Say what you will about Banquet pot pies, but at 17, in 1970, living alone in a ratty one room apartment, working PT at night and going to high school during the day, these pies saved my bacon. They were 10 for $1.00 back then, so I'd buy 20, half chicken, half beef, which lasted me a week. I did this for over 6 month's, until I graduated, turned 18, and got a fulltime job (also got a new apartment & some pots and pans). Now 71, and rarely eat pot pies, but when I do, it's always Banquet.
I hear ya ! ! ! Sometimes cheap gets us by on a budget. I recall eating lots of Chef Boy R Dee Ravioli, and TV dinners while in college. They sometimes were $1.00 each or 2 for $1.75. Those savings allowed me gas for the car, book expenses, and a Starbucks Coffee once a week. Saving then has paid off in budgeting well and living today.
i feel the same way about tinas burritos. in my first apartment, i used to get a pack of ten for two bucks, a jar of salsa, and a block of cheese for a buck each, and that was my work lunch for the week, 2 a day. those and the wendys dollar menu kept me alive lol

That is my favorite pot pie. I used to love a few of their dinners as well. My two favorites were the herb roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and corn and the beef tips in mushroom sauce with roasted potatoes and green beans with cranberries. I used to wait until my local grocery store would put them on sale 4 or 5 for $10 and then fill my freezer with them. LOL Sadly neither of those are available anymore. They still have the country fried chicken and gravy that I used to get as well, but I stopped buying them at all when they ended my two favorites. Now I only get the chicken pot pies and occasionally their beef pot pies.
Im widowed, now live alone, and living on a fixed income, so simple inexpensive 'meals-for-one' are what I mostly eat. I like the Marie Callender large size (15 oz) pot pies. I like the creamy parmesan chicken or the plain chicken and can get them at Walmart for $3.50. I would give these pretty high marks for what you get for that price. Walmart used to carry the MC cheesy chicken & bacon pot pie but they stopped which is a shame as I really liked them too. I always bake them in the oven (not microwave) although they take an hour to cook. Thank you Paul

