My husband is a professional bassoonist and I'm a professional violinist, and THIS is FANTASTIC!!! We're close to the Air Force Academy and this is such an AWESOME cadre of musicians!! His "student teacher" Brian O'Donnell is now conducting for the Air Force in Germany!

That English horn solo is so great. As an oboe player, that's my favorite part of the piece.

I played this it was so hard especially where the violas have switch to treble clef. And i was in middle school.

    • @benrogers4613
      @benrogers4613 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

If it helps, treble clef has a middle "B" as Alto clef has middle "C". So the middle of the treble clef is your first finger on your "A" string!

It's a song from our Civil War in the 1800's. The lyrics are about wishing that the soldiers will come home safely.
When Johnny comes marching home again,
      Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give him a hearty welcome then
      Hurrah! Hurrah!
The men will cheer and the boys will shout
The ladies they will all turn out
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home.
The old church bell will peal with joy
      Hurrah! Hurrah!
To welcome home our darling boy,
      Hurrah! Hurrah!
The village lads and lassies say
With roses they will strew the way,
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home.
      Get ready for the Jubilee,
      Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give the hero three times three,
      Hurrah! Hurrah!
The laurel wreath is ready now
To place upon his loyal brow
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home.
Let love and friendship on that day,
      Hurrah, hurrah!
      Their choicest pleasures then display,
      Hurrah, hurrah!
And let each one perform some part,
To fill with joy the warrior's heart,
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home

      Sergeant*
Also, the USAF doesn't have a rank called, sergeant. It begins at SSgt, TSgt, MSgt, SMSgt, CMSgt. The only time you wouldn't greet an AF NCO as sergeant is if they were a Chief Master Sergeant, in which case they would be greeted as Chief.

I still remember my sergeant telling me one night after an alert that if it were real and once the bombers were off, our next order of business would be to simply wait to get vaporized. Sobering thought. Don't try to tell me who has courage, and who doesn't.

A fine performance. But can't you at least provide the name of the conductor or a list of the players. Just because you're in the military, you don't become a nameless hord. An orchestra is made up of individual players that should be given credit.
