    i plan on using the steel line that orginally fed the mech pump as my return line, just got adapt LS return 5/16 to the steel line somehow. i think i have a good adpater coming to goto fuel rail return but not sure how i will get a hose to clamp on the 3/8 as a retun now. and running all new 6an 3/8 hose for high pressure feed line from external walbro pump.

    Your using an inline pump? I ordered the sending unit and a walbro 550 but there’s no spot on sending unit to mount the walbro in the tank.?

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว

      I put the pump in the tank. Buy a sending unit from a 86 Buick Grand National or a Monte Carlo. The v6 cars used fuel injection. The sending unit will have a spot for a pump but you'll have to work on the lines where the fittings connect to the sending unit.

  • @mariecoharris7624
    @mariecoharris7624 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So what did you do with the vent line at sending unit

  • @glennmanchester1568
    @glennmanchester1568 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about when the metal line has to be attached to flaring it and using a flare fitting which is best

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That I'm not sure I can answer. I have just put an updated fuel system video online. It really goes through and explains things way better. This first video really doesn't explain enough.

    Where did u run ur vent line to brother I didn’t see u explains and if u did I’m sorry didn’t catch it

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Paul Garrido I dont think I did a very good job explaining it. I actually ran it around the side of the tank and zip tied it to the filler neck. Now I believe the gas cap needs to he swapped out with maybe a newer model or from a factory fuel injected car because I need to leave the gas cap cracked open a little to allow air in so it allows fuel to the pump. If the cap is tight it wants to suck the tank in because its pulling a lot of vacuum. And then the car shuts off because it doesn't get any fuel.

    • @johnpaulgarrido1496
      @johnpaulgarrido1496 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay so hear me out brother I have a 1988 Chevrolet Caprice that’s the first model that came out with efi but I got rid of everything and doing new because this has been my dream car so the vent line doesn’t matter where I put it because I got rid of the charcoal canister in the front I just don’t want the smell of gas coming out I have a vented gas cap

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Paul Garrido so you should be able to use all of your factory lines as they are except for the ends on the engine. Obviously you'll have to swap those over to the newer style push on fittings. Sounds like the factory vent line running up to the charcoal canister will work like it should. Now theres a hose that runs from the canister to the engine but I'm not sure what all would be involved in making that work. I guess hook it to the factory Silverado purge solenoid at the front of the intake and just leave it turned on in the computer. Should work like it was from the factory. If I get to redo mine I would like a charcoal canister in the back of the car.

    Have you had any trouble with you fuel system?

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I eventually switched to E85. The corvette style fuel filter doesn't like it. Had a lot of runability issues at idle. Switched to an aeromotive regulator and it runs a lot better.

    • @DivineSpeed

      The pump will work. You will need to use a corvette filter with the built in regulator.

      I use the same sending unit but I am using an aeromotive 340 lph pump. I plan on making a video very soon on exactly what i did.

    where do we get this relay? is there one in factor truck fuseblock/?

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a fuel pump relay in the truck fuse block or you can add a separate relay. I do not use this fuse block and harness anymore so my relay is in the back next to the battery and fuel pump.

  • @JINO187
    @JINO187 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    How did that fuel routing go. Using the factory hard metal lines and the old canister line to the rail. Any fuel starvation(bc of small line is) or leaks?

    • @JINO187
      @JINO187 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      13:13 Also you didn't use the factory regulator on the rail?

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No actually the factory fuel supply line from the tank is a 3/8" hard line so it's the same size as the Silverado engine it came from. Same with the vent return line that I used. It's 5/16". Same as the Silverado. No leaks but I am putting better fittings on the rail to adapt to an AN line to keep them from pushing off.

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did use the factory regulator but you have the option of using a corvette style fuel filter that has a built in regulator. What I like about the corvette filter is that everytime you swap filters you are also swapping for a new regulator.

    • @JINO187
      @JINO187 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you ran 2 regulators??

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the slow response. I just ran the regulator that is on the factory Silverado fuel rail.

    is a lt1 and ls swap the same????or you don't have to flash the computer on a LT1

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can be treated the same. You need to be able to bypass or delete the anti-theft system so you are allowed to start the vehicle. So yes they would both need to be flashed as far as I know. I may be wrong on the LT1

    how much money you got rapped up in it already?

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      blown5.3 I'd have to look up some prices but the I paid 400 for the truck that the engine was in, 125 for the efilive Vin license, fuel pump was free, the cost of the grand national sending unit and the lsx innovations motor mount adapters. I won't have anything wrapped up in the harness. It started last night. I still need to buy exhaust. And another turbo . So that's just for the engine. The trans I paid 400 for but I could have used a different transmission.

    Is the return line 1/4?

    • @DivineSpeed
      @DivineSpeed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is 5/16. I used the factory vent line running up the frame rail of the car as my return and it is 5/16 but that may differ from year to year on these cars. GM uses 5/16 from the factory on fuel injected cars so I try to do the same.

    • @DivineSpeed

    • @dreamworkzent8454

      @@DivineSpeed yeah bc im confused on that now. iUsed the right line as the return, not the middle line as stated in this and other videos. At the same time looking at your vid the right line has the old clamp on it and the other 2 have new clamps on them so iThink you told us one way, but did how you stated in your comment. I'm having an issue with high fuel pressure at times and have read, with no validation yet, that that thing (i'm assuming a vent or something) on that right inlet on the sending unit will cause high pressure unless you cut it off.
