Me alucina que todo el mundo menciona el aprovechar el tiempo libre para disfrutar, aunque sea tomando algo tranquilo con alguien, comer algo rico o dar una vuelta. ¿Qué sentido tiene vivir si estamos constantemente compitiendo y produciendo?
Se necesita dinero para vivir, sin el, no tienes calidad de vida. Muchos de esos extranjeros o son mantenidos por sus padres o generan ingresos en sus paises, sobre todo los americanos. Con un salario de $4000 al mes estandar en EEUU se vive genial en España.
La calidad de vida española buena la disfrutan los extranjeros, la mayoría de españoles les cuesta llegar a final de mes
tampoco te vayas al otro extremo que nos convertimos en Argentina o Venezuela pero si, la tranquilidad y el disfrute de la vida es algo que valoramos mucho en nuestra cultura
El problema en paises como EEUU es que la gente esta muy limitado por muchas cosas pero lo principal es el dinero. En EEUU se gana muchisimo dinero a differencia de Espana, pero tambien hay muchos pero muchisimos mas gastos para la gente en EEUU y las cosas en general estan super caras. Ultimamente se esta haciendo la vida muy muy dificil para disfrutrar aqui en EEUU. No es que la gente no quiere disfrutrar de su tiempo libre aqui, es que la gente prefiere quedarse en casa o trabajar solo por no salir a gastarse dinero por eso de estar limitado.
@@Finkiu no exageres, siempre hay un termino medio. En general en el sur de Europa no somos tan miserables como Latinoamérica y las cosas a nivel general funcionan bien a pesar del paro, los bajos salarios u otros problemas que se derivan de no ser económicamente tan productivos. Ahora bien, no dedicamos tanto tiempo y esfuerzo a preocuparnos por el trabajo y por el dinero. Supongo que nuestra mentalidad y nuestra idiosincrasia prioriza la realización personal a través de otros aspectos de la vida como las relaciones personales, el bienestar mental o el desarrollo personal.

Claro que eres mas feliz cariño. Vienes aquí escapando de tu vida y tus responsabilidades. Pero no hay escapatoria de eso.

Yo viví en España alrededor de un año y es lo que dice otro comentario aquí mismo, los latinos tenemos a Europa romantizado cuando en realidad es un continente muy frío (socialmente hablando en este caso).
La manera más fácil de hacer amistades es si estudias algo y los trabajos son en su mayoría mal pagados y con experiencia mínima de dos años en cualquier cosa. La burocracia es lenta y tienen muchos problemas con el tema de viviendas. No voy a decir que la sociedad española es mala porque nadie me trató mal y a diferencia de los demás europeos ellos son más abiertos pero definitivamente no es un país para todo el mundo.

i left spain when i was 17 years old to uk i came here to work an make money but then quality of life in spain is much better then working and money here this is sad life i am gratefull i ahve job ut everything keeps going up uk is going to be a mess soon i will hopefully move back tp spain and be happy maybe elss money but here the money is not good anymore anyway

Well, I was in Spain during lockdowns, and it depressed me more than any experience I have ever had in Europe. The tyranny was shocking. I loved Spain before I saw how quickly the people embraced what amounted to fascism. I lived in Granada and Barcelona. Just a note, the woman from Mongolia didn’t have a Mongolian accent. Odd.

Te aconsejo que veas algun que otro postcast de historiadores hispanoamericanos como Zunzunegui, Gullo, y tantos otros. A lo mejor aprendes algo sobre tu propio origen, sobre tu propia historia, y empiezas a no odiar y prejuzgar cuando descubras la verdad de la historia que allá donde vivas te han ocultado y te planteas si quien te ha inculcado ese odio, te merece tanto respeto.

Bureaucracy is terrible though.
I lived in Madrid for two years in my 20’s. Sent with a grant from university in Belfast to study there one year I stayed another year and had the best time ever! Night life amazing, cosmopolitan vibe and meeting people from all over the world, the feeling that anything goes and you can just be yourself, the fooooood (a great education in itself!), the friendliness of the Spanish people, friendships formed for life etc etc
A brilliant eye opening experience.

One major bias that is probably a factor in many of these people’s experiences, they are living in Spain as students or in the “prime of their life”, or in retirement. If they are a student it’s almost certainly the case that they have fewer stressors cuz they aren’t working and have no responsibilities other than studying.
@@paulhamrick3943Absolutely. The year I spent in Poland was one of the highlights in my life cause it was like a reward for me. I got a grant and I only had to make sure that I passed my exams. Other than that, I was young, healthy and eager to discover new things with a nice group of fellow students. Nowadays when I struggle coping with daily problems I can't avoid wishing I was in Poland again but what I actually miss is being 21 and enjoying the freedom I had back then.

