You are such a lovely person. Your expression is awesome.
After going through countless videos on setting up DJI Spark, I have come to the conclusion that your's are the best, hands down.
Whenever I store away my Spark and later after a few months want to fly it, I just go through your videos to refresh my knowledge of setting it up etc. Well done man. You are a champ.

Buying drones is really way out of our budget and most reviewers said this drone is crap... but with your info we have finally decided to get this. Subbed! and yes it's 2019!!!!! hahahaha

I just got my Spark 3 weeks ago as well! (with the controller). I had no idea it had most of the features of the Mavic Pro or I would’ve bought one a long time ago.
I bought a Mavic Pro the next week only because I found an amazing clearance sale, and honestly I like both equally! The Spark is 75% of the machine the Mavic Pro is. The main difference is the Mavic has 2x the runtime (which is huge) and 4x the range (which is also huge, IF you’re someone willing to fly far, far, far out of sight - only some people are.)
The Spark and the Mavic Pro both on Sport mode both feel like rocketships!!! My flight logs say my max speeds achieved are 35 and 43mph respectively (DJI rates them at 31 and 41mph), and that’s not much difference. The Spark might actually be quicker in agility due to its tiny size, I’m not positive but that’s my feeling after owning both.
The Spark turns out to be totally underrated, at the clearance price of $199 at Target with controller, it’s easily the best $200 I’ve ever spent in my life and surely the best value in all of drones.
All the reviewers you mention who said the Spark is “crap” , are full of it! For the typical owner, the Spark probably makes more sense! I know a Mavic owner who is afraid to fly it out of sight, well you can easily do that with the Spark, so his extra $$$ was largely wasted. To make matters worse, BECAUSE he spent so much on his Mavic, he’s very afraid to fly it, so he hardly ever does. I bet I flew my Spark more in the first 2 weeks than he has flown his Mavic in the entire 2 years he’s owned it! No joke.
(Funny thing, I have a best friend who bought a Dodge Viper GTS, and it’s the same story. Awesome beast of a high performance car... that cost so much he drives it SO little he barely uses 1 full tank of gas in an entire year. And he’s a hard core car enthusiast and drag raced his past hot rods dozens of times! I thought the Viper was going to be so awesome when he got it. But in reality I think I’ve personally only seen him driving it 4 times in over 10 years.)

Flew about an hour yesterday with controller and about half the time in sport mode - WOW, that was a lot of fun! One thing I find difficult if not impossible is to keep up with and/or read all of the messages or warnings that flash on the screen during flight. Someone suggested using a screen recording app but I found that DJI Go 4 has a flight log that will play back the messages along with retracing your flight path. Its great to go back and review what you've done.

Hey, just a quick note of thanks and appreciation. Your tip about the SD OTG cable was really helpful. I’m a newbie (brand new!) and tried the tablet instead of my phone. I was filming a flagpole and I lost connection. The drone landed safely but I could imagine several less fortunate scenarios. So, I’m headed to make that purchase now!

the video is called how to get the most out of the spark. This isnt what the most is....this is what you should at least know before powering the drone for the first time. You get the most of anything when you actually know what everything is. The only missing thing is the unboxing.

    • @michaelc3693

I found that without them, mine was able to shred drywall. :-) That sounds really cool, but as soon as it touches the wall it becomes unstable and falls out of the air... I have prop guards now. The other thing that messes it up inside the house is the obstacle avoidance: it panics near walls or flying over tables, chairs, etc. Air currents from its own prop wash bouncing off the walls and a lack of a GPS signal also make it a little more unstable indoors than out. But with a little bit of room it is a great indoor drone. The ability to fly intelligently and stabilize itself makes it much more controllable than the average toy.

Fantastic tutorial for rank beginner who hasn't even bought a photo-drone yet, but is now seriously considering the "Spark" as his first.
Thank you for excellent instruction and very clear comments. FYI, I hope to learn this photo-drone sufficiently well to survey my family's commercial cattle ranch's miles of fence lines. We have had no rustling yet, but I have seen evidence of someone casing the place (I think) by horseback coming across a 30,000-acre state park to scope out access.
If I can fly the drone from my truck and monitor what it's seeing, I should be able to apprehend any trespassers before they even know they're being watched. Needless to say, I am always armed out there; now I'll have "eyes in the sky" oversight - absolutely invaluable - though, of course, it won't help at night.

