Rhett! Don’t make the same mistake I made by building your mic cable into the walls without a way to easily remove it. I built a studio and wired it into the walls. When life took a sudden turn and I had to move, all the very expensive cable was not easily removed. Instead, you can build a removable cap along the floor and run it through that, if you ever move or need to replace it, you can do so with damaging or removing the sheetrock.
Or install the cable in EMT or PVC conduit with the appropriate bend radius and a diameter large enough to include the termination plug. You should be able to pull it out by pulling it through the system the same direction it got pulled in. So if you pulled it from A to B, pull it out at B if possible to minimize problems.
Noah has such a great voice, full of character and expression. Thanks Rhett for introducing me to a genre of music I never really listened to before your channel.
Yeah and I like that the music and words are sounding more raw. Not that is wasn't before, but I like hearing the pain and struggle come thru and simplicity in the arrangement.
I think a great take away from this video is that even if we don’t have the ideal setup that we all want for recording, sometimes it’s best just to make music. You took the frustration you had with not having the studio completed and decided to do the best you could with what you had. The studio looks awesome, even in the “unfinished” state. And what you guys were able to record sounds AMAZING! Can’t wait to see how it all looks in the end! Thank you for all the great videos. They are really inspirational and motivate me to play more music!
Hey Rhett! i Love your Videos. I am a Guitarist myself playing in 2 original bands in Halle, Germany. Over the last 3 years I followed Noah Guthrie and Good Trouble through your TH-cam Channel. And now watching you guys come together as a band, I love your music even more! Bring it on!
That guitar effect at 15:04 I've heard in Ry Cooder's prodigal son: the sax player is using it. It's like a harmonizer or something. Ive always wondered what pedal that was. Maybe I'm just hearing a vibrato pedal. I think I may have heard it on Cooder's Bop Til You Drop Album as well. Which happened to be the first digitally recorded album ever released. Ever.
For some reason, I just found out about Blue Wall a few weeks ago, and it's the first record in a while that I listen more than once in the span of a few days. I usually hear a record once, like it or dislike it and move on, but there are a handful of records that pull me back in several times. Blue Wall was the latest one, which was a pleasant surprise. Great record, great playing, great tone... And now seeing more cool stuff coming... Yeah, I think this is the best band I've heard this decade... Blue Wall feels like the debut of a great band even tho I know it's not a debut. Keep doing what you are doing. It's paying off and it's showing in the music. Thank you for sharing this amazing and inspiring process!
Love Noah's voice! I was completely blown aback at his vocals and added the Spotify song. I think this live version crushes the studio though in how his voice shines.
Congrats Rhett - amazing to see it come to fruition. May you live in peace and inspiration in your new space- it looks great and I’m sure you’ll continue to add over time.
Friends are awesome! They help you get to places you never could on your own and are just as happy as you are when you arrive. I hope we all are blessed with them!
loving the "live" vibe the band has. very in the moment. and so cool to see Noah working on the lyrics/sharing what he has in mind, the options etc. thank you!
I'm loving the new songs! Noah's vocals are freakin' awesome! Congratulations on getting the studio up and running. Can't wait to see what it's like when y'all get it finished! Great work guys!
This video really conveyed that feeling of realizing you already have what you are looking for. Truly amazing all the way around, I cannot wait to see what is coming for you and the band! More session videos!
As a longtime home owner, I understand the frustration of reno projects that take forever to finish. I also know that once you’ve done a patch job to just get it done, it’s unlikely you’ll ever go back to finish it “properly.” Lucky for you though, the setup as it is, while clearly unfinished, works beautifully for these types of videos. This looked fantastic, and I’d watch the hell out of any jamming/writing sessions, concerts, or anything in that studio. Congrats. Oh, and the new songs sound fantastic. That man can sing, and the band is just as good. Look forward to the new album.
8:44 This lightbul placement gives illusion of space because of the black paint. Those carpets are inviting. Noah Guthrie is amazing singer with heart & soul.
I like what the black paint and lights did to the space. Took it from a construction site to an actual studio vibe. Looks great, and sounds great so far!!
Rhett.. brother let me tell you my story.. 2018 self taught guitar at 50. Came across your vids.. ended up playing local bars here in San Diego. In 2021 felt I wasn’t good enough so I quit the band… now getting that DESIRE BACK.. little back ground, we were good enough to be chosen to play the San Diego Fair.. but just felt inferior.. so I stepped away! You’re bringing me back brother. No formal training here, just a passion……
This was a really special video Rhett. Noah has a great voice and seeing you all play music together as a band is very inspiring. thanks for making this
Nice! That Hellfire or Rain song reminds me of the backing track used by Ask This Old House when they start working on a project. Glad to see the progress of the studio Rhett!
Thanks for sharing! Hopefully, this has shown you the light (and taken away stress) of how much more it will transform in the coming months into your dream space!
The studio is sounding great, I'm looking forward to hearing the other new songs... I look forward to the next Home Studio Build video when it comes out. Thanks for sharing!
I agree with you. The vibe is very cool in that room. I think you're onto something with the behind the scenes look at some of the creative process. Great video. Thanks
Thanks for the behind the scenes look at studio progress. Really happy for all y'all, and looking forward to new music from Noah & Co. Be good to you 🤍💛
Congrats, Rhett! And thanks for posting these videos about the process, I've really enjoyed each of them. May the studio bring you decades of great music and memories!
Amazed to see these videos for the first time and hear the name Noah Guthrie. He used to play at Lifesong Church in Greenville SC, which is where I'm based out of.
Yay, 1st tracks in the new space and they sound great! This has been a loooong haul and went way deeper into structural engineering than I ever imagined but you are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Probably satisfying to work in there. FWIW my studio interior finish was designed around 1/3 reflection, 1/3 absorption, 1/3 diffusion. Drywall is Satan to musician ears so we used barn wood slats instead. It does sound pretty great but I wish it was 2x the square footage. Plus 1 on running all AC wiring in the walls and all data and audio cables in an easily changeable floor runner. Digital technology changes quickly. Cheers!
I ran all my behind-the-wall cabling in several runs of 2" PVC conduit with long radius 90 degree ells. I also included a couple of runs of nylon masonry twine to act as fish tapes in case I want to provide additional cables in the future. It's important to avoid cramming too many cables into one conduit or else you'll have difficulty removing or adding cable. I much preferred to have multiple conduit runs with fewer cables in each than too few conduits with too many cables in each. The wall itself was comprised of removeable rough wood panels approximately 32" off the floor with chair railing at the top where it transitioned to drywall. The vertical seams were concealed by 1" x 3" wood strips in a board and batten style pattern. My logic was that the rough wood paneling with the 1" x 3" vertical strips would help with diffusion.
Great work on the studio and the music. Sure the space might not be totally ready, but you did a great job making lemonade out of lemons and it will only get better with time. Congrats, good luck, and god bless you and your group.
Rhett I’ve loved your videos for a long time now, and I’ve loved that song Rockstar for a while too. I had NO idea that was your band until today. Great song and sweet studio man!
This video reminds me so much of the Foo Fighters recording in Grohl's house. This connection, familiarity and whole vibe is awesome. Congrats on the new space!
Rhett , I do a lot of cabinet , construction , custom works, over the years we realized if we sit and think things too hard it never happens finally we decide to just get up and start going and all things will come together
This is so cool to see come together after all this time. Something really special is happening here. It would be awesome if you had artists from around the world come through and do "Rhett Sessions" with your house band. I'd come through in a heartbeat.
You all should be proud, what an achievement! And there’s nothing better than writing & playing with sounds & textures & layers & creating something that sounds awesome. Loving the sound of these songs
Rhett, thank you for allowing us to join you throughout this whole process. Been here since before the move to your new place, so happy to see how far this has come!
Yes rhett! Love the studio update. Loving the new song too. I'm waiting for the day when Andrew Masters gets to do a video of the place. Also, like for penny the studio dog!

