I have a 96 chevy tahoe the barn door on driver side wont open at all do you guys have a video on how to fix?
There is a recall on the Wiper Motor and Board from GM. I had mine done last year on my 95 Tahoe. Fixed the wiper issues. Should’ve seen the faces asking for a 25 year old recall.
@Big Business I went to Chevy and had them do it. Did you check your vin on the Chevy recall site just to see if it was done? Mine wasn't so they set an appointment up and I just swung by. In and out.
95 Tahoe’s are a single year manufacture. No compatible parts from any other year

Best vehicle I’ve ever owned made multiple trips from New York to Florida without a hitch hauled sheet rock lumber and tons of stone pavers and cement this thing is bulletproof.
I have a 1995 Tahoe with 327,000 miles. i could write a book regarding all the repairs but it's still a good vehicle.
I got a 99 Tahoe with almost 210,000 on it .. just love the depandability of these trucks..especially in the winter time where im at. It starts right up first try every time!
Just bought an LS model of the same year. Wisconsin truck, if you know what I mean. I have to fix my front suspension. I'm a little daunted by the idea of doing it myself, but the shop wants to charge me over $4k 😨

Forgot to mention the gas gauge that has a mind of its own. Replace the sending unit and fuel pump. Got so bad it had a sword fight with my oil pressure needle😂

Thanks for uploading those nice videos . well, i own a 92 chevy blazer full size / yukon and i can tell that only few of those symptoms are familiar with the the early version of the 92-94 models . Outer door Handle are originally cast iron / steel and different so they are brake less , inside door handle is solid as a rock - never had any issues - intake gasket in the 92 is different from the vortec style but also had some issue after 100000 miles - so that's fair enough , with the fuel pump their are many issues like you mentioned but it is with all of the 90' chevy / gmc truck and suv .
Wiper motor never had issues.
From my experience i will mention that In the 92-95 year models the starter motor is very weak and i had many issues of no staring in particular during our hot israely summer so i upgrade it to the 96 upper models and the problem been solved completely .
Another issue to mention: the a/c evaporater core box are equipped without a cabin filter so every 3-5 years you will have to clean it or other wise you will get weak blowing and bad cooling capacity .
Transmission issues : 4L60 / 700R4 ( cable ) : if you ride those suvs in hot areas / deserts with out a transmission oil cooler which connected directly to the oil hose ( not throw the the radiator) you may spent every 40000 miles 2000- 3000 usd for an overall - with the external oil cooler you can make easily 120000 miles or more with out any issues, also i can recommend to replace the trans oil and the filter every 15000 miles .

I've had most of those same problem with my 97 suburban. However, once replaced, it has run like a champ. I went through a time where it wasn't very reliable due to those problems, but now, that thing is a beast and a daily for me.
Did that include the intake manifold gaskets? How much did that cost you? I'm considering getting one of these generation Suburbans. I prefer them to the later ones.

They had cylinder heads that were prone to cracking warping vortec heads
@@worstnightmare9772 Think you're talking about the 5.3L. The 5.7L vortec was pretty much bullet proof.
@@paulf3067 no Way the Chevy 350 engine is still the best engine ever made in the USA it was when they switch to vortec is when they started having coolant leak into the oil between the gasket cylinder one and two
@@worstnightmare9772 It is the 5.7L vortec is 350 Chevy engine same all the way back to 1960's all the did is improve how the heads flow and call it a vortec, the engine didn't change until they made the 5.3L vortec, than was a completely different engine. ROFL LOL
I bought a rust free 99 Tahoe from original owner with 217,000 miles on it..Uses only 1/2 QT oil every 7K when i do a oil change, has a glass smooth idle...I did all bushings and ball joints, lift, 33s on 20s and it came with all options per build
sheet including tow and off road upgrades..These are pretty well built trucks and if maintained they can give you years of reliable use..Two complaints..Fuel economy..i get average 10.5 mpg and onlookers..Get alot of ppl looking at my Hoe probably because the 4th gen looks sweet and has alot of clearance compaired to the new high hoods all jacked up running 35s..I much prefer the slimmer profile 90s VS todays high hood no clearence chevy truck..
I have had owned 2. A 95 I had for 13 yrs and now i currently have a 96. My father also had a 96. We have had to do just the power steering and fuel pump and many a door handles (plus other various repairs). These trucks are sturdy and can last for quite a long time if taken well care of.

