Just pick on thing you want to practice when encountering an enemy. Like run for cover. Then do that untill you are comfortable. And then add a thing. Like walk around the cover to get a different position. And then keep adding one extra action as soon as you're comfortable with the combo you've just practised. After one evening, you will see results! Good luck ;)
Watching this because im not really an fps player since I play mostly 3rd person, but Apex Legends is so interesting and Im such a noob in fps gaming.. lol
BBKDRAGOON Nah, I'm talking about shooting some one a little bit until they're near death, and the panicking and reloading and then they kill you. It's my favourite thing in shooters. Brings me so much satisfaction.
@BBKDRAGOON I generally reload immediately after I get a kill, is that a good practice? The way I see it, if I reload immediately after getting a kill, I'll have less of a chance of running out of ammo in the next gun fight.
Congrats on champ in H5 dude, that's awesome! And yeah those tense situations make it tough to keep your hands relaxed and maintain smooth movements on the control stick
I used to be really good at FPS, but I started drifting away from FPS and onto other game types, so I’ve been losing skill. This video really helped me remember how to play, thanks!!
Rusty Boi I hear you, I've been playing Monster Hunter World and I'm good at that and since I usually play FPS at my friend's house cause he's got all the FPS games and I don't and we've been busy with life and work and whatnot and now I got this new gaming PC which I built my first computer and got a couple of FPS games, I suck so bad compare to console for some reason.
@@supercoolmunkee ik I'm late, but it's not that you're rusty, it's just that, even though it doesn't seem like it, playing on console and pc is just a completely, completely different way of playing… of course you would suck compared to console if you played console first
When it comes to Destiny, running straight at your opponent with a shotgun has sadly become one of the most common strategies to see, though hopefully that'll change with the upcoming patch.
BBKDRAGOON I'd especially like to see the lowest RoF highest impact hand cannons be a guaranteed two shot if you hit two headshots. Otherwise there's no incentive to use them at all, unless you need the light levels.
This was very helpful. I think a big chunk of getting better at an FPS is the psychology behind it, and this video hits on that more than most. Appreciate it.
Apex legends is the first FPS game i played in years and #1 is my biggest issue lol. I watch skilled players and try to do what they do and sometimes it works but usually when im in harsh situations i freeze up lol. I'll just stick to improving while going at my own pace, great video!
As someone who has been playing quite a lot of fps for 6-7 years, this guide is spot on for beginners ! Just some little details I'd like to point out : - Don't worry about the sprint for faster ADS (aim down sight), if you are playing your first fps/tps it'll probably hurt you more than help you. - Don't worry about headlining (when you place your crosshair at head or neck level), instead just focus about lifting your crosshair off the ground. You gotta be ready when the enemy comes :) ps: Ô lord aim who gets so much attention... Most of the time how well you track and flick is not the biggest factor in a battle wherever your a beginner, an intermediate or advanced fps player. If you never hit your enemy, your crosshair was probably not on them to start off with, which means you weren't ready. I'm not saying you never died because your aim was worse than your enemy, it can be the case some times but probably not as often as you might believe.
This first tip I would modify slightly. Instead of don't panic, stay calm. I used to play Fortnite and get really anxious, but Apex Legends has really helped. I was in a house at one point where my teammate was downed and two other enemies were in the room with me. I was able to calmly and quickly kill them off and revive my team member thanks to staying calm.
Great. I do all of these... I can see myself in everything you're telling us not to do. I hope to be able to break these bad habbits, but despite years of playing, I still have them!
This are finally some new tips that I haven't actually heard before! I was desperately looking for something really useful and here this video is! Thank you so much for making it. Never played FPS games before, but kind of getting into them now and your tips have made a big change not only to the way I practice but also to my mindset. Thanks again!
