A good alternative to manual exposure settings is to program the front button for "exposure lock".. Leave the exposure in auto mode and get the drone in the air and face the camera toward the ground (eliminate the sky). Then press the exposure lock button and it will lock the exposure - worse case is the sky will occasionally be overexposed (that is ok), as the landscape will always be properly exposed no matter if you are facing toward or away from the sun or bright sky.. You can unlock and relock as needed on the fly (just remember to point the camera toward the landscape and eliminate any influence from the sky).. Much better and faster solution then trying to guess with manual settings using histogram..
As a noob drone pilot and spark owner, I really enjoy these tips! I had no idea how many professional tweaks could be done to make my work look so much better. That gimbal speed was changed about 3 seconds after I saw the setting on your video. THANKS!!!!
You have now helped me set up my new DJI Spark I purchased yesterday. Now you are helping me adjust best settings for cinematic real estate photography. Much luck to you my friend. YOU JUST EARNED A NEW SUBSCRIBER!!!
This clip was very useful to me because I'm a first time user on a DJI spark I got to know how to use the camera the best focus and the best setup I was really impressed.... Thank you..
Hey man- I watch quite a few of these tutorials, & I think yours are really good. I appreciate the way to talk to the viewers, such as when you’re telling them (us) that it’s not about the equipment, its about skill, so go hone yours. Too many people think it’s the equipment. Nice work.
Thanks for the video and all the tips. I just got a Spark myself and it is a little different from what I'm used to, so this video really helped. Now, I do have to mention one thing which in my opinion it is extremely important. I own a Mavic Pro which I use as a hobby and professionally, and as a video editor I have to tell you, that while in video mode, if one can set the shutter speed to 60 and completely avoid changing it, it will definitely help not only with the "cinematic look" but with all videos in general. Because the Spark only records video at 30 fps the shutter speed must be at 60 to create a more natural motion blur, otherwise whenever there's movement in the video it will look very weird. Now, because during sunny days it is impossible to have proper exposure without having to touch the shutter speed, then getting a set of ND filters for the Spark will solve this issue of having to get the shutter speed higher than 60 when it is too sunny.
Thank you so much for this video!!! I recently bought a spark fly more combo and this guide is probably the best how & why to setup for cinematic footage!!!
Just wanted to say I really appreciate your videos...I just picked up my spark two days ago and I actually had to go back sent you some of your previous videos on the spark and figure out what I was doing wrong on some of my settings... And they helped..👍🏽👍🏽..
*Hello* As a drone woman, I really appreciate your tips! especially with the gimball setting !!! Thank you for sharing with us your experience. Well done work and explanation. I will try to set my gimball at 11 for my videos!
Man I love your content, (new spark owner), but more than all the great info you provide... I love the way you present it, I can tell you are sincere, not presenting your info in a condescending way is huge thing as many on TH-cam do just that. I subbed your channel, your content is top notch, and I like your style. Thanks for the help!
Wow great and amazing video Dovey. Thanks for sharing this great video with us. I really appreciate all the help, information and updates. I just got a Dji Spark about 3 weeks ago and I love it. After watching the video I now know a lot more on how to get better videos and pictures. Thanks sooo much Sir. I really appreciate all the love and support my Drone brother. Thanks for all you do and please keep flying. Have a great evening. 🙏👨✈️🚁👍💯✌️
jeven dovey ur the mannnnn u inspired me to create my own channel called DroneWith Fin i am uploading drone content every 3~4 days thank you Jeven Dovey for inspiring me to start my channel
Thanks man...this helped a lot! The auto is "ok" but now that I have seen this video, I can put my photography knowledge/experience to work. I have always enjoyed the hobby of photography and for 20yrs now, enjoyed the hobby of RC. Great tips!
Wow, you really opened my eyes a bit here. Am still waiting for my controller to show up, and this is one of the better videos I've seen among the many.
Thanks, good info! I've had my spark a few days now and love it. I felt the video was kinda meh... But the still images are actually quite good. Going to try these settings tomorrow.
Great job explaining mate! Most videos of people teaching stuff is pretty boring but you made it entertaining and I was able to learn! Keeping it simple and to the point! Thanks 👊🏼
Another error on here people need to be well aware of. The RTH at current altitude and RTH at set altitude are not one or the other options. In fact it is highly recommended that RTH at current altitude is turned on. RTH at current altitude option is for under 20 meters only. If you have it turned off, if under 20 meters away it will land where it is regardless of where it is. If over 20 meters away it will follow your set rth altitude. Thanks for all the other incoming this video though, really useful and has improved my videos massively
RTH at current altitude recommended??? Are you insane? Most people, MOST, fly their Spark well beyond 20m from Home Point, and around objects. Current altitude RTH can kill a drone.
What I love about this video is how you explained the Manual camera controls at mark 5:41 or so... and nice sneak plug-in on the apparel there haha, glad you kept that super short :)
Another great tutorial video. Your channel has become my go to for getting better video out of my DJI products. Thanks! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
Thanks for setting this up Iomega using spark and I’m working on getting the right effects didn’t;t know how to do but I do now. Appreciate you sir keep it going!
I have just subscribed, and I don't subscribe often. Very informative. Thank you. I have a light aircraft license, am new to drones and have little expertise in photography. Got a little toy HolyStone for Christmas and am now very close to purchasing a Fly More Kit of the Spark. Looking forward to following and learning from you. btw, 86yro male.
Oooo wow I have been shooting houses for the last year with my phantom 4 and have had great shots but after watching this I tried 2 or 3 houses and was tipped extra on amazing work.... thanks for all the advice. For the hell of it going to try a house with the spark lol. But still going to bring the phantom just in case... thanks man you rock...
I live in North Bennington Vermont Love all your Info. I have a question. I am going to purchase a Mavic Pro 2 .. Is it as easy to set up as my Spark *(?) Basically the same with extra features 🤔. Please let me know! Your the Best Guy on TH-cam for drones. ROCK ON BROTHER. Curious what part of the Country do you live ?
Cool video - thanks. But you forget about tripod mode - the best for cinematic footage - and blocking the exposure - since Spark doesn't have manual exposure control on the controler. It's good to find the best exposure, and hit the button to block it. U can use the FN button to bind with it.
Thanks for being a responsible channel and pilot man!! I know thats a huge pain because I've had to redo a few videos myself! 👍👍👍 Merry Christmas bro and again thank you!!
Just got my drone for Christmas, your videos Are great! Thanks! Do we have to set up the settings every time you fly or do they stayed saved? Thanks. Merry Christmas!
Awesome video! Thanks for all the great tips as I’ll be using them this weekend when my new, first ever DJI Spark comes in!!!😁 It’s been a long time Hobbie of mine and I’ve had plenty of pieces of crap. Finally splurged for a DJI and I’m excited!! Thanks again!
Excellent video! I am new to the Spark so any tips like this very informative video makes life easier for me.. It’s probably easy but how do you edit the best possible footage from your Spark or have you done a video on the steps required similar to this video? Merry Christmas from Sydney, Australia! JEROME
Thanks for the tips! Any advise on smoothing out the yaw of the Spark? I find that you have to have a very steady hand to get a yaw that doesnt studder or seem jumpy.
Love your videos great stuff. I am following this one and the thing is when I go to the camera settings I have no gear icon to turn the histogram on. Have I missed something else somewhere?

