Sir, your videos are so helpful. Your production of them is spot on: No annoying music; everything in focus; perfect audio levels, clear & concise instructions...the list goes on. Thank you for making these.
Hello Sir. I recently purchase a property and it came with the same model lawn tractor. This has been the most thorough and easy to follow step-by-step tutorial. Thank you very much and be well.
That.pre fliter is a great idea to keep the paper filter nice and clean the discharge side of the mower deck needs to be the same height as the trim side plus the Ball bearings for the front wheels make them roll much better than the.bushings I even installed the poor man steering kit on my craftsman ys mower and the.poulan XT mower
As far as trying to raise the deck( also for ease of loading on trailers) I would like to find someone who has gone to a bit bigger tire/wheels size. I have my deck raised as high as it will go without throwing a belt, and I barely get a 3" cut! Not many riding mowers achieve 3" cuts, go figure. I also have the YTH22V46 Husqvarna. I also have used the two bagger system for mowing and vacuuming grass clippings with previous mowers and saw a triple bagger this time during the purchase of my tractor and after I mounted everything to a perfect fit and function, I saw that the triple bagger is for the 48" + mowers. I had no difficulties mounting and using that bag system on my 46" and it's great going that extra distance without stopping to empty a bag often.... I'm glad I accidently found this out. Generally 2 baggers are for 46" and less while triple baggers are for 48" and more. Hope this helps anyone.
I just added that 2nd adjustable mower rod to my Husqvarna. I couldn't find any online. However, the dealer had one for under $15.00. They laughed when I said I saw one online for $40 but they were out of stock. I gained a 1/2" in height, however, it's better than nothing. All mowers should have the capability to cut 5" or higher in my opinion. Some times you got to go into the weeds!
Mine only goes to 3.5 inches. I was a noob and asked the dealer for a recommendation about what would work for my pasture. They sold me the more expensive GT XLS52 inch stamped deck mower. The stamped deck is nice, but overall the machine underperforms for the purpose for which I bought it
After going through multiple bearings and finally destroying the inner bore of the rims, I bought new rims and went back to bushings. The single row ball bearings cannot handle the side loads from turning. Bushings handle more load and work great if you keep them greased.
Thanks for the heads up! You’re right. Bushings distribute the load across the whole surface not just the contact points of the ball or roller bearing. Use a high quality grease and check regularly and go from there.
Excellent video, I found it because I picked up a cheap 22v46 unit from local fire dept and needed to fix some issues. Had a suggestion on the part about installing a rear link on the deck on the right side as well. It is a great solution to the design flaw of allowing only left side to be adjustable. However, even after the link is installed, the deck is still quite low, even on the setting of 6, even when the nuts are tightened to the top of the threads. A solution to this is inserting a 1" bushing ( a cut section of 3/8 iron pipe works well) above the nut on both sides. With this the nuts can be tightened to halfway, with a leeway of adjustment on either side. Also at that level, Setting 3 or 4 gives a mild cut, 2 gives a moderate cut and setting of 1 a very low cut, almost scalps. With 5 or 6, the deck is pulled up to its highest level possible and travel without mowing is very good and tight and rattle free even over bumpy ground. You also would need to tighten the front nut as well.
Excellent video. I appreciate your clear instructions, no unnecessary chatter, music or side jokes. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos to save me so much time!

I just ordered a set of 8TEN LawnRAZOR blades for my orange mower & AMZ asked me if I wanted to buy extended coverage for them. I was thinking... When these blades get dull, can I return then to AMZ for new sharp ones under the extended warranty? !
We just bought one of these YTH1924 Husqvarna's and we already had a couple of issues that we are not sure was a problem with the Husqvarna assembly, or if the store we bought it from just put it together half assed. First, the seat wouldn't lock into place, so it would slide at random. The fix was to to a little shaving of the plastic under the seat so that the adjustment lever didn't lock into the seat bottom. This snap in feature was keeping the adjustment lever spring from pushing the lever down far enough to stay in the square holes. Then, the left front wheel almost came off, because someone thought that since there were 4 washers for the front wheels to take up the slack, that you have to use all 4 of them. On the left side, 2 washers don't allow the clip to be in the slot for it. The funny part is that the right side needs 3 washers to fill the gap between the wheel and clip. And do the decks on these really hang low on purpose, and really swing around a lot? This one looks like it is all connected properly, but it swings a lot, and when you run the blades, it vibrates the whole mower. Already ordered the parts from this video, but will be going over this machine with a fine toothed comb as I have time.

