That think looks like a beast from the factory! I like to check piston to bore and ring gap before I put them back together. Being air cooled and as hard as it’s going to get run, a little extra clearance goes a long way, even if oil consumption goes up a tiny bit.

It would be great if you could add some sort of bench power testing to your engine builds, even if only to compare output 'power' of various engine projects. A 'poor mans' dyno could be as simple as running a hydraulic pump against pressure restriction @ GPM flow rate (I'd need to think about the setup a little more). Point is you don't need to give actual HP readings, but before/after results would be helpful. "Racing' parts suppliers are quick to toss around HP gain numbers by using their parts, but no one really knows..

I know it makes them cheaper but it would be nice to see roller bearings on the PTO side of the crank like old cast iron engines did, I've seen guys have these kinds of engines on kids class pulling tractors and ruin them because of all the load on a non roller bearing

@@RedBeardsGarage I thought I saw at some point that the 212 and 420 had aftermarket covers that used roller bearings. I'd love to try one out compared to my kohler singles and twins but the fact that some of mine are belt drive with a lot of axial load I think I would fry the crank and case

Hey red beard this older and better looking red beard. I just wanted to say I enjoy your videos , but i wanted to help a brother out. I've got factory training for a couple major motorcycle companies, and one thing both would castrate you for is using a magnet to remove or install valve spring keepers. They say and I saw it during training the keeper can become magnetized and collect metal shaving resulting in bad stuff happening. Your better off using some fine tip needle nose pliers. Have a good one !

So your saying the Stock 23hp@3600rpm with these Basic upgrades is 30% more hp? 23hp +30% = 29.9hp@3600rpm! 625cc turning 3600rpm making 23hp Dials in at 85% VE. 85% + 30% = 115% VE = 30hp@3600rpm. These Engines should be able to be turned up to 5000-5500rpm with the basic upgrades. 625cc at 85% VE at 5500rpm = 34hp, and at 115% at 5500rpm = 47hp. Max hp and continuous use hp is different. 47hp@75% = 35.25hp. 625cc at 115% VE used at 4100rpm = 35hp, use at 4500rpm = 38hp, used at 5000rpm = 42hp. What Size is the Stock 625 CAM? With the different Engine, Ceramic, Moly, Heat Dispersant Coatings, you could turn it to a higher rpm. Try one of them Cheap Laser Heat Guns next time you build one and see what your CHT & EGT are. Used at 3600rpm these Industrial Engines are rated for 1000hrs. These 625 have an Oil Filter so I take it has an Oil Pump also. Wouldn't a Billet Rod with the finger to Splash Oil like most have be better? Using the Hybrid Crank Ball Bearings, Steel Races with Ceramic Balls which needs less Oil, last 3x, Run Cooler, but do Cost more.

I am very interested in this engine for a paramotor quad. I know I can get the engine but cannot find a billet con rod. Vegas carts stopped production. Are there other con rods available? Also is not having ball bearings on the crankshaft a big deal? Also are there camshafts available?
