As you may have heard by now, DJI announced that the SDK should be available for the Mini 3 Pro around April but there are no plans for the Mavic 3 or Mavic 3 Cine. It would hurt the sales of the Mavic 3 E.
Yeah I don't understand mechanical shutters on CMOS sensors. I think it still scans instead of getting a snapshot like with CCD sensors. Maybe none of this matters anymore if you have a fast sensor.
The new Mavic 3E, combined with Drone Deploy, is a great mapping solution. And the mechanical shutter on Mavic 3E made a lot of people happy. Great video Billy, thanks for sharing.
Very impressive. I went to the Drone Deploy web site and whoa... it must be out of beta now. The pricing is not something I guess I can comment about, as I don't know what independent contractors can make with this software, nor it's value to individual companies. But it is unreal what can be done now. This would have been right up my alley 40 plus years ago. Thanks though, you help make my brain work.
I know. It's way too much for photometry. what I used was a program called 3DF Zephyr. The light version is only $150 one time and can do 500 images. The only thing is that you need to fly the drone manually.
If you can't afford the Mavic 3 Enterprise for mapping, go and pick up the Phantom 4 Pro. The P4P has a Mechanical Shutter, 20MP, good flight time (30 Mins), and reliability. Even at 6 approaching 7 years old, the P4P is still and amazing option for professional mapping. Just remember, you don't need to get the newest drone with all the crazy specs and features.
Yeap couldn't agree more.. still using P4P for drone mapping and very happy with the results..Just did a big building this morning.. Also no issues at all with drone deploy.
I just updated to the M3E with the RTK module and RTK base station. You are correct the P4Pro V2 is still an excellent drone for mapping however compare to the M3E it’s definitely showing it’s age. As an example I recently completed a laregish job with 1355 photos, the M3E did it with 2 batteries and took 25 minutes, the same job with the P4Pro would have taken 47 min & 6 batteries! I also love that I can use Drone Deploy on the M3E’s RC Pro controller. I still have the P4Pro as back up.
I have to believe/hope they release the SDK/API for the M3 and DD and others support it. I bought the ME3 like many others and it would be really bad if forced to buy a new drone so soon. If this was the case they should have explained their Mavic 3 Enterprise strategy early on. If the Air 2S is supported by apps like DD why not the ME3?

Billy! Looks really... I used Drone Deploy for a construction company using the Mavic 2 (Started with Mavic Pro). I thought those pictures looked good but the Mavic 3 is a step up. Would like to see you do another video on capturing 3d images and getting the detail under the over hangs. I never mastered it. I watched an old video of yours modeling a tire or muffler shop. I was amazed at the detail.

DJI Terra is great, it will create incredible models. It lacks in its ability to share the maps and models with others, which is non-existent in the current versions of the software.

Why did you used Drone Deploy as navigation system instead DJI Pilot? Or you only have used to plan your mission to fly and pos processing data? What would be the difference between the two?

We're looking at adding DroneDeploy to our offering but find the cost to be a negative factor, especially since it would not be the only platform we'd pay for. What are the chances that the camera is identical to the Mavic 3, and they just "activated" the global shutter for the Enterprise edition? I would assume there would be massive savings by not having to redesign the camera.
I just let you know I am starting a program for the fire department that I am associated with, and I will be doing the training of new pilots and stuff and one of the drones that we will eventually get is a Mavic 3 Enterprise I will be running the whole program and I’m pumped about the 3-D map system. I’m sure that I will have one of the pilots and I’m training that will be interested in that type of stuff as I am but like I say we have to wait until our budget is capable of getting that particular drone. Eventually, we will get another drone for, the department that will be there DJI 30 T but that’ll be a while

For instance, in the past, while flying the M2P with Pix4D Capture, the obstacle avoidance function was not supported, so whenever I miscalculated relative flight altitude, I ended up on the trees.

Why would you use DroneDeploy? The app crash is very indicative of what we’ve experienced early on with their apps. The RC Pro Enterprise has DJI Pilot 2 built-in, why not use that for flight control? Way more reliable, without the DD glitches.
2 questions: 1) Is there any good and free (or low price) mapping software for beginner to learn? I know that M3C is not mapping drone, but some guys have used even Mini 3 Pro for mapping. 2) This just game to mind: does DJI sell Mavic 3 camera separately to upgrade M3C to M3? Basically same drone, only difference is camera.

