The reason it is so scary is because she is 100% right. All of humanities power comes from the ability to band together. One person is not much of a threat. But 100 people could be. She didn't really underestimate her opponents. She over estimated them in most cases. She is not a hot headed villain. She is a cold calculating villain. Logical over emotional most of the time.
salems reveal, her slow transition from narrator to straight up villain was a masterstroke, showcasing someone bigger than cinder, and to top it all off, a 'human' grimm that moment and the absolute escalation of stakes it represented was the final nail in the understanding that shit had gotten REAL

Does anyone else wish that this conversation had reappeared during Jin's story. I know that it focused primarily on Oz's time allied with Salem, but what if they had met each other again, and reflected on humanity's time, with Oz hinting at how he intended to beat Salem with a 'simpler, more honest soul.' It would have been a fantastic callback to the beginning. Unless Ozpin met with Salem another time.
John King I think the conversation from the beginning of Volume 1 took place when Ozma first reincarnated and Salem told him everything that happened in the time he was gone.

ruby almost always bottles up whatever emotions are thrown at her; I predict she'll break down significantly when all of this is over and she's finally able to without putting lives at risk
She almost sounded pained when she mentioned light returning to darkness, maybe a glimpse of her descent from the white wearing good salem to the monster she is now, maybe a glimpse of regret for what she became
I imagine that the grim have a soft of hive mind, perhaps not capable of intelligence on its own, but strong enough to essentially force Salem to keep feeling emotions, to force her to tunnel vision on her hate and rage to the point that she is a human grim, as she controls grim in strategy and tactics, so they controls her emotions and thoughts, with brief moments of her fighting back likely remembering memories that cannot be corrupted or are incomprehensible to the grim like the birth of her children.
Maybe when Salem tried to use the Grimm pool to take away life, it failed. maybe she got into the wrong pool. maybe if the pool of youth gave her immortality, maybe it can undo it as well?
This is absolutely incredible. Great work. I love how you overlapped scenes from Volume 3 over Salem's second monologue. It makes her even more menacing and foreboding. Also, did you see that Shannon McCormick retweeted it? That's how I found it.
omg words can not explain how things hit the fan i was not expecting jen Taylor to voice such a demonic looking character the whole season answered some questions but ended up leaving holes in small parts. Rest in peace phyra nikos and penny you will be missed

This! Is a villain's introduction, what we thought was just a shapeless narrator was the real villain all along. And the way the monologue changes, what seemed the start of a hope inspiring speach suddenly turns in a threat and the promise to destroy said hope, leaving only despair. Salem is the perfect example of what Megamind said in his movie: The difference between a villain and a SUPERvillain is presentation.

I think her downfall will be that she failed to divide humanity as she planned since Ruby united all of Remnant against her by telling everyone the truth. They will work together and find a way to bring peace to Remnant which will ultimately result in the Gods giving humanity a positive judgement. Perhaps then they will finally release Salem and Ozma from their curse, and let them rest. Also, when is this conversation between Salem and Ozma taking place? We have yet to see it in the actual show, and it was not even alluded to in the origin flashbacks. Maybe at some point towards the end of the series, Oscar will be captured, and Salem and Ozma will have this discussion. Then, Ruby will arrive to save them and the rest of humanity.
Does anyone else get goosebumps from this? Cause I sure did, seeing everything that happened. The fall of Becon, the dragon Grimm, and worst of all the loss of Pyrrha and Penny. Being reminded of all that gave me goosebumps through the whole video.

I won't go too much into detail but suffice it to say that majority of the problem is wildly inconsistent writing. It's essentially a story written by someone with unchecked mental health problems and ADHD to boot. But trust me there's PLENTY of reasons. You can search them up if you'd like. Many people did videos on why RWBY failed to be as good as it could've been. Essentially though its the writing. It's extremely inconsistent. The tone is also a subject for some. Its got more depression packed into it than RE:ZERO, the anime that is basically depression: the anime. I really can't think of a better example of a case study for planning ahead than RWBY. There's just so much cluster fucked by progressively adding more and more to the story without paying any attention to their implications. How long did it take for Salem to be introduced? Why didn't she just go and take everything herself? She's immortal and can't even be put down for more than a few minutes to a few hours. Even if you wanted to, you couldn't ever beat her or out last her. So why didn't she just walk into these places and do her thing? Answer: cause she didn't exist then. Pre-planning basic plot points would've taken care of that... but I digress

This feels very fitting to the lore of Warhammer 40,000. Remove the Grimm and Dust and replace them with 40k topics, and it makes a harrowing parallel, imo.

It's pretty funny how Salem's monologue, primarily the second half, perfectly foreshadows RoosterTeeth's own downfall and the inevitable collapse of RWBY as a whole. They spelled it out to us nearly a decade ago, and even they didn't know it at the time. All their time and effort had been for nothing in the end, they had failed, everything they built was torn down before their very eyes, doubt was placed in the minds of their fans causing them to divide and washed away any semblance of power RoosterTeeth once had as a media entity, they didn't realize how badly they were failing at first by clinging on to their fleeting hope and aspersions, their purchase by Fullscreen was the first move of their downfall, they still have their own guardians with what few clueless loyal fans they have left who will fail with their #greenlightvolume10 hashtag, and whatever smaller projects CRWBY pick up will meet the same pitiful demise as RoosterTeeth did. The finale of Volume 3 may as well been the beginning of the end, everyone. I'm so glad I got to watch it all burn.

looking back at like a lot of season 1 and 2 I can confidently say that I believe everything going on in rwby was never a part of monty's vision. Salem existing and the voice actress being more than a narrator, The whole magic being a thing when it was said by monty in the podcasts and stuff that magic was never a thing in the universe, semblances and dust were the closest thing you'd get. Like everything feels super detached from the original story that started years ago. Is the story they're making good? Sure, but it's sure as hell isn't the rwby I was looking forward to and it's become majorly apparent the more and more I keep trying to push myself through the series. Personally I hope volume 8 closes out the story for good.
The thing about RWBY is that the creator died right when the story was shifting. Now, people just assume that the tonal shift is due to Monty's passing, when it reality his death just happened to coincide with it. Monty did plan this. Perhaps not exactly, but not far from it. If you have an open mind about it, I encourage you to watch "What WAS Monty Oum's Vision for RWBY?" from "Hypeathon". He was just a cool dude that wanted to create anime with his friends.

looking back at like a lot of season 1 and 2 I can confidently say that I believe everything going on in rwby was never a part of monty's vision. Salem existing and the voice actress being more than a narrator, The whole magic being a thing when it was said by monty in the podcasts and stuff that magic was never a thing in the universe, semblances and dust were the closest thing you'd get. Like everything feels super detached from the original story that started years ago. Is the story they're making good? Sure, but it's sure as hell isn't the rwby I was looking forward to and it's become majorly apparent the more and more I keep trying to push myself through the series. Personally I hope volume 8 closes out the story for good.
The thing about RWBY is that the creator died right when the story was shifting. Now, people just assume that the tonal shift is due to Monty's passing, when it reality his death just happened to coincide with it.
Monty did plan this. Perhaps not exactly, but not far from it. If you have an open mind about it, I encourage you to watch "What WAS Monty Oum's Vision for RWBY?" from "Hypeathon". He was just a cool dude that wanted to create anime with his friends.
