Not sure what was going on with my brain, but I messed up on both “Dialectical Behavior Therapy” (I said “behavioral”) and Metacognitive Therapy (I said “metacognition”). The text on screen is correct, but...ya know...wanna cover my bases.
My recovery journey was greatly enhanced by the therapeutic benefits of mushrooms. Other psychedelics like DMT and LSD have also proven to be remarkable.
Psilocybin mushrooms,DMT and LSD has been quite therapeutic for me. I was diagnosed with severe depression and mental health issues, not until a friend recommended golden teachers mushroom for spiritual and mental gratification. I’ve been well ever since for about 4 years now.
I hate this disorder. People tell me it’s a gift because I’ve done a lot of cool things but my life is in utter chaos. I’ve never had a job longer than a year, never done anything long enough to get good at it, am easily addicted to any stimulant you put in front of me and am heavily reliant on them just to feel normal. I live like an absolute animal and will often stare at a persons face while they’re talking and not hear a single word. Then when those crazy million mile an hour thoughts turn negative it’s like getting hit with a fucking Gatling gun of self hatred that turns me into a self conscious and insecure mouse when I’m around people. But hey at least I’m “kinda quirky”
Omg it’s like I was reading myself , every single thing! It’s so horrible and it’s been breaking down my confidence on jobs because people laugh at me, I’ve turned into a natural comedian because I’ve learned to make my quirks funny, the conversations are horrible everything goes in one ear and out of the other and so I just have a bunch of pre recorded answers to try not to stop the awkwardness. And yes the negative thoughts all come raining down, what helps me I just keep the faith and know my future goals and work towards them and self care and , self love
It bothers me so much when the media bashes people diagnosed with ADHD. Although it can be over-diagnosed, the shade stops so many people from seeking help.
Not just the shades of adhd alone.. there are multiple main colors you can have.. adhd and autism are close related.. 40 to 70% of the diagnosed people can qualify for the other one.. ocd is common for adhd and asd so that it often becomes a triade. Shizophrenia technically is also a part of that triade, because of the oftentimes delayed gaba switch. Can't hurt to includes adhd stuff in their treatment too, if you ask me.
Part of the reason why I haven't chosen to seek out help is because I don't want to come accross as as some druggie just trying to score himself some stimulants... And I don't even want medication if I can avoid it.
@@Br4nchy28 Same. I was slow to seek help and I literally told one of my doctors that I can't handle stimulants and I don't want them... and they STILL were hesitant to even diagnose me because they thought they sensed "drug-seeking behaviors". It's such bullshit. It's the literal first line of treatment for ADHD, a very common condition, and yet so many doctors want to treat you like garbage at every step of the way. I'm sick of it.
@@Br4nchy28same. Especially when you’re in a neighborhood where there’s a high chance of coming across people on drugs. You do t want the lines to be blurred from a visit to the pharmacy.
ADHD has become a problem for me when driving. It's not like In school, if I get distracted when driving I could die or kill someone which has become a new source of anxiety.
This makes sense when possible. Sadly it’s hard for women especially women of colour to get the proper diagnosis for prescription meds. Partially because usually presents without the hyperactive element in femmes. And when it comes to skin colour in my experience many doctors think you are trying to get drugs to abuse rather than to be able to function properly.
It is a very good analogy but there can be plenty of reasons to not take medication: * It can be very expensive and not affordable for everyone * Running the real risk of getting addicted to the medication * Some people just don't vibe it
Adhd is not pain. Meds for many people don't improve their mental health but functionalize them. They can lead to problems and diseases in a certain percentage. I love my ADHD autistic mind and don't wanna silence and force it to be more functional to capitalism. That's what meds do to me. I would take them as """painkillers"""" sporadically but at least in my country you are forced to take them everyday or nothing. That's so stupid when it comes to stimulants but... the psychiatrical/medical power yeah Foucault docet.
I’m 21 and just now realizing I have adhd. I was also brainwashed as a child into not loving my father. I am an only child and I lost my mother at age 3. I grew up with lack of attention and love. I’ve been a little more curious on why I’m so forgetful and constantly depressed for no reason. thanks for the video!
I have only recently come to realize that I have ADHD at 37 years of age. Imagine that. My dream is to become a manager but my lack of planning and social skills has made that impossible. Only now I have decided it's not my fault I am not able to plan for long term. I am looking for someone who will do the planning for me and follow up any failure without criticism or punishment or sarcasm or yelling which are the responses I usually receive from my family. I am very good at executing a plan once it is formed and if it seems logical to me. Hope you will find someone who will take up that supporting role.