I make chicken pot pie from scratch on occasion with leftover chicken or turkey. As a kid a banquet pot pie was a treat. Aldi's brand chicken pot pie hits the nostalgia for me. It's better than Banquet and less expensive. A guilty pleasure I indulge now and again. Homemade is still the best though.
Oh my goodness yes Banquet used to be so good 😞. I have wanted a real good homemade one for years that was equal but then I found Marie Callander …which is pretty good. Are you willing maybe to share your homemade recipe-I’m only asking because you also had the appreciation for the Banquet - so your homemade version must be real good I’d think!
@@eyeshalfwayopeneyeshalfway2603 There are compIeteIy homemade ways and short cut ways. I use PiIIsbury Pie crust, frozen mixed vegs, chicken, and gravy in a jar if doing a short cut. Don't be fussy, just throw it together!
To keep the crust from sticking to the pans, I remove the pie from the pan and put parchment paper in the pan before returning the pie to the pan and baking. I also shape foil rings to place around the edges (when preparing in oven) to keep them from burning.
Using 350 F I never had to cover the edges to keep from burning. Plus lower temperature and longer baking the veggies cook better. Use to be Banquet eons ago 350 was what the instructions on the box said, them microwaves got people wanting such faster. And the oven temp got way too high.
i remove the pie and bake it upside down to try to bake the bottom crust, t ‘em too i cover the edge with aluminum to prevent burning. most of these brands are not available in south Idaho, unfortunately. i wish they were here AND i could AFFORD them cause i pay $2 to $5 for the little flavorless pies. Won’t eat Banquet, and dislike Marie Callendars. Amy’s bid rediculously over priced . So gave up on all of them. Most frozen dinners are also horrible. i also bake the pies Over An Hour to get the crust done.
My 16 yo dog was near the end of life and had stopped eating... I tried everything... Out of desperation I gave him a Banquet Chicken Pot Pie... He ate it... I thought, good enough... So I bought a bunch of them and gave him one every day... He didn't like the peas, but would nearly eat everything else... I continued to do this and he lived almost another whole year only eating pot pies... I know they aren't good for him, but it didn't matter at that point in his life... I loved that dog... and I still miss him... Jack ❤
I likewise buy Banquet Chicken and Turkey Pot Pies at $1/each at Walmart. Usually 6-8 at a time as I am on a fixed income too. I really like them (size wise) but the Chicken and Turkey is rubbery now that she mentioned it at a the start of this video. Would like to try another brand but it is the money.
I'm addicted to Marie Calendar's chicken pot pies. I've tried Banquet and Boston Market but keep coming back to Marie's. 8-10oz at Costco is $15.29 right now.
Whatever happened to Swanson Pot Pies? Over 4 decades ago when i was introduced to the wonderful world of cheap frozen foods, Swanson Chicken Pot Pies were my go to meal. They only came in one size(children's), had to be cooked in the oven & took forever to cook. I threw in at least 3 at a time & 3 pies were a decent meal & worth the wait. Where I live, I have only seen Banquet & Marie Calendar's in the stores. I get the Large size Marie Calendar's, in beef, chicken & turkey flavors only & am very happy with them. If the Banquet's go on sale for cheap, I am not ashamed to say I eat those too. I would love to try the other brands & would if I ever find them.
SWANSON POT PIES ARE STILL BEING SOLD IN MY AREA STORES(4 FOR $5 ON SALE) BUT WHY YOU CAN'T GET THEM IS A QUESTION YOU WILL HAVE TO ASK YOUR SUPERMARKETS MANAGER.
I love pot pies in general - I usually buy the Marie Callender ones - hope these show up in this video! Banquet ones are horrible. And I can’t find the Swanson ones here in my area of NC. I’ve found the ones from KFC are pretty good - but I do hate green peas so I pick them out first from any pot pie!!
Yes! Amish food is the best! It’s just harder to find down here in NC so I drive up to York/Lancaster, PA couple times a year for quilt shows and food!!! Born up there!!
If I'm buying pot pies, Marie Calendar Chicken Pot Pie (#3) is my go-to choice. I haven't heard of the top two choices before this video. Thank you for confirming Banquet Pot Pies being the worst on your list, as well as my list of the worst pot pie. As they say, you get what you pay for... or don't get - taste.
I used to have a Banquet turkey pot pie at Thanksgiving and at Christmas. As I live alone, I'd share the cubes of turkey with my cat, Tiger, who loved it. The last one I shared with him only had 4 cubes of turkey in it.
@@rosalindalay4499 Unfortunately, He died (17 yrs old), last year and the only cat I have left will only eat dry cat food and doesn't like people food.
Although smaller, banquet chicken and turkey pot pie are equal to / or better than most. I'm not sure why they chose the beef (which really is kind of flavorless) instead of the chicken or turkey. Their comparison isn't quite even is it? All the rest were made using poultry.
I lived on them as a kid. They actually had some veggies and turkey in them back then. Today's versions are basically gravy and a couple bits of meat. Been on the search for decent pot pies for a while now.
I got a pot pie at Boston Market about 20 years ago and there was a pube underneath the top crust, right in the middle. That location was shut down forever less than two months later.
I tried making my own chicken pot pie. I wanted something easy, quick, and enough for 2 meals. I got frozen pie crust already in a pie shell, dumped two cans Campbell's Chicken Corn Chowder soup, after draining off some of the juice into the pie crust. Covered the top with pie crust dough punching a few holes to vent, and baked in the oven. It wasn't a knock-out but was good, satisfying, and enough for another meal. Other soups can be substituted if you don't want Chicken Corn chowder.
well we like the Banquet pot pie the turkey and chicken are good But what I like to see them go back to the aluminum pan instead of the microwave one they are in now they were better it the aluminum pan
Banquet's may be listed at the bottom of your list but I still enjoy them every now and then but wouldn't mind trying Centerville pot pies though, too bad the stores around me don't carry them.
I personally like the WILLOW TREE pies myself.....Usually I like to add a 8oz. can of mixed vegetables to the pie for extra quantity as I do like lots of veggies with the chicken and gravy.......
i am a 60 y/o white man from the state of Louisiana. ive been eating pot pies for over 50 years. my favorite pot pie is and continues to be Banquet Chicken pot pie, add 1/2 to 1 slice of American cheese with a shake of salt and black pepper microwaved for 5 minutes. i mix this all together and its yummy. for $1 to $1.50 each makes a great small meal.

