Even if we take the goober Twitter argument that they are doing this for some business reason, limiting ads so heavily for smaller creators just kills and long term sustainability for those channels and would force them to close shop. Therefore long term cutting the number of creators who can grow with the platform. At least that’s reassuring to the extent that if it doesn’t make business sense, then it probably is a bug, and is more likely to get fixed than if it was intentional. Still brutal that you have to go through this. Even if it is an “easier” or maybe more “fun” job it can’t be considered alright for your employer to cut your pay without notice or cause by 95% and then give no reason as to why that is the case. I really hope you and all others impacted are able to get this figured out, I’ve been watching since about 9k subs on the original channel and your content brings me joy on a daily basis. Hope this doesn’t bring too much stress to your week, keep up the good work m8!

It’s nice to have an explanation why the review videos stopped. I kept avoiding reading the cards because I kept refreshing for the Regis reviews and was so confused why they never came! This is so interesting cuz as a viewer it feels like I've been getting way more ads lately no matter what I watch, usually I'd only have to watch around 1 or 2 ads to be able to watch like 3 or 4 videos but now I'm ALWAYS getting two ads every video with many of them being unskippable 10+ second ads, it almost feels like they took the ads from some channels and gave it to other ones.
Hundreds of creators are suffering from this and the fact that everyone is from different country, different niche, face, faceless, ai, not ai, voice over, voiced. They just got a hit randomly. There is nothing common but all of them face this right after 16th Oct during the 3 min shorts were introduced...!
The thing must be a bug. The three hour a day window where ads work well suggests it’s a bug. I’ve seen bugs based on time zone differences not being properly parsed (basically things were broke a few hours each day). Bugs like this are very hard to find and fix. If a customer redeemed certain classes of entitlement on the same day the entitlement was created there was a few hour window where it would fail because our ‘day’ was still today but the entitlement was shown as starting tomorrow because somewhere handled parsing dates inconsistently. In our logs it looked ok but downstream from our log it was parsing to the wrong day a few hours each day. Turns out they were entitling based on their time zone then we were looking based on gmt and the few hours of difference were when the zones were in different days. They can hire me I know how to fix bugs like this. I don’t understand how it works for a few hours if not an unintentional major bug like this. Bad communication is a separate failure. Hope you are ok.
I really hope this is resolved, even if selfishly it's because I love your HS content :( your gameplay is fun and your reviews are insightful. I will request, are you going to stream HS at all since that is presumably not affected?

