I have tested both to decide which one should I choose for long term. TLDR: I have chosen the DJI OM 6. Everywherethey deify the Insta360 flow. And by sticking to the specs, yes, it is better. But during real usage I felt OM6 much more comfortable. The Flow built in tripod is usable only indoor. If the selfie stick is fully pulled out then it becomes very unstable. Putting a normal tripod on it (e.g. from OM6) it becomes a lot better. The first impression after getting them in hands is absolutely big point for DJI, it is much more comfortable. In your review at 4:34 you compare how long it takes to put then into action. But you did it wrong. You have started the Flow with a big advantage, your phone was already in your hands. In your video Insta 360 won by 3 seconds, but it took you 2-3 seconds to get out your phone from your pocket, so in reality it is a draw. Or no, DJI wins, because to normally use the Insta360 you also have to pull out the built in tripod for better grip and you have to pull out the selfie stick a little bit adjust the head. DJI already has the head adjusted in this angle, no need to set it up every time. It is surprising, that after watching a lot of reviews on these gimbals, there are major differences no one mentions. For example the weight. It is not only about the gramms. It really matters where that weight is. In DJI the battery is inside the grip. If we put on the tripod, the center of gravity also comes closer to the grip. It feels quite balanced. On Insta60 the battery is insude the arm between 2 motors. This acts as a leverage and makes the Insta360 feel more heavy. Extending the selfie stick amplifies this effect. It is really exhaisting to use Insta360 for longer period. Another annoying thing in Insta360 is that after releasing the trigger, so going back from lock mode to follow mode it somewhat recenters the rotors turning the phone to an undesired direction. In DJI after releasing the trigger it keeps its position perfectly. When going to down to hanging position or back, Insta360 very early rotates the phone by 180 degrees, ruining the shot. DJI rotates it much more later, which is good. Changing modes is terrible on Insta360. On the other side, Insta360 also have its own benefits. Some of them mentioned in the video. Manual focus is available on Insta360 too. The auto mode , bigger pan range, 360 panorama, 180 degree pan rotation, battery life are very good. So I agree that both of them are great devices, but for me the DJI was the winner mainly because of ergonomic and better handling.
Even though the flow has built in legs, this can also be a disadvantage if the legs are broken (which happened to mine). You can't buy a replacement leg (most likely) whereas it may be possible to buy the legs separately with the mobile 6 because its another piece?
I have the much older DJI OM3 and I have to say the detachable tripod has been the most useful feature - I’ve used it for turning selfie sticks into a tripod for example. The new Flow looks great though!
love your videos, I've held off for a while now I do like the hohem 6 do u know If there is a gimbal new for 2025 I just don't want to make a purchase if I know thankyou
I just scooped up OM6, and let me tell you, it is a game-changer, especially with its smart tracking feature, which totally caught my eye. I just set this bad boy down on the ground, and it starts following my kids as they zip around, which, by the way, they find absolutely hilarious! The panoramic photo mode is insane too, If you switch to the "CloneMe Panorama," you can hit that shutter button, and it takes a photo every several seconds while it pans the gimbal side to side. It snaps three photos and then stitches them together for this epic panoramic shot. It's honestly such a cool feature, and my kids are all over it - they can't get enough, and to see them engaging with tech like this is just the icing on the cake.💪🌞
Thanks! Now is flow pro available. It's covering some cons, add 360 horizontal pano function, and green led for visual feedback when you shooting youself
Great review! You tested some things that I had not even thought about - like tracking objects that change shape when you rotate them. Very useful info!
Thanks for the great video. I am left handed so I would not be comfortable with the zoom wheel on the OM6, so overall I think the Flow is the one for me. Thanks.
I use the DJI OM5 and keep the optional DJI LED Magnetic Clamp on my iPhone full time. It’s quick to put in service on the OM5 and makes a terrific iPhone (Adjustable Warm to Cool) light on demand.
I recently bought an DJI gimbal for the tracking feature and one serious con is that it doesn’t offer full body tracking in portrait mode. As a content creator who wants to show head to toe outfits or walking in environments it only tracks the shoulders up and majority of the footage at the top of the screen is the ceiling or “dead space”. It’s highly frustrating as everytime I adjust the camera down it resets immediately how I don’t want it. I don’t know what to do
there is a firmware update if you have the original OM 6 that improves the active tracking. Newer ones are sold with the active tracking firmware already updated. Maybe try that?
Thank you for this, I have heard that the app for the samsung has microjitters compared to the photo app from the same samsung. May you tell me your honest opinion? Thanks, Max
