    Hey Rhett, one simple piece of advice before buttoning up the walls…
    Think about running plastic chase in the ceilings and the appropriate walls to make snaking any cabling or data lines, co-ax , easier in the future…. It cuts down on damage opening walls and gets you from point to point without boring holes in any framing.
    As a carpenter for a very large laboratory on Long Island, every renovation we did involved future proofing and was never a wasted effort. Plastic tube chases are inexpensive and certainly worth it. Good luck with the rest of the build. Be well.

      I'm a pro studio builder and I'd back you up on your good advice, with an additional observation: lay 3 or 4 color-coded pull-thru cords inside your pipe chases. It saves fishing them through later, and means you're ready to pull extra cable as needed.

    • @davidhaworth7152
      @davidhaworth7152 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don’t think they are that hard to find(I’m in Canada so maybe it’s different) my experience is that customers who want bespoke building, framing and finishing aren’t prepared to pay for what that type of job costs. In fact they think that they’re one off build should be in the ball park of cookie cutter builds and this is a giant hurdle. Custom, bespoke work by talented master crafts people costs money with good reason and on top of that material costs are at an all time high.

    • @bbmade
      @bbmade ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davidhaworth7152 It might vary by location. I spent 14 years slowly remodeling an old house. I did about 75% of the work myself. Every time I needed a contractor it was like pulling teeth to get someone to show up. It wasn’t about budget or complexity. It was just getting a contractor to come look at the work and tell me what it would cost. The experience continues on our new house.

    Quick comment. At about 10:30 Shane does a great job as a leader providing positive feedback and reinforcement to his team. Really good leadership. In addition to the work he and his team did to help make this project a reality, that’s the way a boss should operate, and not enough do. It goes a long ways toward making work enjoyable and not just a paycheck to have some sort of sense of pride and camaraderie and the boss participating in that.

      Honestly, that would be a topic of video that I would really enjoy as somebody with ADHD as well. I'd love to hear when his hyperfocus normally kicks in, and how he balances being overwhelmed with getting smaller, to-do tasks done

    Fantastic! Even though you lost a ton of footage, I an see the heart of it ll. Shane and his crew were awesome they came down with the "get it done" mindset. True professionals.

    Hey Rhett, I discovered you from watching Rick Beato’s channel. Been watching yours for a while now. Awesome news about your studio! Really enjoyed this. I’m on the east coast of Florida and I’m really good with low voltage wiring and terminating, soldering, etc. I’d love to help when you get to that point. Thanks again for sharing!!

    Still looking forward to seeing this studio come together…and IT WILL!

    Good builders are GOLD! They are rare, and deserve every $ that they get. Great of you to give them credit.

    Shane and his crew are rock stars. Having done a small amount of home renovation when things don’t fit quite right, what they did to get it done right is amazing to watch. Experience and work ethic.

    Hey Rhett! I am impressed... and Entertained by your studio build. I am a retired General Contractor and a guitar player of 55 years. I'm 67 now. Pretty much retired from building, but still jamming. I have built a number of studios in my day. You guys had quite a task there. Building a studio, where you need all those details of scope, regarding wiring, soundproofing, wall separation issues and all that. You did well, or are doing well. I know all the headaches you can possibly run into, moving plumbing feeds and drains, Electrical changes and all that good stuff. I"ll be looking forward to your video when all is said and done Dude! I built my studio at our home in The Poconos. It's a little bigger room than yours. I have to still build a control room and vocal booth, which I'll do as a 8X28 addition along the back wall outside. Hey, we all have fun just getting our hands dirty. Right? You will have years of enjoynent beginning soon. Hang in there. Hope you get lucky and find your content videos... now that really sucks!

    Looking forward to seeing some in depth coverage of the glass installs. As a 25 year veteran glazier, currently in Upstate New York, I've done a lot of studio work, from control room thermos and laminates for education establishments to home studios and a lot of podcast studios lately. Lots of different ideas through the years and can't wait to see how your going to approach that. Love this series and really appreciate all the videos.
