I thought this was going to be an epic battle, with Ampharos and other legendaries backing me up. Then Yveltal used Oblivion Wing, it was when everyone fucking died.
It's where those revive all orbs really come in handy. And where a ban seed can be a godsend to prevent oblivion wing. Combined with one truant wand, survival becomes easier.
Hardest boss battle in the storyline as well as the second most painful boss fight in the entire game for me up to date. It doesn't help that the only two playable possible allies who can survive an Oblivion Wing are Ampharos and Jirachi who resist Flying-Type attacks but the move still hits like a runaway train. Also...that 3x10 hit range due to Yveltal being a Giant Pokemon...
Welcome, this is where all your reviver seeds you got, the countless oran berries, the sticks that you use (Petrify and sleep sticks which I always used to stop the hellbomb that is Oblivion Wing, for a short time), all of your precious items for the final battle...gone in a use of a move. My first run of Super mystery dungeon everybody. :'/
+Rune Angel Worst thing was that I was at the 6th floor without any Oran Berries or Reviver Seeds, so I had to hope that I got like one from the dungeon so I won't lose instantly.
+Epitome of Destruction Wasn't too hard for me, but then again I chose Riolu as my starter so I had a slight advantage. On a related note I liked the Dark Matter fight.

Hire Darkrai to destroy the future again, then invite Giratina to distort the place, then turn Yveltal into stone and put him in that place for eternal torment. Solved.
Fighting Yveltal was hard but when you have to fight him as Delphox it makes what is already a hard fight even harder and what makes this fight the hardest is the fact he keeps using Roost to undo the damage you inflict.

I have just beat the main game today and want to share my experience with this battle. It was absolute Hell. i had been stuck on this battle for a while and had depleted most of my valuable resources from time and time again to improve my odds at winning. It did not work. I had to rely heavily on RNG to get decent floor loot and to spawn a Kecleon shop in one of the rooms. After searching and looting every floor before the annihilation of my team, I had to consider each factor and aspect before the battle -Mitzy(my Fennekin partner who was Delphox) would be crucial to taking down Nueaf -Wattson(my Oshawatt who was Samurott) would have to be protected from Nuzleaf and would be able to attack the Beheeyems from a distance with Water Pulse and up close with Fury Cutter. -Espurr will probably die within two turns of the battle, so I should try to utilize her in alliance attacks. -Ampharos will have to be in close to attack since most of the moves used by him are physical moves besides Elecro Ball. -Celebi is almost useless since psychic attacks do nothing to dark types and will die within the first turn due to Snarl or Oblivion Wing. -Jirachi will just spam Flash Cannon -The Beheeyems will snipe with Psybeams and Simple Beams -Yveltal has a high probability of using Snarl if my team is close to him, which gives my team a chance to attack if he uses Hone Claws in cost of losing Celebi -Nuzleaf will most likely defeat Wattson no one is blocking Nuzleaf or if Razor Leaf doesn’t miss. After trial and error, I finally got the winning run. The key items I had that helped me succeed was a Sp Def. Loopet with Lullaby and Warp Payback, a Slow Orb and two Reviver Seeds. I used the Slow orb to give my team a chance to move forward into the fray. The orb was shaken off by Nuzleaf and the Beheeyem on the the left, but got Yveltal and the Beheeyem in the right. After moving and attacking. Yveltal used Snarl and destroyed Celebi. But he also hit me and with RNG on my side, he was warped right next to Ampharos and Jirachi and became their sole target. Another round of attacking and we lose Espurr. Another round of exchanging blows, Mitzi hits an Ember on Yveltal and lands a burn and we managed to deafest Nuzleaf and remove a large barrier of me playing cautiously. We were hit with an Oblivion Wing and lose our heavy hitter Ampharos. Jirachi hits a Flash Cannon and Mitzy hits an Ember and I see Yveltal disappear from my screen. In my head I was like,” Holy crap this is it, I can mess up.” All that were left were the Beheeyems so I made my way to one of them and reach it. I launch an Alliance attack of Flame charge and Fury cutter in it while Jirachi uses Flash Cannon. After we attack, they retaliate and take town Jirachi and leave Mitzy on low hp. Another alliance attack and with Blaze in hand, we take down the Beheeyem. The other Beheeyem was 2 tiles away and shot a Psybeam that took down Mitzy. With that I had used my first reviver seed. I launch another alliance attack on it. After that alliance attack, I get the biggest heart attack that almost made me lose the run. The Beheeyem uses Psybeam on me and leaves me in critical condition. Remember how earlier I said that Yveltal got warped because he hit me, well that happened to the Beheeyem as he got warped into a far corner with a large gap between him, my partner, and me. We made our way down to him and since I moved and was within 4 tiles of him, got taken down by a Psybeam. With that, I use my second and last reviver beam. With it being able to attack me with Psybeam, I knew that he was in range so that I could attack with Water pulse. Each round it was me him exchanging ranged attacks and me getting scared as I see my hp go down chunk by chunk until I land the finishing blow. With that, I managed to beat Yveltal, see the cutscene after I beat him, and have my heartstrings pulled an hour later after I beat the game.
I gave myself (a chikorita) a Distant Dodge emera and threw a Ban Seed at Yveltal when he used Oblivion Wing, then I spammed Alliances, Blast Seeds, Reviver Seeds, and Oran Berries.
This boss almost made me cry, just because it's so brutal and unforgiving. I don't know how many times I tried but I almost was about to give up. Two oblivion wings can crush the entire party and I didn't had any revival seeds left. Dark matter was easy though, beat it first try. BUT SCREW THIS BOSS! ._.
I did the game as a kid and I ragequit the ENTIRE game two times, one with magmortar because I was stupid, and one time here, also because I was stupid but also because I was way too easily destroyed.
Chesnaught used pin missile! Nuzleaf/Beheyem fainted! Chesnaught uses rollout! Team attack with rollout, water pulse from Blastoise, and Thunderbolt from Ampharos! Rinse and repeat Yveltal fainted! I never expected Chespin to be so overpowered when I played this game, not gonna lie.

