    Idle problems got you down? They got me down! The 2000 Accord has had an intermittent P1259 for VTEC failure and now a P0505 for the idle air control valve. Seems that one can cause the other so my investigation intensifies. Plus a SNAFU at the parts store turns this from a replacement to a cleaning video. Not my choice, but I roll with the punches.
    This repair will apply to most Hondas of this vintage.
    There are many ways to "skin the cat" and these are the methods that I use. Any criticisms or alternate methods posted in the comments are welcome, just keep it civil.

    The other part that you got in your hand is the one that I was speaking about for $150 or less I'm at AutoZone and that is a Duralast so that's what you got and then the other one that's $800 that's the one that you had on your right hand and that's the one that you need they are $800 in special order..

    Am I wrong, when spraying brake cleaner in there shouldn't you keep it oriented so that the electronic part[black] is kept up to minimize corosive cleaner out as much as possible?

    • @ktecgarage
      @ktecgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wouldn't hurt. It's probably bad practice but I spray carb and brake clean everywhere!

    Are the water/coolant hoses that heat up the case of the IACV necessary to be plugged in? Is it beneficial to have it heated?

    • @ktecgarage
      @ktecgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people delete the hoses, but to work as intended, it needs to heat up to operating temperature. I wouldn't do the delete.

      Check all around your throttle body for a leak. I've found two leaking throttle bodies with the same symptom since this video and replacing them with a junkyard part fixed it. If you can get your hands on a smoke machine, that is the easiest way. Even if you have to pay a shop their diagnostic fee to smoke it, I would. I finally broke down and purchased one and it has already payed for itself. Wished I had it back when I made these videos! Good luck!