I am currently using DJI Osmo Mobile 6. The reason I got it was because it is "tiny". It snugs into my sling bag easily. BUT, the tilting/slanting from this gimbal is a bit poor and can have undesirable effects. I tend to double-click, so oftentimes, for the gimbal to get back to the correct position. You can test this, by swinging the gimbal downward so the lens faces the ground. Then swing the gimbal back up, strangely, the gimbal keeps the camera facing the ground or slanted.
I got an om5 and then switched to a flow after a few weeks of usage - turns out the osmo is pretty terrible to use if you’re a lefty, that said ergonomics of the osmo do seem better and the joystick on the flow is pretty bad (although I barely ever use it since most of the time the gimbals tracking something)
I bought the djiom6 this month for Italy trip in June because I already own all DJI stuff. The flow spin implementation is better for sure. The auto mode is also an advantage. As I see more advantages of the flow. .... something to consider purchasing as these are very affordable. I wonder does the insta360 invisible selfie-stick work with the FLOW?
Just came back from vacation and used the Flow extensively for more than a week. I found the mode switching very frustrating. Sometimes the mode would switch without me being aware of it. Not sure if it was operator error (probably) or not. I found changing the mode very frustrating. You change it by sliding your finger around the dial. Sometimes it would change easily, other times it took multiple attempts to get it to change. In generally, the tactile feel of the controls are poor. It was difficult to tell if I had actually pressed the switch or not. This resulted in some messed up shots. Finally, the tripod is a nice feature, but it isn't very sturdy. When it was windy, I stick had to hold the tripod to keep it steady. Also, when fully extended, the tripod is top heavy and falls over. The inability to use the manual mode with my Android phone was frustrating. Finally, the images weren't as steady when walking as I had hoped. All in all though, I had a lot of fun using the Flow. I guess for a consumer level gimbel and for the price, it is pretty good.
I've have a Flow which Iove. It also enables off centre tracking which I like. Does the DJI do this too? I wish it had audio gain control as on the CinemaP3 app.
How do the magnetic clamps handle phones that have a volume button at the mid point on the side. Do they press it, and if, does it cause issues? I have a Pixel 7 and like the Insta360 so if someone knows if they are compatible, that would be great. BTW - I subscribed 👍 as I enjoyed how you did this video.
Thanks for a great video. I've never bought a gimbal before and needed to see an easy to follow video about pros and cons. It was easy for me to see that the Insta360 Flow would be a better choice for my own vlogging needs thanks to you, and I greatly appreciate the video. Of course I have subscribed to your content so I can learn more, and I look forward to upping my own game thanks to the knowledge that you helped provide.
Suggestion: None of what I consider to be the better youtubers on drones ever seem to cover Controller sunscreen as excessive light can be a huge problem during sunny days. Have you considered covering such a subject and have you any experience of them yourself.
How tight it the clamp on the 360 for the iPhone Pro Max? - I find on the DJI it’s so tight it feels like it’s going to crush the phone - Puts me off I keep feeling like the screen might crack or something.
It is clear that the DJI Pocket 3 is the best handheld gimbal for vlogging and the Insta360 is the best gimbal without the camera. I have the dilemma of saving cash and buying the Insta360 flow (which offers a better gimbal) or buy the dji pocket 3. Can you do a comparison between these two mighty products?
Did anyone noticed Insta360 Flow shake at 0:43 or it is just me? If it is true than it's tripod has no use. 1:17 Insta360 Flow tripod looks unstble and fragile. While Tracking and battery is the plus of it.
Wow, surprised DJI is behind on several categories and disappointing in active tracking, especially considering they have been selling drones with this feature for years. I have noticed the problem with drone tracking when orbiting an object (when shape changes).
not sure why no youtubers ever mention the lack of manual horizon calibration on products other than DJI OM. this is quite important as you're not always gonna be in a flat surface setting
Because Insta360 seem to spend most of their marketing budget on supplying TH-camrs free products and/or sponsoring them. With that come instructions on what they can and can’t say.

What a terrific video. I found it so helpful thank you very much!
does the insta360 arm show in all of ur shots like the osmo?
Hi Matthew. Can I use the Flow for FaceTime on my iPhone 14 Pro Max?

so the port on the flow is just for charging? or is it for data also (instead of BT)?
This video is so well done. Bonus with the fun accent.

Does insta 360 not able to capture contents in HDR mode?
unfortunately no but you can use native iphone app for HDR. Tracking also works on other apps which is great

You can manually adjust the horizon calibration on the Insta360 Flow. It's under settings -> flow settings -> Horizon Adjust.

I own the Osmo. It stays in the bag because of all of its limitations. Thanks for motivating me to sell it for the Flow!