It is very different to deal with the real pains of the country, work, papers and institutions than to be an student or a retired person! Nothing to do!
Food is still good but it has gotten more and more expensive, cathedrals and art keep on being good of course!

I find that in the first few years, people tend to have a 'honeymoon' feeling. Interested in seeing the video about the 'hardest part'.
I'm from Barcelona and i have friends from different countries and they have lived here for years and I can tell you that the honeymoon continues hahah. Maybe not for de USA people, bc a lot of them have a privileg situation there, but people from latin america i can tell you they are still greatful :)
I have lived in the UK for 8 years now, I can speak fluently and I'm very familiarised with the people here, but I also lived in Spain for 7 years and I would 100% rather live in Spain than England for so many reasons such as people, lifestyle, weather and food. I have lots of English friends who want to leave the UK and move to somewhere like Spain.

Most expats I met in Spain ended up going back to the UK within a few years. Financially, the wages are so low. Chances of a decent career are even lower. Business policies and tax systems are brutal. The honeymoon phase ends when people realise they need to start building a wealth pot.
@@LewisGreenaway Nah, USA treats its people like piece of trash, with the housing crisis and corporate greed reaching extreme levels. As a recent medical graduate, I feel disillusioned by the USA in everyway. And the UK? I can't see myself working for the NHS as a doctor. If I pursue residency, it will most likely be in the EU, possibly in Spain.

Soy portuguesa y realmente me identifico con lo que dice la gente en este video. Voy a España todos los años y más de una vez por año, he visitado muchas ciudades y siento que España es mi segundo hogar que espero se convierta en mi primer hogar. He visitado muchísimos países y puedo decir que no hay nada como España. El español, la vida social, las personas, la comida, horarios más flexibles para comer, todo es muy diferente. Me siento más yo en España. Portugal no tiene tanta vida. Sólo quiero aprender español lo más perfectamente posible, me acabo de graduar y quiero trabajar y vivir en España. No por el dinero, que no hará mucha diferencia, sino por la CALIDAD de vida. Y quiero agradecer a los españoles por recibirme siempre tan bien en todas las ciudades que he visitado.
Soy portugués tambien y opino igual. Creo que es muy triste que muchos portugueses tengan una especie de rencor hacia España por razones historicas que han pasado hace 4 putos siglos. Cada vez mas me identifico menos con Portugal. Vivo justo en la frontera y veo que la alegría, la vida y la economia mejoran en España, mientras que nuestro país Portugal cada vez mas parece "atascado" en el pasado. Un abrazo y buena suerte.

Además, durante la mayor parte de la historia ambos países han sido más aliados que enemigos.
@@unpocodetodo8851 Sí, pero sin embargo debo decir que creo que es una cosa de la generacion mas antigua (70s) y de la gente que no vive cerca de la frontera. Es que Portugal, como España, tuvo una dictadura en el siglo xx y el regimen impuso una dictadura del miedo y del aislamiento. España siendo el unico país con lo cual Portugal comparte frontera, era el alvo perfecto de estos imbeciles - a pesar de que Franco y Salazar eran grandes amigos. Hoy en día las cosas estan muy cambiadas. He visto a un monton de portugueses celebrando la eurocopa de españa este verano por ejemplo. A nivel politico y economico nunca se ha visto una cooperación tan grande entre los dos paises. In addition to all the other great things about Spain I think safety is an important one. For example, there were 2x more murders in the city of Chicago (with population of 3 million people) alone than the entire country of Spain (population of 48 million people) last year
I'm Spanish and I don't get this feeling at least in relation with the rest of Europe, in Spain I won't say it's safe to walk alone in the street at night ( in Barcelona where I'm from) Unlike Austria for example where it's totally safe basically

@@JordiVilardellRicoYou would change your mind if you go out of Spain a little more. Try going for a night walk in France, England, Germany, Netherlands, etc... I don't know about Austria, but I've been around many countries in Europe and there is a big difference with Spain in terms of safety.
Im Filipino and currently living the UK. Travelled around Europe and Spain is probably the best European country for me. I just love it over there. 🇪🇸

Spain is a wonderful place for me. I bought a house in a small town and it brings me so much peace when I am there. It's away from all the stress in the US and my job there. I can't wait until summer when I get to stay for an extended period of time. In retirement, it will be so great. When I'm there, I feel so much healthier. No pains, no stress. Awesome, sweet people in the village, too.
Do you speak Spanish well? I think that would be important. I need to work on that.