@@strawhanger I got frusrated having this ailment , but with the use of dr imenherbal on TH-cam herbal remedy , i have been able to get rid of ADHD ...
I have the inattentive version of "ADHD". Here in Europe we still call it simply ADD, which I prefer, because I don't have the "H" (outward hyperactivity). Medication has been a life saver. I wouldn't have been able to step up with just behavioural therapy. I have been able to compensate for a very long time in my life, but I can't force myself to remain focused more than I can, when the juice runs out. The medication (Methyl Phenidate) also keeps me in a lighter mood.
That's great! Yeah, that's the main limitation with therapy. It doesn't really make the symptoms go away, it just makes them less bothersome and less of an impediment. I think medication will always have a role to play as an ADHD treatment, but I do think it plays an outsized role in the US right now.
Same problem with me too. Nobody will understand the importance of concentration until and unless he has ADHD. coz in everyday life every work needs concentration to be done. I think person with ADHD should not have babies , so that the mental disorder won't come in next generation.it's my personal opinion. Because there is no 100% cure for ADHD.

Oh yeah? Do you see a lot of kids with these symptoms? Does your junior high have an assigned school counselor, too? I'd be curious to know how many cases they see.
My school sent me to a specialist to figure out why I was disruptive and unattentive in class when I was 6. What they found out was that I was just really bored because everyone else was learning soooooooo slowly
I was diagnosed when I was 12. I started taking medication, and then got disruptive because i realized my classmates (and teachers) were much slower than me.
Thank you for another great video on ADHD. I remember being unwilling to take ADHD medication in part because I thought it would change who I was. What really struck me was that scene in the Simpsons when Bart is given some sort of attention medicine and he ends not doing the things he used to love - basically changed. I know it's just a cartoon but it really felt the same would happen to me. I'm glad to say that it didn't happen and in fact, I can be even more myself since I can actually focus on the things I love instead of giving up and feeling dumb so thank you for this great and informative video! It really helps break these misconceptions.
This comment just hit home. First time i got the pills I felt that it change me. And I hated it that I needed to take a drug to be someone that everyone else wanted me to be. “Normal”. I take the drugs today and I feel like two different people but I need it to keep my current job. Inside battle that i wish i could end. Wish you well.
The biggest thing that helped my adhd was too cut out all stimulants including caffeine, weed, alcohol etc. Getting a good amount of sleep each night and too cut out any electronic use an hour before bed and to do something that's relaxing like reading, meditating, writing, exercise, and too include daily exercise which helped with the restlessness and boredom aspect of it. Made the biggest difference ever and was able to do it without any medication. Try and make lists that are achievable go through them each day, it's good for those who need routine and have a problem with time management.
I'm from India. when i told my parents about this problem they just said you are just making your mind diverted from studies there is nothing to be fear of😂😂. now I'm in depression stress failure and much more🤣
Diagnosed as a 37 year old….and lucky enough to find a therapist who also has adhd and specializes in it. The right therapy can definitely be very helpful! (Also medicated here.)
I don't think I have ADHD but i experience some of the symptoms in a weak form. And I figured out the methods of cbt on my own and they work great. Everyone should reflect on themselves from time to time.
*swooop* Well.. i use abc very often. Activation, belief, consequence.. and then some cognitive restructuring combined with my own symbols and rituals.. But all that only works for my co-morbids so far.. and also like 70% success rate each trial
Could use a little help 🙏😪... I have a 16 yo old son in 10th grade now. From the time he was able to read in pre-k we always thought he was a smart kid but was diagnosed w/ (Defiance behavior/attitude/response) by a social worker. I always felt he was misdiagnosed by professionals in school, Psychologist, Counsilors, a Neuro Psychiatrist which never offered any therapy that could have alleviated the problem he was experiencing. I waited until 2020 to finally allow him to try Cotempla 8.3mg, w/c works wonders with his emotional outburst, stress & behavioral issues. I'm still researching on how to choose the best Psychiatrist? To help him with therapy. I read a lot of reviews first which makes it hard to decide because most of the negative feedbacks. Should I just ignore the reviews & go for it? 🤔😥😔😟. How do I choose the best person to give my son advise and mentor him without making him feel like an outcast? Desperately seeking advice...
