I completely agree with Rich in that the word I keep thinking of while playing this game is polished. The on-the-fly crafting, the way you can activate and deactivate quests from multiple different parts of the menu, just small little details that make me think wow, this is what it used to be like when a studio took their time and released games when they were ready.
12:33 Hey, it's not Smelting, but it is Rost ... Rust? Like the old and generation has lost it's prime. Maybe they got a little nuanced there in the writing!
Horizon is a real breath of fresh air in this day and age. You climb towers to reveal territory, hide in tall grass, collect an infinite amount of crafting materials and sneak around while taking out patrols with your bow. Never done that in a video game before!
I don't blame Rich for complaining about having to aim with a controller. Think of it like this: let's say you're a professional photographer and you have a fancy $3,000 DSLR. Most people will say, "I can just take pictures with my phone", and that's true for most people who don't need professional quality photos. But if you, as a professional photographer, find yourself somehow stuck taking pictures with a phone, you're really going to miss all of the quality and dedicated functionality of your DSLR. It's the same thing when you go from the precision of a mouse to a comparatively clunky analog stick. It's fine for most people, but when you're used to something better, it's hard to downgrade.
Perfect analogy, but it also explains why most people can be happy without mouse controls. Clearly you don't need a DSLR to enjoy the core entertainment of taking pictures, that much is clear looking at the popularity of phone cameras.
I prefer the precision of auto-aim. I could aim myself, but I want the game to do it for me, so that it's easier. It's just too hard for me to aim myself. This is an accurate analogy.
That totally makes sense, but I gotta say I still prefer the controller. To me it makes it feel more like aiming in real life. The slight bit of feedback from the analog stick reminds me of the tension of a bow string. Granted I've only used cheap mouses (mice?) so I might change my mind. There are times when I would like to hit the fern target! :)
This made me want to play this game! Should have gone the PS4 route back in the day :(. Great review keep up the great work! That Nukie collection is looking great!
They've mentioned it, and the classic problem of "not wanting to start on the third game", sadly, that doesn't really matter at all. Witcher 3 is that fucking good, you don't need to play 1 and 2 at all.
~21:00 - Can't you use the touchpad in the PS4 controller for that? I don't know because I have not played that, but... it's... kinda... like... It should be used for that..? If Guerrilla didn't put precision aiming there, then it's a complete oversight on their part. Cuz, I mean, it's _there_.
Exactly. Souls games on PC but no Bloodborne. Why? because Sony put their money on that to be a PS4 exclusive, and there's no way around that. Same with God of War or any other Sony firts party studio game. They don't care for PC revenenue because console profit is much higher anyway (ask UBI) and those are made to sell Sony's system over their rivals.
Already played it, Toussant DLC included. Great game indeed, but I have to say that some things I like better in Horizon Zero Dawn. The boss fights in Witcher 3 are not this great.
Jesus Pedrosa Witcher 3 was great, but I only remember it for its quests and not combat. With more and more console exclusives, everyone is getting fucked except sony. To be fair, they want as much revenue as they can get since everything else they do is practically dead by now.
I would be too. I play nearly all of my games with mouse+keyboard, but there are some games that I preferred with a controller. Witcher 3 for example just felt nicer with the controller, EXCEPT the fucking crossbow. It pulled me out of the game and broke the immersion when I noticed the frustration levels rise. I'm used to seeing a thing and within less than half of a second I have aimed and fired at it with near perfect accuracy. With the controller its just fiddling around, trying to move the character instead of the aiming reticle so you can minimize the chance of aiming too far in one direction. Then shooting. Its just frustrating to someone who isn't used to that that kind of slowness. That's why I eventually ditched the crossbow in witcher 3 and never used it. The griffin fights sure were a pain in the ass without it, but still very doable. I start to feel frustrated when I even think about aiming with that thing.
It being objectively better or not is irrelevant. Lots of people are fine with it and if you accept it as a the control scheme, you will get used to it. Bringing it up as an argument in every console game review is pointless and a waste of time. It's uncompromising in the way that he cannot get over it, even though I (grew up playing exclusively on the PC) and many others have no issue with it. It's as petty as saying, yeah the game is good, but I'm going to mark it down because you can only play it with an Xbox controller instead of the PS4 controller which I like better. It's not a feature of the game. All it shows that he's incapable of adapting, which is his personal issue, and that's fine, but I don't need to keep hearing about it.
