Hi Ken--- Just an old fart here with his 107, but retired. Really enjoyed this VLOG of your day flying for $$$. Please keep them coming, as well as your usual content. Take Care.
Definitely a great tool when you are working with undeveloped property. It lets you see an overlay of property lines from county records. The subscription model may have changed since I used it last, but it was very helpful when I did a bunch of raw land work. It is an app for hunters to use when they are in the field, and it lets you cache maps for when you don’t have connection.
Hey Ken. Love all the videos you put out. Videos like this peek my interest cause I love to see “a day in the life” of those who are in this profession. One day I’ll be in the same profession, but until then, Your videos and others help me figure out how things work, will work and it encourages me to keep flying. Thank you 🙏🏽 And keep the videos coming
Mad respect for your work ethics and glad it's paying off for you in dollars and cents. Good to see the M3 pulling its weight after the first long wait.
Yeah a metal plate or panel behind a antenna acts as a Reflector. Thus giving MORE gain / sensitivity. But its directional. Straight the opposite side of the Reflector. Just like satellite dish. The truck bed was doing that. Also the Cab of the truck would block sats in that direction. So on top of the cab would be the best spot. Thank heavens they fixed GPS issue with that update!
I love those days.. I only average $800 per day but it’s nearly 7 days a week (sometimes I get lucky and can take a day off or at least a 4 hr stretch) Cheers Ken! Great day sir!
I’m looking to get into this with my son (he is currently 12) what’s the process to get into this style work? There are a ton of real estate companies and contractors in my area…just not sure what I can market to them.
Raw land photos and videos are always fun here in Texas. We have to be careful with property owners that don’t like drones. It is good and challenging work being self sufficient out there. What are you using for field charging and data connection? Also, good work man.
Hello, I'm just starting out, like about to take my 107 test, I want to do real estate work and can't seem to find a video on where you get the information to draw the property lines. How do you match up that info to your pictures? Keep up the good work!
Thanks Ken. I had to remember, but this is all in Florida yes? How did you line up so many sites in one session? That's pretty cool by itself. You must have big respect down there by now. In any case, I'm still wanting to do this - but not yet able to begin. I do learn a lot from you though. Wish I could use it right now.
I returned my Mavic 3 today and picked up an Air 2s to solve the gps problems of the 3. The quality of the air 2s is great for my real estate work in the mountains, and because of its size I can really tuck it into the trees. When DJI can sort the GPS maybe I’ll think about the 3, but sitting around while the drone locks and loses satellites in front of clients is just embarrassing.
Hey Ken, I'm stuck working out what to do. I filmed a large oversized move from one company to another, using a 3rd company to do the transport The first company allowed me to film on thier property over the 3 days, but just wanted photos not video. The other two companies asked if they could have any video that I thought might be appropriate for them. Well I've done up 3 videos, a near real time, a shortened video and a presentation. All 3 companies now want to pay me for copies. There was no formal contract in place with any of them. Total $$ I could earn is around $6.5k from all 3 companies for all 3 videos. I guess what I'm asking is should I accept payment from all 3 companies or should I get them talking to each other and basically only take one payment
Thanks for taking us along! I’ve always thought you worked hard, so it was nice to see what a typical day is for you. Is it time to hire another to help?
Ken, great depiction of what a true Drone Guy does! My clients all appreciate the extra hours to make each shot right as well. I'm right across the Bay in Safety Harbor.
I run hunting leases, would like to get one of these to help me make listings, and show the properties. Sizes ranging from 40 acres to 400, just don’t know if these will travel that distance
Thanks for sharing, I was kind of wondering how you would get the acrerate gps for your client's. I know the gps systems the surveyor s. Use cost several thousand dollars.
Hi, Ken! Catching up on your TH-cam work. Thank you for sharing your work involving using a drone for mapping. That’s actually my primary interest with drones. Do you have, or could you do, a tutorial type video for mapping?
Thanks for the reply, Ken. Is it not mapping because that falls under the umbrella of surveying? My interest comes from my background in economics and data analytics, so I’m looking to increase my “tool set” a little bit by expanding my GIS skills and experience.
Great video Ken! Wouldn't it be easier to connect the M3 to USB to pull the photos off instead of wrangling the card out of that tiny slot after you land each time? My Cine lets me see both SD Card and SSD when connected via USB...might save some frustration. :)
Hey ken love your videos I have a question? I want to get into drone world I really enjoy what your doing in this video how would I get into this field what's the steps to get started I'm study for my part 107 hopefully your doing well hope to hear from you soon keep it up man.
Love your video. I've found out that most birds fly a maximum of 125'. I start at that and increase my altitude higher if I need to. About how much do you charge for one of the properties?
Really diggin’ these types of vids Ken…I noticed you kept taking your batts out before storing the mavic, have you had any adverse effect from keeping one locked in and ready to go? Cheers!
Nice work. You mentioned GIS, love it! I wonder if you could have used the Mission Planner using the Evo II Pro to complete this faster. Multiple properties per mission, just a thought.
Would like more info on what software is being used, I’m new to the civilian side of drone photography. I’m a US ARMY COMBAT VET looking to start my drone photography business
Well it appears that part of the problem with the satellite acquisition is the fact that DJI didn’t use GloNass with the Mavic three but used Galileo and BeiDou in conjunction with the GPS network which meant on-call route it needs to load three almanacs and three lots of ephemeris data and the refresh rate is only 3 Hz instead of the 5 Hz it would be with just the two systems dam clever bloke this guy that did all this apparently the automotive chipset is exactly the same chipset but has a higher temperature tolerance so it shouldn’t really be the chip set. But he actually bought a Mavic 3GPS module and took it apart and run tests on it
I closed on my first home 04/10/2023 😂🎉. Besides that I bought a m3p last week and also own the air 2s. Trying to transition from the flying for fun stage, to making money stage……. Any pointers.
All my respects to you and your work! I'm close to getting back the amount I've paid for my Mavic 3 thanks to all those people who trusted me for those side projects.
That was really cool to watch your day, how did you decide how/where to place the lines? Is there a program that helps give you plots of land locations? Besides my question I also want to say don’t grind too hard, as someone who’s Dad was never around in the beginning (always working SBO) it was harder later in life to relate with one another and it kinda ruined things for us… Not saying you don’t put family first, I just see you working your ass off all the time.
Interesting. If I had a choice of jobs between shooting houses and shooting pre-developed/in-development properties ... or the houses for sale (with people and "stuff") ... I'd choose the raw properties ... even at a lower fee for the work. Cheers, Chuck (North East Florida) : +)
Yeah there’s pros and cons to it I guess, With the house that’s lived in you always know what you’re shooting with vacant land it’s a little difficult sometimes but there’s never a complaint
Damn Ken , you working too many hrs. But I used to do that shit too. Just don't burn the candle at both ends too often. At 63 now I'm paying the price. Burned out construction worker. Family 👪 1st but hey 3 K in one day . 👍👍👍👍👊
So you are charging about $187 per property. How many photos are you supplying them for this service? Are you including a video fly by at this price point as well? This is when you need your flying tiger eyes on that thing to keep the birds away!
Thanks 👍🏻 Gotta Love Sunshine AND You live in DeSantis territory! A true Mask-FREE State. 😷🤡🤣 Hopefully - someday - the GPS “issue” can be repaired via firmware flash. I still love the O3 range / telephoto/ battery life.