@@joh6191 I have ADHD and planning for future or even small tasks makes me exhausted even though I am able to eventually do it well. I would advice you either find a life coach who will do the daily planning for him or you yourself could take up that role for your son. It will be hard work but your son will thank you later when he eventually understands how to plan himself. Just don't yell, don't hit, and don't be sarcastic. Maturity in ADHD people is around age 40.
As someone with ADHD, I've had... An interesting experience, both with parents and with medications. Medication was not my jam, and I've often wondered if medications were just a way to silence kids that schools and parents had trouble understanding/controlling. You may consider this a cynical outlook, and you'd be right. But I've also seen some awful things. I went to a local event for neuroatypical students, and arts showcase, of sorts. Along with all the projects and experiences of students like me (and not like me), there was a hallway of adults, some of whom were selling products. I saw parents of kids with ADHD marketing products that were supposed to "encourage focus" by making kids unable to use their computers for anything other than their homework by only allowing certain apps and certain webpages. Parents, saying that the right way to help your kid was to force them to do what they didn't want to or couldn't do. I was appalled. I could have screamed at them, I was so furious. Don't they listen to their children? It seemed to me like if they'd asked "why doesn't this work for you" of any ADHD child, they'd have gotten feedback that would have told them that they were trying to put a square peg in a round hole. The only time that removing distractions has helped me is when I've done it myself, and other people with ADHD I've spoken to have agreed. It has to be a choice. When I can't focus any more, I need to be allowed to step back, take a breath, and go back when I feel comfortable. I'm lucky that my parents have never been the type to punish me for being ADHD, in this way or any other. Why don't adults ever ask children how to help them?
As a person with ADHD and a parent of a 10-year-old kid with ADHD, I can say that taking away certain distractions absolutely DOES help...but it doesn't solve the inability to focus. There are certain activities, like playing computer games or watching TV, that make my son's behavior worse. Because those activities give him an easy dopamine hit, it's all he wants to do so he becomes preoccupied with doing that over anything else, making it near impossible to get him to do homework, eat dinner, or even have a conversation about his day (he just wants to talk about the game or show). This can last for 3-4 days after he plays a computer or video game for just an hour. His preoccupation causes stress for us both as I try to get him to do normal daily stuff that he is capable of (and I am understanding and plan for loss of focus). Removing those activities doesn't mean he will magically be able to a whole page of homework in the 15 minutes it takes his peers, but it does mean that he will likely work on it without a fight about why he needs to do that instead of play a computer game or watch a show. My son has had teachers that didn't understand and pushed back for him to be doing "learning computer games" but they don't live with him and see how it affects him. Try to have compassion and understanding and realize that not everyone with ADHD is exactly like you.
@@nse712 I can understand what you are going through. I have seen this anxiety in my parents. I have only recently come to realize that I have ADHD at 37 years of age. Imagine that. I knew about ADHD but it was too much for me to acknowledge. An ADHD brain matures slower which means the normal planning and organization associated with maturity is absent. This for me has been very difficult. I have always been earning less than my peers. My dream is to become a manager but my lack of planning and social skills has made that impossible. Only now I have decided it's not my fault I am not able to plan for long term. Hope this helped you..
I was diagnosed with it super young, and in an effort to avoid medication my parents had me learn classical violin to improve my focus. I was absolutely 100% forced, but it did help me a lot in school and I got quite good since I started at 5 and played for about 7 years. But then I became a teenager and my ADHD took full control, I abandoned violin and have regretted it ever since. My parents basically gave up and let me do what I wanted to do and it ruined my life because someone with an inability to focus shouldn’t be allowed to run their life. I feel like I was born into a race and somebody kicked me in the balls right at the starting line and I’ve been lagging behind ever since.
@@strawhanger dude there’s no way, I refuse to believe anybody could live to 37 with this disorder and only just realize it. You must have an extremely mild case of it, which in that case simple things like improving sleep and diet will help you immensely. I had nearly every one of my teachers come to my parents and ask if they plan on putting me on medication. I’m both happy and sad they never did because it’s been horribly detrimental to my life, but has also been a gift in many ways too. Idk man if you’re just now realizing it, I think you need to take a step back and look at what you CAN control rather than submitting to the belief that you’re just broken
@@thebookwaswaybetter2827 loads of us just lived for decades thinking that our symptoms were character flaws, quietly feeling like shit, becoming depressed and anxious and medicated for that instead. If you can assume less and listen more, you'll learn more.