I like the Marie Callender chicken but with some added spices. I put the cooked pie upside down on my plate and remove the cooking tray. Then use a spoon to break through the crust at the bottom and lift it off to one side. Then add black pepper, paprika, parsley, snipped chives and cilantro. Mix the spices into the gravy and then put the bottom back on and let it sit for a few minutes. Then enjoy. - Banquet pies have msg.
I made the Banquet pies when all four kids were young. One for each…two for Dad. I would cook extra frozen mixed vegetables and added them to all. There was always enough gravy.
Back in the day... before the microwave takeover... Banquet came in tin foil trays and had a decent quality of filling and the crust was delicious also...oh well...

I used to work in a place that made food boxes for many companies, among them ConAgra. Now, ConAgra makes a large majority of the standalone round pot pies on the market. Same filling lines, different boxes depending on brand and/or flavor. They make most store brands as well as Marie Callender, Banquet, Swanson, etc. Since they are made on the same equipment, on the same production lines, using basically the same ingredient lists, they shouldn't vary all that much. Time spent in shipment, incidental thawing during shipping and stocking, freezer conditions, and consumer expectations/bias are also factors.

Not sure if I've seen Boston Market pot pies but Banquet and Marie Callender's definitely. All the rest I've never seen or ever heard of till this video. I'm originally from Southern California and now live in western Colorado and still none of the other brands listed. I made my own 9" pot pie and it turned out great.
I've never heard of most of these either. I've lived in the central Midwest all my life and all I've heard of id Marie Calendar's and Banquette. Must be a regional thing.
I miss the tuna pot pies, from back in the time that meant no meat on Fridays, for Catholics. Then, Fridays were a choice between fried fish, tuna casserole and tuna pot pie.
I like Banquet pot pies. I can afford them and not starve to death which is my #1goal! It must be great to be so rich you make your choices off very best taste or less salt, etc. Some of us don't care much!
@@ruthanneperry1623 True. The Stouffers French bread pizza used to be amazing. I tried one not long ago after years of not eating one and it was a big let-down.
I had a Marie Calendar turkey pot pie yesterday. My family like the turkey the best, but they have changed the recipe. It looked nothing like the one pictured in your video. Pastry didn't puff up like it use to, hardly any gravy, really a disappointment. Growing up we had Swanson pot pies, I wish they still made them.
I have seen sone Swansons, maybe just desert, though when I googled it said I could order it from door dash,Uber or instacart. Just can’t figure out where they are getting it from.
It might be because I grew up with eating the Bacquet pot pie, but I actually liked them. I mean they are not the best ever, but for a cheap pot pie they were perty good. I actually liked the bottom crust as all that gravy soaked the crust and made it just a bit better than the other brands.
Banquet is the only one on this list worth buying. Far better than any of the other imposters. I've been buying and enjoying Banquet Turkey Pot Pies for over 40+ years.