They feel at ease and happy because they are living and fulfilling an opportunity and they have chosen to be in Spain, same as when I moved to Belgium (Liège) to spend three years there. Also, they live in the city centre in the nicest, most central, historical parts of the city. Ask someone who is born and raised in Spain but has always lived in Villaverde or Vallecas if they feel the same about living in Spain

Italy and Spain are cousins but Spain is the progressive open minded cousin and Italy is the conservative closed minded one 🤷🏼♀️
@@XY_ESP Como todo, depende de con quién compares. Personalmente, basado en mis experiencias, Italia, Portugal y Grecia son las naciones más parecidas a España.
He trabajado intensamente y formado equipos multiculturales con gente de toda Europa (y alguna de fuera), muchos de ellos son ahora amigos, así que tengo muestra para comparar (no hace falta ser muy listo para saber dónde trabajo 😂). En Italia incluso he vivido.
De todas las naciones, la que tiene gente más parecida a España (sorprendentemente, porque no me lo esperaba para nada) es Grecia, tanto en personalidad como en forma de ver la vida. Trabajar con gente griega o socializar con ellos es practicamente idéntico a hacerlo con españoles. Incluso, fisicamente tienen esa mezcla de rasgos europeos con un punto árabe. Como diferencia diría que tienen un puntito más excéntrico (sobre todo ellos), pero encajamos al 100%.
Los italianos tienen una forma más clasista, conservadora (o retrógrada) y chanchullera (por qué no decirlo) de ver la vida, pero tienen una personalidad muy parecida a la nuestra (aunque más histriónica) y nos apreciamos y respetamos bastante (lo que no es fácil porque los italianos no suelen respetar culturalmente a casi nadie). Los portugueses, sin embargo, ven la vida de manera casi idéntica a nosotros y tienen valores muy parecidos, pero una personalidad bastante distinta 🤷🏼♀️
Latinoamérica, la cual conozco bastante por razones personales más que profesionales, es otro mundo tanto en personalidad como en valores. Tenemos una historia, idioma y muchas costumbres parecidas y de ahí podemos tirar para encajar, pero somos mundos distintos.
Curiosamente, de Europa, de las mejores experiencias profesionales que he tenido ha sido trabajando mano a mano con alemanes (sin jerarquía). Vemos la vida de manera tan distinta que somos super complementarios. Como el ying y el yang.

I travel a decent amount and I’ve noticed some people from UK or Australia or France etc saying that too (from London, Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, etc). It’s not exclusive to Americans.

A lo mejor lo que extraña es que lleve más cosas. Aquí la mantequilla de cacahuete (que es una cosa no tradicional, pero como somos taaan paletos enseguida aceptamos cualquier mier... con tal que venga de fuera) suele venderse en la versión "sana", o sea, cien por cien mantequilla de cacahuete, sin azúcar ni nada más.

Imagínate a un alemán diciendo lo mismo sobre el jamón ibérico... que obviamente esta mil veces mejor el jamón que la crema de cacahuete, no comparo los alimentos, pero eso es cosa aparte. Si los primeros colonizadores que llegaron a América hubiesen tenido la misma mentalidad que tú, ni las patatas, ni los tomates ni el maíz, entre otros cientos de alimentos más, hubiesen llegado a Europa.

Spain is full of happy people and warm weather and good food. The culture values family, community, and relaxation. It’s FAR less stressful than the United States, my home. I never feared getting shot in Spain.
Arab countries are as stressful as the united states, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong.

Yo soy portugués y vivo en Aragón hace 20 años. Vivir en España me ha permitido estar más cerca del medio natural y tener un estilo de vida más sostenible. Me la gente de aquí, la cultura y las montañas... Visitar la Sierra de Guara si podéis.

I move to Madrid this year for studies and that's a really cool city, muy agradable. I'm from Paris and that's incredible too how this city is really safe compare to Paris 😂
And clean. Paris smells really bad , like sewage. Unbearable smells in the metro stations. And add to that the arrogance of the people.

@@CarlosPerez-zf1uy I didn't say that it's safe everywhere, but I compare with the general ambiance of Paris and especially the center. The center of Paris is really much more unsafe than the center in Madrid.

More and more I am being pulled to Spain. It's part of my lineage. I no longer feel welcomed in the country I grew up and served (US). Was looking at other countries...but spain keeps calling me.
I am living in Spain since almost 7 years now first in Barcelona and now in Madrid and must stay Madrid was my best move I totally love the city.

Españita es increíble aunque hay muchísimas cosas que se pueden mejorar, pero con políticos como los que tenemos actualmente no solo no mejoraremos sino que iremos a mucho peor, si tuviéramos a algún político en condiciones España sería muchísimo mejor de lo que ya es e incluso seríamos el referente para muchos países

Yo he vivido en varios paises pero España es la mejor por sol sus paisajes, la gastronomia y los precios. Madrid es mas bonita que otras capitales de Europa donde tienen un tiempo asqueroso y hace frio, los españoles no saben la suerte que tienen.