I rarely played any fps besides the ocasinal halo(and no online play) and this was the first video i clicked on for how to get better at fps cuz i'm utter trash 🤣 Apex Legends is the first one I've played in awhile that i've actually enjoyed quite a bit :P
the second i enter an online match my heart just starts beating so hard. i literally can't calm down lmao. i also happen to be one of those ppl who's adrenaline just makes concentrating harder
Aiming at the floor - I was guilty of that. I've played quake for years. Most of the time you run with rocket launcher, so you get used to aiming for opponent`s legs.
oh my holy lord yes... nostalgia kicking in good old Unreal and Quake days :) MoMoMoMonsterkill please give this man a Medal... Thank you sso much for that :)
One very usefull simple tip that almost no one ever brings up especially for Destiny is to turn of the controller vibration for PvP it distracts a lot, takes away attention from the actual encounter and makes effects of things like high caliber rounds worse than they actually are. A few days ago a destiny TH-camr mentioned this in on of his videos I never thought about this before I never considered that controller vibration could have an effect on your performance in pvp but it actually works since than I turned of my vibration and especially Clever Dragons with high caliber rounds seems so much less of a problem to me now it is almost like night and day!
Its an amazing tip, I try to talk about it in any video discussing controller setup or aim/accuracy tips. I turned my vibration off in Halo Reach and it absolutely revolutionized the way I play, the stress mechanic of the vibrating controller can be such massive distraction and makes it hard to aim with the controller shaking.
1. Are their FPS shooter games with obstacle courses, pop up targets, training grounds, etc on consoles? It would be nice to measure your progress. 2. So on drills/training exercises: a. practice speeding up the process of putting the cross hair on a given target. Targets should vary in distance? b. practice locking up on a target while strafing without losing the target (always in cross hairs). c. practice using the right analog stick to fine tune your aim. d. practice strafing, locking unto target, and fine tuning your aim when needed all at once. 3. Crank up mouse sensitivity to the maximum without losing shooting accuracy (ie a sweet spot)? 4. Get an analog extender. 5. Always have FPS of 30 or above, some TVs/monitors are better than others? 6. Am I missing anything?
I just started playing singleplayer fps games, and my problem is kind of the opposite of tip #1. Since I just started, I'm not very good at aiming yet, and when I get into engagements I have a habit of standing still because I'm concentrating too hard shooting. I'm slowly improving but I still feel like it's holding me back. Suggestions?
Watching this after recently getting back into multiplayer fps games (Apex) after basically skipping more than a decade of evolution in gameplay (not the only one from the looks of other comments). Makes me realise how old school habits can actually hurt play rather than helping. Hurtling round corners was fine in the days when iron sight aiming wasn't a thing and in some cases was advisable to give someone less time to get the drop on you, just as one example. The thing that's holding me back is reloading. Specifically, if you're in a close-ish fight and your weapon runs out before your opponent goes down. I really haven't got a grip on what to do in that situation. Is there a general rule of thumb? Anyway, this was by far the most useful video I've seen for helping me rethink what I'm doing. Have a sub.
I'm not a smart player in Destiny PVP... and experienced exactly the situationa you talk about... Thanks for your tips... I'll try to use and hope to improve...
Thanks for the tips. I do catch myself sprinting around the map way too much. That plays way more into games that offer little or no radar. I have been playing mostly Destiny and when I play games like CoD or Plants VS Zombies GW with my son, I realize how much paying attention to your surroundings and map knowledge plays into gameplay speed. If you don't know every nook, cranny and sniper nest, don't sprint. Very helpful tip. If you're not on the positive side of K.D., you're not helping your team.
before watching this video, i used to get around a 1-1.5 kdr per round, using these tips, my kdr has doubled, even tripled in most of the rounds i play. thanks dude
The "revenge" problem is something I always had a problem with, I kept trying to out snipe someone who was much better than me on one side of the map, that I didn't realise that I could've just went the other way to cap the other points. 😂
1. Stop sprinting too much 2. Don't rush back to the place where you die. 3. Don't move straight during an engagement 4. Movement should be unpredictable during engagement 5. Keep your gun held at head and neck level always
Great video man!! I'm happy to say I'm doing a lot LESS of these bad habits since I started watching your videos :) always room to improve tho! Keep up the great work!
