      It is a great watch. It really could be my every day watch.
      But I have too many. But definitely a big part of my regular rotation.

    This video really helped me make the decision to get the Sumo, this exact model. I own a Shinola 47mm and a G Shock Mudmaster so I am no stranger to large watches on my 7” wrist. This is just as comfortable as my G Shock, has great presence, and is a solid value. Thanks for helping me out James!

    I agree the Sumo is one of Seiko’s best. I now have 2, the original pre prospex Blumo Gen 1 Japanese domestic market only and just added the newest Sumo Hulk, they really nailed The green colour.

    I just ordered this design a few days ago and looking forward to experiencing the wear of it. I have a vast collection of Seiko's, Tissot, Tag Heuer, and Bulova. All of them are automatic and I keep them in a winder which is nice since I have a touch of arthritis in my hands. To quote Kevin O'leary... "Collecting watches is a disease..."

    I find what keeps me interested in a watch is the sculpt. The sumo has one of the most visually appealing case…..regardless of price, even most luxury brands pails in comparison.

    I own the SBDC033 J1 Blumo (2nd Gen JDM). It has the 6R15 movement and it is COSC accurate! I was surprised. I have several Turtles and Samurais plus the coveted SKX. This is my favorite Seiko to wear. Although it measures large, the shape of the cushion case makes it feel much smaller on wrist. The finishing is not quite Grand Seiko level, but it is close. AND, my bezel perfectly aligns!!!! I did replace the bracelet with a Strapcode oyster style bracelet. This is my favorite Seiko, for now. I am actually wearing it now. 😁 I have a very large (107) watch collection. A large number of which are G-Shocks. So I tend to change watches throughout the day sometimes. They are all in cases next to my desk. I say this only because the Sumo is the one that is not in a case and is on my desk whenever I'm not wearing it. It has become my go-to watch.

    I have a slightly smaller size wrist at 6.5in but I have this watch and can confirm that it wraps around the wrist well.

    • @WATCHingJames
      @WATCHingJames  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This watch is amazing. Amazing that such a large watch can fit smaller wrists.
      It is still the best Seiko I’ve experienced

    • @ibastratepi

      @WATCHing James Compared to the older sumos, turtles and samurai...maybe even against the shogun, yes I think this sumo is better. It's such an original design and the case is fantastic. I doubt if any Swiss manufacturer would even attempt to mass produce something like this.

    Beautiful watch James. I don’t know about that retail price, I think it’s definitely priced fairly at the price, but worth more than that, I’m not so sure about that, I would definitely get one on the grey market for sure. My new solar quartz prospex is fantastic, and is missing some elements that yours has but is half the price.
    Have to agree about the case shape, that’s fantastic, and drill lug holes I totally agree with you there, use quick release spring bars if you want to do something convenient that doesn’t interrupt the look of the case profile

    • @WATCHingJames
      @WATCHingJames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It really is a stunning watch.
      Perhaps it feels like a bargain because I’m comparing it against similar priced prospex watches I own.

    Hi, great review. I want to buy a Sumo Hulk for $650 AUD. I noticed that in some of the stores there is a Noosa version (mid blue) with an supplementary rubber strap. You can get them for $1300 AUD. They are limited to 1000 units. Is there much of a difference between the two watches apart from exclusively and an extra strap? Is it worth double the price?

    • @WATCHingJames
      @WATCHingJames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It looks the same but with some different colours.
      It does look nice but I don’t think it’s worth the addition cost.

    • @WATCHingJames
      @WATCHingJames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it would be too big unfortunately. It is a big watch. I think my 6.75 is the smallest it would fit.

    Hey James. I was hoping you could help me out. In regards to the Calendar window... your watch has a white box around it. however the exact same model on Seiko website does not. There seems to be two variants of this watch with same model number. Could you help me out here. i dont think one is fake and the other real, maybe a year date???? Thank you

    • @user-ep3ob8bx4o
      @user-ep3ob8bx4o 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Actually James, Even in your video Cover photo. You can see the image of the watch on the left doesnt have the white box, whereas your purchased one does. I hope you can shed some light here

      I am aware that there are a few models of this watch available and I think there may be a series 1 and series 2.
      I can’t recall the exact differences but this may be the reason

      @user-ep3ob8bx4o 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your prompt response. I am researching to find out which variant is the series 1/2. I have found the two different series on two sites for the same price. So preferably the newer series id want to purchase. If you find anymore info please let me know. Thanks again@@WATCHingJames

    I personally find the sumo being better than the samurai as the case Finnish and design is just so unique and less not forget a an original JDM release, released to the rest of us after. It wont look out of place 5 to 10 years later design wise. The samurai while cheaper isnt a bad watch but its angular profile makes it wear lager while the taper and bulbous shape of the sumo give it a only dial look on the wrist even far away, while the samurai will look larger from a distance especially on medium to smaller wrists.

    • @WATCHingJames

  • @michaelbradley5722

    They got so much right with the Sumo. When you hold it in your hand all the angles just blow you away.
    What am a saying. I don't own one and haven't even held one. I didn't have that higher expectations and bought the SN079-G (black enamel dial - BGW9 Blue lume) without really knowing what the sharpest price was for a SPB101J. I can't imagine ever letting it go and might even buy a SPB101J some time. SM actually got some aspects of the watch better than Seiko.
