    Western Culture as Anti-Materialist (0:00)
Screen to Sensuality // Crowd vs Community // Work & Play (5:55)
Work, Play, Sex, & God (12:08)
“For the vast majority of American families, what seems to be the real point of life-what you rush home to get to-is to watch an electronic reproduction of life. You can’t touch it, it doesn’t smell, and it has no taste. You might think that people getting home to the real point of life in a robust material culture would go home to a colossal banquet, an orgy of love making, or a riot of music and dancing. But nothing of the kind-it turns out to be this purely passive contemplation of a twittering screen.” - Alan Watts

😭. We are life itself but we do not know it. Some of us are waiting to go to heaven and be joyous but we are running away from death at the same time. It is a cop up if you give it a second thought.

The U.S. has basically given up on creating an attractive landscape since then. It doesn't need to cost more to have a non-tacky buildings around us, but it seems people and institutions just can't help themselves. So much of what we feel is our personal identity is just alien culture living in our head... even though it has created an ugly world doesn't mean we have to live in an ugly inner one.

It's more today than ever. Few folk enjoy living. They simply carry on because commuting suicide is either wrong, or scary. Or both. Or hope things will change. I meditate for 2 hours daily. It my main form of joy, fun I have. OK. Bit sad. But at 54, with chronic fatigue syndrome. I'm limited. Fun things like holidays abroad, escorts and good food should be free, sometimes. So many are unhappy. Lonely. Isolated.

Knowing this in my soul I have never plugged into any system since I graduated from college. I’ve “paid” dearly for this in the predictable isolation - being sane is considered crazy - but I’m enjoying my middle age, even feeling intense joy most days and am really grateful I stayed true to life rather than embrace what the world insists we must become. I don’t recommend my way - I think it’s braver and better to engage with the world but if you are a lifetime outsider like me, I promise there is a pay off.

He was right about religion,, or better said false Christianity.
Since the time of the first Patriarchs, God instructed them to build altas in modesty, to build altas with plan rocks not carved in ornaments, Just plan rocks.
The Tabernacle and later the temple in Jerusalem, were not open to nobody only to the highly priest but once in every years, the inner corridos for the presta and the sacrifices, an it was blinded by a wall from the componerse in the outer corridos.
When the temple of Jerusalem was destroyed as a need for Christianity to grow strong, there was no need for temples of any kind, congregations yes, but now the temple of God is supposed to be every true bealiver his body and mind complete dedicated to serve God .
Jesus referente to himself as the New temple to replace the one made of Stones son to be destroyed ( Mathew chárter 24:14 he said about himself he will destroy this temple and bring it back in the third day and for those words he was judge an killed!

It is interesting that he talks about people believing we have bodies instead of being bodies. As if we should be saying we are bodies. He talks about being disassociated with them as a bad thing. Yet in some of his other lectures he says we are God experiencing existence using bodies; and that we aren't bodies, we are everything. This is a discrepancy in his teachings.

    • @seedfromatree

There you’ve discovered the paradox of life. Don’t stop there. It’s not just his teaching. You are and you’re not. The concepts and the thing in itself are simultaneous yet not the same. If you’re it, all of it, then you are your body and so much more. Not the thought of it, but actually it. Whatever it is. It is no thing. Still it is.

My success was awesome I found the pattern of life I was excited until I researched what I had and couldn't find anything then I found out why because I didn't stop researching then I discovered the more I researched the more wrong I found then I found that it revealed a very deeply disturbing situation that nobody has known for thousands of years the history itself the church all the books everything was linked together and intentionally hidden. To the point I fear now even trying to write a paper because what it uncovered i don't know if the right thing to do is to let I be or turn it in and become the anti Christ and hated forever then after they rip me apart they will use it to make careers out of my work as I will be set aside I know that's how it will go I'll be the bad guy as they profit and I struggle to survive Nobel prizes for incomplete incorrect work but doing it will be the death of me. Cool huh

Read James Joyce. His identity was Irish even though he did not or they did not allow him to live there. I feel JJ understood the human struggles but the humans did not understand him. Something has gone on over time that has caused so much segmentation of the human race that others, as you indicate tear our insight apart and this continues well past Allan Watts, Jesus, Budha you Jiddu Krishnamurti etcetera. The truth is beyond what most of us hold on as the truth.
