The scene with the video expert is so interesting - usually Logan and Briscoe are usually trading jokes back and forth with their expert. This time, they’re all just saying what they need to say. The situation is too fraught for joking
The timing was perfect "you think she's was acting?" screams and gun shot sound "Nope" classic.
"And you see, if you zoom in close enough to the tattoo you'll actually open up a portal in time where you can see the face of the tattoo artist as he's working on it. give you a hint tattoos used to be known as coming from a certain tattoo shop. only that shop in the country would be doing that tat. even the mid 90s that was still true to a large extent.

'Zoom and enhance' even back then.
Zoom, but not enhance. That was the actual technology used, you can see the crappy pixels get bigger as they zoomed in. The "enhance" is just a color correction tool (Contrast) which can be used to make darker colors darker and brighter colors brighter. Helps see solid work like tattoos
@@mattbanka7236 ...and photo prints tend to be fairly forgiving compared to a computer monitor, but even so, in reality the tattoo would have only been a few video-lines tall and would have looked like an eye-shaped blob. I used to do a lot of video editing on computer in the late 1990's and the resolution of VHS or S-VHS is pretty bad to start with, even working with the tape from the camera which recorded it.

Because most people trust cops.
As they should.
Maybe because they want to help?
cuz back in the 90s, we either didn't know of bad cops via cameras or there weren't as many "bad" cops. Meaning, we didn't have the media constantly telling us all cops were bad because of a select few or we didn't see a cop as a bad guy unless we had something to hide. Off political- back in the 90s and before, people were more open to telling people stuff about themselves or their friends.
Because it’s a tv show. In real life most people aren’t going to be okay with a cop coming up to them and questioning them about someone especially if that person is dead.

Another great episode based on a few true stories. The part about the "snuff film" that wasn't was taken from an incident where Charlie Sheen thought he had found a real one, but it was just such a good amateur film that it worried even the cops. The part about the "Mack Rangers" was based on two schools where misogynistic slime did that very thing.. though none of them raped a girl. Of course, we have had multiple incidents of guys who recorded gang rapes....