The cheapest item at the Deere dealer is a $15.00 cut leveling tool, like the one you showed except JD yellow. The bottom lip of all decks does not make a perfect plane, as the blades should do, and the blades are a recessed up in the deck a bit as a saftey measure . So you may want to clarify that, the little end is placed against the bottom of the blade in full forward, rearward, and side position in order to be a little high in the front and level from side to side. The little scale will then provide cut height, not deck height, which is what you are seeking. Enjoy your videos, don't need music or family members running and out. An occasional dog is OK though.
I have a 2024 model S110 John Deere rider 42” mower deck. I was greasing everything up and found no zerk fitting on ether wheel, manual says it because the are permanently sealed to me I’ve never heard of that before. I’m i getting the right information. Thanks for your help on this matter I’ve been following your videos for sometime and love them thanks again sir.
Yes, the newer 2024 S series have bearings in the front wheels (not bushings). John Deere went back to a better bearing!!! as they had up until the late 1980's when they stopped using them.
Bought a ts142 recently. Checked the easy stuff after seeing your video. The deck height adjustments were already there. Also a pre filter for the air filter. No idea about the bearings. The idea that deck height is not adjustable just sounds weird. Like how many cents can a company skimp before it becomes a joke.
I have a cub cadet will that bearing kit work on my 46” cub cadet? Its a 2023 model. Thank you 🙏 for your superb way without music and noise and cheddar. Your videos are perfect. Easy to listen to when you don’t stand in the way of your camera you are a production genius 🙏. keep up the great Contant
I just get the upgrade kit every year which has all the stuff you need, air filter with pre included - 'HOODELL' brand. chinese knockoff but I've been using it for the past 8 years and it's been fine. quality actually seems better than B&S anyway. Also comes with a gas inline shutoff which I'd also recommend putting in. Makes gas filter swap much easier.
Great video, I just bought a Husky TS148X and felt the deck was too low for my taste even at the highest. Definitely will look into this upgrade. Thanks!
It looks like you may have both deck adjusters. You may need to raise all three adjusters to get higher deck height. Remember to adjust all tire pressure before adjusting the mower deck. Most people forget that tire pressure is very important to deck height and levelness. Your machine could use the front wheel bearings in this video and just look at your air filter to see if it came with a pre filter or not.
Just want to say how much I enjoy your videos. I've subscribed to your channel and I always Like your videos. Appreciate you and your channel. Thanks, D Hughes, Arkansas.
Hi Brad, thanks for the B&S pre filter part #. I have a JD S-120 with a B&S 22hp. I'll use this as well. Any upgrades for my type of tractor? Thanks again.
Check the part number for your pre-filter on your twin Briggs just to make sure your getting the correct filter. You can do the wheel bearings upgrade. The kit should be the same but if you use the kit in this video, you will get black dust caps. There is a John Deere kit, that will give you the yellow caps. Here is a link for the John Deere roller bearings.amzn.to/3raBY9w
Thanks to the bean counters, company's always make things cheaper while they charge more for it! The mower height problem is obvious, these machines need larger diameter wheels, but that cost them more!