I usually make a potroast in my crock pot and then make it into pies with store bought crust. I still have some turkey pies left from Thanksgiving in there now but it is time to make another roast. Yum. I find homemade pretty easy, much cheaper and NEVER ANY PEAS lol As far as store bought, Marie Calander's is the best and the chicken pot pie over a small baked potato with sour cream on top is pot pie deluxe, I highly recommend it.
Early in the video is a picture of the ingredients in a banquet pot pie. A few years back I ate one and kept track of the meat, potatoes, carrots and peas in it. They would have all fit comfortably in a tablespoon. Growing up in the fifties/sixties I ate a lot of swanson tv dinners. As I recall their small pot pies were great and enough food to fill me up for lunch. Their dinners were as good as eating at home and had a wider variety than what we ate at home. I think a lot of it was they were sold in foil and you had to cook them in an oven for an hour to get them ready. Same with the pot pies. You'd open athe dinners up and the peas were plump and steaming. The mashed potatoes rich like fresh mashed potatoes. Lots of meat like the turkey dinners had three nice thick slices. You even got cranberry sauce with them. It's sad that they actually can sell the pot pies banquet produces today. Less ingredients and cooked in the microwave for convenience means that the food simply isn't worth the trouble of cooking it.
NO ONE (that I know of anyways) likes the Banquet Beef ones. They are nasty. And if you are buying frozen pot pies then you really aren't worried about calories, salt or it being healthy because that they're not. And sorry but the Marie Calendar Pot Pie is #1 to me. Those things are great just a little expensive. And sorry but I'm not paying $80 for a pot pie! I don't care how good it may be.
They still do, but there are far fewer of them. Mismanagement nearly killed the company. Some of the franchise owners and a few of the mid-level corporate people tightened the belts, and started the frozen food division to shore up a core-set of stores. They are expanding again, but slowly enough so the company doesn't fail again.
Although smaller, banquet chicken and turkey pot pie are equal to / or better than most. I'm not sure why they chose the beef (which really is kind of flavorless) instead of the chicken or turkey. Their comparison isn't quite even is it? All the rest were made using poultry.
I really enjoyed this video about pot pies. That being said I have to put in my vote for Banquet they’re both economical $1.05 and easy to prepare. I know they don’t come close to the more expensive Marie Callender pies which I also love and buy on occasion but when you’re on a tight budget you buy what you can afford.
Great video. Though you guys should have tried all the same flavor, like all chicken or all beef. That would make the comparison better. ANYWAY, I've tried several and now the only one I buy is Marie Calendar. It tastes the best and seems to have the best ingredient's. I'd like to try the last one but have never heard of it or seen it anywhere. They could ALL cut down on the salt content!
I have bought Marie Call pot pies for awhile....but came to realize that the pie was more crust then filling, with little amount gravy...so stuck with some of their other meal type products...
Callendar's beef pot pies used to be fantastic: big chunks of beef in a thick gravy. The last one I had, the "gravy" was a bullion cube in a half cup of water, the beef tasted (and smelled) rancid, and gave me a nasty case of explosive diarrhea. Never again!!
I looked them up also. Starting price around $80.00 for 2 pies of unknown size OMG. Around $40.00 each pie, I thought inflation had gotten bad but who wants to pay that for a frozen pot pie? No wonder they won the contest when they are compared to pies that cost $7.00 in the market. Maybe they are bigger but still. I pay $6.00 for a Blakes Chicken pie and always feel like that the price is too high. @@mortimergladbreath
It’s super easy to make a pot pie. Put cooked meat, mixed vegetables and a can of cream soup into an oven proof skillet or pie pan. Mix up. Put a premade pie crust over it. Poke a few air vents in the crust and bake about 375 degrees until it’s golden brown and bubbly. Voila. A pot pie.
Marie Callender’s are the best, I always pick up a case of them at Sam's Club when they are on sale with instant savings a few times a year and keep them in the chest freezer.
The top 2 aren't readily available in nationwide grocery stores - not even sure why you would include them alongside the others. #3 Marie Callender's definitely is readily available and is a delicious choice. Gotta say, though, I grew up on Banquet and still appreciate their affordability and pretty decent taste for the price.
I just checked the Centerville website for prices. Their "large" chicken pot pie which serves 4-6 costs $80 each. No kidding. That is what they cost on the website. We're talking 80 god da*n dollars for one pot pie. Ridiculous
The last Marie's I bought was all juice and very little meat/veggies. The Boston's are still well filled. Hope it stays that way as I like to keep some on hand for a quick meal after running errands.
Their breakfast pot pies are really great, especially if you bake a potato, squash it on a plate with pat of butter and salt and pepper and mix the pot pie on top. The pies are good served over rice too.
What timing. I'd been looking at the frozen pot pies at the store, and I knew I wasn't very happy with Banquet the last couple of times I had gotten it, and I keep looking Marie Callender's and wondering if it's worth the extra price. Even more coincidental, though, is that I decided to make a pot pie at home, although I cheated by using tortillas for the crust. It actually came out pretty good. And it was a big 9" pie pan, so not a small pot pie. I will have to give Marie Callender's a try, but I might be better off just making my own pot pies at home.
they are not worth the money when you can get fresh-made, never-frozen pies from your store's deli. my store sells them for $3.99 when on sale and they totally smoke anything that comes from the frozen section. sometimes, when i see them in the weekly ad, i order up 3 or 4 of them (no added salt) over the phone. my girls always know it's me (it's a small albertson's in a small town) and i get them for the sale price when theyre ready. they even hold them in their cooler so theyre not frozen. try it- don't go frozen if you don't have to- it makes the crust soooo much better.