16 yr old junior (girl) in high school here, recently diagnosed over the summer with depression and anxiety. I also identify with practically all the adhd/add symptoms (though more the inattentive one for women and less hyperactivity)and while not formally/officially diagnosed with this disorder, both my sister and brother have it and take medication for it, so my psychiatrist started me on adderall. Adderall was a bust, it made me feel awful and I had all the bad side effects. I’m trying concerta (like Ritalin) now and while it has less uncomfortable side effects I’ve found it really hard to Distinguish wether or not it is helping me. Everyone keeps telling me it’s a fast acting drug so I should be able to tell right away the difference but I just can’t. I don’t know if this boils down to my attention just being awful( I genuinely can only handle watching this video at 1.5 speed!) Or being oblivious to everything or being depressed with my mood being at a constant low, but if there is any positive difference I can’t say I notice it. It’s tough because adderall didn’t work for me but it works for both my siblings, and I have anxiety which maybe my fidgetyness can be attributed to, so I feel really frustrated, like maybe nothing is working because I might not truly have adhd. I do think these issues may help with therapy (along with helping my anxiety/depression) but therapy is so goddamn hard to get. The waiting list for affordable or covered therapy is insane, plus it’s important to get a therapist that fits my needs and understands my situation. So while therapy and medication is probably the best solution, i wish it wasn’t so much harder than advertised.
CW: eating disorder mention. I am neither a doctor nor a therapist, nor am i the host! If i say anything that seems helpful, please talk to your physician. I just thought I'd share my experience. I was diagnosed in 2014, when i was 23, and started regular medication in August 2016. As long as your dose is high enough (which is something that takes a bit of figuring out) and you're on the right type, it starts to work almost immediately - but there are circumstances in which even the right dose will be less effective. I am recovering from an eating disorder, one side effect of which is decreasing how effective my meds are. Psychopharmiceutcal medication - that's anything that treats mental health, like ADHD meds - needs to bind with certain substances to get into the brain. My restrictive eating meant that i wasn't getting those substances and all my meds stopped working quite so well! So i'd suggest having a proteiny and carby snack when you take you dose, and make sure you eat at least every 2-3 hours. I'm also on an anti-depressant, which helps curb my own anxiety. That helps a lot too! Keep hanging in there. There are solutions - you've just gotta find the right combination! How To ADHD is another channel you might find helpful. ^_^
Just a note about medications. I also have severe anxiety and mild depression, along with ADHD, and therapy can be really helpful with distinguishing what’s what in my brain. A side note is that for women, medication levels may need to be adjusted throughout the menstrual cycle for them to work at all some days. I hope that you find a solution that works best for you!
@@dlewis895 thanks for the recs two years later lol! woebot seems super interesting but about SuperBetter… good luck trying to get my adhd ass to read a book. haven’t read a full book since middle school
It probably just doesn’t agree with your body chemistry you would know right away if the medication was working or not because unlike antidepressants which take 4 to 6 weeks to work ADHD is supposed to kick in immediately
Yep! Diagnosed as a kid, along with dyslexia, and no meds and no therapy. But they did tell me I had learning disabilities and made me go to special classes making me feel like I was stupid and different. They should’ve told me about my high IQ and got me a tutor. Would’ve solved my problems And would’ve given my self esteem a boost! Grateful I was clever enough to find tricks which helped me, like asking to be front and center in class, staying after class to ask questions, and I allowed friends to help with tedious projects. I home schooled my kids until I was sure they were typical learners, and they both are in the top of their classes. I wasn’t going to put them through what I went through!
Very informative video, imo as long as you are able to recognize adhd patterns in you and overcome them by yourself you should be successfull in personal and proffessional life
I have ADHD. Growing up I thought it Wasn't that bad. But as I go into adulthood I can see the shortcomings. I was on medication during high school. But it robbed me of my creativity, something that I Cherish. I call it my superpower. But I would trade it all if It meant I could sit down long enough to read a book, cause right now when I try, it feels that my skin is on fire. In my area there are so few doctors for so many worse mental health issues that ADHD will not be seen by a doctor. So I do my best. I make notes and stay creative. Cause I know one day I can it well change the world. I just wish I can concentrate long enough to do it.
The combination of therapy and medication being the most successful form of treatment is not surprising. I agree wholeheartedly that therapy is a very useful tool and has shown some significant improvements in the quality of life for children, parents and adults who are effected by this. Comments do not seem to be appearing in the comments section. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and wisdom on the topic.
I haven't found any effective medication for me. Stimulants either do nothing or increase my anxiety. One medication lowered my blood pressure too much. I would nearly pass out every time I stood up!
