If you want to have your mind ABSOLUTELY BLOWN, watch Rush's live version of Xanadu. Everyone is playing multiple intruments, with Alex playing 6 and 12-string electric guitar and bass pedals, Neil playing the drum kit and a FULL compliment of orchestral percussion (using EVERY piece!), and Geddy playing bass, 6-string guitar, synths, bass pedals, AND singing! These guys took this song out on the road and had to perform this 15-minute long song perfectly, night after night after night - and they did it! No MIDI, no backing tracks, no off-stage musicians, just 3 guys playing all those instruments in a very complex song, and doing it masterfully. Until you see it, you'd swear it was impossible. Pay close attention to them switching guitar necks and playing Moog Taurus pedals with their feet, as well as Neil working all the percussion, switching sticks and mallets along the way. It's simply unreal. th-cam.com/video/VuHS-gjMiVw/w-d-xo.html
This intro was created as a means of featuring songs that they were no longer performing, either because they couldn't fit them into their set list, or because Geddy could no longer hit some of the high notes they required. And now, for another hot performance, I recommend Working Man live in Cleveland from their 2011 Time Machine Tour. 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
It'll be a hundered years before talent like this returns to Earth! Why? Because it takes hard work and dedication to adequately express such talent, and nobody wants to work anymore! Ahead of us we've got a hundred years of crap to slog through...before glory days can return.
My man. I loved your reaction. Jerry Stiller (real father of Ben Stiller), was on King of Queens and played George's father on Seinfeld. Rush stopped touring in 2015 and I'm happy to say that I was able to see them live 25 times. Peace.
Love your reactions! As one other person said the intro was five of their earlier songs and would be good to check out. Yes Geddy was playing bass and the synth pedals at the same time. He will do both and sing at the same time as well. Glad you are enjoying my favourite band. Cheers
This intro is very clever, it is part of a song from each of their first six albums in succession going into Spirit of the radio which is on their 7th album.
Yo BReau...I love your reactions!! This is a compilation of five intros, in succession, leading into Spirit of Radio. First..Anthem, Second..Bastille Day, Third, Passage to Bangkok, Fourth...Cygnus X-1:Book 1, Fifth...Cygnus X-1:Book 2. You should check out all of these songs, in full, to get a better understanding of what Rush is all about.
Loved your reaction when you realized that Geddy Lee was playing keyboards with his feet. You were priceless in that reaction. The same reaction I see from everyone else when I show them all he does while playing.
Dang brother I so enjoyed watching you with this song by Rush. Not sure if you just discovered rush or this song. My friend if this is the first song of theirs you have heard I would live to kick it with you and some Rush. I tell ya it brings back so many memories bro when I hear them and a few others it transports me to some of the most life changing and imprinting times and events of my life. Loved seeing someone e joy the music. Love and peace my friend. Keep listing. There's so much more to come.
My favourite line from The Spirit of Radio is: "But glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity". Neil Peart was such a gifted lyricist. RIP Neil.
That's Geddy Lee on Bass, Synthisizers and Vocals. And yes that's his real voice. Speaking and singing. Alex Lifeson on the other guitar. And of course the Professor himself, Neil Peart on Drums. Neil Peart wrote most of the songs for the band over the years. RIP Professor
"He's playing that shit with his foot?" Yes....yes he is. Geddy could play bass, trigger keyboard parts and sing.. you want a big sound with three guys you have to multi task. Alex added keyboard bits with his feet as well on some songs. These were three very busy guys for two to three hours ..
plus Neil would trigger tracks with his feet and Alex would cover some bass line with pedals when Geddy was too busy doing something else. Also Lerxst and Geddy could chat whilst playing because they were soul mates and had been togtehr since highschool. A massive bond between these two.
Enjoy the ride, Rush are amazing, a genuine one off, never been anything like them before and there will never be anything like them again. Just sorry that new fans like yourself can never see them live. Saw them first in 1979, Manchester Apollo theatre England, it rocked my world. Ruined all other bands concerts for me because that concert was a kind of out pf body experience. Welcome to our world, take care and relish your Rush journey
This intro is fantastic because the original songs were very tinny (except for Anthem) and Rush gave all of them new life with a newer, heavier VASTLY improved sound. Btw.. you have a great voice. You definitely have a future…

If you read into the lyrics, the intro seems like they were simulating changing the channels on the radio and finding that ONE song you stopped to listen to. Just like the song says....
Awesome reaction my friend! I'm new to your channel & I just watched your other Rush & Neil solo reactions & I'm lovin all of it! Plz react to RUSH "Working Man"-Live in Cleveland Time Machine Tour "Xanadu"-Exit Stage Left (Live 1981) Incredible must see performances!🤯 RUSH=SUBSCRIBED Til next time☮ 💯🔥💜🎼🤘 RIP Neil Peart

Yep. Opening track to a 3 hour show. Awesome

This intro is very clever, it is part of a song from each of their first six albums in succession going into Spirit of the radio which is on their 7th album.

He plays the exact same role in Seinfeld

@@Bklynreau Yep it's basically whatchamacallit ... a "medley" - except it's the intro :D
Next... "Working Man Live in Cleveland" and "YYZ Live in Rio"
on it
The actual title of this is R30 Overture, from their 30th anniv tour. And, Jerry Stiller was George's dad.
he was funny
Now, watch them live in their younger days. YYZ, Live in Rio. My all time favourite. Watch the audience sing it back to them. This song has no lyrics!
i def will!
Rio is hardly "their younger days" , it was only 9 years before this. Their younger days were the 1970s.
@@claverhouse1 Rio was 2002, R30 was 2004 - 2 years
Hot band!!! ALWAYS HAVE BEEN!! ♥ Jesus ♥
Welcome to the Rush rabbit hole. I've been here for years, brought furniture etc, and settled in.

I saw Rush three times....three different eras. R.I.P. Professor...I miss that dude.

This was a medley of songs to open their R30 tour.

Geddy Lee bassist, Alex lifeson guitarist, Neal peart drums
Neil 😉
Loved your reaction when you realized that Geddy Lee was playing keyboards with his feet. You were priceless in that reaction. The same reaction I see from everyone else when I show them all he does while playing.

My favourite line from The Spirit of Radio is:

Yes! Jerry Stillers dad was a RUSH fan! This intro features songs from their first 7 albums! Why? Because it was their 30th anniversary tour!
Watch RUSH's Documentary - Beyond the Lighted Stage.
It will give you insight into how they became RUSH.

Jerry Stiller does another intro for band for time machine tour. You have to see it..its hilarious and unexpected he is rockin.
The trifecta of all things music.