@@tommurphy4307 Albertson's? We used to have one of those, but not for several years now. I don't know any local store that has fresh-made pot pies, but I'll keep a lookout.
My wife just purchased a really big chicken pot pie from Sam's club a week ago. It took me 1 1/2 hours to bake it, but it was a 10 out 10 as far as we are concerned. She thought we would have a lot to freeze. She was wrong as it was gone in 3-4 days. Shalom
Centerville pies are made in Cape Cod. I got it once. It was enjoyable but TOO expensive for my wallet! Pot pies was always a go to when your budget was very tight.
RIP, Pepperidge Farm pot pies. Those were my favorite. Had the puff pastry crust and the inside ingredients were better (not by miles) than my current favorite "Marie Calenders". Though I prefer the beef pot pie.
I actually really like the Banquet pies, and they're about a dollar each. When there's not much else and you're broke but still want something hot, they're delicious.
Yes! I was waiting for you to get to my favorite, Marie Calendar's. So delicious! And the 1lb pie is just the right size for me. When I microwave one at 1130am at work, all of my coworkers comment on the great smell and end up hungry for early lunch too. They're great nude or with a dash of Tabasco.
Years ago, the banquet pot pies were very good; rich, brown gravy and loaded with carrots, potatoes, peas, onion, and meat. Over time they've continued to deteriorate and the last ones I bought (3 or4 years ago) were nothing but a top crust (no bottom crust) a little watery gravy, and a few tiny pieces of shredded veggies. Personally, I wish they'd go back to making them edible and raise the price when necessary.
Not sure holding the cheap Banquet pot pie to a comparison of a pie that is, per serving, exponentially more expensive is a great comparison. I don't believe anyone would be buying a Banquet frozen meal believing they're getting premium quality. Sometimes it's all people can afford, so I give Banquet a thumbs up for that.
I want to know how much Marie Callender paid her to say good things about them. I even sent the factory a letter complaining about how dry it was and they said they check into it they never did. I tried one year later it was the same.
I like those banquet pies but you need 3 of them to get full. They are much better in the oven but who wants to wait 35 minutes when you can eat it in 8? As for taste I add my own seasonings.
I've never heard of nor seen Centerville Pot Pies. Wish I could find them in our stores. The only good ones that I can get are Marie Calendar's. I really liked the Kentucky Fried Chicken pot pies, but most of their stores around here have gone bye bye, unfortunately!
I love it and buy it 2 or 3 times a year! Unfortunately it is seasonal and not available all year. Also, it is only available in the large family size.
I you have a pot pie that the back of the box has a list of ingredients that covers the entire length of the package it's best to leave this product line in the store freezer. Pot pie = Fresh meat, fresh vegetables, fresh butter pie crust, fresh meat gravy, bake until golden brown and season to taste. No need for all the salts, food dye, and various chemicals that enhance preservation. Basic ingredients and a 10 year old grandchild can make a flavorful meat pot pie.
There will always be better when you want to spend more. Honestly don't need to look further than Banquet. They provide, warmth taste and filling. (But the last pie featured looks pretty inviting.)
Stouffers was the top of my list, but it was discontinued during Covid, and hasn't returned. FYI - I don't have Willow Tree or Centerville Pie in my area, so I never tried them. I DID try Boston Market. It tasted like disappointment. Hardly anything but a few chicken chucks in the Boston Market pie. Trace amounts of tiny veggie pieces, and no gravy. It was just sad. Banquet, Blake's, and Mrs. Budd's were ranked correctly - don't waste your money.
Yes! I loved the Stouffer’s chicken pot pies. So savory and satisfying. Good flaky crust, too! Why or why, Stouffer’s did you discontinue this offering? Bring it back, damn it!
When you say Willow Tree is “available in most stores”, where are you talking about? I can find none are available in my area. Looks like an east coast thing? Anybody in Oregon heard of them?
Willow Tree is/ was based in MA. Years ago, the man who owned it used to sell eggs from his chickens in my neighborhood. This was back in the 60's. We had the egg man, bread man, milk man, fruit and veg man. Most women were housewives and home in the daytime. Some, like my mother, didn't drive. The pies came out in the 70's. Not sure if the same family owns the business. I don't think it ever went beyond New England. One pie will feed a family, they're big. They don't have veg in them, just chicken, and they are expensive these days. I'd rather make my own. I use refrigerated pie crust (1/2 the price of name brand at Aldi's) canned chicken, mixed veggies (frozen, but thaw them) and a can of cream of chicken soup. Mix broth from the can with the soup. You can use leftover chicken, turkey, or beef. Bake at 425 degrees for one hour. Comes out great, hubby loves it.
For a price, you can mail order Centerville. They look so good it might be worth ordering a couple as a treat. Their "pie menu" looks amazing.... I want to try them all! I've been a pot pie lover since a kid when Morton's were 4 for $1.
I think it was by Banquet but, there used to be a vegetable pot pie with a cheesy sauce. It was wonderful! I've tried Amy's veg pie but it just didn't feel as hearty as the older pie I used to eat. Maybe one day a company will make a similar (note: not tofu or vegan) pie.
The turkey pies are my favorite. Especially the Marie Callender ones. I wish they sold the turkey ones in bulk at Costco or Sam’s club, but it’s always the chicken. 😞
I don’t buy Banquet pot pies. Marie Callendars are good but a bit dry. When I bake them I always use a can of cream of chicken soup (with milk) added for more sauce.
What happened to Swason's? Much better than your bottom five with more thick gravy than most. I'll try your top two and see if they are better than my 1-2 of Marie Callander's and Swanson's. Banquet Pot Pies, like everything in their inventory, is bottom of the barrel. I would have mentioned cost as a factor in their ranking.
Are there any pot pies that you think deserve a spot on this list?
I like Marie Calenders.