I have a Tahoe with 400,000 miles and still running it’s a 96 I got a replacement engine but thing still running strong love Chevy tahoes !!
Great video but you forgot 2 of the most important ones. The sloppy steering due to the rag joint on the steering shaft and the spongy breaks which all of them have
Switch to the nbs master cylinder. Made a world of difference to mine
I just bought a 2000 Escalade, so far I have three issues mentioned on this video with the fuel pump & exterior/interior door handles. Lets hope none of the other issues come up. The truck has 305,000 on the ODO.
Loved and miss my 97 Tahoe LT. The one thing I remember that was an issue acros all GMT400 platforms was sagging doors due to worn hinge pins
That's the issue with mine
Luckily I purchased on and the previous owner just had all those pins replaced over $637 in parts and labor

@@1AAuto ok so I also have a 97 Chevy Tahoe that I’ve had for about 2 years now that is now deciding she wants to hold water in her ass like a camel. If I’m parked nose down the water comes rushing out from the side step things but also does the stagnant water smell. Can’t find rust but don’t want to rip up everything to find out how the hell this is happening. Any ideas?
I've done fuel pump,power steering pump and intake manifold gaskets on mine.....ugggh, but once fixed,good to go!
I've replaced the windshield wiper motor but didn't know about that board. Could replace the wiper switch also.
Door handles,yup. The outside door handles yup. I've done all of those hahaha.
I've had all these problems plus about 20 other ones. Seems like it's never ending. Glad I paid cash for my 99 because I put a car payment worth of repairs into it every couple of months.

I wonder why my doom lights don't work for my Chevy Tahoe 1999 I changed the fuel it came on then when I close my driver door it goes out?
Really not bad. There is a 98 for sale for $2,500... Should I buy it? It has a salvaged title but doesn't look wrecked at all...
Could the coolant go through the intake, out the exhaust, and set off a check engine light?

I just got a 99 tahoe and the previous owner replaced the transmission with a th350 with a b&m ratchet shifter and I love it but it's got some kind of electrical issue cause the only gauge that works is the tach and was the same with a new cluster too
Pull the cluster. The ribbon connector loosened up. Mine did the same thing. Its not connected by a harness more like a membrane.
except for fuel pump mine has had all of these it a 1998 gmc yukon with over 200,000 miles.
Boy you aint lying. I just bought a 99 suburban and i had to change every one of those except fuel pump looks like thats next on the list. Lol only if this was my video iy would have been the top 30 repairs iv pretty much replaced everything but the engine which i found out i actually have to do because i have a bent crank. Main seal wont stay sealed. Had it done twice now and talked to 2 different shops. Said thats only thing it could be
1996 Tahoe - Stock: If your Tahoe is = below 1/8 tank & parked on an incline pointing up, it may not start if below freezing - wait until weather warms. This truck relies on fuel pressure to run - super cold mean low pressure. Low fuel pressure can cause all sorts of issues, even the injectors require very good pressure to work well. Door pins = heavy doors means you may need to replace door hang pins x 2. A/C = if A/C coolant is low the condenser will not turn on. Also, if coolant is fine then the heater cluster is bad, electronic cluster fails... (the 3 dial cluster = $70.00 on Ebay) Door handles = train yourself to be gentle while opening the doors. ;-) I've got 245K on mine, engine upper rebuild head gaskets is all I've done. Mine is parked inside every night. I have owed it since 1998 - 23 years!!

My wifes is a 97 2 dr black/grey 4x4. I'm about to cash in some Bitcoin and let her get all the mods she wants. Will never get rid of our older vehicles. These new trucks are nice but they track you, can be hacked, too complicated, and not built to last.

If the suv has intake leak would it cause the vehicle to overheat?
This Friday I am getting a Denali 99 with 187k miles it starts up but the guy says the gauges for the oil don't work it's like not even reading anything just hanging down in the bottom. Could it be a bad stepper motor? And I am going to change the intake gaskets just to be safe

By '96, Tahoes improved considerably on reliability issues.
97 Yukon w/165k, runs like new, 3 starters and oil cooler lines only major fixes

I'm having problems with my door lock buttons right now. They just decided to not work. 😒? I'll be replacing that door button module soon.
I Have a 99 tahoe w 232 miles, new radiator 2-3 year old,2-3 fuel pump new. Only problem is the “service engine soon” light is stays on. Any ideas what can it be???