Iran governmental insurance supports medication treatment so it costs free but counsling therapy is pretty much expensive and not supported by governmental insurance. but in Iran, all universities are scholarshiped by the government so something like CBT costs nothing for me as a student , and you know all unis have mental health center and is free for its students so I use it and am under CBT too.
I started taking medications a week ago and it is a life changer, i had therapy and it helped a lot with the depression but i still couldnt concentrate on a task or i get distracted with random toughts and sounds, even with my training in meditation, estoicism and budhism i had a lot of problems. So i think the best combination is both, theraphy and medication.
Both are essential. After three diagnoses and having such a hard time with life because of my ADHD I finally found a med that works the best and started taking my meds religiously for a year so far. I also meditate daily. I would have never developed the meditation routine along with other healthy habits if it weren’t for adderrall. Adderall has changed my life. It’s not a 100% fix for everything but honestly feels like my brain was broken prior to taking it routinely. People judge meds and spread so much crap around with no experience of what it’s like to have this disorder and how drastically meds on their own can help those with ADHD. I rarely used to post comments but nowadays I do because the stigma affects all of us ADHD brains. It can literally result in some of us wanting to commit suicide because the impairments impact our lives a great deal. The average person casually uses the words ADD as a joke without a speck of knowledge of the executive functions of the brain nor how these are impacted by ADHD. Etc etc etc. the ADHD brain is done.
Thank you for your vidéos ! I'm a second year medicine french student (sorry for my english) and I really enjoy loocking at your videos. But I wanted to make an observation. I think that is better to speack about patient instead of client because in that kind of professions you dosen't only do your job to get pay, you do not answer the same kind of service as a restaurant ou a hairdresser. When you are a therapist I think that you'r doing a public service mission and that deserved to use an other word than client Anyway thank you for what your are doing and continue like that :)
I think this is missing a few things, exercise, breathing, diet and mindfulness exercises very important factors in ADHD. Diet is especially important in inattentive type ADHD, as many have dietary sensitivities that produce brain fog. For me, I had a gluten sensitivity for many years and had no idea that had caused lethargy and brain fog, wasn't until I had an elimination diet that we had found out that I was sensitive to a variety of foods. Everything improved beyond that.
I relate to this comment a lot. I recently found out that gluten has been causing me a lot of issues at the age of 35 and now I'm starting to realise there's a large crossover with the inattentive symptoms of ADHD. I haven't been diagnosed or assessed, but I realise I have built many mechanisms to manage symptoms over the years of not knowing. I'm hoping things will improve since I've focused more on my diet.
Because every person is an individual I think learning about and trying different therapies and meds are the way to go. It requires interest and love for yourself or who ever has the ADHD. It’s difficult to love someone who acts out but it’s essential to differentiate between them and their actions or behaviors. Learning about emotions and how to regulate them is definitely a must.
I live in France, where the directive for ADHD is that doctors should try therapy first, and medication if it doesn't work. Also , we don't really acknowledge that adults can have ADHD for... reasons. Having tried that approach myself, behavioral therapy alone helps, but not enough to live a reasonably sane life (not constantly stressing over deadlines, fighting demotivation and such) because willpower is just too scarce a resource. Stimulant medication remains, for me and so far, the only way to fix that. OTOH, I have read reports of people needing less stimulant medication with therapy, and I could totally imagine that I would need more of it if I didn't underwent CBT.
As a guy who has Autism Spectrum (found out) Man right now it is very difficult to Concentrate So I am going to cure it myself Pls give me luck guys (you can like if you want but it is your wish)
I found out I have inattentive adhd as an adult. I am learning so much about myself cos so many people In my life made me feel bad about how I was. Eventually I started to hate myself because I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t be like them either. Now I finally realise I have ADHD, social anxiety and dyslexia so I am beginning to understand why I am the way I am. But it’s just to negative thoughts I am trying to get rid of so I can re- program my brain because I now understand my brain doesn’t operate like everyone else’s (aka normal people) I learn and do things differently. That’s okay I feel like I have so much healing to do to kick what all these people said to me to the side. My brain is just different it’s not it’s just the adhd. I really want to learn more and how to not fix it but to cope with it
I have post it notes all over for reminders and reminders in my journal about how I love my family and I don’t want to lash out at them to help me to be more mindful. I hurt my own feelings by hurting my loved ones’ feelings.
Ah! As a female with inattentive ADHD no one can tell I have ADHD as im always told " pay attention " and " clean up your mess " if I spilled something I wouldn't care. I can't ask for medication since my mom thinks I don't have ADHD and that I'm just " Acting like a kid " I have gave her hints SO MANY and she just doesn't get it. It's annoying.