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines All ready have and will continue watching your channel for more tips. I have two Kubota’s L2350 tractor and GR2100 lawn mower they are both three cylinder diesel. We inherited them from wife’s father and I am learning on how to keeping them running in tip top shape.
There are three adjusters on this machine. One rear adjuster on the left side, one rear adjuster after we installed the right side and one front adjuster. 3 total
Good morning. Just came across your video and enjoyed it. You mentioned about adjusting a mower deck on a john deere? I have a john deere LX 178 with a piranha 42” deck and love my tractor but has allways cut really low and wanna know how i can fix this problem? Also have a 160 with the same problem! Thank you for any advice you can give me! Have a good day
I heard you say warm, soapy "wooder." Are you from the Philly area? If so, howdy neighbor. Anyway, I love your videos and will definitely make these changes. The pre-filter is a real no-brainer. Thanks!
Hi Jhonson I watched your video it's very informative. But my question is you can fix my lawnmower it has same problem it want start. I change battery. Please let me know. Where is your work shop?
I'm glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment! Please give this video a like and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for watching :)
Yes, my opinion, if you have zerk fittings, fill the hub with grease and your bearings will last must longer as the grease will keep the moisture from penetrating in past the seals and keep lubrication to the bearings. There are videos out there showing grease going into the bearings. The seals are manly just dust covers and I know 100% that moisture will get to the bearings.
Would you happen to know if the Adjustable Mower Deck Hanger will work on a YTH22V46? The part description says it works with a YTH2246 and I don't know if there is a difference between the two mowers.
I imagine it will. The V designates the Briggs & Stratton engine. I have the YTH 22V46 as well and will be doing this. ETA: Found parts diagram and it is the same.
Absolutely love your videos, Sir! Quick question though...you flashed across the screen NOT to wash your machine? Washing is quicker, for sure. However, the extra time it would take to wipe down the entire machine after a long day...I dunno, lol. Any suggestions? Thanks! ***Liked and Subscribed Viewer***

