If they don’t affect claw retraction how come every time I see a picture of the claws are out I would like to try these But I can’t get over the fact that the claws don’t seem to be able to retract back in I can’t imagine that’s comfortable for the cat
If your cat wasn’t comfortable, it would definitely let you know and there is plenty of research that proves that these covers cause them no harm at all. If you are still worried about their comfort, you can supervise them more.
Size is very important, if they are too long cat will chew them off. I do just the front claws since my cat was three months. Even different brands have a little differenc in shape.
Claws do not naturally retract all the way into the paw. If you look at a cat's paw, you can see the ends of the claws when retracted, similar to fingernails. With the colored covers, it will look like painted fingernails when claws are retracted.

I would wonder if the wrong size is being used or they are growing out. The claws do retract ~ I believe the colour makes it seem otherwise.
