Another great video. Watching you two with the awning brought back a great memory for me. Mom and dad had bought their 2nd trailer. We went out that weekend. Dad couldn't figure out how to pull the awning out. Mom didn't exactly help dad's who in the process either. Me, I found it entertaining. Anyway, fellow campers came to try and help out. No one could figure out how to open the awning. After what seemed like hours and hours, dad finally got out open. As he reeled out the awning, just before it was fully opened a piece of paper gently fell out from it. This paper was the instructions to opening the awning. If only Google existed back then. 😂😂😂 Anyways, thanks again for another great video and a great memory. Looking forward to more. Be safe.
glad to know we are not the only ones that have struggled with an RV awning. We could have looked at the manual, but the whole process was so entertaining that I didn't bother to get it- the fun of being a new Scamp owner!
Now watched all 4 parts of your Let New Aventures Begin they were fun, enjoyable and real. For me loved the awning adventure Nice!!!!!!!!! again May Peace, Health and Happiness continue to follow you and yours...
Patrick was cute trying to hold the awning pole and get his phone😆 that is a nice awning though- looks pretty stable. Agree- Really a nice park gonna remember it for future visit 👍🏻 beautiful 🔥 come to the New River Gorge for white water rafting in SW Va- class 4 there and guided!!
Hi Debbie, it was a great park- especially in September we had that entire side of the loop to ourselves. We still need to do some white water rafting (as you will see in the next episode our rafting trip was a bit different from what we were looking for) so we will keep that in mind for next year- thanks!
Enjoy your videos. I have a 2005 Scamp 16 foot. side bath., bought on Craigs list seven years ago. Have had many enjoyable adventures in state parks......Live in Massachusetts, traveled to Florida, Pennsylvania , The mountains of W V , my favorite. Pull with Honda Pilot.
we love to hear that older Scamps are still out on the road having adventures & it sounds like you have done some miles with your Scamp! we also love the mountains of WV & that is where we are headed later in this trip
Hello scampers, glad to see your enjoying your scamp, i'm still looking for one, want to sell your scamp to me, lol, I have to admit, i got a good laugh when you were putting up your awning, but whats life without a little humer, good luck in your travels, can't wait to buy me a scamp and join in on the fun.
the Scamp is great fun- we are enjoying the process of figuring out all these little skills and tricks of having an RV- thanks for watching & good luck on your search for a Scamp. I feel like it was pure luck that we found our when we did and I can see why people usually hold onto them
Outstanding video. I love your narration. That was a spectacular shot of the praying mantis. I'm so glad that you don't have any overly loud, obnoxious music drowning out the voices. We've had several pop-ups, but I've always wanted a scamp. Maybe someday!
thanks Bob! my video editing style has evolved over the past few years since we started doing videos & this more relaxed pace feels natural for us. The older videos may contain some energetic music...as it was very hard to find music that is free for use in videos that doesn't sound like you are in the club- but I did my best. I have been able to find more relaxing music lately as the choices expand, thank goodness! Thanks for watching & I hope you find your Scamp someday
Well done ,I'm learning as you do so I appreciate your honesty in sharing your learning experience, I doubt I would've figured the awning out though lol
Just bought a scamp 19 fifth wheel. Have you thought about a Coleman double burner stove? Lil closer to the table and less top heavy then the stove your using ? They are cheap enough these days
I had a Coleman double burner for many years and it was great when car camping. We have been doing mostly backpacking the past few years so we switched to the pocket rocket & snowpeak mini stoves. I got this single burner Coleman because I can pack it in a suitcase when we fly somewhere to camp- it is faster compared to a backpack stove, but small enough to fly with. I just buy the Coleman propane cylinder when we get to our location and we are able to cook for a week or so. I would consider the coleman double burner again though, now that we have the scamp it would be a good outdoor cooking set up.
we were so pleased that we got the thing up that we didn't bother to stake it out or anything...good thing the weather was good! guy wires are a great idea- I might set that up next season, thanks
is there a way to stake down your awning. maybe some guy lines to the perpendicular poles? cause if it gets windy, well you know the results. thanks for the video, i enjoyed it!
the awning can and should be staked down & I like the idea of guy lines for more stability- we were just so happy to get the thing up we stopped there- but we actually have not used the awning much. I have seen too many get ripped when the wind picks up so we only put it out occasionally. Thanks for watching!
You have probably run across vids by (title) Elsa Rhae who has a Scamp about 190 years old. Soon winter will end your bug problem, but then you will need Elsa's adorable little wood stove (Cubic Mini). A Scamp has to be cozy with the snow falling if you have some heat.
yes we love watching Elsa & Barrons videos! they are an inspiring couple. We are actually about to install the cubic mini Grizzley (one size larger) in our Tiny House for this winter. I don't know if I would ever be able to cut a hole in the room of the Scamp to use it in there- unless we were going full time. It is going to be hard enough cutting a hole in the roof of my house- but it will be worth it to be warm & to cook on the wood stove!
Redford didn't get to go on this trip- he was staying with Patrick's Parents for the week because we were planning some things that were not dog friendly...but he went on the next 2 trips with us because he made us feel guilty leaving him home
So everything gets a name except for the poor Jeep. I named my Jeep Wrangler Sherman, because Jeep named his green color "Tank". Green, as in Sherman tank green.
Sherman is a great name! Our jeep is named Louie, but he did not get a spot in the opening sequence- although he is an important part of our travels 😁 In a future video you will get to see my car, Penelope, the fully electric Nissan Leaf- but spoiler alert she doesn't tow anything
yes- manuals are for the weak 😂 We have done 2 trips with Redford so far and he makes sleeping a bit more challenging because he likes to climb all over the bed, so we are working on getting him to sleep on the floor- but the space for the 3 of us works well

