KAKIAGE; HOW TO MAKE KAKIAGE CRISPY AND TASTY.

- Kakiage is one of the Tempura dish, Japanese vegetable fritters. Tempura needs some technique to make it crispy texture and moisture inside, but this Kakiage recipe doesn't need any difficult technique. Just slice the vegetables and mix with the flour mix😊. I always make this Kakiage when I have 3 vegetables in fridge, carrot, onion and green pepper, but you can choose any vegetables that doesn't contain much water, for example, any kinds of mushrooms, sweet potato and corns. You can also add some shrimp. It can be a topping for Donburi or Udon and Soba noodle, as well😋
It's so easy and tasty!
Enjoy some taste of Japanese😊
【Ingredients】
*Carrot
*Onion
*Green pepper
*All purpose flour
*Potato starch
*Egg
*Oil

Thank you so much for your comment! I love simple and delicious dishes
Thank you so much! Here in australia we have this Japanese all-you-can-eat place named okami that serves this, and I was craving kakiage, thank you so much for this recipe!
Thank you for your comment! I hope you can enjoy Kakiage at home with my recipe😍
Oh dear god. What is this? You simply show the recipe clearly, step-by-step, silently with text on screen and no ultra-irritating "Hi guys today I'm gonna make this amazing bla bla bla" at the beginning??? This is NOT how TH-cam Works!!! But honestly, thank you SO much.
It's very different to the normal recipe, though? Each time I've made it before, I make a full batter in a bowl with water and ice and so on... and it rarely turns out well. I'm very interested to try this different approach... I'll try it now!
Thank you so much! Your comment makes me so happy because I'm trying to make my all videos simple and easy to follow all the steps🤩 I hope this recipe went better than the "full batter with water and ice"🙄
In the Philippines, there is a very similar recipe to this, which we call "Ukoy" or "Okoy". I used to live in Japan for several years, but I never had the pleasure to try kakiage when I was there, so I will try this recipe. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your comment and warm support😍
I didn't know about Ukoy but I got so many comments about Ukoy here and really want to try someday❣ Did you enjoy other Japanese foods while you've lived in Japan??

Thank I need a way to make it without parchment paper
Thank you for your comment and sorry for this late reply...
I don't use parchment paper😊
The paper one you saw in the pic is which we call "Tenshi" to use as a sheet of tempura for removing excess oil and keep crispy. You can substitute with cooking paper, but don't forget to remove it before serving😊
In Indonesia, particularly in sundanese area, we have similar dish. It's called "bala-bala".
In Solo, we called bakwan not bala-bala. The first time i heard bala-bala, when i went to tangerang.

any alternative vegetable aside from green bell pepper and onion?

Something not contains a lot of moisture can be ok, like sweet potato and pumpkin.
If you can get burdock, it's also yummy to add.
I uploaded corn Kakiage video so please check it too😊
Corn has to be careful when deep fry☝
Can i change potato starch with corn starch?

Kakiage wa oishi desu ne..😊
I wonder why you didn't season it with salt..and pepper
Thank you for your comment and your support😊
I don't season because usually I dip in a Kakiage sauce or sprinkle a bit of salt when I eat.
It's ok to season with salt when you make Kakiage batter if you don't use dipping sauce.
If you want to make sauce,
I uploaded "how to make Kakiage dipping sauce" in end of the corn kakiage video.
Please check it😊

I usually serve with dipping sauce or sprinkle with a pinch of salt,
so don't season during cooking.
But it's ok to add a pinch of salt to season😋
Add 1/2tsp of salt when you make Kakiage dough😊
You can also use Corn starch instead of Potato, just a little bit texture will differ.

How you can fried that without breaking the ingredients?!😳

Can we use corn flour or corn starch instead of potato starch 🙂
Thank you for your comment.
Actually, I've never use corn flour and corn starch, so not sure about the taste difference,
but I think it might be ok to substitute with corn starch instead of potato starch, NOT OK with corn flour😊
Also can use corn flour instead of all purpose flour.
*potato starch → ○corn starch

*all purpose flour → ○ corn flour

I eat Kakiage with Dipping sauce or salt after cooked, so no need to season. But it's ok to put a little bit of salt to emphasize vegetable sweetness👍 or if you don't make dipping sauce, then might be needed to season😊