"That's because mouse aim is objectively the superior way to aim" In my opinion there are two things with mouse-aim that i don't like. The first one is that while it may very well be an objectively superior way to aim, has anybody considered that it might be too good? That nobody short of John Wick using a gun or a bow could achieve such speed and precision in their attacks, but an average pc-gamer can pull of one headshot after another. At least a controller makes you work for your kills, instead of having them be boxes to be clicked with deadly efficiency. Second problem i have with mouse-aim comes from watching lets play's of games people using their COD/Battlefield honed reflexes and mouse-setting in slower first person shooter-type games like Dishonored. Seeing them go in the door look at 3 different things within one second, rush from this object to that, missing a bunch of stuff in between, while looking like they're a gerbil on amphetamines just makes it impossible for me to think that we're watching something important happen trough an actual person eyes. All of this just takes all the immersion out that might've been generated some seconds earlier when the player wasn't waving their avatars head around at speeds that could cause either a concussion or a snapped neck. Yes, shooting small canisters with a bow of the back of a robot that is running at full tilt is hard to do with a controller and that's my point. Shouldn't it be? So, with all due respect to Rich, he is used to being a superman in mouse-aim games and now that he has to dwell in the realm of the mortals, he's not going to finish the game... Ok.
If your game's entire essence of challenge is down to how well you can aim your gun/weapon, I think you've failed at designing your game. Mouse control is better for the reasons mentioned above, but that's it. Doesn't mean you should have to use a controller just to have a challenging game mechanic (shooting the weakspot etc etc).
8:44 SOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo...youre saying there is no mouse & keyboard adaption to other consoles. LIKE PS4 OR msGREENBOX ? [OPEN QUESTION ]
Clear out bandit camps which have alarms that can call in reinforcements Climb towers to reveal areas of the map Dumbed down, tedious crafting system Pointless collectables Bad storytelling Hmmm Reminds me of every Ubi$oft game ever
Love this game so far. It takes the often boring "open world" genre and makes it interesting. Borrowing from all over the place from other games and puts it togheter beautifully. The battles with some of the machines are nothing but pure awesomness and I can't stress enough that the battles gets more depth if one skips the dumb mode normal and pushes at least one step above. Its a breath of fresh air among AAA titles. Also the story in this game is really cool so far as I played. Having me invested enough to keep on playing so I can find out what is going to be unraveled.
How about the combat? I wait with baited breath for you to tell me a game that has even vaguely similar combat. And from your answer/s I will be able to determine whether you have played the game or not.
*Spoilers* Aloy's character...I mean I grt why aloy doesn't want to be the "anoited" but I don't see why she even derseves it, throughout the entire stroy aloy has been in the position of almost constantly dying and being a sarcastic ass. Like she's on a cliff and gets attacked by a machine and gets saved by vala's tribe and the woman says "wow you could have died it I were a few seconds late, you should be careful." And aloy replies "In two more seconds I would have killed it myself." and it's like when you rewatch that cutscene she didn't even have time to remove her bow that thing was inches from killing her. She even had to be personally saved by sylens, like aloy is very careless and her sarcastic attitude to people who help her is super annoying cause the scarcasm is totally undeserved. She's also this chosen protagonist because she shares the same blood as her mom (funny how we never learn who the dad is.) so she seems more swept up in all this. And if that's what their going for fine but that whole "This world is a precious place." is an overdone plot point and the fact that she snaps at them for worshiping her which I agree wtih but for the wrong reasons "First you shun me and now this?" Because you're a brave now something you fought for, to find your mother and be accepted. She's acting as if they still do shun her and alot of these people even help her despite her being an outcast. People have even asked her for help in which she selfishly declines but shen she needs someone elses help "why won't you help me!?" And even the line "The generosity of it." But aloy's not very generous people have to beg her for help, the only people I seen her willingly help were injured and sobing, it seems very hypociritical that she acts one way but states like others matter, like she wants to be these things but is too much of a jerk to change. It's weird...Like I started out this game defending her because people were judging her an hour in the game; but now I just she's such a bad character, she contridicts herself constantly and now I see why so many say this game has bad writing, it's depressing cause I had high hopes for aloy and her game...sigh The dialouge trees don't even effect the story at all, the guy who you throw a rock at states he'll "pay you back" equally and dies super early so the concequence means nothing.
