    Donyboy73, just noticed this was published 8 years ago, and all credit to you that you actually still answer. Wonderful, clear instructions and great closeups. Many thanks. I have two vital things that won't start, and it is almost December, 2018. Murray Lawn Mower 6.5 hp Briggs and Straton (which I use without bag to chop 100 bags of leaves a year into tea leaves for flower beds. It worked perfectly for years, then recently trouble starting, won't start. Changed spark, new air filter...then gas came through the air filter. Think it is the carb so searching TH-cam. 10.5 Mastercraft snowblower 29 " Tecumseh also won't start. Will report back if I figure it out, but grateful for you excellent videos.

    I replaced my blown (con rod thru cylinder wall) adjustable jet 1996 Tecumseh 10HP Snow King with a new one that has the black plastic cap over the idle jet screw. As there was no spring on the idle jet screw, I suspected it, had been re-designed as a fixed jet, and after unclogging the jet I snugged it down just slightly more than finger-tight. Fired up, the motor runs great at full and idle. Your video was a great help, and snow is due tonight.

    You can not believe how happy I was to find your videos. I inherited an old monster Craftsman Trac snowblower that hadn't been used in a few years and didn't even run right when it was. I spent the summer searching for information on it, starting with the manual, which is about as elusive as a unicorn. You're videos not only helped me fix some of the problems, but they taught me the actual names of the parts instead of having to refer to them as "that dewhickey thingy."

    I rebuilt a Tecumseh 5.5's carb 2 years ago, then put it away for a season only to have it fail to start. Snow wasn't bad enough till now so I took it apart, cleaned it and replaced a washer and cap. I would not have done as well as I did if not for the specific details you gave and video of the spray coming through. You made sure the glare from the light didn't prevent understanding. My machine is running smoother and better than ever. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge. You do good for people.

    Thank you very much for posting this video. I have a 1995 Troy Bilt with a Tecumseh engine. Which I haven't done much to it except change the oil the belts once and the spark plug and cutting edge once. Every spring I run it until it runs out before storage.The first time today of all times it would not fire up. I pulled the plug and it was fouled with fuel. So I figured the float was stuck and needed a little tickle. I did as you posted in the video. I turned the float adjustment in all the way out 1 1/2 turns out. Gave it a yank and she fired off on the first pull. I did a final adjustment and she is running like a champ. Of course the weathermen were wrong again. Suppose to picked up 2-4 inches and presently we have a foot and it's still snowing.

      One recommendation if you do another, suggest that fuel tank be emptied after the carburetor is removed. The old fuel had a funky orange color to it. Many of us don't think to completely empty the tank after the season is over and this oftentimes causes the carburetor to gum up.

  • @Mr_Tecumseh
    @Mr_Tecumseh 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Over a long period of time, if your Tecumseh engine does not run perfect even after a carb rebuild or replace it means the engine has been worn. Next step after that is an exhaust valve grind at its end so it closes all the way and a decarbinization. That should bring it back to life fully and if that doesn't do it you replace the engine. Tecumseh winter engines are still the best winter engines out their. My Snapper had 12 years of commercial use and that engine has up over 1000 hours of service easily and it had pumped a lot of snow really well a very long time. Even now it still runs pretty descently after a real headache rebuilding the carb. No engine lasts forever, but these engines last a good long time, are very reliable and work hard. Mine is an 02, 8 hp HMSK80 with an adjustable carb on a Snapper 8246. Best snowblower I ever used to this day and I have tried many.

    Boy, couldn't figure out how to make my Ariens carb adjustments until your video. Put on a new carb and wasn't getting the high throttle to plow through the snow. Thank you for your detailed instructions.

    Very clear video, thank you. I have Tecumseh engines on my snowblower and my chipper/shredder. Your video provides a great deal of information, I now feel confident that I can properly adjust the carburetors on my equipment.

    Hey thanks for this video... I just finished cleaning and tuning the carburetor on a 80's 9 horse craftsman snow blower I got from a friend. Got it up and running like a top with your help. Thanks again

    Thanks for your help. I took my blower in & they had the carb adjusted too lean. I wasn't sure how to adjust it. You really helped me out.

    Thanks donyboy73, Without your video I'd have been lost. Followed your suggestions and darn if the John Deere 828d snow blower seems to be running and idling the best it has in a long while. Thanks so much for posting your videos.
