  • It's been forever since I made a video showing the garden tractor side of Farpoint Farms. Well, here is the first of many. Spring is coming and that means that the driveway will need to be fixed. Freeze and thaw plus those early spring rains ruin our driveway and as a result, the box blade and the tractor will get a lot of use to fix it up.

    I see you have the "Survivors will be shot again" sign. I saw that on a tree in the driveway of a home I was making a delivery to about 20 years ago. Best sign I ever saw.

    Comment number two! Lol ignore the haters. We have a small farm and we have five farm tractors and two Ford garden tractors and we use the garden tractors for as much farm work as the big fellas. Garden tractors have their place for sure

    I am so glad to see that you still have the Husqvarna GT. I don't remember why, but i had thought that you had gotten rid of it after you got the BX and it broke my heart. You were the main inspiration and motivator that convinced me to get my 2021 TS354XD and build it into the sexy orange beast that it is today. I also often refer people to your videos when they have doubts on what these things are truly capable of. It doesn't hurt that you are a fellow North Carolinian, (I live in Mooresville NC) which gives you an extra level of credibility, lol. I always tell them that if anyone has ever put the new Husqvarna GTs to the test it is you because you have definitely put it through everything and shown what they really can do. Plus by going orange we did it for half the price of one of those green things! I would say the name, but I throw up in my mouth a little bit every time I try, 😝 lol!! Orange tractor pride!!! Haha.

      This is my second one, I put so many hours on the first one that it was time to retire it to a life of less work. Thank you for the referrals to the channel, I do like to show people what things can really do and how to maintain them so they will continue to do them.

    Nice equipment ! No doubt it paid for itself in no time , doing maintenance with that is cheaper than paying someone to re- grade and gravel a driveway

    I love everything about this.
    I’m starting a homestead and I have a small mower like this one.
    Do you know if the John Deere s110 might have similar capabilities. Specifically in regards with the front loader and scraper you have?

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Every bit of this stuff will work fine with the 110.

    Why not use the Kubota BX now that you have it? However, I love how you do a lot with a garden tractor! They are machines that are of extreme value. A new BX must be almost $20K new! I just bought a Craftsman GT6000 based on your videos...only $300 and runs fine!

      The tractor is great for many things but it is easier to use this with the garden tractor for the smaller jobs, If I was doing this with a ton more gravel I would use the tractor.

  • @zigsrig
    @zigsrig 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Curious what the specs are on your tractor/mower. Do you use the bucket to distribute the gravel? I'm considering some mowers and not sure whether the entry-level 46"/22HP will work or do I need to get into the bigger ones with more power, bigger wheels, locking differential. Any input would be great!

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The lesser model ones tend to have weaker frames so just keep that in mind. Look at ones that have the higher rated transmissions. Most of the smaller ones have the lower grade ones and they won't hold up in the long run. Larger engines will give you more power to move stuff. Really stay away from the mowers that don't have oil filters, you will kill the engine pretty quick moving gravel with them .

    Great video! I like your setup, which is something I'll put together soon. Do you think this will work for grading a bumpy field. I don't need perfection, I just need a cheap way to level it so mowing will be easier. Thanks

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe- It really depends on the soil and how compacted it is- If it is rock hard, maybe not- it might do more damage to the mower than it's worth

    I’m Needing to order one witch is heavier duty Brinly or the Agro fab? I built a tiller from scratch last year now I need something to move some dirt around

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The agri fab is pretty tough, we had a brinly at one point and it was pretty good as well- until the rock that just would not move (by rock I really mean boulder) in the driveway.

    I'm looking at tools to add to the garden tractor, now that I've figured out it's not called a gt anymore for husqvarna, it's the 354 series. those implements are NOT cheap! scoop, $1k, tiller, $700. Which? 48 in or 54 in deck? I want the most powerful gt. I won't be using to mow.