SuperMicklovin And is her tribe her family? Yes! Look you don't seem to be *paying attention* Just because I say vala's tribe which I only called her tribe because her mother and brother run it and I don't remember the name so I use familier terms, doesn't mean again I stated she owned it or ran it cause otherwise I would *say* it. Dingus, stop taking everything so literal. Literally people help her out everywhere, that's what the story is about, her own tribe doesn't do much but others put the effort in, again no excuse for being snide to people who saved your life. No excuse. You're reaching "Unless you mean the nora making her a seeker." you know damn well I'm talking about the people who helped her outside the nora, that's why I mention vala's tribe and I will continue calling it vala's tribe cause I don't remember the name and no that doesn't make my sentences not phrased properly as many do the same in the comments. She killed like one person in a cutscene, and that was the guy who slit her throat and ANY OTHER TIME SHE HAD AT LEAST ONE PERSON HELPINH HER you see how flawed your rebuttal is? Like I use facts from the game. When she fights some of the masked men with vala's tribe she has them to help! When she confronts that bald guy with the focus she has help from sylens and is told she should go in quietly something she says to herself! That dude with the hammer helps her multiple times. etc etc and everyone is good at killing the machines cause vala's brother and mother take one down with two arrows saving aloy, you have to know how to deal with these things to *survive* in this world! Aloy's doing something everyone can, this isn't about her killing ability you're missing the point this is about her literally being an ass to everyone who's nice to her yet she wants to be "accepted" and talked to but she acts like a smug child who literally gets mad when people won't help her despite the fact she won't help help people unless they beg or are injured? Like there's two times she's charitable and that's jarring comparred to her characters actions later in the game, she was always a helpful child or at least she tried and seeing her smile from helping out others was nice, I was starting to think we'd have a character who once our her own tribe would find friends among the others, but her responses make it seem like she's ungratful for the help people give her. And then she lectures sylens about gratitude when she's never shown any? Like that's like you getting overly angry for no reason the lecturing me the calmer person about keeping a leveled head. It's not about having *enough* character it's about having *conflicting* character
***** I agree with you overall point, however I still think her character is conflicting with her ideals. She talks to sylens about feelings and charity yet most of the game she's either questioning everything; which isn't really a gripe against her or being sarcastic even if people help her. So hearing a person who's shown little to no love even alongside rost who's been all business during her life making their relationship seem distant, under developed and kinda one sided. Don't get me wrong I know she loves him and vise versa but rost's avoidence of questions and such made it seem like she was a job more than raised by him, they never interact on a personal level and most multiple choice questions are instantly shut down making him seem....static and cardboard same for her cause she's the same nathan drake sarcastic, overconfident white character we seen a billion times. I'd think I'd understand her character and even come to like her more if she was a bit more selfless, charitable and such so her lines and preaching about love, kindness and such don't fall to the wayside, and even if she was shuned I still think a thanks to vala's clansmen would have been nice, especially when she's stated to be shuned two people helping her and then talking to her? I don't know It would have been nice if she had a bit more of a reaction. "You helped me...and you want to speak with me? an outcast?" "We don't follow the customs of your tribe, you're a hunter to us." And forging these bonds beyond maybe protecting one town and avenging vala by stoping some killers would feel more substancial and make it seem like they'd fight for aloy if they didn't act like they were devoid of all personality expect for one emotion Aloy: Always sarcastic tone, Vala's mother: Angry black chick (that's such a waste) and her son: Stoic dutiful guy. I can't tell you how many times I seen the self lothing, flirtatious drunk character. But I'm so used to deal character blowing me away with games like this ans strong bonds and characterization etc etc that I guess I kinda expected to much and overhyped it? I don't know. I just find the message aloy tries to express kinda weightless when she's done no such thing and we as the player and just suppose to accept this sudden heel turn of character.
