Worth noting that in that time Apple strudel was often made with pig lard same with the cream. Landa 100% knew she was Shoshanna and forcing her to eat the strudel with cream was his way of toying with her as pig products are very much not kosher. Tarantino films are always full of these little details.
In addition, At the dairy farm, Landa grabbed one of the daughter's wrist and held it. He was checking her pulse to see if it was elevated, as he was gathering more evidence in what he already knew about them hiding Jews.
Thats why this is my go to movie react channel, great movie picks and they dont annoy me by missing half the things in the movie, it can be frustrating to watch a reaction when the people keep missing things I am waiting to see a reaction too. they catch everything.
Landa’s “leverage” at the end is that he didn’t make the phone call to stop the American soldiers from killing Hitler and the other high ranking Germans. Since he allowed the everything to go down at the theater he had made a deal to be allowed to live. Great reaction to a phenomenal movie, guys!
Christoph Waltz likely played one of the scariest villians of all time...Because on first view he seems to nice ..and then you see the monster behind the eyes lurking...nobody except Anthony Hopkins can play a villian like that. And he is equally good at playing good guys
I would like to add that this is the movie that basically made his career, because he was the only actor Tarantino could find who spoke fluent English, German, French, and Italian.
This movie is the first chapter of Quentin Tarantino's 'Revisionist-History trilogy.' Inglourious Basterds is a fictional tale about a secret US military squad who ends up wiping out every heavy hitter in the Third Reich with the help of an escaped Jewish woman who owns a movie theater in Paris. The second chapter was Django Unchained. The fictional tale of an escaped slave turned bounty hunter who kills countless slavers and burns down entire plantations trying to rescue his wife. The final chapter of the trilogy was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. A fictional account of the Sharon Tate murder at the hands of the Manson Family, which gets foiled by an address mix up that leads the killers into the path of a one man wrecking crew who also happens to be a stuntman. The trilogy is based on historical tragedies whose stories are altered to illustrate better outcomes. I'll let others debate the morality of rewriting history, but these movies are well made and highly entertaining. Great reaction guys!
Django had better performances but this is a overall better written film overall but I still think that Dinner Scene is impossible to beat!!!! The Basement scene in this film is definitely second tho
@@MLawrence-z9k i have a lot of 10/10 movies from friday to donnie darko, joint security area, audition, fight club etc. not everything has to be deep and below surface area. if its fun and memorable i have no reason to complain
I thing that is cool about this movie is they make all of the Germans dumb except for the 2 SS guys who are the 2 smartest in the film, making them very scary Especially since the main bad guy is very short & small & usually presents himself as very nice despite being evil
Tarantino was taking some editorial license in some scenes. Like the soldier that survived talking to Hitler was wearing a hat. Military members (even ours) don't wear hats indoors, and never in front of a superior. Tarantino did it here for more dramatic effect when they expose the swastika forehead.
14:43 Vichy was the capital of what was known during the War as “Vichy France”: the de facto government of France. There was a sizable resistance against the Nazis and the Vichy puppet state, and they were instrumental in making the events of Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, and this silly shenanigans like the ones slightly fictionalized for the sake of this film. When we think of jokes about the French during the world wars, it’s literally because of this. The French as a people and culture are historically fearsome, at times cruel, when it came to defending their home, whatever that may have meant depending on the situation and context for the time. There’s a downside to this: French governments are often rather unstable. Anyway, Vichy France is often seen as a voluntary puppet for the Nazis, and we hates them, Precious. There’s nothing worse than a Nazi, but a spineless Nazi collaborator comes pretty goddamn close.
This is a QT masterpiece. I’m so happy y’all watched this. Christoph Waltz is incredible as Hans Landa. He earned every bit of his Oscar. Just want to say Happy holidays gents!
One of my favorite films in the 80's was Paul Schrader's remake of the film Cat People. Hearing David Bowie's theme song for that film in this hit hard. Tarantino definitely watched the same movies I did.