Jim Richard thanks for this helpful tip
what front button? Drone? Mobile? Controller?
@@AndreasSchroederphotography Controller... set in app.
Thanks Jim Richard :)
It’s nice not having to keep manually tweaking the camera settings.
Jim Richard awesome call out thanks
As a noob drone pilot and spark owner, I really enjoy these tips! I had no idea how many professional tweaks could be done to make my work look so much better. That gimbal speed was changed about 3 seconds after I saw the setting on your video. THANKS!!!!

Your jump cuts are practically seamless. Very smooth. Great advice also on settings. Thanks for posting.
*Hello* As a drone woman, I really appreciate your tips! especially with the gimball setting !!! Thank you for sharing with us your experience. Well done work and explanation. I will try to set my gimball at 11 for my videos!
Bought a Spark last week. Love it... Stupid question - what video editing software should I use? I’m completely lost.
Man I love your content, (new spark owner), but more than all the great info you provide...

Casey Gavette nice video
Kristy Harden ??? What reasons?
Wow, you really opened my eyes a bit here. Am still waiting for my controller to show up, and this is one of the better videos I've seen among the many.
Great comment about learning to get cinematic shots with a Spark vs using a 4K drone without knowing the technique. Especially for novices like me.
Great video, i just got my spark and thanks to your video i easily & quickly learn everything about it.
so cool. own spark 3months but can't wait to try this setup !! thanks a lot!
:)
I just got my spark today, this is the third video I have seen about sparky and it really helps big time!!! thanks a lot jeven!!!
Great tips, thanks! Your point about (paraphrasing) "not the camera you're using but how you're using it" - totally bang on! Cheers.
Half the battle is just getting the courage to just go for it. Once you get over that vlogging is pretty easy
That´s like guitars: a good guitarist can make a shitty guitar sound good, and a shitty guitarist can make a 5000 guitar sound like crap...
Steve Coutts so agreed with this.
Thanks, good info! I've had my spark a few days now and love it. I felt the video was kinda meh... But the still images are actually quite good. Going to try these settings tomorrow.
One of the best videos on youtube, a must watch. Thanks
Thanks a lot! I just reconfigured my settings, it was all automatic. Great and objective tips!
Great Video I have been telling people the same thing forever, the spark when setup correct shoots some amazing video, the key is when setup correct.
Great job explaining mate! Most videos of people teaching stuff is pretty boring but you made it entertaining and I was able to learn! Keeping it simple and to the point! Thanks 👊🏼
Thank you so much for posting. I am new to drones and my rear just learned a lot!

Thanks for all the info. Awesome video.
Thank you sir, your explaination is superior!
Thanks for the tips! Any advise on smoothing out the yaw of the Spark? I find that you have to have a very steady hand to get a yaw that doesnt studder or seem jumpy.
Jamel DeCasseres Go into settings and change into Tripod Mode. This will slow down all the movements with the sticks and smooth your panning. Go slow.
can you make a tutorial about the iso and shutter speed? what are the best values on specific cases ?
Great! Another great video from you! Keep it up!
very very helpful for beginners!!! TY
Love your videos great stuff. I am following this one and the thing is when I go to the camera settings I have no gear icon to turn the histogram on. Have I missed something else somewhere?
thanks to your videos sir :D it really help me a lot 👍👍👍
Fantastic video man, helped me out big time, one question though, what video size and format do you suggest? Cheers mate.
30fps 1080p is what I shoot
