That Michael Jordan trade makes me feel sick. Not bc the Harden gamble didn't work out, but because he is signed to upper deck, is the most popular player ever, and you get insane leverage off of owning the single psa 10.

I’m really not surprised at that price because yes they are 1 of 1’s but many were just shields and laundry tags that were player worn rather than game worn. Plus they are literally 1 of 25’s at least in most products because of all of the parallels. The price was low because there are tons of one of ones out there and it really dampens demand. Also not a lot of the cards were autographed which kills the price. And lastly football in general does not do close to same comps when it comes to comparable players. Ja Morant cards from 2019 do a better than Kyler’s 2019 cards.

I wish I never watched this video. Those Murray's were mine. I only sold them at the time with Goldin because my wife and I were having our son and she was going to be at home with our son for 3 months after he was born. So my full time job income was the only income we would have for months. Thus why I sold them. Golding told me they were worth between 15k to 20k so I agreed to sell. Little did I know they would bury my lot in the back of the catalog for that auction and screw me over by never promoting my lot outside of putting it in the catalog. They should have sold for at least 3 times what I got for them. My son, my family, my other kids are always more important than cards. But I'm still heartbroken over having to sell them and for how little I got for them. Murray is my favorite player on my favorite team. :(

They're more coveted and valued higher than pretty much any of MJ's playing days auto cards except for the 1997-98 UD Game Jersey Auto which is in the millions. Bulls Uni On Card auto of Jordan is ALWAYS a hold.

Him trying to justify the trade even after he admits to it being a bad trade is ridiculous. Then he piles on with the “I know a huge MJ collector and he agrees with me”. Zero percent chance any real serious MJ collector would say his cards produced after his playing days aren’t as sought after. 2003-04 MJ exquisite cards are no brainers for collectors not to mention every other year through 2009-10. On top of that 2003-04 is LeBron, Wade, and Melo’s rookie year so that also adds to the value and collectibility of MJ’s within this particular set. Many other sets Upper Deck made throughout the subsequent years have extremely desirable and collectable MJs as well.

As someone who owns a few autographed jersey cards and collected as a kid, I don’t understand how there are so many limited edition cards of new players that are so ridiculously valuable. You would think values of proven, established players with proven results/careers would be far more valuable than they are. It must be it’s own high end market. Cards pulled from $20k boxes are going to have insane values I guess?

    • @ddeckard21

Kind of along the same lines I was thinking about autographs today. The market makes zero sense to me these days regarding them. They come out with hundreds of autograph cards in different quantities. And the ones with pink ink limited to 10 are worth way more than ones signed in blue limited to 99. Like what? An autograph is an autograph at least to me especially when talking about the exact same card style.

I know this because he was doing breaks of 3 or 4 cases at a time and I had Allen in the prior break and “only” hit an Allen colossal /25. The very next break he pulled not one, but TWO of the Allen Colossal RPAs /5. Considering there’s only 5 of them, there’s a good chance yours is one of two that was pulled by the legend himself in a span of about 10 mins. Go bills

For people in the era of Jordan and before, the statement about cards issued after retirement being worth less seems strange to me. There may be analytics that prove that, but I have never worried about paying a premium price for a card just because it was a post retirement card, especially of a star from the 1990s or before, when autographs were certainly not as plentiful and many of those older sets do not hold up to time.

It's good to see you show the lows as well as the highs as it's show people that even someone as well versed as yourself can still make mistakes or have gambles not pay off. For me, i invested in 2019/20/21 rookies this year, so that in itself could be my biggest mistake but i feel there was a abundance of talent in these 3 years and many of these have superstar potential so i'm playing the long game on these 3 rookie classes 😁 Wait i just looked at my cards and i see a lot of D.J Wilson cards, Autos, patches etc... i remember getting them for next to nothing but last time i checked a few months ago he was down in the G League..... I know zero about him other than his cards were dirt cheap but even cheap is over paying if they're worth nothing lol

That's why they call it investing!! You take your risks. Do your research..and I don't go off of my heart. I remember as a 12 yr old buying my first card, I bought a Claude LaRose OPC 1969-70. ..for a pack of Popeye candy cigarettes. Why him...because he was my mother's cousin. And from there it went on and on. But that's why I enjoy the hobby. I've enjoyed it all..I've bartered, ive sold..bought way more. And hopefully my son goes both feet in. Good luck..it's a blast!!

He's a rookie just like you but with more money.
Who in their right mind trades a pop 1 auto of Jordan for a hated superstar with no ring.
The guy also went all in on Lonzo Ball from the beginning. You never buy rookies right away, 99/100 times you will hold the bag in the long term.
Even if you're not in it for money like me, you are still going to be aware of market fundamentals to save money for even more cards. An experienced collector is never making these types of mistakes.
This channel though is really fun since you can observe the mindset of brand new collectors.

Keep that McDavid until he retires, if he gets anywhere close to Gretzky's records that card has even more room to grow. Look at how Ovechkin has passed Crosby in recent years as he is threatening Gretzky's goal record.

An update in 2024 reviewing his deals now and they were absolutely brutal. Lebron James Chrome refractor PSA 10 he paid 265K now worth 27K. Michael Jordan fleer rookie PSA 10 which he said "he timed perfectly" He paid only 218k now 140K. These are just a few bad investments that he has made in this single video.