I feel like the movie actress had to pop that German soldier. She was looking out for herself. When Hans said "you'll be shot for this!!!" And Aldo responded "Nah I don't think so, more like chewed out... I been chewed out before" 🤣
The soldiers in this particular area of the war had seen some pretty horrid things by this time in the war. Brutality that never leaves your mind. I did a study in 1980. Took me 9 months because I had to take breaks but I still dream about it. They had seen some of the camps. All of the cruelty.
I'm not a patreon member yet, but I'm going to when I get a chance... you guys always have good movie reactions for movies that I love. This is one of my favorite movies of all time, as my grandfather was jewish - he joined the Army and was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division, and made it to the end of the war... his unit killed lots of Germans, many of them Nazis. I still have a pistol he brought back that once belonged to a German/Wehrmacht infantry officer. He also had extended family in Lithuania who were also jewish... they were executed by Nazis at the beginning of their reign of terror. So this movie about Jewish-Americans striking back at the Nazis and killing Hitler will always have a place in my heart, even though it's a bit silly. Great movie.
People debate over the fact that Hans Landa knew it was Shoshana in the restaurant scene. I say NO! He never saw her face. He only deducted that it was her because she was the oldest, ergo tallest with a full head of flowing hair. Landa knew it was her because the others were younger, as per the French guy's description.
@@DaKidsReact My wife doesn't usually watch reactions with me, but you guys are among her favorites when you pop up on my computer screen. If it is not too personal, she was wondering if you two are brothers? I said I'd never thought of that, and didn't know.
At the dairy farm, Landa grabbed one of the daughter's wrist and held it. He was checking her pulse to see if it was elevated, as he was gathering more evidence in what he already knew about them hiding Jews. Landa also orders cream and makes Shoshana eat it, because cream is made with pork fat and is against the Jewish religion. Lt Raine didnt have a scar from a knife around his neck, it was a rope.
I love everything about this movie. It's my favorite Tarantino movie and a top 5 movie all time for me. The scene in the basement bar is my favorite scene in any movie. Cool fact, Tarantino wrote the part of Hans Landa specifically for Christoph Waltz and honestly I don't know anyone else who could play that role.
No, he didn't. When he wrote the part, he didn't know Waltz yet. He was actually having difficulty looking for someone to cast as Landa. Stop making $#!+ up, you effing m o r o n.

The head of the SS guy that plays Landa is Christoph waltz he was the co-star in Django, Django's mentor. The range of this man, the way he can go from one role well you can't help but love him to the next where are you can't help but hate him, being completely two different people is just amazing. So many actors just play the same person over and over again with just a different name
39:25 In this scene it was actually Quinton Tarantino’s “Hands” you see choking her. He wanted it to look real so instead on doing it 😅 with her consent
Great knowing that this was indeed when Germany was losing the war and knowing this Landa wanted to make a “deal” and not be held accountable for his crimes. Two of the few reactors who knew this was when the war was near its end in Europe and reason why Landa wanted to move to the US, etc. many Nazis did escape to S. America, the US, Australia etc. Many, but not all, were caught. Some were caught when they very old. I think there was one caught in New Jersey not to many years ago and none of his neighbors, co- workers, or friends he later made ever knew he had been an evil Nazi. It’s awful that we have fascism rearing its ugly head in the US now as indicated by this past election.
So many great performances in this movie. It really draws you in, even though unfortunately, the Furor didn't meet his end this way, it was a great situation for revenge for Shoshanna. Thanks for the reaction and keep up the great work ‼️ ☮️ 💜
As great as this movie is, movies like this which boil the Nazi's animosity towards Jews down to simple animalistic hatred leaves us open to the possibility of it happening again. The performance of Christoph Waltz as Colonel Hans Landa, is one of the greatests ever. What an amazing character. Terrific, classy and smart as hell.
Every time Landa grabs a woman's hand, he's feeling for her pulse. To see if she's afraid and has something to hide. Chilling.
Great call, man. I've seen this a dozen times and never noticed that detail