Very interesting! Anybody mention in this video how expensive is housing in Madrid. How much is the salary of these people? Are their parents sending them money from the US?
It’s so stupid to ask young people whose expenses are taken care of either by parents or by maybe student loans how much their lives have improved while they are on what essentially a long vacation in a country that has amazing weather and food. Of course they are enjoying themselves!
Many of the Americans and Canadians will indeed be rich kids with no real concept of earned money. However, Madrid is fairly affordable, English teachers could easily get by on €1000 per month, if living frugally! I've done a video on a similar topic.

I live in New York City and recently visited Spain....I can say that I definitely appreciate how much cleaner Spanish cities are... The Metro is sooo much cleaner than ny's trains and just as efficient.

I totallly agree moving to Madrid was my best move. I love Belgium my coutry and also London but Madrid has everything and If have to go to London or NYc then you have the airport just a few metro station where I live. The quality of life in Madrid is amazing.

I lived in Spain for a few years. In Barcelona and Madrid, there are quite a lot of black people, most of whom are from the Dominican Republic. My father-in-law is black, and has lived in Barcelona for 17 years. Any questions, let me know.

My boyfriend and I were in Madrid for almost 2 weeks last year and I can’t wait to go back! I felt so safe there, the people were friendly, the city is clean and felt more at peace than in Toronto!

Si vienes contratado por una empresa extranjera y cobrando más del doble o el triple de lo que cobra la gente de aquí, entonces la experiencia es otra, naturalmente, y se entiende que los extranjeros digan que se toman de la vida de una forma más relajada y demás chorradas. Pero en España prácticamente no existen oportunidades para tener un sueldo medianamente decente, labrarte un futuro laboral y ascender socialmente, y las condiciones laborales en general son lamentables si comparamos con Alemania o Suecia. Más horas de trabajo, peor trato, nula conciliación familiar y sueldos miserables. Si tus padres no te dejan un piso en propiedad o no te ayudan de alguna forma, olvídate de poder vivir de forma digna. La mayoría de la gente malvive. El hecho de que la economía sea más débil y ofrezca pocas oportunidades lleva a que la gente dé menos importancia al trabajo y más a la vida privada. Y lógicamente si entrevistas a estudiantes te dirán que la vida es fantástica.

Por fin un comentario realista. Hace muchos años que me fui de Espana, y qué triste fue dejar atrás mi país, el sol que ya no veo y las personas importantes en mi vida, pero la prosperidad económica y profesional que ahora vivo no me la ha dado España ni me la iba a dar jamás. Bajos sueldos, explotacion, compañeros de trabajo mediocres y tóxicos... la lista es interminable. En estos momentos la vida es difícil en muchisimos paises del mundo, pero para mi siempre lo fue en España. El video realmente está sesgado, pero supongo que depende mucho también de la personalidad de cada uno y de sus propias experiencias personales. El país es precioso y mucha de su gente también.

I notice most of the videos on this channel sample people in their 20s for interviews. This leads to only one view point.
People change wants and desires as they move through life. People in their 20s are focused on parties and social interactions.
People in their 30s and greater are less stimulated by these things. I cant get anything out of the videos on this channel because I have nothing in common with this age group, regardless of where we are from. It would be nice to see more of a variety. Perhaps the interviewers are less comfortable approaching people who are older than 25? Or, is it that people who are older than 25 are less comfortable being approached?

Gracias por el vídeo. He visto muchos vídeos de este tipo, sobre todo con estadounidenses, y hay algo que se repite en todos, la competitividad, la obsesión con ganar dinero, trabajar más para ganar más, ascender, etc. Es una mentalidad enfermiza y terrible, como si hubieran perdido el norte y ya no supieran para qué quieren trabajar y ganar dinero. ¿No es para ser más feliz? Para ellos parece que no, que ganar dinero es un fin en sí mismo, así que entran en un bucle que sin duda les tiene que afecta a su salud, tanto mental como física. Y eso que es gente que vive en Madrid la que comenta que están más tranquilos, cuando Madrid debe ser la ciudad más estresante de España. Fliparían si vieran cómo se vive en un pueblo, o incluso en una ciudad de tamaño medio (hablo con conocimiento de causa, he vivido en los tres tipos de poblaciones de distintas comunidades autónomas)

One of the things Americans should stop doing is referring to their particular home life experience as "in America we do......." If you live in Arizona vs New Orleans, everything about these 2 American life experiences are wildly different in every way. The US is definitely a driving culture, but to say America doesn't have public transit isn't accurate at all. Cities like San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Boston, DC, etc have large percentages of their inhabitants who only use public transit and are completely carless. Next time say "in Texas, we have..." or "in Illinois, we do...." instead. Thanks.
