In this video, I cover some basic sports card flipping tactics and some tips and tricks that I use when I want to research which sports cards to flip.
    -
    Sports Card Flipping vs. Investing:
Flipping involves buying cards at a low price and selling them quickly, often within a week to a month, hoping to capitalize on short-term price spikes.
Investing, on the other hand, involves holding onto cards for an extended period, often years, banking on gradual increases in value.
    Factors that Influence Card Value:
Player Performance: Exceptional game performance or reaching career milestones can cause a spike in a player’s card values.
Media Hype: Regular appearances and positive mentions in sports media, like ESPN or TH-cam channels, can fuel demand for a player's cards.
Community Hype: Fans and collectors talking positively about a player in forums, social media, and comments sections further add to the hype.
    Investing and Flipping Strategy:
Researching and being aware of a player’s performance, media presence, and overall popularity in the sports community.
Observing market trends and understanding the current going rate for particular cards.
Being mindful of potential returns, after considering platform fees, shipping, and other associated costs.
    Risks and Challenges:
Timing: Knowing when to buy and when to sell to maximize profits.
Financial Risk: Navigating losses if a card does not increase in value as anticipated.
Market Fluctuation: Accounting for the volatility of the sports card market, which can be influenced by factors like player injuries, scandals, or trading.
    Additional Points to Consider:
    Grading Cards:
While graded cards can offer a higher return on investment, it’s essential to consider grading costs and the time it takes to get cards graded.
    Market Saturation:
Being wary of market saturation for particular players or cards. High demand initially can lead to an influx of available cards, potentially causing values to plateau or drop.
    Player Longevity:
Assessing whether a player’s hype and performance is likely to be sustained over the long term. Short-term hype can be risky for long-term investments.
    External Factors:
Keeping an eye on external factors, like team performance, player trades, and season dynamics, which might impact a player’s card values.
    Wrapping Up:
Effective sports card flipping and investing involve a mix of thorough research, market trend analysis, and a bit of luck. Engaging in communities, subscribing to sports channels, and consistently observing player performance can be pivotal in making informed buying and selling decisions.
Remember always to invest responsibly, understanding the risks involved, and ensuring that your investments and flips are based on informed decisions rather than speculation. It’s also imperative to enjoy the process, celebrating wins, learning from less successful ventures, and appreciating the cards and the players that you choose to invest in.

Hey guys! I wanted to make a video on my approach to sports card flipping. I show you some examples of how I would flip sports cards and why. I also talk about the fees that you must take into consideration when you do flip cards. Let me know what approach you take. Do you prefer to FLIP or do you INVEST? Thanks for watching!

Hey PSA COLLECTOR, you made a video a while back about the most collectible Michael Jordan cards and I noticed that I have one of the cards you had on that list. It’s the 1996 Fleer Anticipation insert that I pulled myself as a kid. I’ve been trying to sell it for a while but I’ve never sold anything on EBay or anything like that so I was wondering if you’d be interested in it. It’s ungraded but in absolutely flawless condition. It’s been in a sleeve and a case with screws since the day I pulled it in 1996. If you have a way I can PM you and send you pictures then I’d love to do business with you. Thanks!

I really liked your video. I used to be a power seller on e-Bay about 19 years ago. I flipped just about everything back then: cards, other sports collectibles, CDs, DVDs, cosmetics, handbags, and anything else that I knew I could move quickly. The biggest difference back then was that the fees were much lower and shipping costs were too. There was also less competition amongst sellers. I made some nice supplemental income and it was fun. But even then, when you factor in the time that you had to put in, it wasn't really worth it. You also have to deal with occasional deadbeats and scumbags. Flipping cards or other items is a nice hobby, but it's not something to do to seriously try to make money, in my opinion. The major people profiting from this is e-Bay and shipping companies.

I think you have to do Both or you will end up losing in most cases 70 or 80% of cards usually tank especially if you’re in to collecting rookies. In my opinion it’s not really investing when you’re putting capital to players that are in the first few years you cannot predict injuries and longevity many things. If you want to think of yourself as being an investor you need to obtain Graded cards of most likely guaranteed Hall of fame Caliber or vintage Hall of Fame players.

I will say this that is a huge gamble. I say that cause after each sports season players take a sky dive. For example zions cards did. People are collecting to flip more than when we were kids. So it might be like that for other sports also.

Great video. Clear, succinct, and to the point. Great summary of this topic, considering there are soooo many variables. It’s usually easier to buy in lots of multiple psa graded cards from 1 single seller as you did, vs haggle with 3-4 sellers with 1 card each to try and get each card for current market value when they all have them priced 40% over what they currently sell for at the time. Also, beware of getting PSA 10 cards in slab holders with scuffs and scratches on them. Yes the actual card inside is a PSA 10 and Gem Mint, but slab condition can be a factor in re sell to the next buyer. Again, great video and keep em’ comin!

Lately I've been picking raw singles of really cheap players in bulk. My logic is: If their hype skyrockets then it's worth sending to PSA to make bank, if their hype just goes up some then I'll sell them raw for a small profit, and if they stay cheap I'll just breakeven or eat the cost and hold on to them. Short-term flipping is a grind but if you have some knowledge and time to commit, I think its worth it. Great Vid!

If I see a raw card for $15 and a PSA 9 for $20 then I'll definitely scoop up that PSA 9. However, raw and un-graded cards that look gem mint 10 could fetch a higher sales price. A lot of guys don't like buying raw cards because its tough to tell the condition of the card in photo's but when in a case the condition is set in stone so that's why I aim for the graded stuff. But, either way, buying at the right time is the most important thing to do raw or graded. 👍

Completely misleading and fake title. If you paid $33 on eBay then you paid another 10% in tax and possibly some shipping. So when you sell for $55 you end up paying almost 20% in fees so now we are at $37 and $44. Now you have to factor in the time and gas to get to post office or ink on your computer and paper and electricity. You maybe made $1-$5

Take into account all of eBay and PayPal fees, and there’s not much left.

Huh? Even after fees that’s still over 100% profit, I’d call that plenty left.
      $55 sale - $6.75fees (13%) = $48.25

When you send a submission do you usually send 100 cards? If so, what is the percent of return of the tens? This is all considering that you have four pointy corners, 55-45 centering, has checked the surface microscopically, perfect edges for every card?

What if you bought a psa9 of every rookie in 2021 as soon as the first cards come out and get graded? You would lose on 95% but hit huge on 5%. Obviously i mean within reason and with heavy research b4 hand.
    Like the top 20

my only question with knowing the market is , does the style of card hold significance in a players stock, So like if trey young rookie cards were going up in value, and there was another trey young card that was also going in value, would there be be a difference in value because of the card type or is it just the players stock that holds the value

I would love someone’s advice - I recently regained possession of my NBA cards from my collecting days as a kid. I have some absolutely incredible cards - rookies, a Kareem fleer sticker, etc. I really don’t know how to go about selling. Is grading necessary? Can I get great earnings selling them ungraded? I’m not trying to sell just to sell then be devastated learning what I could have made. I feel like I need to walk through this with someone.