@@sayalijambhale Honestly people are stupid. I really hope they realize you have ADHD or a chance of having ADHD. Honestly, just because you don't look like you have it doesn't give someone the right to just assume you don't have it. Pretty messed up.
I believe I was on adderall in 4th grade, took my personality completely away and made me a zombie absolutely hated it and also this tiny little pill that tasted like paper. Stopped taking it because I didn't want to and also a family friend with ADHD got Tourettes while on hers and my mom didn't want that for me. So I've been lucky to learn alot of coping mechanisms for mine and its definitely no easy feat but I feel it is very beneficial and most people with ADHD should be able to learn these things as well.
Medication is not the way maybe for some but it takes everything about you and changes you it’s terrible you feel so out of it and you don’t even know who you are when your on it
Everyone is different :) For me, my brain was either constantly foggy or running like a speeding train. I was constantly exhausted, yet still fidgety and unable to relax. I had no motivation to do anything, trying to complete tasks was physically, mentally, and emotionally painful. Medication gives me a clear head so I can think properly, without struggling to form thoughts or dealing with dozens of thoughts at once. I still struggle with motivation but I'm much better at setting goals and working towards them (and I've reached quite a few!).
ADHD has been a struggle for me. I’m always starting projects and then giving up on them extremely quickly just to move onto the next fad. I have shuffle keeping track of Time and it sometimes I’m really hyp active and nothing times I’m just really lazy and I don’t want do anything. I tend to be forgetful aswell. Recently it’s become more of a problem because as time goes on the skills that I have trouble with due to ADHD become more important. I take extremely long on tests because I tend to become distracted and people get annoyed because of my hyperactivity. It started to cause more anxiety and stress than it usually does. Since I don’t have a constant doctor or therapist right now I’m trying to take control of it myself and find a way to become semi-normal.

Yeah From experience of hearing from others I definitely have the symptoms of ADHD Specifically the Combination type from what I've been told by others
I don’t take adhd meds (or at least havnt found the right one) because they horribly increase my anxiety that I already deal with and so they end up being not worth the additional mind-scramble
There's a "notable" gamer out there (won't name for obvious reasons) who seems to mess up a lot in "stupid" ways like completely missing an obvious path in a maze. I guess he has the "obscure" kind of ADHD.
I’ve worked with a lot of special needs kids over the years and I can tell you that behavioral therapy does way more good than most meds ever could. There is a time and place for medication and it has great benefits for those who actually need it, but I think it shouldn’t be our collective knee-jerk reaction to stuff a pill down someone’s throat (especially a child) when that pill can come with such a cost to their overall health.
I discovered I've been diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 30, possibly from my mom side, because i can tell her behavior, and sometimes i forget things, discracted, and lost in thought... In school they thought i have Learning Disability, but they never saw my real symptoms.
I spent twenty adult years trying to cope with adhd without meds, because I hated methylphenidate and I hated the idea of changing my brain with medication. By God I wishI hadn't, now on lisdexamphetamine I realise that all the strategies in the world cannot compensate for the right medication. If it's truly adhd, it needs medication. End of. There maybe many people with attentional difficulties that have other causes, but if it is actually adhd, your brain needs stimulants, that's that. What I have discovered as well is that people that have adhd find stimulants profoundly relaxing, in such contrast to the normal effect. It seems to me that that could really be the litmus test between adhd and other focussing problems: stimulants help everyone focus but if they make you feel profoundly relaxed and getting a sense of organisation from that, even sleepy when tired, that is surely a sign that there's something actually definably different in brain function that is causing memory, organisation attention etc difficult ies. I'm still dubious about giving it to small children who can't evaluate their experiences effectively, but after that, take the meds and save yourself the exhaustion of banging your head against a brick wall.
I'm 18 and have inattentive type ADHD. I've tried several different medications with no effect. I've also tried CBT and related therapy with no effect. I might give DBT a try, if I have access to it. My mom doesn't believe in inattentive ADHD, and she still controls my insurance, so I never got childhood intervention and still have difficulty getting access to treatment. Even if I manage to find a therapist, I'm not optimistic since I seem to be resistant to every treatment.
There's no therapist in our area that specializes in therapy for ADHD. There's plenty of therapists that list it among a dozen other things, but they don't specialize in it.