Agreed, Ya Never know,You cant make changes easily when it is permanent
Very true. A few of the big rooms I've been in had hatches in the floors for cabling.
Excellent idea!
Or install the cable in EMT or PVC conduit with the appropriate bend radius and a diameter large enough to include the termination plug. You should be able to pull it out by pulling it through the system the same direction it got pulled in. So if you pulled it from A to B, pull it out at B if possible to minimize problems.
All kinds of external run possibilities with low/ no voltage.
This video Rhett. Honestly. So emotional. Being able to get an insight into the creation of something like this. The birth of a studio. My god.
Yeah, can't say it better than this.
It’s not just his voice, it’s how he uses it and the decisions he makes. Great singing is so much more than just the voice!
I think a great take away from this video is that even if we don’t have the ideal setup that we all want for recording, sometimes it’s best just to make music. You guys sound amazing together. Keep this up. And yeah... heavy vs dirty...big difference. Heavy is an attitude...dirty is a color.
Love Noah's voice! I was completely blown aback at his vocals and added the Spotify song. I think this live version crushes the studio though in how his voice shines.

Rhett, you’re an inspiration to all of us trying to make it in the audio production world. We love ya
loving the "live" vibe the band has. very in the moment. and so cool to see Noah working on the lyrics/sharing what he has in mind, the options etc. thank you!
It will come together don’t worry. Your doing things right that always takes longer.
This strikes me as a fine example of;" Don't let the perfect get in the way of the good". Good for you.
Very cool. The studio is evolving out of necessity and that's probably a good thing. It will have character. Rockstar is a great song.
I'm loving the new songs! Noah's vocals are freakin' awesome! Congratulations on getting the studio up and running. Can't wait to see what it's like when y'all get it finished! Great work guys!

