have some tips for you. most of Thai ppl fear a failed communicate so u have to start to get in first and talk slowly word by word u will see this guy can understand or not then u could talk a bit faster. They have a welcoming heart dont hesitate to try new foods new friends u just have to start approaching first. try it!!! nothing bad happen.

As a Thai, I absolutely agree. Thai people are very easy to handle. Talk to them slowly and have a low tone of voice with respect. Do not shout in any situation or show aggressive behavior. If you have any problem and need their help, try to speak slowly until they understand you. Thai people are not good at the English language, but they have good hearts and will help you without hesitation if they can understand what you want.

I stay half the year in Thailand and I never felt unsafe without all the anger and people on edge as in the States. I have been all around Thailand from Bangkok to Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Chaing Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui, Hua Hinn, and my second home Koh Chang. Like anywhere including the states, you have to use common sense like not being drunk after waving a bunch of baht at the beer bar. You are wise to give yourself long periods of rest and "do-nothing" time. You're allowing your body to get used to a new part of the world, a new climate, new foods, new natural environment, time has shifted for you. And what's so wonderful is that you have absolutely NO pressure to knock yourself against the wall to have a decent place to stay and some food to eat. Also, you're in a safe environment for once in your known life, so your body and mind are in a state of prolonged relaxation after constantly living with real or implied "threats" and uncertainty. So glad you're having this great experience.

Thai people do not discriminate against foreigners except you have something wrong, such as a strong smell from the mouth or the body, or social misbehavior. Love what you're doing young brotha. I'm gonna sub. We must have got to Thailand around the same time - Oct. 1 (although I did previously visit about 5 years ago). Your commentary is spot on. Try to get down to some of the southern islands. I'm in Phuket, and haven't been to Pattaya as I was looking for a less crowded beach experience. Keep on doing what you do!

Thanks for a video and nice comments about Thailand.I am Thai who have been living in US for 30+ years. You are right that Thailand is generally safe comparing with Chicago where I live. In general, people are kind and friendly but they may seem shy, it is just because of their inability to communicate in English. I am glad you don't feel discriminated in Thailand. I think racism exists everywhere you go, it is just the matter of more or less. As Asian, I experience racism in US, it is something I have to accept and learn how to live with it. But most Thais will not do or say anything thing bad to people who look different from them. Like you said, as long as you don't do anything crazy, they will not bother you. Additionally, if you become Thais' friends, you will be more surprised, how Thais can be very loyal and sincere. Nevertheless, there are always bad people who will take advantage of foreigners in any countries you go including Thailand. Just be careful. I hope you continue to enjoy and experience good things in Thailand. If you experience unpleasant stuffs, just be mindful that Thailand is not perfect, there are areas for improvement. Thanks again for visiting my beloved homeland.

Correct. And because you've lived in America, you've definitely developed empathy for blacks living abroad because now you understand what egregious racism is (through unfortunate circumstances). Again, the previous president really stirred the attacks on "Asians" in America in general.

As a Thai I've to admit that Thailand does have problems in some aspect
but overall, I've seen a good progression this past 20 years, Thai people getting more used to people from different race and start to have much more open mindset.

Siamese people welcomed and were open to foreigners since Ayutthaya period. There were foreigner communities date back to Ayutthaya era, but many of them returned to their countries after hearing the news about the Burmese invasion. Fernão Mendes Pinto was the first foreigner from Europe who arrived in Siam and he ended up working for the Siamese King because we were cool with it.

Why do some Thai people celebrate white skin? Be honest. The stores are filled with skin bleaching products. White skin is favored. I am not saying all people from Thailand are this way, but it DOES exist and it is only fair to present the whole picture. Darker skin Thai women are beautiful but are not considered so in their country. I hope this changes with the younger generation.
