I spent the weekend, fishing, camping and hiking in Cunningham Falls State Park, in Frederick County, Maryland. It is a very nice park and the campgrounds were peaceful and beautiful. I highly recommend!
I used to live right up the road from Cunningham caught many of trout out of that lake and Frank bentz pond at the bottom of the mountain just as you go into the park ,its definitely beautiful and quiet when there isn't a bunch of people up there.
I spoke to a gentleman at the launch who said they didn't stock the trout this year due to COVID-19. I managed a few small bass, video coming. The crowds were thick during the day, and they were turning people away due to COVID restrictions.
When you are hiking a full 15 feet from your truck, it is a smart idea to remain hydrated and take plenty of rests so that you can survive the journey.
Thank you! It's a half mile to the falls IF you can get a spot in the lot at the trail head. Otherwise add another 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the other parking lots down the road. That's where I had to walk in from.
I guess the fishing didn't go too well. Oh well, it happens. I spent 8 hours on the water Friday and only caught 4 cats. At least you had a nice spot to get away and enjoy nature for a while.

Thanks for making the video. I wanna go there. And I'm only one hour away from there.
Have fun!

That's a nice park and Looks popular. Plenty of interesting scenery.
I would definitely go back and camp! It was crowded during the day, and that's with COVID restrictions.

Never underestimate the importance of good hydration.

Bath House gets an A! What a great looking place. Just a 4 mile walk from the AT, lol.
Very relaxing for sure. Best part was watching camping TV (staring at the fire).
Hiker TV - right up there with hiker midnight (sundown).
How far is the falls from the parking? Planning to take my 4 yrs old on the trail to the falls. Thanks. Nice video by the way!

The fishing wasn't bad! That video is still in production lol! 8 for 4 is tough!
Wow do you know which campsite you stayed on? Was it elderberry loop or deer spring, or manor area?
Deer Spring I believe. Site 94. It was a great spot!
How was the fishing?
Not hugely productive, but peaceful and fun. I posted a video with the fishing part. Small bass.