Hey! If anyone came here looking for advice on this fight for some reason, Use a surround wand on the first turn and the fight becomes an absolute joke. Not only does it skip over the hard part of getting everyone over to where yveltal is, but will also straight up stop him from using oblivion wing most of the time because it gives him other options for moves, and the ai just picks things at random. Even if it does use oblivion wing, it'll hit 3 pokemon tops. Honestly, after that, it's best to focus your own efforts on the beheeyem and nuzleaf. Hope this helped someone!
The most overpowered attacks from psmd in my opinion 5.The multi bone attack,with the type effect neutralyzer stone it kills everything 4. Schemenpower from geratina hits throug walls 3.Frostvolt from black kyurem because ice can hit every type and to,throug walls 2. The sicnature move from Palkia hits everything you see,not only in room 1. with far far FAR distance OBLIVION WINGS,because it 3 fields fat and ten fields long,and heals you with the half of the inflicted damage,AND ALSO HIT THROUG WALLS,even if the enemie only have 100 hp and you deal 600 damage, YOU STILL HEALING 300 HP AND ALSO HITS EVERY TYPE
Multi bone attacks sounds like Bone Rush. Shadow Force Giratina is definitely annoying. Freeze Shock is also irksome. Spacial Rend has been a pain in the bucket since the Explorers games and it’s even transcended its evil hax into Super-because it has a high critical hit ratio. Ah... and lets not forget Oblivion Wing, indeed, the wicked one of them all, I’d say. I’d add Earthquake, Earth Power and Magnitude in there since the former first one is annoying, the second can lower Special Defense, if I remember correctly and the last one can hit from magnitude 1-9 from an RNG. Never mind the STAB boosts. Contested runner up would be Dialga’s Roar of Time, Ominous Wind Drifblim, Silver Wind whatever Bug type and Ancient Power-all three can potentially make the user’s increase with each use. There’s 5 PP usage for them-ao if the Pokémon that uses them gets a stat boosts for all stats plus increased travel speed, it’s basically a game of “Can you survive with enough Reviver Seeds?”
I always felt like Beheeyem deserved to be the original Psychic/Dark-Type. Its appearances in the anime already gave that expression, but this game and especially this fight shows it the most.
I was a Treecko (/Sceptile), my partner was a Mudkip (/Swampert). I was the very last Pokémon standing with no Reviver Seeds left. Jesus, that fight might just be the hardest in all of Mystery Dungeon of you've got no Ban Seeds.

I must've just gotten lucky or something. In a game where the dungeons mop the floor with me, Yveltal and friends weren't actually much worse. I did lose a few seeds from Oblivion Wing, but overall the fight was about as mildly bumpy as any other.
After reading some of the comments I'm confused. I'm not sure why Yveltal and the others were such a pain, I just did things as normal and took down the lesser targets then wailed on Yveltal, I actually only used two reviver seeds in this fight (one for me and my partner)... then again, maybe my troubles were avoided because of the confusion orb I used to start off the fight...

You know, for a bunch of starter Pokemon in their lvl 40's they are still evolution one =| don't you think u should be able to evolve like normal? also the key is to hide behind everyone while using op far away attacks

On my first run, I managed to beat this boss on my first attempt...but I (Treecko, temporarily evolved to a Sceptile) was the last Pokémon standing. 😥
Definitely the hardest boss in Story Mode. Dark Matter was practically a joke compared to this fight... :/

I’d add Earthquake, Earth Power and Magnitude in there since the former first one is annoying, the second can lower Special Defense, if I remember correctly and the last one can hit from magnitude 1-9 from an RNG. Never mind the STAB boosts.
Contested runner up would be Dialga’s Roar of Time, Ominous Wind Drifblim, Silver Wind whatever Bug type and Ancient Power-all three can potentially make the user’s increase with each use. There’s 5 PP usage for them-ao if the Pokémon that uses them gets a stat boosts for all stats plus increased travel speed, it’s basically a game of “Can you survive with enough Reviver Seeds?”

I always felt like Beheeyem deserved to be the original Psychic/Dark-Type.
Its appearances in the anime already gave that expression, but this game and especially this fight shows it the most.
I was a Treecko (/Sceptile), my partner was a Mudkip (/Swampert). I was the very last Pokémon standing with no Reviver Seeds left.
Jesus, that fight might just be the hardest in all of Mystery Dungeon of you've got no Ban Seeds.

I must've just gotten lucky or something. In a game where the dungeons mop the floor with me, Yveltal and friends weren't actually much worse. I did lose a few seeds from Oblivion Wing, but overall the fight was about as mildly bumpy as any other.
This is such a great theme, but I imagine only a few of you dollards will get this reference.

After reading some of the comments I'm confused. I'm not sure why Yveltal and the others were such a pain, I just did things as normal and took down the lesser targets then wailed on Yveltal, I actually only used two reviver seeds in this fight (one for me and my partner)... then again, maybe my troubles were avoided because of the confusion orb I used to start off the fight...

You know, for a bunch of starter Pokemon in their lvl 40's they are still evolution one =| don't you think u should be able to evolve like normal? also the key is to hide behind everyone while using op far away attacks
Just spam wands and blast seeds, honestly. I fucked up the first time by not doing that. Also, probably target Yveltal first.
