WOW! Beautiful music.. this is absolutely glorious.. Thank you The United States Marine Band for this lovely moment.. love so much this ❤
❤Such a wonderful version of the American folksong so artfully performed by the best band in the land!!!
The immortal Morton Gould. Top notch performance. Great wind ensemble music seems to be always underrated.
Wow....Excellent players and arrangement.
Set a Metronome to it! Impeccable performance. Once again, very exemplary conducting. Thrilling to listen.
Bravo
First time listening. Recommended to me by an officer in your military. Am a Canadian!

Once again, all the right notes were played with robotic precision. But, little music was heard or felt. No soul.
Maybe you’re just not the target audience
Please post a better performance….anxious to hear an ensemble better than this!
It's worth noting that both replies to this comment are ad hominem, and don't negate the point that T-Bone made. Now granted, i think this is one of Morton Gould's weakest pieces, "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing," as Shakespeare would say. There's so little dynamic expression in the few instances of melody here that I have to assume it's a purposeful interpretation.
If you compare this with Bourgeois-era recordings, I just don't hear as much dynamic shading in either the melodic or accompanying voices. This makes two recent recordings in a row that I've listened to and have been struck with the same thought, both with this particular conductor. It would almost have to be deliberate. These are some of the finest players in the world, and it's certainly the premiere wind band in the country.
I would actually agree. Having played this score before, there are nuances in the music that really could make this exhilarating, but I’ve noticed that the band seems more restrained when under the baton of one of the assistant directors, very mechanical. A much different feel than when Col. Fettig is on the podium.
I admire precision!