***** Thinking it over it's not her sarcasm that annoys me it's the lack of anything else behind it, her whole character is just being sarcastic, we never learn if she has any hobbies or what truly makes her happy cause she spends a majority of the game a stoic sarcasm machine. Like the writers didn't know how to impliment more than one emotion I would understand if she felt human at all. I don't just go through one emotion- I go through many different one's, moods, feelings etc. Her archtype is sarcasm which is pretty boring considering, she wanted to get out in the world and explore and learn from it and ...she doesn't until the end and it's more about her mother than the world, she goes from being a child who wants to fit in, be respected, work hard, take no nonsense and be helpful to a void of one emotion and no real personality. I wouldn't compare her to your friend, again she's just one emotion; you may see a bit of her in your friend which I suppose is fine for some but for me? I have no such connection, aloy has not shown much rationality and the rational she has shown? Is understanding that should be obvious. Push the bomb out the window (well to be fair the "villian" did a shotty job at not only hiding it but didn't even lock the door? It made him seem incompetent which when I played was confused he boasted about how "better" he was then proceeded to go down with one or two hits of my staff.) And I think the second time (cause any other time she was following someone elses lead) was when she told soldiers who were just standing their to man some guns, which given they were seeing carnage on the horizon you'd think they'd be smart emough to do it on their own. I think your friend and aloy are two different people, the interactions seem static and very business like, aloy doesn't really seem to get closer to anyone animal or human in game. I would agree but like I mentioned before, she does act sarcastic when vala's family comes to her aid in attacking a robot she didn't see and almost got her and her response is basically "I would have done it myself." despite her barely noticing it in time and not having her weapon drawn. As mentioned in the last paragraph she seems to keep everyone at arms length, which would be fine if again she didn't go and preach about life and hope and selflessness when she didn't care about life nor ever expresses such, never mentions hope before the scene and selflessness isn't her thing cause people usually have to beg for her help or ask and she then acts snide then turns around and when people who don't know her won't die for her she gets angry making her see heartless. Alot of her stuff is also for revenge fights and kills guy in red headdress not to help but "You should of killed me yourself." Regardless this is the game we got; I am glad you agree, I think they were so focused on the open world and gameplay (which is very solid) that they glossed over characterization, character growth, interactions and so on, and this is why I'm so disappointed. Because I share your gripe....er granted I did overhype this for myself, I thought this was gonna be a game of a person's discovery of living alogside machines in this vast world, behind the eyes of a young woman, we rarely seem to get female protagonist in the past so I was curious to see where'd she'd go if she would be apart of a beloved cast of memorable characters; espeically since this is an action rpg esc game I figured they at least try with the characters, but they just all seem to want to be away from each other as soon as possible, or even slightly detest each other, like the only reason their talking to an outcast is because she's known for helping and they take advantage of her kind and giving nature to the point where she blew up- if they took that angle in the story it probably might flow better. Exactly I found myself confused like I nad to talk to npc's again for the actual interaction, like the game was in a hurry to get me out of that mission. I feel like thye didn't want to weight down or they thought they would weight the game down with "too many cutscences."
To answer that question would require MAJOR spoilers: She doesn't have a father, (or a mother, for that matter) because she's a clone of Elisabet Sobeck. No sperm, and with the right technology, no egg required. So if you want to get technical, her genetic mother and father are Sobeck's mother and father.
I mean I don't think anyone could argue that m+k controls give you less precision than a gamepad. How frustrating it might get depends on how much experience you have with gamepads. I primarily play on PC and I'm not having too many problems with the controls, even with the auto-aim off. Really though, it's a moot point since Sony has an iron grip on the game so it'll unfortunately never come to PC.
Funny enough Alloy was actually based on and modeled after the one girl from game of thrones (ive never seen the show) but i guess she is a hunter or something. Pretty cool when u look at side by side! Love your content found your channel today and have watched for at least 4 hours now while playing metal gear survive.. cough... cough lol thanks guys!
Meanwhile citizens respond and jump away when you attempt to harm them in Zelda, and cutting down trees is not only a well implemented mechanic, but also necessary to access certain areas by bridging gaps in Zelda
Really? I watched about half an hour on twitch and if this game was nothing else but world and story, I would still want to play it because of how it looks, the voice acting, the world. This just looks like a bigger better version of the last two Tomb Raider games, and those had my jaw drop every time I entered a new area.
Oh look, another video game with a flat chested action chick protagonist, where everyone has an SJW haircut and is multicultural, and there's a dead/kidnapped father figure. It's like it was tailor-made to guarantee I will never fucking buy it.
Puke Rat, everything I listed was an overdone AAA trope. "Damsel in Distress is bad? Ignore that women actually like that, and let's have some older dude with a beard die or get kidnapped at the start of the game." "Attractive characters? No, let's have everyone have dreadlocks, feaxhawks, randomly shaved heads and face tattoos. I live in San Francisco/Canada, and this is my perception of how minorities would dress/act." The obsession with flat chested female protagonists is what really bothers me though, that's all we've gotten for the last decade. It feels so gross and pedophilic, worldwide AVERAGE bra size is D, but AAA devs act like a B cup is curvy and unrealistic, it's gross. Why are women supposed to feel "empowered" by having their most visually obvious trait cut off (MKX, Lara Croft, Tifa Lockheart)? As if a male character would be more empowering with his dick lopped off.