Thank you for the video, it’s very helpful. I’m on medication but honestly don’t feel like it really helps unless I’m on a high dose - but then I’m super focused and can’t stop
Ground breaking news! I was able to treat my ADHD by switching to the carnivore diet. Within 48 hours of no carbs/sugar and eating only meat and fat, my depression disappeared and my ADHD symptoms began subsiding. My short term memory loss, lack of focus, and inability to multitask are becoming a thing of the past. No drugs, memberships, or therapy required!
I'm 17 and I have been noticing I never finish anything I start and start with another before I finish any other tasks... And often when I'm talking to people I can't really listen to them my mind wanders off. (*these are just some of my symptoms) 😪
I'm a 15 year old with inattentive adhd,I want to get diagnosed by a doctor to see how heavymy adhd is,but I'm scared to tell my asian parents cause they might think I'm just making excuses for getting bad grades and always forgetting to do chores that I was told to do
i have the combined type. and its been cuasing problems since i was a child but im managed to be succesful in my own way but it is hard especially focusing and finishing personal projects or tasks.
I have severe inattentive ADHD. Medication was helpful in treating it as an adult… but with the medication shortage I have no option but to figure out a non pharmaceutical alternative.
As an adult who is being treated for ADHD and participating in CBT. If my life depended on me choosing either therapy or meds, I would go with meds. But I don't want to understate how effective therapy can be when you put in the effort to make it effective. With the medicine and therapy combination, you are attacking the symptoms of your mental illness from the physiological side and the psychological side.
My 3 year old girl is having ADHD. She has speech delay. She is running through out the day . She is not sitting in a single place. She is not concentrating on our words.
Came here because its just 3days has been the school year started., my kindergarten son doesnt behave in school and its different from adjusting. He has behavior that i cant predict.😔🥺
Not sure what was going on with my brain, but I messed up on both “Dialectical Behavior Therapy” (I said “behavioral”) and Metacognitive Therapy (I said “metacognition”). The text on screen is correct, but...ya know...wanna cover my bases.
Maybe you have ADhD too... ;-)

Dear! Therapy is so damn expensive 💀
Hey mate, Can someone help me with the source?
doctorcyruss is your guy, got all kinds of psychedelics, and the most knowledgeable that I know.
Yes, and TikTok, highly recommended.
It's amazing how they work better than antidepressants and serve recreational purpose as well.
I relate to this so much. I hope things are going better for you 💚
You have no idea how relatable that comment was. 🥲
This how i feel like a beast
Acting on instinct ☹️
My story in a nutshell
@@cobalius he meant shade like throwing shade like talking shit

ADHD has become a problem for me when driving. It's not like In school, if I get distracted when driving I could die or kill someone which has become a new source of anxiety.
Try doing the self stimulation for focus so fidget with something and see if that helps keep you focused while driving
I have the same problem. In india 90% people don't even know there are some mental disease.
Listening to music or a podcast helps me
It’s been shown that even in very little kids, coffee could actually be a replacement for stimulants, or at least a temporary crutch
I take coffee before driving and it works
I see therapy as pain tolerance training and medication as painkillers. Theres no reason to not just use both.
He said that same thing at the end. Combine the two
Damn what a great explanation. I’m stealing it.
It is a very good analogy but there can be plenty of reasons to not take medication:
* It can be very expensive and not affordable for everyone
* Running the real risk of getting addicted to the medication
* Some people just don't vibe it
Adhd is not pain.

I also have inattentive type and I think of the H as applying to my brain's hyperactivity.

Thanks Barris! That is so great to hear. Yeah, I remember that episode of The Simpsons. It's interesting how much they got wrong.
This comment just hit home. First time i got the pills I felt that it change me. And I hated it that I needed to take a drug to be someone that everyone else wanted me to be. “Normal”.
I take the drugs today and I feel like two different people but I need it to keep my current job. Inside battle that i wish i could end.

For me personally, my old ADHD medication made me depressed. It took away my personality.

How is going with medications?
How did the opioid epidemic begin? It’s possible that stimulants epidemic also happen?
OOF.. when you listed off the symptoms of inattentive type, you basically just explained all my day to day struggles
When you are a therapist I think that you'r doing a public service mission and that deserved to use an other word than client
Anyway thank you for what your are doing and continue like that :)
I got frusrated having this ailment , but with the use of dr imenherbal on TH-cam herbal remedy , i have been able to get rid of ADHD ...
This is one of the first videos I actually watched till the end.
