LeBron's autographs, cards and memorabilia are about to explode. He will become the NBA All-time scoring leader midway through next season. I cannot believe Geoff failed to take this into account before making this horrific trade. As someone who has worked directly with LeBron since 2006, I am looking forward to the scoring record explosion!
Glad that you balanced out the risk with the KD and Steph. The upside with Zion is not as to how he plays when he is healthy (if ever)...it is where he plays. If he gets moved to a bigger market and can stay somewhat healthy, his cards will take off again.
The Bron is one of the key cards of a generation. It’ll continue to rise in the long term even when his career is over. He’s going to stay relevant why else did he want to go to Hollywood
Merry Christmas Jets! Enjoyed watching. See you're next to Kevin again and Steve dropped by again! As always - cool attitude while dealing. Thanx for sharing - it's as if I were there!
I'd probably have tried to make a deal for the Lamelo Kaboom for Zion, if he's really who you were interested in. Definitely made the better choice of the 2 trade options for Lebron though.
Got bit on the zion news same time you did. Bought a psa 10 base prizm for 270 at a show in New Jersey. On the way home I got the alert of the setback. Next day they drop to under 200. That's the game.
How do Zion rookies get back or Exceed their previous highs? Multiple chips, HOF career, MVPs? No. He simply needs to get back to where he was and/or go to a big market team that will spend to put pieces around him. This latest setback will only drive prices down more ( Panic sellers) . Jeff knows this, his deal will pay off HUGE.
People are trying too hard to find the next Jordan...in 10 years 99.9% of these cards will lose value and the market will favor the next batch of over hyped players.
My assumption would be that even if Zion came back the Pelicans would have an unsuccessful season, thus his hype would die out pretty fast, leading to a buy opp. before next season. If I was making this trade, I'd be going for both Durant refractor, Curry, and 1 Zion. I'm sure you have other cards aside from the LBJ to trade as well, because Zion's equity is pretty loose and you could be filling the coffers with Ovi/Crosby/McDavid Young Guns :)
Mcdavid YG’s are crazy printed. They actually lowered 14-15 print runs in preparation for 15-16 because they knew how hyped mcdavid was. Mcdavid future watch, while much more expensive, would be the better investment imo.
Although, I wouldn’t have done the trade, I appreciate the insight. It was a smart trade, either way. I feel like your mindset when constructing these business trades is that of a stock broker. Your cards, although not as solid as LBJ, have a potential of higher upside. Good luck.
Crazy video. Think you should always hold LeBron. That guy Mitch is delusional about Zion. Comparing him to LeBron shows how little he know about Bball or cards.
He gets Influencer bulk discount and these people tends to get more PSA 10s maybe for open box TH-cam. But yes I agree with u, generally u get PSA 9 Crossover. Particularly with the acquired of PSA company by Hedgefund Manager Steven Cohen Himself. He is one of the most corrupts human being in history. I'm sure he bends rules. Hew PSA were already bending rules before Steven. FBI used to investigate them for futting corner turning psa 2 to psa 5 vintage cards moving price by 6 figures.
Cracking 9.5 cards to try for a 10… man your a beast bro , love it … You’re definitely not afraid to take a chance ..hope it pays off for u , and I also believe in Zion .. That talent don’t just go away , Jordan was out early in his career too…
I probably wouldn’t have done That lebron refractor trade but I’m very low on Zion. I probably would have found more established players with a potential to win a ship.
With Lebron a couple of years out from breaking the scoring record, and zion a couple of years away from being on a good team this is a tough one to agree with but we will see how it all plays out.
That would have been a tough trade to make. No doubt Zion could become great but he could also be the next Shawn Kemp. I don't think I could have made that trade.
In the end the only difference between Zion and Kemp will be about 14 kids lol....Anyone spending big money on Zion at this point I just don’t understand.. The upside on him is lessening every few months...Imo he’s not the “Next” chosen one.🤷♂️
I think not a bad deal. You're an investor. Investors take chances. The 1 for 1 I don't think I would have done but picking up 2 nice Zion's PLUS 2 GOATS IN Curry and KD was a good move. Guys like you don't have museums where your collection just sits to be looked at. You're wheeling and dealing. I'm sure you're already thinking ahead for when Zion comes back and strings a couple of good game together. Those Zion's are gone! Who knows, maybe those 2 Zion's alone will bring a Lebron refractor back into the card portfolio to join the KD and Curry cards!
Nuts. Common sense prevails. Trading a GOAT LeBron for a Zion means you think he can surpass or approach LeBrons career. Would you invest in Microsoft or go with a startup software company? I get it for a quick flip hype perspective, but the fact ppl pay high enough prices to even allow a quick flip is puzzling.