Need an upgrade for the oil dran plug. Mine is under the starter and maybe an eighth inch above the frame. Problem is when you turn the yellow piece to drain the oil the whole thing loosens up from the block
If those are sealed bearings the other videos I've seen say that no grease will get in them so there's no need to grease anything. Am I missing something?
My opinion, you can do what you would like but I over thirty five years in the business and I know if you can grease the hubs, then grease the hubs. It will keep moisture out and the bearings will last much longer. I know as a fact, if properly greased, it will penetrate the bearings even sealed bearings as they are not made as good as they were in the past (as all products made today).
3 mandatory upgrades for your lawn tractor>>> 1 a son to operate it 2 a son to clean and do all the maintenance it requires 3 an indoor place to park it out of the weather. !
Because I have paying customers. I must make sure the machine goes back clean. I know how to get rid of all water in the process but I do not recommend washing your machine unless necessary or you will have extra needed work earlier in the machines life due to water damage on bearings.
There are many opinions on this subject. You can perform a search and take all into consideration to make your decision. My opinion, the sealed bearing will take grease by the pressure from greasing them (its a proven fact, watch a video on it). The other side of that is, if you do not keep grease around the bearings (like in the empty rim hub or blade mandrel), water will enter the bearing (fact, I see it all the time from people washing there machines that do not grease the blade mandrels). I would never want the hub assemble of the front wheels empty (always fill with grease). If not, water will enter, then enter the bearing and ruin it prematurely seal or no seal. The bearings made today do not have the tight tolerances as back in the day. Seals will let water in and also allow grease to be pushed in.
I used your Amazon link for the "roller bearings" without doing my due diligence. They came not as bearings but as bushings. Got another part number I can use? YTH22V46 mower. Thanks!
My apologies, I'm not sure what happened, I am trying to get you away from those bushings. I changed it and here is a link which should be correct and thank you for bringing it to my attention. amzn.to/4bqOOor.
The description of the bearings in the link to Amazon says they are sealed and you do not have to grease. But, it also says that the rear seal of each bearing is removable if you want to use grease. I don't think that was addressed in the video, or maybe I missed it.
Everyone has their own opinions. My opinion is as I describe at the end of the video, pump the hub full of grease after you install the roller bearings and you should be fine. I do not take off the inner seal but many people do. You can do what you will. I have seen many 30 year old John Deere machines with the original roller bearings that now need to be replaced and from the factory 30 years ago, the roller bearings were installed with both shields on the bearings and little to no grease in the hubs. You couldn’t even grease the older John Deere rims because they had roller bearings and still last 25 plus years. Now I do believe nothing is made like it used to be but like I said, install the bearings, grease the hubs and you should be good for a long time. Verses just having the bushings in the hubs wearing both the axle and bushings out.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines I believe I would be better off to remove the seal and grease. I've been pumping it full of grease since I got mine 6 or 7 years ago. I had no idea that it was only bushings or I would have changed them out long ago. I don't have any wiggle, so maybe it's not too late. Thanks for the video.
@@beekeeperzo I have a YardWorks from 2006 with bushings in the front wheels. I've kept them well greased because I use it all year round. The bushings are still good after 18 years. There is some wear, but not sloppy. Remember-A piece of equipment is only as good as the person maintaining it.
Thanks for a great video. I have a 9 year old Husqvarna 48in and the deck has the leveler hangers on both sides. My question is my highest setting 3.5 is too high and my next setting 3.0 tends to scalp sometimes because my land is somewhat bumpy 2.5 acres. Can I move the height to get a slightly higher cut by adjusting the levelers up a few threads?
@JohnsonsSmallEngines I don't see a front adjuster. There is a rod that fits in a hole and pinned. There is a hinge type bar that is also pinned that moves as you adjust cutting heights. Wish I could send you a picture .
You only have one hanger in the front of the mower deck and at the end of that hanger in the front of the machine there is a nut that can be adjusted. You will need to get on your hands and knees to see it.
There are many opinions on this subject. You can perform a search and take all into consideration to make your decision. My opinion, the sealed bearing will take grease by the pressure from greasing them (its a proven fact, watch a video on it). Thanks for the useful tips. Now if someone could just tell me where I can buy a Husqvarna. Lots online, including Lowe's(nothing in the stores) and shipping directly from Husqvarna is really expensive. Cannot find an actual dealer north of Houston. HELP?
@JohnsonsSmallEngines I have. Called them, only to discover they only handle parts and repair. Ask about ordering through these businesses and they happily look up the mower I have chosen and then tell me there is a $710.00 shipping fee. Or like Lowe's who has tons of mowers listed on their website. Tried to order that way and was told I have to go through local stores, which say they can't order. Thanks for your response. I thought I would ask, just in case. Your videos are very. helpful.
I'm having a huge problem with my brake link assembly. The instructions are super not helpful and I can't get any help from I had to take everything off my deck and replace all my parts a couple years ago. I'm having a problem with the brake assembly.
10:28 When those spindles wear, & I've have had some wear very bad you can replace those bushings with PLASTIC bushings, the plastic bushings are longer and will cover MORE of the spindle length than the worn area thus allowing you to NOT have to buy new spindles.
It should help but not necessary. I just did a video on putting in the thrust bearings in the steering on a John Deere. I did not feel that it made the steering really easy but it did help. The big winner was going back to the wheel bearings for all machines except MTD/Cub Cadet. Obviously the missing deck adjuster on the Husqvarna is another big plus.
Another desirable upgrade is to insert 2 slender washers and a torington needle bearing washer between the front axle and the steering knuckle. It reduces turning effort required. My problem is keeping air in the front tires! I removed the wheel assembly, aired them up leaving the stem cap off, and submerged them completely in a water bath. After 3 minutes, I still did not see a single bubble from either side, yet the tires go flat after 2 days of inactivity.
Yes, I have heard its call the "poor mans power steering" I am going to try it and most likely will have a video out on it. You obviously have a leak in your tires. Check the maximum allowed tire pressure on the side wall of the tire and max out the pressure. Then submerge in water. That should help find the leak. OR just put tubes in the tires and be done! Whatever you do; DO NOT put plugs in the tires. They will not hold up. You may get a little time out of that type of repair but soon enough thy will leak.
I had same problem with my tires. It took more than two days to go flat, but they were still getting low all the time. I put tubes in them and haven't had a problem since.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Poor man's power steering is definitely the way to go! I installed it on my Craftsman LT2000 and it works great. I also installed wheel bearings. I can now turn my mower with one finger and push it just by leaning on it with one hand. All lawn tractors should have these upgrades become a standard feature. It's ridiculous that they are not. 🤨
Good afternoon Brad I'm Brendon I don't know why Husqvarna only puts 1 adjuster on their decks they should put 2 adjusters so they're decks can cut nicely like they're supposed to
One wonders with all the inferior designs of the Husqvarna Tractor, such as these listed here, why would anybody buy the Tractor in the first place. Imagine the how much more of a quality product Husqvarna could be if these improvements were built in instead of their traditional cheap crap. Non-adjustable mower deck (on one side). Cheap bushings instead of quality bearings. No pre-filter..
Check your pulleys, especially your V-idler pulley. The bearing in one of them might be bad or heading that way. Also, make sure your spindles turn easily. If anything binds or drags, it's time to replace it before you ruin a belt.

