    The trans flush machines I've seen don't use any pumps they used the car's regular system to circulate the fluid. You disconnect the transmission lines from the cooler and hook them up to the machine and it simply changes out the old for new at the same volume. There is no reason to fear it. The machine is just two reservoir drums. They don't need any power besides the car. Although they might have a plug for a light bulb

      Drain the transmission, which came to three quarts, then refill with three quarts. Drive the car for a couple miles, making sure all gears were engaged. Then repeat this process two more times.

    To the person with the Jetta. Try filling up the tank part way like half to 3/4. You might be getting raw gas into your evap system when filling up all the way. If so it'll narrow your issue to the tank area. I believe on those jettas, the canister is under the hood

    Might help viewers to understand what riders in Rivian trucks are experiencing and what causes it don't you think, rather than make some strong statement against it? It's the very strong regen braking settings which allows the "one-pedal" driving that many electrics, and some hybrids, offer. In order to gain range, they upped the regenerative braking settings more so than in some other vehicles. Passengers are prepared for the strong braking effect as the driver lifts off the accelerator and it makes for less comfort for them. The driver's prepared as they're the operator.

      Yes the dealer is using high quality oil and filter. If u want to go somewhere else to have ur oil changed just ask the dealer what brand and weight of oil they are using and what filter then purchase the oil and filters online or see if ur local auto parts store can get it then take ur own oil and filters to a good reputable oil change place. I would compare what u are paying now at the dealer and what all it will cost buying ur own oil and filters and how much a good place will charge u for labor to do both ur cars. Truthfully if u can afford to keep going to the dealer then I would just do that because they have taken good care of u and both ur vehicles.

When I imagine myself driving an EV, I would want the option of being able to coast, or using the regen brake. A switch on the shifter, on the dash or steering wheel, or on the floor, something that you can engage, or not, at your will. It's not just about the coasting; I've heard that regen braking can be a problem on slick surfaces. I'd like to drive it rather as a typical, normal car, and choose to use the regen when I want.

      Costco is a cheaper brand of oil and can't compare to Amsoil. I agree u should flush ur engine with flush and also every so often when u change ur oil replace one quart of oil with a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil. The Marvel will also clean ur motor while u drive it till ur next oil change.

    There are two ratings involved with oil: 1) Viscosity 2) Service Rating. The oil that goes into your car must meet the manufacturer's requirements for viscosity AND service rating. Choosing a synthetic will allow for a longer service interval, that's all.

    A word about semi-synthetic. There's no regulation stating how much synthetic oil is in that blend nor is their a label stating as such, so the quart could have less than a thimble-full of real synth but still be sold as semi-synthetic. And for the minute difference in price, you're better off getting full-synth.

    Some flush machines will allow the vehicle trans pump to pump the fluid so it's never flowing backwards (which can jam wear material into places). If it were done from new I don't see an issue.

    When i first got my '14 sonata, the dealer gave a free year of oil changes, however, I didnt realise they've been putting in CONVENTIAL oil instead of synthetic. Hyundai engines were known to be dirty all the time so I decided to try to do something new and did my own oil change by giving it a engine flush treatment and use Quaker State full synthetic because Quaker State is known to help cleaning the inside of the engine from sludge. And right now it looks like my oil is looking a lot better, still somewhat dirty. It's not completely dark and Im hoping that as i keep doing synthetic, it'll eventually staighten itself out.

      I drain and fill myself, some say to do a 3 drain and fill regimen in order to fully drain the torque converter. I just drain and fill with new filter every 40,000 miles. It paid off the first time I did it my transmission pan was coated with metal particles, the second time it was clean. Use the recommended dealer fluid and dealer filter and you’ll be ok. It is an easy job, good luck.

    • @Erik_Swiger
      @Erik_Swiger ปีที่แล้ว

      Scotty recommends to pull the pan, drain the fluid, change the filter, and replace the same amount of fluid that you drained. His objection is to using a flushing machine, which can cause damage. Beyond that, he says that if the tranny fluid is really old and has never been changed at all, that it's best to leave it alone.

    Just bought a 2015 Acura tlx v6 after seeing good reviews in the consumer reports magazine. Started digging around on the forums and what not and started finding quite a lot of rod bearing failures for the v6 from 24,000 miles to 110,000 miles. Seems to be no rhyme or reason and I’ve asked Acura mechanics and they say they’ve never heard of the problem. Just curious what you might think is the issue and what we can do to fix it before it’s a $7,000 problem