I used to get like no kills everytime in a single round. I wanted to give up but after sometime i was shocked at my improvement that i could now kill like 2-5 people before dying. I usually use my pistol in close combat fighting since thats the only gun im currently good at and using a sniper when i feel like i wanna camp
the only game where revenge killing could even work (could, not saying it will as it probably wont) is battlefield because if you have some explosives and the right class for the situation you can easily blow up the enemies corner and leave them exposed for you to take them out a bit easier. still would not suggest, but if you have a squad mate nearby them it can work sometimes
At what point is the game, and at what point is it me? I follow these to the tee, and I have the same results as if I was sprinting around the map. I don't know if there's something I'm missing, but man, I swear it feels like these tips don't work. I still go negative and die a lot, and it's not like I'm running out in the open. I stay behind cover and do my best to pick my fights. Somehow there's no improvement. I'm either worse, or I stay the same. I don't know if I'm missing something. I've watched both this video and the advanced video multiple times.
Ik that im a little bit l8, but this will be worthy th-cam.com/video/XdBeuaohtuw/w-d-xo.html See kovaak's aim trainer program it's very good practice and If u play csgo there are tons of workshop maps for that.
The looking down issue is a bad habit that stems from a reflex. When people don't know where they are or aren't used to their surroundings, the reflex is to look down. You can see it all the time in, for example, new drivers. People learning track racing are also a good example. Very easy to spot. In FPS games, you start by looking down as you run around new maps, unaware of yourself doing it. A bad habit forms and, well, there you go.
I have the new-player symptoms you mention, yet I've been playing FPS for ages. I think in my case I have some sort of inferiority trauma when facing humans in the multiplayer, as I'm actually pretty good offline... What would you advise me to get better? Anyway, great video and you just got yourself a sub.
I used to have that problem too where everytime i know im getting into engagement with other real people i go full panic mode. They only way to get through that is getting into more fights actually hahaha. I know it sounds ridiculous but it help and work for me. I still get panicky sometimes but i can actually think and aim better than when i used to go full panic mode just flailing my bullets
For me, these tips can all be summed up as "you should probably give up playing FPS and concentrate on playing a game genre you're competent at." Unfortunately, there are no game genres I'm competent at.
My biggest problem is that I always aim at the ground and not their neck and head level but I’m now working on it and I guess I’m now decent at it but when I panic (which I have to work on it) I do the same.
My problem is overshooting. As a PC player to Xbox I keep trying to flick to people as soon as I see them. That makes me push the stick all the way through where it goes from precision aiming to reflex aiming. More of that zone is used for movement and never aiming xD So yeah I need to take my time is all.
I've never really got into FPS. Didn't play them, not very good at them But I'm interested in Star Wars: Battlefront 2, so been playing the first one (on PS4). So frustrating to be shot in the back. I have killed someone shooting their feet. I can see the tips as a help to me. A lot of my shots seem wild while they are so accurate. Which was reflected in my summation screen. 1 kill, 20 deaths. So thanks for the video and I look forward to being better with this. I will also watch your advanced tips.
I want to get better at games like CS:GO, so here I am. I want to know these kinds of tips so that I can put them to practice and figure out how to get better at the game. I definitely panic a lot and run directly at the enemy, those are the biggest issues I have.
Sprinting into aiming The Last Word in destiny essentially gives you QuickDraw cause you negate the flip animation. This is an exemption to rule number 2
BBK, absolutely loved this video. You made it just for me. 😬 I'm conscious of, but guilty of some of the bad habits mentioned. My wife was listening and laughing at the looking at the feet habit. She shoots my spartan in the potty all the time because she needs to look up at neck and head level (hope that's unintentional). Looking forward to the advanced tips videos. Have a blessed evening, Sir.
i have a problem with an fps game that i just started. see i have 1400+ hours playing team fortress 2,then i decided to try out some other free to play fps,so i instaled to my computer black squad, warframe and warface(i uninstaled warface a little later because i had a ton of lag). the problem with these games is that they have a lot's of weapons that do not appear in tf2 and i have no idea what is the right way to use them. i want you to give me information about: -assault rifles -designated marksman rifles -heavy rifles -light machine guns -machine pistoles what exactly are these and how am i suppossed to use them? i already know what's a sniper riffle a submachine gun and a shotgun,i have no idea about the other ones.