They will not work on Cub Cadet.
New sub here. Your videos are the best!

I appreciate that!

Hello...just found yur channel..wow! Great stuff for Husqvarna owner like myself..
Thank you! I'm glad these videos are helpful.
You will be lucky to get parts for those in the next couple of years
Can you do a “Video” on maintenance on a husqvarna hydrostatic transmission?
New to your channel and absolutely LOVE IT!👍
Thanks to the bean counters, company's always make things cheaper while they charge more for it! The mower height problem is obvious, these machines need larger diameter wheels, but that cost them more!
On the video, the wheel bearings looked like they were sealed bearings which won't take grease. Were they ?
Great video as always man.
Thank you. Much appreciated!
Thank you, for the information, on the upgrades

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines All ready have and will continue watching your channel for more tips. I have two Kubota’s L2350 tractor and GR2100 lawn mower they are both three cylinder diesel. We inherited them from wife’s father and I am learning on how to keeping them running in tip top shape.
Are u using 2 or 4 adjusters for deck height
There are three adjusters on this machine. One rear adjuster on the left side, one rear adjuster after we installed the right side and one front adjuster. 3 total
Good morning. Just came across your video and enjoyed it. You mentioned about adjusting a mower deck on a john deere? I have a john deere LX 178 with a piranha 42” deck and love my tractor but has allways cut really low and wanna know how i can fix this problem? Also have a 160 with the same problem! Thank you for any advice you can give me! Have a good day
Thank you excellent video! Do I need the "Link Lift Suspension" part on both sides or just replace the one existing on Husqvarna YTH 18542?
Remove the non adjustable link and install an adjustable link.
Great upgrades 💯👍👍👍!!!
Will those steel bearing work on the troy built bronco I would rather have them inst of those plastic bushings like that are in mine now
Interesting. My wife just bought one of these. Now, what about the rear wheels?
Rear wheels slide onto solid axle that rotates from transmission. No bushings or bearings needed.
I heard you say warm, soapy "wooder." Are you from the Philly area? If so, howdy neighbor. Anyway, I love your videos and will definitely make these changes. The pre-filter is a real no-brainer. Thanks!
Yes, born in Philly!
Hi Jhonson I watched your video it's very informative. But my question is you can fix my lawnmower it has same problem it want start. I change battery. Please let me know. Where is your work shop?
Great job! Fun to watch !