Schwann's pot pies. I never see them included in of the best frozen food comparisons.
What about Stouffers?
Say what you will about Banquet pot pies, but at 17, in 1970, living alone in a ratty one room apartment, working PT at night and going to high school during the day, these pies saved my bacon. They were 10 for $1.00 back then, so I'd buy 20, half chicken, half beef, which lasted me a week. I did this for over 6 month's, until I graduated, turned 18, and got a fulltime job (also got a new apartment & some pots and pans). Now 71, and rarely eat pot pies, but when I do, it's always Banquet.
Your parents sound like real winners. I’m sorry you had to experience that.
I hear ya ! ! ! Sometimes cheap gets us by on a budget. I recall eating lots of Chef Boy R Dee Ravioli, and TV dinners while in college. They sometimes were $1.00 each or 2 for $1.75.
Thank you

Marie Calendar’s are the best, but their nutritional info is a NIGHTMARE!
WAY too much crust
Marie Callendars are definitely the best, but way too salty! The sodium content is ridiculous!

To keep the crust from sticking to the pans, I remove the pie from the pan and put parchment paper in the pan before returning the pie to the pan and baking. I also shape foil rings to place around the edges (when preparing in oven) to keep them from burning.
Brilliant!
Using 350 F I never had to cover the edges to keep from burning. Plus lower temperature and longer baking the veggies cook better. Use to be Banquet eons ago 350 was what the instructions on the box said, them microwaves got people wanting such faster. And the oven temp got way too high.
Good idea!! Thanks!
i remove the pie and bake it upside down to try to bake the bottom crust, t ‘em too i cover the edge with aluminum to prevent burning. most of these brands are not available in south Idaho, unfortunately. i wish they were here AND i could AFFORD them cause i pay $2 to $5 for the little flavorless pies. Won’t eat Banquet, and dislike Marie Callendars. Amy’s bid rediculously over priced . So gave up on all of them. Most frozen dinners are also horrible. i also bake the pies Over An Hour to get the crust done.
I spray the pan with Pam. Sometimes the darn pie doesn't want to come out.

I really like the banquet turkey and the chicken pot pies. The beef not so much.
I like chicken pot pies too🐣🐤🐥🐓🐔 but I love the CRUST🥧
Turkey for me, but yeah...

They contain LARD, PORK FAT, for those that don't eat pork or it's by-products.
I remember when they were 49 cents each.

Boston Market and Marie Calendars are among my favorites.
Boston Market just declared bankruptcy...
I got a pot pie at Boston Market about 20 years ago and there was a pube underneath the top crust, right in the middle. That location was shut down forever less than two months later.
The top two must be regional as I’ve never heard of either but the Centerville pot pie sure does look good!!!
At $80 for a chicken pot pie, it better be!!
I do the same, but I use Campbells Cream of Chicken soup, leftover chicken, and a package of frozen veggies.
well we like the Banquet pot pie the turkey and chicken are good But what I like to see them go back to the aluminum pan instead of the microwave one they are in now they were better it the aluminum pan
Banquet's may be listed at the bottom of your list but I still enjoy them every now and then but wouldn't mind trying Centerville pot pies though, too bad the stores around me don't carry them.