Good video. Though this sounds like basic stuff, even experienced players might want to review when jumping games. I was very comfortable in Call of Duty, and hit all the markers (eventually) for good habits and technique. Then I switched to Destiny PvP, and the lack of familiarity with maps and playstyles has made me seriously regress.
I turn towards a target, weapon already up but I swing past it, then again the other direction. I use a gamepad with my PC (can't use mouse due to tremors), is there an adjustment or trick I can use?
i just brought a new nvidia graphics card, first time in my life i got a amazing gpu, never got a good one in real life before, i had a intel hd 2000 32 bit usage, intergrated card and now i got a new graphics card and i start playing fps games and i suck at those, recoil is also kinda hard on some games to control, and yes i panic alot and reload whenever i killed someone... :( man a long way i got to keep up toward nowdays players cuz i got a very bad local internet 3mbps shared which is 1,2 mbps in normal days and only 1 mbps in holidays.... 400 - 500 ping is usual for me....
I remember when i first started playing destiny pvp it took me a while to learn all the lil mechanics since dark souls was my bread and butter for years. i remember just doing only rumble neglecting all other game modes i think i did almost 30 matches a day for 3- 4 months (summer break) I got my ass beat every match but in the end it was worth it. the hardest thing for me to learn was to aim properly so i only used auto rifles which was the easiest at the time for me then i moved on to scouts then finally hand cannons, then after a few more months after i said i'll never learn to snipe i learned how to snipe which took another 3 months of practice until i eventually got the basics of it all. Now present day im a significantly stronger player i dont always win but i never expect to im just looking for stronger apponents to" test my light" against and also playing with friends when i have the time. i sont care about bounties or loot or meta weapons their not important to me i just wana fight strong opponents and learn different tactics.
Willy Hanz i use to watch my friends play when i was a kid id love to play but i doubt ill ever buy an xbox but when i get a real job one day i might consider it
the fuck are you talking about, you can clearly see his skill in the video and most fps games have melee, reloads and sprint… while 99.999% have reloads and melee or reloads and sprint as a pair. the fuck do you play
I am COMPLETELY new to fps games. My first one is Star Wars: Battlefront. I have been playing for exactly a week and I have a K\D of 0.61. Any advice to how I can improve?
Fuzz check mini map every few seconds, don't hold the same position/place over and over again, everytime you get a kill try to change your position because chances are they probably saw you in thr mini map, play around corners and dont run around in thr open.

this actually sounded helpfull. thanks
the only game where revenge killing could even work (could, not saying it will as it probably wont) is battlefield because if you have some explosives and the right class for the situation you can easily blow up the enemies corner and leave them exposed for you to take them out a bit easier. still would not suggest, but if you have a squad mate nearby them it can work sometimes
My problem is not tracking my enemies up close. Any tips on that?
Ik that im a little bit l8, but this will be worthy

See kovaak's aim trainer program it's very good practice and If u play csgo there are tons of workshop maps for that.
Well said and great examples!
For me, these tips can all be summed up as "you should probably give up playing FPS and concentrate on playing a game genre you're competent at."
Unfortunately, there are no game genres I'm competent at.
3 tip was directly to me. When I do that all the time get frustrated and I lose 1v1😅
When I don’t do that I can be the best player of the match😅
My biggest problem is that I always aim at the ground and not their neck and head level but I’m now working on it and I guess I’m now decent at it but when I panic (which I have to work on it) I do the same.
My problem is overshooting. As a PC player to Xbox I keep trying to flick to people as soon as I see them. That makes me push the stick all the way through where it goes from precision aiming to reflex aiming. More of that zone is used for movement and never aiming xD
So yeah I need to take my time is all.
Not sure if you have PS4. Rocket League. Orcs Must Die is a defending game. Set traps and see orcs break apart. I still play a lot of Skyrim SE.
Saiman No i feel bad for you now
I want to get better at games like CS:GO, so here I am. I want to know these kinds of tips so that I can put them to practice and figure out how to get better at the game. I definitely panic a lot and run directly at the enemy, those are the biggest issues I have.
