The start is didgeridoos. They're a traditional Australian instrument, that is more or less a hollowed out branch that you blow into. Not really hippie, but definitely a unique choice as far as Pokemon soundtracks go.
I was standing outside the dungeon like "Huh, so we're gonna have a basic Fire dungeon with this somewhat low intensity mu-" *True beginning of music kicks in.* "DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN."
Me at the start of the song: Well we have a fire dungeon with smooth yet cool music. Should still be good since PMD has the best music for fire dungeons. Me when violin starts: 0_0 never mind its not smooth and cool..... IT'S INTENSE AND HYPE!
I love how the true nature of the music took a moment to kick in. It sounded like it was going to be a simple tune with percussion, but then it turns into a Celtic-style tune that's really upbeat.
I love how this song starts with simple didgeridoo and drums, sounding calm but gradually building, just like the rumbling of a volcano. Then the violin erupts with the full force of Mt. Vesuvius and drowns you in its wonderful melodic lava, complete with bagpipes!
This is right where the game started getting good. I'll never forget the moment that this song started playing and my opinion of Super Mystery Dungeon had a complete 180.
+The Phoenix I kinda disagree on that. I think it has the best start so far. You might not like it, but it's a matter of taste. I liked the cuteness and charm, likability and how genuine every emotion and moment was. The children felt real, and the scenes with your partner were some of the best moments in the game to me. I felt the partner became a bit more...generic afterwards. Sure, they matured, but became a little too perfect to me in the end. I don't like the partners in the first games, the one in Gates was better than them, and this one had a brilliant start! I still think they were the best partner so far in these games, although they fell into the "too perfect" category. My favourite part of the game (not in chapter) is the beginning (arriving in Serene village - leaving Serene village). I was utterly amazed!
+The Phoenix Sorry to say, but it's still just a matter of taste. You don't like the first 13 chapters? Fine. That's great for you! But I disagree at every thing you just said. I find the partner the most likable one in the series, especially in the first part of the game. I love the characters in all of the game. I ADORE the music, again, especially in the first half of the game. The story might not be so present, but the charm carries it miles for me. It's my favourite game from the MD games, and the first part is my favourite section of the game, though my favourite chapter comes later. I'm sorry to say, it looks like we may end up having a big discussion on this matter, and we know that no one will win, or change the other one's opinion. Let's just respect each other's thoughts on the matter, and call this discussion quits, before it becomes an argument, ok? Pals?
+The Phoenix I get it. You don't like the partner, and that's fine, I can see why. I just find them adorable and charming. I never found them annoying at all. They were just a child, and I loved the wide-eyed purity that carried through them. They acted like a real child, and who doesn't love kids?
I LOVE the variety of instrments in this track, especially that digeridoo in the beginning. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but between this and moo moo meadows, Nintendo games always do great things with violins
Me: "Yo pass the aux cord."Friend: "You better not play trash..."Me: -but seriously when I got to Fire Island I didn't want to finish the dungeon because I was jamming out hardcore.
The drums used here are like an enhanced version of what you hear in PMD2 (Explorers) examples when you can hear the drums are in dungeons such as *Mt. Horn *Sky Peak Forest *Sealed Ruin Pit *Concealed Ruins 0:52 has a PMD2 feel especially. Then you have 1:20. The drums there reminds me of PMD3's *Crags of Lament *Hazy Pass Maybe it's just me.
I remember my friend who keeps saying Sonic the hedgehog has the best themes in the entire gaming industry's reaction to me saying Super Mystery dungeon has great themes and he says "I don't like Pokemon and I know that this game doesn't have as good a theme as Sonic!" The next day he comes onto the bus with a distraught look on his face. He then says "I looked up the themes, I question Sonic now."
The soundtrack is really well made. I personally like the Bravely Series soundtrack more, but this soundtrack is one of my favorites in the gaming industry.
Sonic has had great music, even in the most recent Sonic Mania (composed by Tee Lopes, seriously look him up on youtube) and even Sonic Forces. But I do agree Pokemon Mystery Dungeon music is pretty sweet as well.
I would agree with this, but I found the Super Robot Wars franchise in 2013. Ever since then, any video game bgm I hear sounds less awesome... SRW music just utterly obliterates everything. Enjoy: th-cam.com/video/5KiLjd_7LnY/w-d-xo.html Every pilot in the series gets their own battle theme... which means over 100 pilots and over 100 themes, not counting openings, endings, event themes and bosses. Not to mention new characters keep getting added every year. You can't really beat people who can do this with a GBA: th-cam.com/video/XA_bihpiKGU/w-d-xo.htmlm39s (Yes, that is _Gameboy Advance_ music.)
I've actually noticed, that in fact, most of the PSMD soundtrack starts kinda.... odd, strange, weird. It makes you want to skip the song... However, once you *actually* get into the music, it sounds so cool and awesome. Examples? This song. Don't Give up! , Partner's Theme , Second Dark Matter Battle , and so on, but you get what I mean c:
This song has been stuck in my head on-and-off for weeks since I beat this dungeon, and it's absolutely wonderful. best track on the OST, just rockin'. Wish it played in more than one dungeon.
the beginning makes you picture a very hot and mildly marage filled area in a volcano while the other parts let you form the fast pace of exploring, fighting, and teamwork, AND I LOVE IT
"Did I not tell you that next time I won't be so merciful?" *Gets to dungeon, hears ridiculously fast paced "melody"* ...Huh. Probably should've taken the hint

When I heard this running-tempo-music while venturing through the dungeon, I knew something big was going to happen at the end of it, and holy shit I was right!
Oh yes!! My favorite music ever because of the Dungeon has 10 floors but it’s so fitting because of the Indiana Jones aspect that you’re on a Fire Island near a Volcano

I like how we jump from Australian didgeridoo to some Irish violin and Scottish bagpipes.
Sounds like Riverdance.
+lianeystudio Oh, my gods. This would be such a great song to choreograph an Irish dance routine.
+Ethan Salinas It works though, large number of the first European settlers in Australia were Irish.
+Ethan Salinas That's just what makes it epic
+Arbitrary Renaissance oh wow it would
The beat dropped harder than Latios and Latias
Correction, the beat dropped harder than you and your partner after defeating dark matter
Harder than when your partner almost got to the world tree's roots.
Correction: The beat dropped harder than me when going through the running away dungeons.
Yikes
It dropped harder than mettagross using body slam

Really nice music... usually I'm listening to metal and rock but this is awesome
This is what plays when Ireland, Scotland and Australia team up to beat the crap out of England in the parking lot of McDonalds

definitely one of the best songs in this game

they did.

That Warp Evolution when facing Entei. This game is awesome.

do you have bustling valley soundtrack?
*Beginning of the song*: Oh, it'll just be your standard dungeon theme. Maybe some flutes'll be mixed in
*32 seconds in*: Oh shoot
I LOVE the variety of instrments in this track, especially that digeridoo in the beginning. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but between this and moo moo meadows, Nintendo games always do great things with violins

Lullaby emera is a great blessing
Andrew Doudna I preferred type bulldozer myself sadly. while few and farbetween on getting one, it helped me out a lot.
Acanter13 i agree, type bulldozer makes grass starters (who would usually have shit coverage) monsters
I go with barrage
Barrage, Ally Revivier, Lullaby and Typr Bulldozer are all incredibly good emeras
Chris Sanchez
Dizzying stare is good sometimes, but having Lullaby put them to sleep making them incapable of action is better imo
