just curious about the other countries and cultures as any information is super helpful. I'm from the US.
Do the children have to be fully potty trained with no accidents at all? Is there a homeschooling option?

    • @staceyhookins3433
      @staceyhookins3433 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@ThirstyBaconfrom what I know a premature child would have to start the year they turn 3 too. Basically they have to go to school whether they are potty trained or not by law, but at the same time teachers dont want to accept them if they are not potty trained but by law they can't turn a child away. But they tell you they don't have changing facilities on site and they are not there to change a child. But they are constantly telling the kids to go to the toilet and usually they all get the hang of it on the first week or so.
You can homeschool under exceptional circumstances but recently it mostly became illegal due to it being associated with religious families teaching their children at home and radicalisation (Religion is not taught at school in France)