The shadows of the roof vents came out a little off in the 3d. I expected the underside but would have thought that would be cleaner given the overlaps
Billy I went on the “Reserve Now” list for the Mavic 3 Classic drone only weeks ago. Never have heard back from DJI. Actually did this twice. Had a “chat” with DJI and was given a link to distributors, non of them have the drone only. What’s up? I have all three controllers and do not need another one.

Yeah it does. I just did it lol. Well it works with the DJI pilot app. When I return it home and swap out the battery, i can resume the mission as soon as the drone powers back on.
I like your first test runs because they really are "first" runs and you run them "with" us. Not like other channels that test flight the sh!te out of the equipment and then try the "first" run. Like like like

I have a 3E coming in. I have experience mapping with Propeller Aero software & have used basic DD functions not mapping. I’ll be doing RTK mapping with this drone, can anyone let me know where DJI falls short of what propeller or DD can do for mapping? Specifically related to construction progress mapping.
Recieved my own M3E last week. I'm an engineer specialized in surveying, but i also make video and photo for real estate and commercials. So disappointed with my M3E. It only works for mapping, for taking photo or video is useless. No camera settings, no white balance, no video fps settings, no raw panorama. Nothing except mapping. I have an M300+P1+L1, a Mini3pro, and i've sold a M3CINE for this enterprise. I regret it.
Hey Billy, I want to get into this market. I have been practicing mapping flights with my P4P and DroneDeploy app, but using Maps Made Easy to process, as far as I know it is the only mapping software that allows me to pay as I go. The huge question is, how to interpret the DELIVERABLES. I can't make sense of the data provided by MME, so far I have no idea what the next step would be. What advice do you have for learning how to interpret and deliver the data?

@@mikewinn1 so dumb. Gives my Air 2s purpose for the random mapping mission I get every now and then, but I'd rather just use one drone for everything. So let's say I get A Mavic 3 E which I've considered, I lose 60 fps. 🤦♂️
Billy, you mentioned that it's important to have some sort of internet connection when mapping with this setup. I live in an area without cell service. If I'm more than a few hundred feet away from my wifi router, I won't have an internet connection. Most of my mapping will be nearby, with no internet connection. Will this be a serious problem using Drone Deploy and a Mavic 3 Enterprise, which I have on order?
Hello Phil. When you create a mission in DD and open the app on the phone/remote controller, just tick the option for offline map while you have internet connection. This will download the map and mission and then you won't need internet during actual flight. It will work fine I've done many times since I was flying missions in the middle of nowhere, but be sure you have offline mission prepared.
@@phillight2008 please let me know if any further concerns. This method worked fine in the deserts / steppes of Kazakhstan where you may spend days without even connection to call anyone.
@@MarekLysko Thanks, Marek. I was all set to pull the trigger on the Mavic 3E with the RTK module - until I learned that the video and photography capabilities of the enterprise drones are crippled. They don't include basic controls like white balance adjustment, no MasterShots or QuickShots, limited video framerate, exposure controls, and other capabilities. Humph! Apparently, DJI believes that people using Enterprise-level drones are "all business" and don't care about "nice" pictures or videos. But, although I'd like to be able to map with centimeter accuracy, image quality is more important. So I guess I'm going to order the regular Mavic 3 instead. Too bad we can't have both in one drone.
You dont need rtk module. We have dji mavic 3e rtk but not good results, ı checked it gcp and find difference. I try just rtk later than try ppk and later than gcp, so ı had good result just gcp. I think dont need rtk modüle
Man, I can’t for life of me get drone deploy to work on the RC Pro Enterprise Controller. I have the app download but I cannot download the “google services”. How did you get it to work?
Had to check out this video and the Mavic 3 Enterprises sence I had stopped watching your channel some time ago. Great drone, but I'm still really disappointed that you're leaving all the FAA regulations out of your videos. You're required to keep the drone in site, but not once you mentioned this. You didn't check for any other aircraft in the area or used Airmap, B4UFLY or any preflight. This is for the safety of other people in the air and on the ground.
Just wondering if you need a licence to fly a drone from your car coz here in Australia we need to follow VLOS 😭😭 Edit: also, does the controller come with a screen recording app? I'm obsessed with these drones but have barely any money lol
Turns out that the Mavic 3E does not support the D-RTK 2 in mode 3, so you can't establish ground control points, what a conn. Don't buy the Mavic 3E with the D-RTK 2 for mapping, waste of money.