In other words those trucks are extremely reliable trust me the flaws listed were not bad at all, once you drive a Chevy you'll know the difference between the rest 👍

Aside from timbrens, for this vehicle/model, what would you recommend doing to correct sagging due to a mounted snow plow?
How could you leave out the spider injectors? That is the number one failure of all the early 5.7 litre Vortec engines, rough idle and poor fuel economy is the result. The upgrade is worlds better and puts the injectors at each cylinder.
Going to have that done this weekend.
Is frame rust an issue on these? Worst areas to look out for? I heard rotten brake lines were a an issue. Looking at a 98 - ( yes from the rust belt 😖 )

Hello Tahoe lovers... I have a question since im having a hard time finding answers. I have a 1996 chevy tahoe with 160k miles. My question is while im driving n come to a stop and go again it feels like something is separating underneath my truck. Almost like an accordion feel. Any ideas?
I have heard something about the rear leafsprings giving a little when you start to move again.

Spider injector, wheel bearings, tail light circuit board. Heater hose fitting in intake.
heater hose intake port corroding is worse than the power steering pump issue.
A family member has one. Every winter never fails the windshield wiper fluid freezes up. The tank, hoses and nozzles.

There was a problem with the windshield washer lines and nozzles kept freezing.

I had 3 of the 5 problems come up. replaced the fuel pump twice, the head gasket and the door handles.
I will keep an eye on the power steering pump and wiper motor.
my main issue now is the 4wd system.
Is 35 pounds of oil pressure to low at idle ?
Mine sits at 15 pounds idling after warming up fully, I’m sure your fine.
1998 chevy tahoe interior lights won't shut off and radio won't shut off when doors opened or closed. Everything been replaced! tips/tricks to fix this. Thank you
Tamieka Lewis : About the interior lights. staying on , probley the on off button in the jam of the rear window. It’s not being pressed in far enough to cut the lights off. Close the doors and hold this button down with your finger lights should turn off , then adjust the button out farther.

a guy here in town has a '99 Tahoe with only 143,000 miles and is asking $2,500 and he lists it as being in "Fair" condition on craigslist, it must not be well taken care of I assume, especially with only 143,000 miles on it? I might look at it anyways just out of curiosity

Water Pump needs to be replaced every 1 year :( at least on my Chevy Tahoe 98

@@1AAuto it now has a long crank and will start but itll aburptly die after 2 or 3 secs and thowing a p1351 code and i checked the ground wires and ive replaced the ic twice icm once crankshaft postion sensor and rorary button and dis cap
and everything is in working order

@@emune_ outside driverside handle is coming apart and I've had the inside handles snap twice, driver and passenger. Lol since posting this comment I've replaced motor, transmission, injectors, distributor, sometimes my wipers don't come on when it rains, my Gauge lights flicker now......guess I jinxed myself

Everything he shiwed ive gine through with my tahoe. As if 03-08-23 my engine is leaking coolant from the manafold on the passenger side.
You didn't cover the oil filter leaks, rear main seal leaks. Those are pretty common issues on those GMs trucks

I'd like to see a top five wrong with the 07-11 CRVs. I'm guessing AC compressor would be on the list somewhere.

Here’s a problem I had with my 97 that was driving me nuts: transmission would intermittently go into limp mode, stuck in second gear, dash instruments freezing up or giving weird readings. Thought the old 4L60E needed to be replaced.
The actual fix was to replace the ignition switch on the steering column!! I could not believe it. I did that two years ago and the problem vanished.

Ive never seen one with a cracked dash. I own one and doesnt have any cracks and many of my friends own these trucks and they dont have cracks. But my buddy with 2 dodge ram pickups pretty much doesnt have a dash left😂😂😂

97 I’ve got one crack goes from windshield to ac vent in center . Still a great truck wish I had two .
Bought a 98 from someone that came with no manual anyone can point me in the direction of how to switch into 4x4 and should I be in 4x4 high or low driving in snowy conditions
If you have 4x4 you push the 4wd button on the dash.

@@naznotnas861 you don't have a 4wd then unless there's a manual lever on the floor, but I think they only did the autotrak boxes in these trucks. Are you sure it has 4wd?

Multi port injectors are common truck will run like crap omh test each injector so you don’t waste time putting them in for brand new ones and #2 injector was dead

I have a 99,fuel pump new,driver door handle broken,installed new radiator 3 years ago. The only problem I have is the service engine light on. Any ideas what can it be?

Mike Ross just do all of it’s scheduled maintenance on time and you should be good. One of the worst things I’ve seen working as a automotive tech is that people sometimes let things pile up and then it gets hard to pay for repairs. Also taking that ikon into a shop if buying from a private party would help to get it inspected from top to bottom before making a final decision.

Chevy tahoe didnt become a vehicle until 95. Before that they were a blazer.
#1 problem for any Chevrolet. It being a Chevrolet/GM vehicle.
Destroy all gm vehicles, engines, trans and bodies an all of its blueprints/plans...... Problem solved.
So pretty much Chevy problems lol