Can you do the bearing upgrade on Cub Cadet XT1?
i need an upgrade for the mowers hood. A yt3000.I will open it to expose the engine.. fill the gas tank, and it falls shut.. anything
?
You mentioned using the zerk fitting (15:13) to grease the spindle but the bearings are sealed?
Yes, my opinion, if you have zerk fittings, fill the hub with grease and your bearings will last must longer as the grease will keep the moisture from penetrating in past the seals and keep lubrication to the bearings. There are videos out there showing grease going into the bearings. The seals are manly just dust covers and I know 100% that moisture will get to the bearings.
Good job !
I’m glad it was helpful!
@@UNFMoose I actually installed the part on the non-adjustable side and it worked well to get me more height.

This video may help. th-cam.com/video/uv62gJ00U8o/w-d-xo.html.
3 mandatory upgrades for your lawn tractor>>>
1 a son to operate it
2 a son to clean and do all the maintenance it requires
3 an indoor place to park it out of the weather.

How do you keep your tractor looking absolutely new without washing it regularly?
Because I have paying customers. I must make sure the machine goes back clean. I know how to get rid of all water in the process but I do not recommend washing your machine unless necessary or you will have extra needed work earlier in the machines life due to water damage on bearings.
curious why would you grease a sealed bearing?
The bearing replacement does this work for other husqvarna mowers?
I would say most Husqvarna lawn tractors.
Do you need to grease with the bearings
Good to know! Thanks for the insight, I'll keep pumping grease as I've always done.
Yes, adjust all three (don't forget the front deck adjuster) the same amount so you keep the deck level.
You will need to get on your hands and knees to see it.
from you link, these are sealed bearing (i jsut got them in) you are suggesting greese but they are SEALED.
Thanks for the useful tips. Now if someone could just tell me where I can buy a Husqvarna. Lots online, including Lowe's(nothing in the stores) and shipping directly from Husqvarna is really expensive.
Cannot find an actual dealer north of Houston. HELP?
Look up a local Husqvarna dealership in your area.
Your videos are very. helpful.
Thank you😊
Your welcome! 👍
I cannot find 0 weight oil anywhere. How about spraying it with Pam?
I don't see why not. I never tried it.
I'm having a huge problem with my brake link assembly. The instructions are super not helpful and I can't get any help from I had to take everything off my deck and replace all my parts a couple years ago. I'm having a problem with the brake assembly.
Should rear wheel bushings be replaced with bearings also?
There are no busings in the rear wheels as your rear wheels are connected to axles that go into a transmission.
Thanks
10:28 When those spindles wear, & I've have had some wear very bad you can replace those bushings with PLASTIC bushings, the plastic bushings are longer and will cover MORE of the spindle length than the worn area thus allowing you to NOT have to buy new spindles.
The lack of right side deck adjustment is dumb.
What is the part number for the wheel bearings, JD on a Husqvarna?
18542
Click on bearing link in the description and you should have all numbers needed.

Whats the bearing number
Awesome video. What’s your thoughts on the poor man’s power steering kit upgrade?
It should help but not necessary. I just did a video on putting in the thrust bearings in the steering on a John Deere. I did not feel that it made the steering really easy but it did help. The big winner was going back to the wheel bearings for all machines except MTD/Cub Cadet. Obviously the missing deck adjuster on the Husqvarna is another big plus.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines my husqvarna came with adjustable deck levelers.
As they should but many models did not. Without both you cannot correctly adjust the mower deck.
Tubes are the answer - at least they were for me. 🤓
Put tube in
Good afternoon Brad I'm Brendon I don't know why Husqvarna only puts 1 adjuster on their decks they should put 2 adjusters so they're decks can cut nicely like they're supposed to
What were they thinking is beyond me! Lol
MTD does it on many models they make.
First upgrade, my lawn 😂
LOL!!
I will probably run mine til the wheels fall off ! LMAO 🤣😂.
So true
my mower deck belt smokes, any info?
Check your pulleys, especially your V-idler pulley. The bearing in one of them might be bad or heading that way. Also, make sure your spindles turn easily. If anything binds or drags, it's time to replace it before you ruin a belt.
