  • Lithium batteries require a different type of monitoring to determine the remaining capacity, this applies to both NMC and LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries. This shunt style battery monitor goes inline with all of the current going into and out of the battery to tell the operator how much available energy is left. This is very important! We walk through a quick understanding of the monitor and a quick setup to see it in action. Check out the links below!

    What do you think about running a battery monitor versus buying a battery with built-in Bluetooth connectivity?

    Hi are you finding the monitor is working ok. Quick question I’ve got a caravan an on the minus side of the battery is the van black lead inverter lead solar lead .. do I just take them from the battery and connect to the shunt and then the shunt to the battery.

    is that 34 hours............. or min? with everything on? I'm hoping hours. cool gadget!

      That would be hours. Those graphs don't pull very much and aren't transmitting sonar. Run times will vary!

    What charger do you recommend for the power queen?

      Something like this 10a would work well. If you want something permanently mounted, there's a few other options

    The BMS would shut the battery down before it harmed it without the shunt correct? Is it absolutely necessary to run a shunt for a trolling motor setup?

    • @goodmanfishing
      @goodmanfishing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes the BMS will protect itself, this is much like a gas gauge to see how much further you can go.
      Running a shunt and monitor is not required. But if you want to know remaining capacity on a lithium battery, you must use a shunt or Hall effect setup. A volt gauge or meter isn't sufficient

      @@goodmanfishing thank you for the quick reply! I just got the 100ah PQ gonna install it on a 55lb terrova 12v today. Definitely gonna look into the shunts to see how much life is left. I wasn’t 100% sure if the BMS would shut it down before harm was done. Thanks again!!!

    I just got one of these. I setup the AH etc in the settings. If I turn off this unit( I have it setup on my trolling motor breaker) will i have to re-input my info or will it remember my settings. I'm new to these. There isn't anything saying like to get out of the setup mode. Kinda lost in the manual for setting up correctly. I'm using a 12 volt 100ah li-time lithium.

      I would suggest putting the red small wire to the shunt before your breaker. If you typically throw the breaker when you aren't using it, that small red wire will remember your settings.

      Ok. So it needs to have power to it all the time?
      And yes. I kill my breaker to stop power to the troller motor. .

      @goodmanfishing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dwaynepippin yes, the little red wire should always be hot. 👍

      It is right now when the breaker is on. I was afraid it would put a drain on the battery if it was on all the time. Unless it auto shuts off or something when it's not being used by the trolling motor. I really appreciate your info .

      @dwaynepippin the monitor draws an extremely low amount of power to stay on.