At least you put your money where your mouth it and show the whole transparent process- no risk no reward- love the KD Topps refractor that card is undervalued
That guy with the Zions couldn’t wait to unload two duds on Geoff and the Durant was nice but the Curry paper was pretty much a throw in as that guy can buy another one in no time.
You still can make 2x or 3x the profit in low end cards. The mid and high tier cards are done for now. Since the sports cards market is in downward trend, I am hoping the grading fees, hobby boxes and Ebay fees are going down as well. Of course, next year we have to report taxes of $600 sales or more. That is a bummer.
I wouldn't trade sure value like LeBron holds for Zion, but that's just me. That said, I do think you are 100% correct that now is a good time to invest in Zion. When healthy he is legitimately generational. We've never seen some of the things he did last season before. People who think he's all hype are extremely mistaken.
Lebron is solidified as one of the best ever, same with Curry & Durant. The one risk is Zion which I don’t know if he’ll perform at his highest this year. That wasn’t a bad trade at all. Both Curry & Durant will make the playoffs this year if they stay consistent thru the year.
The way you make your bed is the way you're laying in it. I wouldn't have done the trade LeBron is on his way out the door future hall-of-famer and possibly an NBA title before he's done. Zion on the other hand is injury-prone
I do understand a lot of the card hobby doesn’t translate to how well a players career is or what accolades they hold but the investment and theory that Zion is a great or will leave a mark on the game makes no sense. There are 20+ active players in the league id invest in before Zion. 20k - 40K cards in value for Zion makes zero sense.
my tiny 2cents... Zion is way too big a risk and all those comps were hyper inflated by the COVID boom, the Curry not sure what kind of upside is left, and Durant is not (despite being a fantastic player) particularly well liked. As well, a huge missing piece of the calculation is what you had into the Lebron to start with. Nevertheless it was definitely an interesting video to get the thought process of both parties and I do appreciate getting an opportunity to watch it.
My vote is … your nuts. You gave up someone that is arguably the goat and an all time scoring leader for someone that will be lucky if you can squeeze 50 games a season out of. His body just can’t handle the amount of torque it produces. His latest injury was a non contact injury which says a lot to me. Don’t get me wrong he’s a great player when he’s healthy, unfortunately he just can’t stay healthy. On a positive note, atleast you didn’t put all your eggs in one basket and go for the pristine 10 lol. Anyways,I love these videos. Thanks for posting.
Geoff you are nuts bro!! Lol that Lebron, rare rc refractor for an overweight, injury prone, Overrated hobby darling Zion? You have some cojones! I’m not a fan of dumping tons of money in unprovens, especially vs one of the greatest players of all time. But you are clearly more successful than me, so what do I know. Happy holidays everyone

I myself would never have made that trade. Lebron has already proved himself if he never got on the court again. I am like most people I think Zion is to likely to have a shorter career and definitely going to be subject to more injuries because of his weight. ( JUST MY OPINION. ) 😊😊😊
I’m glad that Mitch guy went and spoke to someone. He would have been kicking himself had he passed on the LBJ refractor card for Zion. I’m not a LeBron fan, but I’m certainly not a going to hate and act like he isn’t one of the goats of the game. Zion hopefully has a lot of basketball ahead of him, but for his cards to reach LeBron status, long term, that’s a lot of MVPs, championships, and records to match. Anything is possible, just a big risk to take on Zion right now. Only reason his prices haven’t completely ranked is because he’s still young.
Trade makes sense if you already have a Lebron rookie refractor. Seems pretty even. Think you’ll be fine with Zion in the long run. He will have ups and downs like most players.
I like the idea of cracking for PSA 10s been targetting 8 and 8.5 topps kobe rookies to submit for 9s. Reports Zion has lost some weight and his prices should recover once he returns. Also if he goes to a bigger market and on a good team should boost his value. Just hurts knowing how much his price is going to drop from now to when he does return. What do you think of this years class Mobley looks great but big men tend to not do well compared to high-scoring guards/ wings like Cunningham, Green and Barnes. Also do you plan to try and buy low on any Trout during the lockout?
Actually not a bad trade, at least you have a Curry and Durant rc as fallback instead of gambling on the Pristine 10 Zion which could have rue the day imo.
I definitely wouldn't have done that trade because your LBJ was a Beckett 9.5 Refractor & those are hard to come by. By the time LBJ retires and get inducted into the HOF? That card will skyrocket.

Easy solution to fix that if you think it affects the sale. Tell the buyer to shut it off, or walk away.
