We lived in Temple City literally down the street from Moffetts for a couple of years. It's a must when we go to visit relatives in the area. Always take a couple of frozen mixed chicken pot pies with us home. Moffetts is a hidden gem in the SGV.
2 Things: 1.) Liver and onions does not taste like anything else. If you are of a certain age you know the taste, otherwise it is basically an extinct dish. 2.) Best clam chowder on the West Coast can be found at Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach, CA.
Stumbled on your channel today and I’m a huge fan of pot pies. Moffets is now on my radar. FYI, best clam chowder on SoCal is Original Fish Company in Los Alamitos.
Ok, I'm going crazy & my mouth is watering over that beef pot pie with ALL that gravy on top 🔥 I don't care if the mashed potatoes & green beans aren't the best, i will still DEVOUR that pretty plate in less than 3 minutes 😂
I used to be a bit apprehensive about dining there because I heard people saying it's not a place for Asians. But, I've always had good experience there personally.
That's interesting. I was there late last year, and they didn't serve breakfast. Is that new? Many people would just stop by to pick up pot pies. And there was definitely no Mexican food either. They must have changed owners. I had a burger with a side of soup. It was fresh and tasty. If they are serving breakfast now, I need to visit again soon. Thanks.
most chinese pple have an american food phobia with prejudice and discrimination towards american recipes. theyre like scared of eating american foods, like its poison or something. one of my viet friends refuses to eat ranch dressing, he asks for soy sauce when we goto dennys. eating liver is an alibi for dilated pupils. "i was just at moffets had liver for dinner" LOL
Hi there, 1950's for sure. We share the sentiment from the SGV Tribune article that mentioned that it feels like something from the 1930's. www.sgvtribune.com/2020/12/29/best-dishes-of-2020-chicken-pot-pie-at-moffetts-family-restaurant-in-arcadia/
Look, I'm a realist, and from experience, the only thing keeping this from being an AUTHENTIC Small Town American Diner, with true Small Town American vibes is the presence of Asians. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. I'm sure the food is awesome, I'm just saying, you know?

That's awesome & agreed!

Well put! And we're going to bookmark Splash Cafe for sure. Thanks!
Definitely try Splash!
I love Moffett's. It's a nice change to all the modern fast food places around.
Agreed!
I miss the bellflower location…
As an Arcadian from the 80s, this place means everything and the burgers r good as well
@@hsientsay really?! Well take your word for it and try the burgers next time!
Moffets in Lakewood was awesome I didn't know of one in Arcadia
We learned about the other previous locations from our waitress, it's a shame that this is the last one!
Wow! I've never heard of this place! Bookmarked.
I go to Rick’s on Main at 2nd in Alhambra regularly. Also very old school diner.
@@rickm7209 Lisa grew up eating there too. But now a days, we hardly see it open.
As someone who grew up with not a lot of money, liver is DEFINITELY an acquired taste 😂. I would never eat it again no matter how it's prepared.
We can't blame you one bit and we're probably in the same boat 😂
Crazy....this right by my house! I've never been in. 😮

Thanks so much!! And now Original Fish Company is on our radar (and bookmarked!) 🙏🏻
What about Chef's Coffee Shop also in Arcadia, same vibes old school American Diner looks like it's from the 1960's.
We've passed by it so many times but never been, we're gonna have to check it out. Thanks!

Under 3 minutes sounds like competitive eating level skills 😆
That's an idea, chicken fried steak breakfast burrito…. Lisa & Peter, keep up the great work.
❤️ always, thanks!! Although we'd have a lemongrass Burd Burrito too for breakfast 😆 #rice
I like hash browns and tater tots as long as they’re crispy.
Both are winners (especially when crispy) 😄
I've been here before... Def delicious
May you have a ton of subs soon!
Thank you! We appreciate those kind words so much!
I used to be a bit apprehensive about dining there because I heard people saying it's not a place for Asians. But, I've always had good experience there personally.
Understandable. But the vibe there is definitely inviting and we had a really great experience both times!

@@mrxman581 yes they’re serving breakfast now. Their new owner/partner is their long time employee who worked there since he was a dishwasher/cook.
Legendary is a stretch. Most people don't even know this place exists.
Fair point 💯
I think sgv is San Gabriel valley
That's correct!
Why do you say the restaurant might not be around much longer?
@@mrxman581 we were referring to La Vi restaurant in Rosemead. Which is in the next video.
If you cut across or diagonal do you get more? Yup, found the Asian who failed math.
Liver … it helps clean waste from the body of an animal and human ..
Anti-cheese?! I’m out
@@omarloera86 it’s called lactose intolerance lol 😝
@ I know, it’s sucks. I have it too. But that’s so I don’t get extra cheese on anything.
good effort here, but ngl, food does not look appetizing at all. maybe the pot pies...
1000% the pot pies. We can't lie though, the liver and onions has us thinking about it still, but not in a good way 😂
