    Best DJI Enterprise review I've found, thanks for this. The explanation on price between the Mavic 3e and 2 was helpful too as I couldn't understand why I was seeing the 2 prices higher in some places.

    Great Video, I've never met anyone with as much knowledge on this topic. In comparison to the Mavic 2 advanced enterprise, is the improved zoom on the Mavic 3 enterprise and the RTK capability the only added benefits? Thanks!

    Couple things i'd like to see come to the next model of mavic and one for the M30.
    On the Mavic 3, I'd like to have seen water resistance instead of the 15% price reduction. Or at least a version rated for such weather conditions even if it costs a tad more than the mavic 2.
    On the Mavic 3 AND the M30, I would have liked to have seen a swappable camera payload. Especially at the price of the M30 & M30T. Payload modularity has been around for a while even on smaller drones. It actually kind of sucks that they'd release these pro-sumer to professional level drones without this feature. I know these cameras do a lot already, but sometimes you just need something more specialized for different occasions (for example, Autels 50x optical zoom). I just feel like the technology and production of this stuff should have trickled down into this level & price point of drone by now.

  • @wakefulonesees
    @wakefulonesees ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great comparison! I have two questions: first is about using a network for RTK on the m3 e, does it work and how hard is it to setup?
    Second, I see that you can purchase a m30 with no payload, can a mapping camera be mounted on it?
    Thanks again!

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. You can use NTRIP, but its network connection dependant and in many rural areas won't work. It can be hard to setup if you don't have any experience with this and is not a free service in 25 states. IN PA for example NTRIP service is $400 per month, some states its free under the Department of Transportation. The M30 comes with a fixed camera that is not removable. IN the video when I refer to payloads I am referring to things like Loudspeakers/spotlights/drop systems, CSM radar etc.

    16:30 that's why we're leaning towards procuring M3E for our pipe network projects.
    16:58 Is this out-of-the-box of M3E? If I recall correctly from your other video I commented on, it needs to have the RTK attachment + D-RTK 2 base station to achieve that? Or maybe I'm recalling it incorrectly.

    Great video, I have used the P4rtk ,m300rtk+P1, I think the Mavic 3e is really not as good as the P1 but a lot better than the P4rtk for orthophoto and 3d surveying work, but if I spend the money, I will buy two Mavic3e, because it is cheaper, quick to deploy and low cost

  • @reconaerialdroneservices

    Steel city thanks for your amazing content, great job! I wanted to point out, and I could be way out to lunch here BUT....why does the M3E series not support the DJI Fly App? For many operators having an M3E that also has the imaging capability of the features found in the M3 (DJI Fly App) would be amazing. As it stands DJI seems to be forcing us to purchase 2 drones instead of one since they do not permit the DJI Fly App to be loaded on the M3E. I've contacted them on this and they have no good answer really so I suspect that it's pretty much greed at play here. Your thoughts?

    • @B1g_Salad
      @B1g_Salad ปีที่แล้ว

      Easy, one is consumer and the other is enterprise. You’d be better off spending less on the M3 if photo and video is what you are after. The camera on that is better for it anyway because you get the Hasselblad coloring.

  • @gcookz86
    @gcookz86 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for this comparison! I was under the impression that the M3 E was capable of tapping into RTK without a ground station... is that not correct? Only planning to use it for photogrammetry and mapping.

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes that is correct. You can use NTRIP as well but you are at the mercy of an internet connection to the controller. Some states have free NTRIP service some do not.

  • @SlackerOH
    @SlackerOH ปีที่แล้ว

    Very informative, but at 03:23 regarding the accuracy...You cannot report accuracy using the GCPs only from Pix4D. You must have independent checkpoints that also account for the methodology they were surveyed. i.e. differential leveling vs static vs RTK. The D-RTK2 base station is also not a survey grade receiver and that should be kept in mind when using it in RTK/PPK/GCP-surveying workflows.

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Ethan - We talk about Checkshots in the video. I also have to disagree about the DKRT2 base station being survey grade. It's absolutely survey grade but its only going to be accurate as to what you set it up to whether its a total station or a Trimble handheld.

  • @costica1234
    @costica1234 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the Mavic 3E generate raw GNSS files when flying in manual mode? The Phantom 4 RTK cannot do this (as per the user manual), thus rendering impossible the ability to perform PPK.

  • @spartanaerialservices
    @spartanaerialservices ปีที่แล้ว

    Honestly, the M3E, in talking with DJI, was truly meant to be a lower cost entry drone for 2D/3D mapping, not inspection work.

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We receive a lot of calls from customers wanting to use this aircraft for inspection work when they see that the aircraft has a zoom camera. Thus we wanted to provide detailed footage to show what it is capable of doing and not capable of doing. There are a lot of people wanting to use this drone for roof inspections and damage assessments and this drone fits that perfectly.

  • @VictoriaAerial
    @VictoriaAerial ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The smaller sensors on Mavic 3 will not get good data on survey. The resolution will just not be there. Even the 45 MP zP1 full frame camera struggles at times. Saying a small sensor camera can do a survey is dishonest advertising. Throw in some clouds and shadows and watch your images blur. Try to take off near an geo fenced fly safe zone and your motors will not even start until you submit data to DJI and get Chinas authorization to do so. I can’t stand DJI and will switch as soon as possible to an American or European drone. I will not go cheap and will pay more…

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Based on what data?

    • @VictoriaAerial
      @VictoriaAerial ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SteelCityDrones my own observations. If you don’t have good resolution you don’t have good data. Just zoom in on the photos and watch them pixelate. I wish the USA could compete with China and DJI when it comes to drones. DJI is geared to profits and sales, the ZP1 is barely a pass. I personally cannot stand dealing with DJI and their Fly safe program which acts like a nanny service telling me where I can and cannot fly. I have over 3000 hours of UAV flight time and am a manned pilot. We need to manufacture our own drones and compete with the bully. I know people who use the mini for mapping… drones are everywhere and anyone can fly them. Drone images are cheap and worthless now as result. More should have been done to stop the proliferation. Few police departments even use them. Buying them is the easiest part, using them for specific applications and legally is the hard part.

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VictoriaAerial M3E is better than Phantom 4 RTK which has been the industry standard. Yea it’s not a P1 camera sensor and can’t achieve any GSD at any flight height but it works well under 200 feet.

    • @VictoriaAerial
      @VictoriaAerial ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SteelCityDrones where I come from, 200 ft could get you flying into Douglas Fir trees and other obstacles. Low flying is dangerous flying and also take much longer. It took me an hour in the m300 to scan a golf course at 380 ft at 30 MPH and 70% OL Imagine a P4 at 200? You would be there all day, and still might not get good data. I have had engineers throw out work on the P4 and the P4 RTK. The pictures looked good, but there were too many “distortions” in auto cad. Lucky I even got paid, but he never called me again! Bad sensors, bad data period! Don’t embarrass yourself with bad data on these cheap drones. It is a bad reputation in the industry. When drone companies present bad data to engineers, they dismiss drone data altogether as useless and ineffective, and will likely not give it another chance for years to come. Present the gold standard, or do not present at all I say. Don’t give a false pretence that you can provide accurate, reliable mapping data with a cheap drone when you cannot. It hurts us all and is really deceptive experimentation when it is unproven…

    • @VictoriaAerial
      @VictoriaAerial ปีที่แล้ว

      Just use common sense. The ZP1 camera alone weighs close to the entire Mavic 3! Do you really think that small of a camera is going to give you great survey results? Maybe in ideal lighting and no shadows, but in the real world? No they just want to sell you another drone and let you learn the hard way.