Well my bank accounts says otherwise.. weird how people keep paying me for not working. But anyways I’m sure unemployment will take good care of you 😎 stay. Original.
@OriginaldoBo yeah I bet. What you do can be done by a 10 year old girl. So no it's not work . Sitting in your moms basement and playing on your computer may make you money but it's not man's work . Never spent a single day of my life on unemployment and likely never will , your little "business" however will likely land you there and pressing buttons isn't a real world skill that's gonna get you anywhere when a recession happens people no longer waste money for drone services.
Sorry can’t hear you the money counting machine was going blac blac blac blac… I’ll toss a few bands to your mother while she’s on the pole tonight… tell your wife I like my martinis shaken not stirred… I’ll be the guy pressing the buttons.

Brother, this is what the community needs, it will create competition, but being a Shepard will only rise your status/ value.
OnX Hunt could help with property boundaries. I use it all the time when I’m in rural locations.
I’ll look into them! Thanks man

Great Job Ken. Hey man that was some good work dude. Keep that up. Thanks for all you do and please keep flying.
It's $3000 with the Mavic 3 and your efforts at pre-planning and on-the-day filming! Great to see your work Ken! Thanks!
Do you have a video out there that explains how to overlay the GIS lines on a photo?
Thx. Great video as usual

Raw land photos and videos are always fun here in Texas. We have to be careful with property owners that don’t like drones. It is good and challenging work being self sufficient out there. What are you using for field charging and data connection? Also, good work man.
Truck has a hot spot and outlets in the bed and in the cab. I’m just constantly rotating batteries out as I go.

Great work Ken. Respect the grind!
Thanks for showing us your work ethic. Simultaneously inspiring and challenging to see what it takes to run your own business.
Do I really need a drone with a mechanical shutter for mapping? I already have the mavic 3 and air 2s.
Love the vids bro .how was your able to locate property lines?
GIS is on public records
Good insight of your grind, many don't understand that it is work
Right on Ken. Mad respects to ya bro. Your a work machine 🤘🏻👊🏻 .

Thank you Ken , great and very informative video, for RE professionals !
Thanks for taking us along! I’ve always thought you worked hard, so it was nice to see what a typical day is for you. Is it time to hire another to help?

Nice day in the life ...On the RC Pro....do you think that screen warrants a screen protector? Or do you feel it is durable enough on it's own?
Thanks for taking us along with you on a work day. And now I know why your looking for an assistant in the office. Great video, and thanks sharing.
That's a great ROI for the Mavic 3! Cheers to that and to more projects knocking on your door!
This is awesome. How did you land that job?
What's the largest SD card that drone will support?
do you use pix4d or drone deploy? which app works best?
I run hunting leases, would like to get one of these to help me make listings, and show the properties. Sizes ranging from 40 acres to 400, just don’t know if these will travel that distance
are you pairing SC Pro with M3 standard?
RC Pro

Hey Ken! What kind of monitor do you use? I am looking for one for my drone footage editing and I like the look of yours.
38inch LG

Mostly because it’s easier to get at the SD card.. not really anything about the battery it self
Why aren't you using the Triple Tech tablet? Pros and cons , 51Drones mentioned you make a adapter for the Triple Tech to use with DJI....RICK
Because I’m using a RC pro.
Dobo what app do you use for property line overlays on still and video, Thank you , Jeff

I use LandGlide app and I can walk to the property line and place a cone there or a GCP pad for references