I still play StarWars Battlefront 2 for the PC and PS2. The online multiplayer is active on PC.
Julian Contreras true, everyone assumes it’s dead because of its horrible launch but right now it’s better then ever with the new clone wars content
Sprinting into aiming The Last Word in destiny essentially gives you QuickDraw cause you negate the flip animation. This is an exemption to rule number 2
I love these types of videos
BBK, absolutely loved this video. You made it just for me. 😬 I'm conscious of, but guilty of some of the bad habits mentioned. My wife was listening and laughing at the looking at the feet habit. She shoots my spartan in the potty all the time because she needs to look up at neck and head level (hope that's unintentional). Looking forward to the advanced tips videos. Have a blessed evening, Sir.
Thanks for the kind comment, glad some of the tips were applicable, have a great night as well, cheers!
every time I hit "play apex" Im in distress. I guess Im pushing and comparing myself too much. thx for the tips
This really helps!! thx!!!
Great tips!
i have a problem with an fps game that i just started.
see i have 1400+ hours playing team fortress 2,then i decided to try out some other free to play fps,so i instaled to my computer black squad, warframe and warface(i uninstaled warface a little later because i had a ton of lag).
the problem with these games is that they have a lot's of weapons that do not appear in tf2 and i have no idea what is the right way to use them.
i want you to give me information about:
-assault rifles
-designated marksman rifles
-heavy rifles
-light machine guns
-machine pistoles
what exactly are these and how am i suppossed to use them?
i already know what's a sniper riffle a submachine gun and a shotgun,i have no idea about the other ones.
this was very relatable.
Hello, which game is best to play to start learning these stuff?
Thanks for the tips
Thanks! The advanced video will talk about more specific game related things like maps, pacing, mechanics unique to each game
Very good tips
This isn't for any FPS, mostly only console shooters. None of these tips work for Quake, for example, except for maybe the melee one.
You know your stuff. Nice video.
I turn towards a target, weapon already up but I swing past it, then again the other direction.
I use a gamepad with my PC (can't use mouse due to tremors), is there an adjustment or trick I can use?
cant get use to the ps4 controller . i am use to a keyboard and mouse. how do you get use to the controller?
Does listening to footsteps also help?
i just brought a new nvidia graphics card, first time in my life i got a amazing gpu, never got a good one in real life before, i had a intel hd 2000 32 bit usage, intergrated card and now i got a new graphics card and i start playing fps games and i suck at those, recoil is also kinda hard on some games to control, and yes i panic alot and reload whenever i killed someone... :( man a long way i got to keep up toward nowdays players cuz i got a very bad local internet 3mbps shared which is 1,2 mbps in normal days and only 1 mbps in holidays.... 400 - 500 ping is usual for me....
did steel series get the video with your knowledge or...
Willy Hanz i use to watch my friends play when i was a kid id love to play but i doubt ill ever buy an xbox but when i get a real job one day i might consider it
Willy Hanz ill consider it
How much fucking time do you have
quality videos my man
Assumes FPS has melee, reloads and sprint.
You must be new around these parts.
STEFiRoTH what?
the fuck are you talking about, you can clearly see his skill in the video and most fps games have melee, reloads and sprint… while 99.999% have reloads and melee or reloads and sprint as a pair. the fuck do you play
@@無名のバカ Probably Minecraft. LoL
I am COMPLETELY new to fps games. My first one is Star Wars: Battlefront. I have been playing for exactly a week and I have a K\D of 0.61. Any advice to how I can improve?
Practice/experience ( tips: pre aim, and try to pre fire sometimes)
Thanks for answering!
Fuzz check mini map every few seconds, don't hold the same position/place over and over again, everytime you get a kill try to change your position because chances are they probably saw you in thr mini map, play around corners and dont run around in thr open.
i am a really good fps player, in cod i have Damascus on every gun, and i even forgot a few of these tips and tricks to be better
I'd consider myself an Advanced player . My biggest problem is getting spawned exactly where I last died how do i handle this?
thank you!!
sir i hope u dont mind my stupidity but does this effect laptop players?