As to the next two replies, they're so over the top ignorant and hostile "manboy?" I can't read them as anything other than poe's law. "Jason Litzau" hit every stereotype there is. "One game out of a million"? This is every game from a western dev in the last decade. They all push out tough unfeminine action chicks with flat chests when there's stacks of research to show bustier characters would actually appeal to a female demographic far more. The fact that you think having standards and tastes and not just being a yes man for women would prevent you from getting laid suggests you never have. And MicShazam, the problem isn't "women existing" the problem is the way they're presented not being realistic at all. The last two girls I dated had DDD and H cups respectively, both completely natural. Flat chests are far less common and often dip straight into pedo territory. I didn't even say anything about sexualization (although since it was brought up, have a look at the cosplay community if you seriously think it's bad or women don't like it) just that they look normal. D is average, AVERAGE. Ever heard of Umihara Kawase? That's what most girls look like, THAT would be realistic. Busty, but not overtly sexualized.
Tomb Raider specifically shrunk Lara Croft's chest, specifically at the behest of Rihanna Pratchett who also insisted her accent needed to sound "more multi-cultural" it killed the series and it's pretty disgusting the decision would be made at all. A similarly thing happened to Vampirella, Dejah Thoris and Red Sonja again leading to all three getting cancelled due to low sales. I could name countless other examples in the comics industry or the video game industry, but let's go back to Lara Croft. They're making a new Tomb Raider movie, go ahead and google the star: Alicia Vikkander. Flat as a pancake. Cortana's hardly "curvy" she just slightly below average. Mortal Kombat X similarly shrunk the busts of it's entire female cast claiming it did this for "realism" you know, in the game about super natural fighters from another dimension killing people with hooks and freezing spells. Bioshock Infinite got complaints for Elizabeth's cleavage despite her model having a B cup at best. I could seriously sit here for hours and cite examples like this. A French studio redesigned the valkyrie in the last attempt at Gauntlet to be flat-chested and scarred under heavy armor to the point that in-game the model doesn't look female at all, and claimed this was due to "realism" as it just didn't make sense to go into battle without heavy armor on, the problem? The Barbarian remained hyper-muscular and in nothing but a loin cloth. Even in cases where a Japanese game gives players the option to control these things, western devs then take it away. In the release of Xenoblade there was originally a boobslider that allowed you to among other things alter the busts of the female cast from flat to bust at your whim, in the western release the slider was inexplicably taken out and the female characters left at a standard, moderate-sized bust.
Rich doesn't know how to use a thumb stick and is way too lazy to learn. its all about developing your thumbs twitch reflex. your suppose to flick it and not carefully aim with it the ways its done with a mouse. I can use both just as good, but i agree the mouse is preferable. You can get surprisingly good at it. When i watch Rich play fps with a mouse like doom, I notice he is not that good at it even though he preaches about mouse accuracy all the time. i find it amusing that Im way better at aiming with a thumb stick then he is with a mouse. long story short, dont be lazy n GET GOOD!
TheARAMBOMB He's also in his 30s and has been a primarily PC gamer for his entire life. It's not easy to learn to use a gamepad effectively for aiming in general, let alone switching from M&K after years of using the latter.
gnarkillguch Excuses excuses. Im almost the same age as he is and been a pc gamer for most of my life as well. iv only started using a game pad since the xbox360 came out. its not hard to learn, he seems to just make excuses and has never put in the effort to adapt to something different.
Bollocks Gnarkillguch. I have done it. You just have to adapt and learn. I have no sympathy for someone complaining about control methods when it takes barely a week to learn the fundamentals to any of them.
the only thing about the dragon's dogma reference is that all the boss enemies had very specific spawn areas. you could farm any boss by putting a warp stone right by its spawn and going to sleep for 3 days.
Rich needs to try to put extensions on the analogue sticks. It makes it easier to aim. Plus I also got the Brooke converter so that I can play PS4 with a Xbox One/360 controller, which is better than the PS4 controller.
really liked this game...the story and concept , the mix of tech and rudimentary tech of tribal life...it was really great for me. The combat was excellent too except the bandit camps "raids" the gfx on the normal ps4 were so incredible it made me take screenshots all over the place
"A staff that could almost be called a sword"
Think the kids are calling that a "spear" these days.
