Hey guys! I wanted to make a video on my approach to sports card flipping. I show you some examples of how I would flip sports cards and why. I also talk about the fees that you must take into consideration when you do flip cards. Let me know what approach you take. Do you prefer to FLIP or do you INVEST? Thanks for watching!
Hey PSA COLLECTOR, you made a video a while back about the most collectible Michael Jordan cards and I noticed that I have one of the cards you had on that list. It’s the 1996 Fleer Anticipation insert that I pulled myself as a kid. I’ve been trying to sell it for a while but I’ve never sold anything on EBay or anything like that so I was wondering if you’d be interested in it. It’s ungraded but in absolutely flawless condition. It’s been in a sleeve and a case with screws since the day I pulled it in 1996. If you have a way I can PM you and send you pictures then I’d love to do business with you. Thanks!
I really liked your video. I used to be a power seller on e-Bay about 19 years ago. I flipped just about everything back then: cards, other sports collectibles, CDs, DVDs, cosmetics, handbags, and anything else that I knew I could move quickly. The biggest difference back then was that the fees were much lower and shipping costs were too. There was also less competition amongst sellers. I made some nice supplemental income and it was fun. But even then, when you factor in the time that you had to put in, it wasn't really worth it. You also have to deal with occasional deadbeats and scumbags. Flipping cards or other items is a nice hobby, but it's not something to do to seriously try to make money, in my opinion. The major people profiting from this is e-Bay and shipping companies.
I think you have to do Both or you will end up losing in most cases 70 or 80% of cards usually tank especially if you’re in to collecting rookies. In my opinion it’s not really investing when you’re putting capital to players that are in the first few years you cannot predict injuries and longevity many things. If you want to think of yourself as being an investor you need to obtain Graded cards of most likely guaranteed Hall of fame Caliber or vintage Hall of Fame players.
I will say this that is a huge gamble. I say that cause after each sports season players take a sky dive. For example zions cards did. People are collecting to flip more than when we were kids. So it might be like that for other sports also.
so glad I'm well invested over time. need to get more Grading done, we've survived other things, and this too shall come to pass, keep stacking, keep filing, keep collecting.
Great video. Clear, succinct, and to the point. Great summary of this topic, considering there are soooo many variables. It’s usually easier to buy in lots of multiple psa graded cards from 1 single seller as you did, vs haggle with 3-4 sellers with 1 card each to try and get each card for current market value when they all have them priced 40% over what they currently sell for at the time. Also, beware of getting PSA 10 cards in slab holders with scuffs and scratches on them. Yes the actual card inside is a PSA 10 and Gem Mint, but slab condition can be a factor in re sell to the next buyer. Again, great video and keep em’ comin!
Bijan Izadi Bro I miss the smell of bubble gum mixes with the cardboard and wax! Think about how illegal and unsanitary or banned those packs would be! Haha
Fantastic knowledge bro. Myself im a long term buyer, and P.S.A buyer. I don't even attempt 'flipping' i may set up at a couple shows a year, my main lesson...collect within your financial means.
Just now getting into the market, excited to learn about the trade and hold some good ones but also make some quick flips once I get more knowledge, thanks for the video!
Lately I've been picking raw singles of really cheap players in bulk. My logic is: If their hype skyrockets then it's worth sending to PSA to make bank, if their hype just goes up some then I'll sell them raw for a small profit, and if they stay cheap I'll just breakeven or eat the cost and hold on to them. Short-term flipping is a grind but if you have some knowledge and time to commit, I think its worth it. Great Vid!
Don’t forget the 10% eBay took when you bought the card; now if you sell at a 25% profit, you broke even. That’s why I need to know I can make at least 50% on a card if I decide to sell it :). Thanks for your awesome vids; I’ve been buying non-Prizm Luka’s lately :)
Hey Matt, I really like your work. I'm glad you made this video. This whole "investors" (and flipping) craze has sorta got to me lately. If you're in the FB groups you've seen it. It seems the card market has more "investors" than Wall Street lol. I hope I make good purchases and some are personal interest buys and some are investments but I don't see myself as an investor. I own shares of stock in one company, am I a stock market investor, not really. What I'm getting at is I think cards should be fun first. It seems like it's too serious or regimented. Make sense?
I like flipping the new sealed product. I bought 8 Mosaic Basketball Mega boxes for around $410 at my local WM. I sold 4 of them on eBay a week later and made my $ back. I’m going to sit on the other until the season starts. Easy money guys.

Great video as always. I don;t collect for investment, but it definitely is a fun part of the hobby! Nothing wrong with making a few nickels to put into a card you really want for your PC.
If I see a raw card for $15 and a PSA 9 for $20 then I'll definitely scoop up that PSA 9. However, raw and un-graded cards that look gem mint 10 could fetch a higher sales price. A lot of guys don't like buying raw cards because its tough to tell the condition of the card in photo's but when in a case the condition is set in stone so that's why I aim for the graded stuff. But, either way, buying at the right time is the most important thing to do raw or graded. 👍
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR i figure if I have a raw card that i think is at least a 9 ...it's worth taking the chance to get graded....if it's a 10 I win, if it's a 9....I get what i would have gotten for it raw.

my only question with knowing the market is , does the style of card hold significance in a players stock, So like if trey young rookie cards were going up in value, and there was another trey young card that was also going in value, would there be be a difference in value because of the card type or is it just the players stock that holds the value

I get it ! Lol actualy I never really thought about the hype in its self but suppose that out weighs player statistics . I see that the 2 go hand and hand . Also your video just added to the hype ! Lol
Ugh, this is killing me, lol. I was watching a Luka 9 card Optic RC lot, and passed on it....It sold for $320 on Feb 28th...almost doubled in price in the last 2 weeks......
So for a guy who lives in europe, is it worth to invest/flip cards? I am afraid that no American Will buy it simply cus I live on Europe

Hey man, love the content! I have a gma graded 10 Tatum red white and blue prizm and was wondering if it was possible to send it to psa to be graded?
Yep, you would have to submit it as a crossover. Or you could break the case and submit it un-graded.
PSA COLLECTOR thanks for the reply!
Awesome video bro 👌🏽
Thanks, brother!
Hi. What type of internet connection do you use?
How do you do taxes on cards that you sell for a profit?
Nice video man. Appreciate it!!!
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for turning me onto gary vee what a great live stream last night.
I missed it what was it about?
Do you send other cards off for people to be graded? Thanks KENNY
No, not yet. I don't have enough time in the day to do group submissions... Maybe in the future though!
So with the NBA being locked out due to the Coronavirus do you think all the rookie cards be dropping? or is it a good time to be buying them ??
Key Killer 74 prices will go down but wait a week and see where prices are at. Follow NBA and see when they will return back to schedule.
After about two weeks I can see the prices dipping a bit, which is when I'll be buying. However, it could go up or stay stagnate. Only time will tell.
Hey I got alot of different kinds of footballs cards would u be interested in seeing any pics of them to see if any catch your eye I dont know any thing about any of this

That's up to you. I'm holding on all of my Traes for now at least until next season.
Thank you for the advice
I have so many good cards for grading. Is it worth sending them in to get it done?
I have been seeing that the backlog for the grading companies is way too long. More than just a few months. You’ll need to be patient if you do. Good luck.
13:35 from China? Isn't that a huge risk getting fake cards?