Yes BUT, unless you buy an RID module, it will be illegal to use that p4p for commercial operations after September 16th

Dd sort’s everything out using the gps data and the image it’s self. Name doesn’t matter. You’ll waste a lot of time renaming every image

I’ll be doing RTK mapping with this drone, can anyone let me know where DJI falls short of what propeller or DD can do for mapping? Specifically related to construction progress mapping.

Recieved my own M3E last week. I'm an engineer specialized in surveying, but i also make video and photo for real estate and commercials. So disappointed with my M3E. It only works for mapping, for taking photo or video is useless. No camera settings, no white balance, no video fps settings, no raw panorama. Nothing except mapping. I have an M300+P1+L1, a Mini3pro, and i've sold a M3CINE for this enterprise. I regret it.
Question for you can the m3E work for real estate photography? How does the M3E compare to the mavic 3/classic? Thanks
Hey Billy, I want to get into this market. I have been practicing mapping flights with my P4P and DroneDeploy app, but using Maps Made Easy to process, as far as I know it is the only mapping software that allows me to pay as I go. The huge question is, how to interpret the DELIVERABLES. I can't make sense of the data provided by MME, so far I have no idea what the next step would be. What advice do you have for learning how to interpret and deliver the data?

Unfortunately No M-SDK for the regular Mavic 3 -- go ask DJI!!
@@mikewinn1 so dumb. Gives my Air 2s purpose for the random mapping mission I get every now and then, but I'd rather just use one drone for everything. So let's say I get A Mavic 3 E which I've considered, I lose 60 fps. 🤦♂️
Billy, you mentioned that it's important to have some sort of internet connection when mapping with this setup. I live in an area without cell service. If I'm more than a few hundred feet away from my wifi router, I won't have an internet connection. Most of my mapping will be nearby, with no internet connection. Will this be a serious problem using Drone Deploy and a Mavic 3 Enterprise, which I have on order?
Hello Phil.
When you create a mission in DD and open the app on the phone/remote controller, just tick the option for offline map while you have internet connection. This will download the map and mission and then you won't need internet during actual flight. It will work fine
I've done many times since I was flying missions in the middle of nowhere, but be sure you have offline mission prepared.

@@MarekLysko Thanks, Marek. I was all set to pull the trigger on the Mavic 3E with the RTK module - until I learned that the video and photography capabilities of the enterprise drones are crippled. They don't include basic controls like white balance adjustment, no MasterShots or QuickShots, limited video framerate, exposure controls, and other capabilities. Humph! Apparently, DJI believes that people using Enterprise-level drones are "all business" and don't care about "nice" pictures or videos. But, although I'd like to be able to map with centimeter accuracy, image quality is more important. So I guess I'm going to order the regular Mavic 3 instead. Too bad we can't have both in one drone.

You dont need rtk module. We have dji mavic 3e rtk but not good results, ı checked it gcp and find difference. I try just rtk later than try ppk and later than gcp, so ı had good result just gcp. I think dont need rtk modüle

Man, I can’t for life of me get drone deploy to work on the RC Pro Enterprise Controller. I have the app download but I cannot download the “google services”. How did you get it to work?
Beta access with the Amazon App Store side loaded. You need to contact DroneDeploy for access.

Had to check out this video and the Mavic 3 Enterprises sence I had stopped watching your channel some time ago. Great drone, but I'm still really disappointed that you're leaving all the FAA regulations out of your videos. You're required to keep the drone in site, but not once you mentioned this. You didn't check for any other aircraft in the area or used Airmap, B4UFLY or any preflight. This is for the safety of other people in the air and on the ground.
Just wondering if you need a licence to fly a drone from your car coz here in Australia we need to follow VLOS 😭😭

Turns out that the Mavic 3E does not support the D-RTK 2 in mode 3, so you can't establish ground control points, what a conn. Don't buy the Mavic 3E with the D-RTK 2 for mapping, waste of money.