I wish I could like your comment more than once.
That comment made my day.
The "spear" in the game is more like a glaive.
It doesn't really function like a spear at all though.
Never seen someone slash people with a spear before
Sitting on a couch, talking in shot reverse shot...
Hacks!
would've been tons better if they were walking through a cgi corridor
Or talking at length about a trade embargo.
That's in Space Cop, of course
There is not a single straight reverse shot. A reverse shot would have the other person's back in the shot, like in soap-operas.
Fucking gold.
NOW RICH CAN FINALLY PLAY THIS GAME WITH A MOUSE,
but we'll never hear about it.. T_T
I know I'm pretty off topic but do anybody know a good place to watch new series online ?
@Kyng Joe i dunno try flixportal. Just search on google after it :P -brooks
@Brooks Charlie thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I appreciate it !
@Kyng Joe Happy to help =)
But you never see it discussed by other people on the internet... :D
"zero dawn sounds like a military thing" well...um I don't want to spoil anything but...
I wish you could fight Fuckbot5000 in Horizon Zero Dawn

That'll be in the .00000001% chance $10 loot-boxes that they'll try to sneak into the sequel.
By far Jack's best uncredited role.
Never heard someone say "That's neat." quite so aggresive as Rich did.

I love this channel. It's like the Red Letter Media of video games.
Rich "And-People-Wonder-Why-I-Hate-RPGs" Evans loves dialogue trees because they give you a voice within the story.

That's that famous RLM production value.
Flesh Sandwich Well their hard work didn't go to waste since you noticed :D
Well, you can't expect Rich to take his hat off or anything.
Love the new setup, feels really comfy with all the movies everywhere

And actual people who made the beautiful vistas.
Horizon is a real breath of fresh air in this day and age. You climb towers to reveal territory, hide in tall grass, collect an infinite amount of crafting materials and sneak around while taking out patrols with your bow. Never done that in a video game before!
Hey! that's sarcasm!
I clapped because I know sarcasm!
I clapped because I know things!
To be fair, those robot dinosaurs they added are kind of a big deal.
B-b-butts Butts can't argue against any of that, but i would say it's the prettiest, most fun version of all those tropes
That's a great analogy!

This made me want to play this game! Should have gone the PS4 route back in the day :(. Great review keep up the great work! That Nukie collection is looking great!
what the hell.......how many copies of "nukie" do you have?
Gus Of the Six Sided Dorks
They only need a few more before the plan is ready.
Gus Of the Six Sided Dorks
you must be new here...
Gus Of the Six Sided Dorks Not enough
Gus Of the Six Sided Dorks Not enough
Good review guys! Aso liking the "new" setup. I really like these kind of discussions/reviews, should do more of them.
Horizon Zero Dawn of AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDS!
I would say it was like you wanted that shack-meat!
BigJman123456 Horizon Zero Dawn of the Planet if the AAAAIIIIIDDDDDSSSSS!
nice TMBG shirt Jack! also, great video, as always!
Will they ever play Witcher 3?
They've mentioned it, and the classic problem of "not wanting to start on the third game", sadly, that doesn't really matter at all. Witcher 3 is that fucking good, you don't need to play 1 and 2 at all.
The first Witcher game I played was the third one and I don't feel like I missed out. Lots of lore and adequate storytelling
Most likely NO
residualmac no it is not lol the main story in the witcher 3 is about 25 hours if you use fast travel
Too many cutscenes.
@6:57 I thought they cut in Tomb Raider footage as a joke.
Have you played Mass Effect "what's wrong with your face?" Andromeda?
~21:00 - Can't you use the touchpad in the PS4 controller for that? I don't know because I have not played that, but... it's... kinda... like... It should be used for that..?
If Guerrilla didn't put precision aiming there, then it's a complete oversight on their part. Cuz, I mean, it's _there_.
I just wanna namedrop the "Monster Hunter" series.
@previously recorded what are your thoughts on Witcher 3
Excellent review, lads. You've really come into your own. Just as good as Half in the Bag.
Mr Robot that's just mean
I remember when HitB watched half of Logan for their review.
Really digging this new couch set up. So comfy.