I've been flying drones for around 4 years now. I have an Immersionrc Vortex 250 pro, a DJI Mavic Pro, and I'm going to get a DJI Spark soon. I have shown my mavic to around 4 different people from work and within a week all of them bought the drone. I spoke with my buddy last week and I was like....hey how do you like the Mavic? And he said...oh its awesome...but I wrecked it last night. I said...how? And he was like..yeah I was flying it indoors and it started drifting right into the wall. So yes, as a noob never fly your aircraft indoors until you have successfully mastered the controls, and have disabled GPS to prevent the quad to actively look for GPS satellites thus causing it to drift into your walls at home.

I have an important question, when I use my active track mode & highlight myself & then it keeps saying aircraft too low... that could mean anything, too low to the ground? low battery? wifi? whats going on? I even raise the drone higher up over 10 feet above me & it still says aircraft too low

    • @FlytPath

Yes. Just know your battery will drain faster.

    • @michaelc3693
      @michaelc3693 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I also found that you want to keep the drone warm before flying. I had mine tell me the battery was too cold for it to take off despite having four lights lit. I had left it in the back seat of the car all day and tried to fly it after work. This is in Maine in single-digit temps. When the temperature is around 15F, and it has been stored someplace warm before flight, it does pretty well and still manages 13+ minutes of battery life. Really a remarkable piece of hardware.

    • @FlytPath
      @FlytPath  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Alex Kelly sorry that landing was done manually. Basically I flew back to me, let it hover, put my hand under and then pull the left stick down to initiate landing. Auto landing in the palm only works if already in gesture mode.

Not sure if you mentioned this regarding OTG and the Spark, but if you hook up the OTG to the remote, it turns off the wifi connection to the GO app. I was a bit let down when I connected my DJI Goggles with the USB and GO4 disconnected on my phone (SSID was gone as well). I was hoping that they would both be functional, but apparently not. Also, the Spark geofences itself to 100' agl and 150' horizontal when tethered to their goggles.

Thanks a lot for (all your) nice and informative video's.
I am interested in buying the Spark, but I have a specific shot in mind that I am not sure about if the Spark with it's 2 axis gimbal will be able to make.
I would like to film a moving object (like a train) while flying SIDEWAYS where the object would enter the frame moving left to right (or vice versa)
Both with the gimbal at an 80 degrees angle and something like 40 degrees.
Do you have such shots to show or could / would you make some of those shots to show weather the gimbal can compensate for the angle in which the Spark is flying?
    Thanks in advance!
    Peter

Sideways flying will be difficult for the gimbal. I would recommend the Mavic for a train shot for the speed and gimbal.

Peter! I've had the Spark for more than 6 months now, and its the most vertile and all-round drone in its size on the market today.
The side shots are amazing as long as you have the technique to do so. Otherwise I'd recommend the Tripod mode as shown in the video.
If you would like to see some of the raw footage I shot over these past months, then feel free to message me!

Best thing I ever done was use a cable between my smart device and the Spark controller for a direct connection. DJI were fools for not sending the correct data cable with the fly more package.

I was so tempted, the only reason I managed to refrain is because of my first drone (a $50 MJX WiFi FPV with barometer hover but no GPS) and how many times I crashed that indoors.
Flying indoors SUCKS! It’s WAY too small. Even after being experienced and flying often in Sport mode outside, I still haven’t dared to fly my Spark indoors even once.
      Resist the urge!

Great videos! When I got my Spark Combo a week ago, I couldn't connect the Spark to my iPhone as the instructions mentioned (terrible btw!) so I went to DJI tutorial videos which was very slick and goes at 1,000mph which was no bloody use at all, so came to your channel, it very informative as other people as have said. Thanks for your hard work in putting on these videos, appreciated!