I can confirm that the 100 cost legendary drew me into that one card review when I haven't had a chance to watch the others. I also suspect that was a very organic anomaly in views.
Is this issue also impacting general impressions overall? I've noticed a big hit to mine since October 15th, but I can't tell if it's just a coincidence or not Edit: my channel is tiny, so it could just be coincidence, but I went from hundreds to thousands of impressions per stream to about 30-50
Take this for what you will, this may no longer be valid at all but I used to work at Google in TH-cam. Back then, when the devs put in a change they would do a 1% test with little oversight before going to 10% and so on. This reeks of a failed dev drop to me, one that wasn't properly tested (I did and still do work in software testing). In my mind this could easily be a bug tied to a random 1% test (and yes those tests are at random).
I'm really amazed how you just use the statistics to make valid points instead if just ranting. Made me think of an old video you once posted (or might have been an interview) where you talked about getting into streaming and how you learned the do's and don'ts based on the views if your videos. I have noticed I am RECIVING way LESS ads than usual over the last week or so as a viewer. I couldn't figure out why this was happening, it has been really nice from a viewing perspective, but I would much rather be supporting the channels I watch frequently and have a few ads. It’s actually absurdly disgusting how horribly TH-cam treats their creators. There are so many bugs that get reported, so many people will abuse their copy right system, other people will also just get zero help from the support team. Some people are trying to get a career going or some extra cash on the side with their channels but TH-cam literally just sees every content creator that isn’t in the top 1% as a waste of time.
Now I've watched this, maybe confirmation bias, but I've noticed a drop off in ads on videos the past few days. I just watched four other videos and another video had no ads at all, despite it being a popular-ish channel. Very odd. I'm in the UK but I'm assuming it's not a regional thing. Unless there's a common denominator between the channels affected, I'd guess it's a bug and it'll get fixed soon as it's got to be losing money for TH-cam. I hope so anyway.
This is happening to one of my channel since one month, (it happened on 2nd of October) I saw that invalid traffic message and my revenue just down to 50%, it's very bad coz I do lot of hard work putting out helpful tutorial videos and for nothing without mistake youtube just taking all my revenue. Very demotivating to work on youtube for small channels (under 100k sub), I better build a website and work there.
TH-cam treating their creators poorly, sadly not a new story. this stuff needs to get heard. it's a whole industry and theres all sorts of communities we have here that are affected.
Look, I'm not a network engineer, a coder, a developer of any kind. I can only draw parallels from my own job at a large company with 'customers'. Not communicating to your user base is one thing, maybe they want algorithm changes to be absolutely behind closed doors to everyone, fine. But, at the _very_ least, there should be some kind of attention given to how changes to budgeting/allocation of resources/etc might affect ANY channels after pushing updates. Someone somewhere must have pushed an update to adjust these values, and it should go without saying that those updates should be monitored intensely to ensure nothing drastic happens to any monetized channels. How something like this is not IMMEDIATELY remedied, apologized for, and retroactively back paid within days has me baffled when considering how titanic youtube is as a global power.
That really sucks Regis! Its weird, I was watching multiple of your card review videos today and there were a bunch of political ads. It seemed like more ads the normal.
TH-cam is enormous, but is bleeding money even before this issue happened, same for twitch, both platforms are actually losing more money vs bandwidth, hosting and advertisement deals. So not having ad's is a much bigger deal than you think regis. Even if google is one of THE biggest companies in the world, it still loses alot of money ever since they got youtube (not their fault, just costs are expensive on logistics). So ad's and youtube red/ premium's and subscriptions to tv are to slow the bleeding down so other products can help make the investment worthwhile to more businesses or customers.
That sucks this happened to you. I was actually a bit sad you hadn't posted more card review videos, as your videos are my favorite part of each expansion release, but I definitely understand why you didn't. I know you're trying to keep your channels separate, but I wonder if it might be a good idea to post your card review video on your main channel? I feel the marvel snap fans would understand, and that way you'd make more money than posting it here (even if you get less views).

i have to say it must really frustrate all those whose main channel get affectet. for you it is "just" one of your channels, so you have options to shift your time. YT sucks at communication. I hope they can fix it fast, because this will kill channels and ruin carriers. Spend some time with the little on. that memories can not be replaced by any money in the world.
Good luck. Facebook recently changed their algorithm drastically and it completely screwed basically all media companies there. Their reach going down with 80-90%. And that wasn’t the first time that happened over the years. Still there is nothing any of those big companies can do because they are on a platform where they agreed to basically accept that the platform controls everything. TH-cam is the same. Content Creators essentially have no rights.
Good video. I know you don't want to do it but there patreon channels from TH-cam channels that give no benefits to anyone who subscribes. On the page it's very clear that if the person supports the person, that they don't get any benefits whatsoever.
One other tidbit, I have notifications turned on and set to all for this channel and this video was not sent to me I had to seek it out. I don't know if that helps at all.
I wonder if its based on how many viewers are using add blockers. Maybe the "nerd" channels are viewed more by ppl who use add blockers than a cooking or a politics channel. Maybe YT says "ok we cant fight the add blockers, so we reduce adds on channels which are most viewed by ppl using add blockers."
My main income is from TH-cam memberships, do you think this would also nerf someone’s memberships? Cause if this happened to me literally 2/3rds of my income will be gone I’m honestly terrified