Awesome video --- Great job on the awning -- it will be easier next time ---
Thanks Jenny, at least it made for some good entertainment- & we are starting to get a routine down as we get used to the Scamp
Love the video, but where's Redford?
He had to stay with the grandparents - we were doing some things on this trip that were not dog friendly 😭 But he got to go on the next trip 🐶
Cool. Good you figured it out yourselves. That way you will not forget.
lets hope we remember how to do it- or there will be a repeat of this on the next trip, but we can always look back at the video now
Trust me you won’t. Greenbriar looks like a nice park.
What a beautiful campfire complete with the greatest sound effects.
all you need is that great campfire smell
Enjoy your videos. I have a 2005 Scamp 16 foot. side bath., bought on Craigs list seven years ago.

I used to like nearby and it’s a great day park to swim in the summer.
it is a very well maintained park- I would have stayed here longer to enjoy the lake & the trails. The surrounding towns are also very nice
Well done ,I'm learning as you do so I appreciate your honesty in sharing your learning experience, I doubt I would've figured the awning out though lol
videos help a lot- we learn most new skills from watching videos!
I love watching you two check out my old stomping grounds for camping when I was little! :) (We didn't have a Scamp then though)
camping as a kid is the best! we didn't have a trailer then either, but when you are a kid it doesn't matter so much 😁

I’m running an old camp mate “chuck box” we won’t be cooking in the scamp unless it’s absolutely necessary l.
I love your scamp we may try and get one after the tent trailer
we are really happy with the Scamp- I would recommend it to anyone looking for a small/ light camper
I had the same awning with my last trailer and we used guy wires. Looked fine how you had it but if wind or rain picked up it could collapse.
we were so pleased that we got the thing up that we didn't bother to stake it out or anything...good thing the weather was good! guy wires are a great idea- I might set that up next season, thanks
New Subscriber! Great Video!! Thank You!!!
yay 😁 Welcome to our Channel!

The rocky river is the Potomac.
yes and we got all up close and personal with those rocks on the rafting trip!

You seem to have a hitch hiker tree bug with you. Where is Redford?

Hows it working out in a trailer that size and having a dog?
yes- manuals are for the weak 😂 We have done 2 trips with Redford so far and he makes sleeping a bit more challenging because he likes to climb all over the bed, so we are working on getting him to sleep on the floor- but the space for the 3 of us works well