I easily loose attention
I search for this topic, get lost in shorts about ADHD. Swipe down and it leads to endless scrolling
i have the mixed type and recently relapsed this was actually helpful
Try to think of a character with inattentive sub-type: wait does being the hero in my own story count?
As a guy who has Autism Spectrum (found out)
Man right now it is very difficult to
Concentrate
So I am going to cure it myself
Pls give me luck guys (you can like if you want but it is your wish)
The "Do you know someone with ADHD?" question in the sidebar is currently at 100% "Yes" -- Interesting!
Im 50 years old, had over 30 jobs and have just realised I have ADHD.
I really want to learn more and how to not fix it but to cope with it
I have both types of adhd I got diagnosed in 1st grade
I have post it notes all over for reminders and reminders in my journal about how I love my family and I don’t want to lash out at them to help me to be more mindful. I hurt my own feelings by hurting my loved ones’ feelings.
Ah! As a female with inattentive ADHD no one can tell I have ADHD as im always told " pay attention " and " clean up your mess " if I spilled something I wouldn't care. I can't ask for medication since my mom thinks I don't have ADHD and that I'm just " Acting like a kid " I have gave her hints SO MANY and she just doesn't get it. It's annoying.
The same thing is happening with me. Like they don't believe ADHD and this kind of thing even exists. I'm struggling a lot 😭😔
What coping mechanisms did you learn. Can you tell some
ADHD has been a struggle for me.
I have the same symptoms, did you figure out any ways to help yourself?
@@yolo1718 music helps, redirecting my attention helps, and just forcing myself to do stuff works

Well thats the first time I heard only 13% of diagnosis get treated. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 6 years old and never found out till I skimmed some school board papers when I going through college and was trying to get my class benefits transferred over 🤷♀️ it sucks that this is the norm.
It seems it's always either adults or little kids when adhd is being discussed. Wish there was more info on it for teens like myself.

Watching this really makes me want to give my 7yr son a adhd evaluation just for my concerns .
I hope you reply to my comment.
Do you think there's a way to lessen the symptoms without meds or therapy? My mother REFUSES to ever believe I have any mental illnesses, no matter what. And I'm only a 14 y/o girl and ADHD symptoms literally affect every single detail of my everyday life. I hope you reply, I don't know what to do
Yeah From experience of hearing from others
I definitely have the symptoms of ADHD
Specifically the Combination type from what I've been told by others
How can I convince my mother to get me ADHD therapy?
“Think of a character from a tv show that has adhd”
Me with adhd: ….idk
Luz Noceda
Marcy Wu?
Bart Simpson
Idk those r on the top of my headdd
I have both😢
I discovered I've been diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 30, possibly from my mom side, because i can tell her behavior, and sometimes i forget things, discracted, and lost in thought...
The moment he talked about the inattentive subtype of adhd i felt like i was being described as a person😭
Therapy isn't unpopular, it's simply more expensive. 😢
I thought of Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec but also Andy Dwyer. He works too.
I see this symptoms and i laughed hard cuz its describing me literally. I read the symptoms remebering the way i did it and laugh hard
I have adhd I’m a girl ;-;
Me too!
Coudnt miss this WiiU controller just at the beginning. What a hero. I guess it is my more-than-likely ADHD
It was so sad when you listed the inattentive type and it literally described me as a person. Why can’t I be the average person, without ADD.
I'm 17 and I have been noticing I never finish anything I start and start with another before I finish any other tasks... And often when I'm talking to people I can't really listen to them my mind wanders off. (*these are just some of my symptoms) 😪

I'm a 15 year old with inattentive adhd,I want to get diagnosed by a doctor to see how heavymy adhd is,but I'm scared to tell my asian parents cause they might think I'm just making excuses for getting bad grades and always forgetting to do chores that I was told to do
It's amazing to know that you can speak this good and direct to the topic despite having ADHD disorder.. I'm 14 and I struggle with communication.

i have the combined type. and its been cuasing problems since i was a child but im managed to be succesful in my own way but it is hard especially focusing and finishing personal projects or tasks.
I have severe inattentive ADHD. Medication was helpful in treating it as an adult… but with the medication shortage I have no option but to figure out a non pharmaceutical alternative.
when this man started walking i was happy cuz ik my ass was finna click out the video cuz it got boring 😭
I am one of the people with adhd. ( I am a girl by the way. Not trying to be rude.) I have all types....my life is hard. Thank-you this vid helped.
Hi sir My son has mild ADHD can I talk to you personally about it??
my parents always call me unfocused, idk if this is adhd or im just weird