We desperately need a viable competitor to TH-cam that puts content creators first.
Now I've watched this, maybe confirmation bias, but I've noticed a drop off in ads on videos the past few days. I just watched four other videos and another video had no ads at all, despite it being a popular-ish channel. Very odd. I'm in the UK but I'm assuming it's not a regional thing. Unless there's a common denominator between the channels affected, I'd guess it's a bug and it'll get fixed soon as it's got to be losing money for TH-cam. I hope so anyway.
This is happening to one of my channel since one month, (it happened on 2nd of October) I saw that invalid traffic message and my revenue just down to 50%, it's very bad coz I do lot of hard work putting out helpful tutorial videos and for nothing without mistake youtube just taking all my revenue. Very demotivating to work on youtube for small channels (under 100k sub), I better build a website and work there.
TH-cam treating their creators poorly, sadly not a new story. this stuff needs to get heard. it's a whole industry and theres all sorts of communities we have here that are affected.
Look, I'm not a network engineer, a coder, a developer of any kind. I can only draw parallels from my own job at a large company with 'customers'.
Not communicating to your user base is one thing, maybe they want algorithm changes to be absolutely behind closed doors to everyone, fine. But, at the _very_ least, there should be some kind of attention given to how changes to budgeting/allocation of resources/etc might affect ANY channels after pushing updates. Someone somewhere must have pushed an update to adjust these values, and it should go without saying that those updates should be monitored intensely to ensure nothing drastic happens to any monetized channels. How something like this is not IMMEDIATELY remedied, apologized for, and retroactively back paid within days has me baffled when considering how titanic youtube is as a global power.

TH-cam is enormous, but is bleeding money even before this issue happened, same for twitch, both platforms are actually losing more money vs bandwidth, hosting and advertisement deals. So not having ad's is a much bigger deal than you think regis. Even if google is one of THE biggest companies in the world, it still loses alot of money ever since they got youtube (not their fault, just costs are expensive on logistics). So ad's and youtube red/ premium's and subscriptions to tv are to slow the bleeding down so other products can help make the investment worthwhile to more businesses or customers.
You had a combo channel for a bit while you were phasing in marvel snap. Why not post videos on your other channel until this is fixed?
That sucks this happened to you. I was actually a bit sad you hadn't posted more card review videos, as your videos are my favorite part of each expansion release, but I definitely understand why you didn't.
I know you're trying to keep your channels separate, but I wonder if it might be a good idea to post your card review video on your main channel? I feel the marvel snap fans would understand, and that way you'd make more money than posting it here (even if you get less views).
Glad this has only affected your 'alt" channel and you are still in good shape financially. Enjoy the extra time with your daughter. My guess as far as cause would be the update.

Regis I hope you get to read this comment - as a 'customer' I can say that I watched this video and twice during it it 'glitched' as tho it was doing a pause towatch an ad but didn't - I fast forwarded a minute however it took me back to where the pause was and continued playing - IMHO this has to be the result of the You Tube update and not the content creators - Good luck!

This has to be some sort of bug. As scummy as youtube is, they also lose money by doing this.
i have to say it must really frustrate all those whose main channel get affectet. for you it is "just" one of your channels, so you have options to shift your time. YT sucks at communication. I hope they can fix it fast, because this will kill channels and ruin carriers. Spend some time with the little on. that memories can not be replaced by any money in the world.

Good luck. Facebook recently changed their algorithm drastically and it completely screwed basically all media companies there. Their reach going down with 80-90%. And that wasn’t the first time that happened over the years.
Still there is nothing any of those big companies can do because they are on a platform where they agreed to basically accept that the platform controls everything. TH-cam is the same. Content Creators essentially have no rights.
Good video. I know you don't want to do it but there patreon channels from TH-cam channels that give no benefits to anyone who subscribes.
On the page it's very clear that if the person supports the person, that they don't get any benefits whatsoever.
One other tidbit, I have notifications turned on and set to all for this channel and this video was not sent to me I had to seek it out. I don't know if that helps at all.

I wonder if its based on how many viewers are using add blockers. Maybe the "nerd" channels are viewed more by ppl who use add blockers than a cooking or a politics channel. Maybe YT says "ok we cant fight the add blockers, so we reduce adds on channels which are most viewed by ppl using add blockers."