Mix the spices into the gravy and then put the bottom back on and let it sit for a few minutes. Then enjoy.

It might be because I grew up with eating the Bacquet pot pie, but I actually liked them. I mean they are not the best ever, but for a cheap pot pie they were perty good. I actually liked the bottom crust as all that gravy soaked the crust and made it just a bit better than the other brands.

Less ingredients and cooked in the microwave for convenience means that the food simply isn't worth the trouble of cooking it.
i remember when banquet stated making pot pies with no lower crust, but that didn't last long cuz everybody bitched about it.
Boston Market had restaurants when I was growing up
They still do, but there are far fewer of them. Mismanagement nearly killed the company. Some of the franchise owners and a few of the mid-level corporate people tightened the belts, and started the frozen food division to shore up a core-set of stores. They are expanding again, but slowly enough so the company doesn't fail again.
Marie Callendar had good restaurants until some years back - then, they disappeared. I think it was due to wage inflation.
They declared bankruptcy last year. All their stores are closing in Palm Beach County.

Callendar's beef pot pies used to be fantastic: big chunks of beef in a thick gravy. The last one I had, the "gravy" was a bullion cube in a half cup of water, the beef tasted (and smelled) rancid, and gave me a nasty case of explosive diarrhea. Never again!!

not only that but meat and gravy only, no vegies. I could do that at home for about 7 dollars. What a rip off.

I'm eating a Banquet broccoli as I write and it has a bottom crust. Very tasty!
Pot pies are actually pretty easy to make from scratch. The hardest part is the pastry.
You know it! 👍👍
You can buy pre-made frozen crusts that are actually worth it.
@@richardpare3538 but homemade crust...🤤
@@ToudaHell Yea, homemade is (almost) always best, but for fast and easy, it is hard to beat some of the crusts that are available!
@@richardpare3538. I’ve known some home cooks where homemade is never the best
Marie’s is the best
I've never heard of nor seen Centerville Pot Pies. Wish I could find them in our stores. The only good ones that I can get are Marie Calendar's. I really liked the Kentucky Fried Chicken pot pies, but most of their stores around here have gone bye bye, unfortunately!
I have only tried Marie Callender's and it was terrible compared to KFC.
Just go to Costco and get their chicken pot pie.
and don't forget that $60 a year cover charge!
@@mikezylstra7514 the video isn't about pricing.
Is therteany processed food products worth my time? No.
I always liked the Stouffers pot pies the best too. I was SO disappointed when they disappeared. To me, the others just don't compare.
For beef pie, use cream of mushroom soup with a tablespoon or so of Worcester sauce or steak sauce mixed in and some canned beef broth for the gravy.
Haven't heard of them in Central Florida.
How are the top 2 on top if you can't get them?
For a price, you can mail order Centerville. They look so good it might be worth ordering a couple as a treat. Their "pie menu" looks amazing.... I want to try them all! I've been a pot pie lover since a kid when Morton's were 4 for $1.
I think it was by Banquet but, there used to be a vegetable pot pie with a cheesy sauce. It was wonderful! I've tried Amy's veg pie but it just didn't feel as hearty as the older pie I used to eat. Maybe one day a company will make a similar (note: not tofu or vegan) pie.
I think it was Marie calendar’s. It was tasty. Haven’t purchased pot pies for a few years…
The Turkey pies are usually best.
The turkey pies are my favorite. Especially the Marie Callender ones. I wish they sold the turkey ones in bulk at Costco or Sam’s club, but it’s always the chicken. 😞
I started making my own using "Dano's" recipe. Turned out better than anything out there!
I've never seen Willow or Centerville pot pies in any store.
I really like Willow Tree. I get the one with veggies. They also make an all-meat one. Their pies are white meat with plenty of gravy.
Where are these pies - I’ve never heard of this brand!
Which grocery store stock these?
Where can I find Centerville Pot Pies?
Don't wast you're time. They're not worth seeking out. And overpriced too!
May be local to New England. I watch for sales. At $10 ea (family size) they’re chocked full of REAL shredded chicken and are excellent in every way.