Bro you have an amazing talented hard working group of guys, A kick ass place thats your own! Enjoy brother! let the music shine!
Love watching you grow. Your helped me through the last few years and I love enjoying your success, through you. You're such a lovely person Rett.
Painting that room black was the coolest “compromise” I’ve ever seen lol
8:44 This lightbul placement gives illusion of space because of the black paint. Those carpets are inviting.
Noah Guthrie is amazing singer with heart & soul.
I like what the black paint and lights did to the space. Took it from a construction site to an actual studio vibe. Looks great, and sounds great so far!!
I've always loved "behind the scenes" footage of recording sessions. This is very cool!
Great progress…probably this “prototyping” approach will give tons of insights for the studio final configuration
All this was wonderful,
And the songs are ,fire
Rhett.. brother let me tell you my story.. 2018 self taught guitar at 50. Came across your vids.. ended up playing local bars here in San Diego. OMG I am so happy your studio build is starting to work out. I am excited to see what you make in that space. WHAT A VIBE. ✨🤠

Great vlog! Thanks for peeling back the curtain a bit on this process. It’s been a joy to see
I'm now emotionally involved in the building of this studio! Can't wait to see and hear the awesome content and music that's gonna come out of it ;)
Man. That man can sing. Looks like the studio is coming along great.
rooting for you Rhett. loved it.
Congrats Rhett!!! The dream has come true. You must be soooo happy and also proud of what you have achieved here. Very exciting times ahead!!
Congratulations on having the ability to make your vision a reality. Best of luck and continued success.
I check back in from time to time to catch up with this studio series. Love to see new episodes turn up. Keep up the wonderful work!

Whoa Noah, love your voice! Good sounds all around, so nice job Rhett. Also, dadbods all around make me feel welcome.
Dude! Studio builds always go over … in fact, most builds, full stop. Especially with the current supply chain.
Great to see that progress is made. Hope you get the studio to be the way you envisioned it to be and then some. Cheers
Well done on figuring out how to make the space work (love the black). Your song sounds great.
Rhett really happy for you! I have been watching for some time and you've really eveolved into the real deal. Congratulations.
we need an update!
This was unreal Rhett. Brought tears to my eyes. Thx for sharing this and I can’t wait for the new stuff from you guys!

Congrats Rhett, its finally coming together! Looks great in black!
Be sure to pull extra cat 5 and other essential cables just in case you have one go bad the replacement is already there.
Awesome!!! Just awesome!!! Sounds good and looks good, thanks for sharing and taking us along the journey with you!!
hope you to finish this beautiful studio soon my best wishes
One step at a time. Well done gentlemen.
Getting going instead of waiting for perfection is definitely the way to go!
Fantastic!! Great to see the work pay off.
I am really enjoying these new songs! Please come back to Montana!
Congratulations, one step behind and a wonderful journey ahead.
I dig that! Rockstar definitely rocks.
Really great work Rhett and team! Looking forward to great work that we will see coming out of this studio!
Can't wait to listen to all the songs. Pretty great guitar tones in there :)
This video reminds me so much of the Foo Fighters recording in Grohl's house. This connection, familiarity and whole vibe is awesome. Congrats on the new space!
The Singer has a GREAT voice!
Please do more of these videos in the studio they are great 😊
Glad to see you finally using the space, it looks great already. You're almost there man, think about how it started and where it is now!
Rhett , I do a lot of cabinet , construction , custom works, over the years we realized if we sit and think things too hard it never happens finally we decide to just get up and start going and all things will come together
Very cool! Good songs, good sounds, good vibes all around.
This is great on all levels! And so nice to watch the birthing of “Rockstar!”
Great work fella. You let the perfect no longer be the enemy of the good. And it’s perfect.
With the walls and ceiling painted black, it has the feel of a concert hall.
This is so cool to see come together after all this time. Something really special is happening here. It would be awesome if you had artists from around the world come through and do "Rhett Sessions" with your house band. I'd come through in a heartbeat.
Hey, at least your 4 legged friend having a great time. Hopefully everything will work itself out soon.
I've been eagerly waiting for an update to the series, very happy to see it
+1 for the GA-20 shirt! Great band.
Doggo is the heart of any home studio. 🤘🏼❤
She’s the best studio dog.
Love seeing the behind the scenes studio construction updates !
Thanks for sharing, Rhett!
So happy to see that palce running!!!
I really love the montages at the end of the videos. It makes them hit all the more better. Keep it up!
the saturation on the vocals is amazing!
Congrats Rhett, keep pushing! we love to see you soar!
I've been following for the build but your band is actually dope! Thanks for sharing Rhett.
You all should be proud, what an achievement! And there’s nothing better than writing & playing with sounds & textures & layers & creating something that sounds awesome. Loving the sound of these songs
KILLERRR!! Thanks for sharing the journey with us Rhett et. al.
I'm impressed. Two great songs.
Thanks for the good vibes, Rhett