We can keep dreaming of that superior PC release. This is a first party Sony AAA game that aims to sell consoles.
Jesus Pedrosa Just like bloodborne. They're just fucking themselves out of pc revenue
+Jesus Just play The Witcher 3, its a better game in every possible way.
When rich said "The Metal Age" I thought " retro thief series review or we riot"
i like the new setup
I miss these broadcasts
I dont know where they would have put it, but they really needed a back light for this episode.
Does anyone know what brand Rich's hiking boots are? They are very sharp and fashionable.
Rich complains about Jack's "uncompromising" on story details, yet is uncompromising on mouse controls... ;)
That's because mouse aim is objectively the superior way to aim. Story stuff is far more complicated
"That's because mouse aim is objectively the superior way to aim"
In my opinion there are two things with mouse-aim that i don't like.
Good news past Rich! We get a pc port soon hurray! Can't wait to try it for the first time :)
Be sure to review Nier: Automata and Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The whole review for Nier will be the word Butt on screen for 30 minutes.
Brandon Dozier Also Persona 5 and Mass Effect: Andromeda please, though I guess that would be quite ambitious to do if you want to go in depth...
+Nash J. when is persona 5 going to be released?
LeGOAT James April 4th, 2017
I like the way you think.
Damn, that beautiful "Nukie" collection just keeps growing!
I'm with you about the aiming controls, Rich.
J
This has probably been talked about but that is a Rich Evans (or Mike) action figure/plush toy on shelf right.
Lol, Rich would be happy with aiming now, since the game is coming to PC :)
HOLY SHIT. Look at all those Nukie tapes!
Never clicked something so quickly in my life
8:44 SOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo...youre saying there is no mouse & keyboard adaption to other consoles. LIKE PS4 OR msGREENBOX ? [OPEN QUESTION ]
WHERE'S THE ZELDA REVIEW YOU FRAUDS!!!
what are you, 10 years old? nintendo hasn't been relevant since the gamecube
You clearly are not a gamer, sir.
Nintendo has stayed very relevant with portables.
Caligula you might as well just leave, honestly. All respect the community had for you is completely out the window
***** Yeah let's hope. This game has a ton of depth and it doesn't spoonfeed it to you, which means loads of players might miss it.
(19:20) better solution would be to have the voice line trigger on the second or third time passing by objects of interest.
Once again, Jack loves the game and Rich has to act too good for it.
It makes me laugh that Rich thinks he can act too good for something. He'll be alone forever.
I NEED that outro music in my life now. Anyone have the title?
Clear out bandit camps which have alarms that can call in reinforcements
Climb towers to reveal areas of the map
Dumbed down, tedious crafting system
Pointless collectables
Bad storytelling
Hmmm Reminds me of every Ubi$oft game ever
I know right. I feel fucking insane reading the majority of reviews for this thing.
LateNightGaming - Halo News & Entertainment Rayman?
Hey LNG. Didn't expect to see you here. Do you watch the regular RLM stuff too?
how did breath of the wild get it so right though, god damn. I was straight up worried, but they've nailed it.
LateNightGaming - Halo News & Entertainment keyword "HALO NEWS"
Love this game so far. It takes the often boring "open world" genre and makes it interesting. Borrowing from all over the place from other games and puts it togheter beautifully.
The battles with some of the machines are nothing but pure awesomness and I can't stress enough that the battles gets more depth if one skips the dumb mode normal and pushes at least one step above.
Its a breath of fresh air among AAA titles.
Also the story in this game is really cool so far as I played. Having me invested enough to keep on playing so I can find out what is going to be unraveled.
Aside from robot animals and dinosaurs this game does nothing new at all
How about the combat? I wait with baited breath for you to tell me a game that has even vaguely similar combat. And from your answer/s I will be able to determine whether you have played the game or not.
Punished Captain Frog Aside from climbing and breakable weapons BotW does nothing new at all... see, I can do it too. ;)
Missed the plot, I guess.
EVERY human died. All of them.
It's weird...Like I started out this game defending her because people were judging her an hour in the game; but now I just she's such a bad character, she contridicts herself constantly and now I see why so many say this game has bad writing, it's depressing cause I had high hopes for aloy and her game...sigh
The dialouge trees don't even effect the story at all, the guy who you throw a rock at states he'll "pay you back" equally and dies super early so the concequence means nothing.
That dude with the hammer helps her multiple times.
etc etc
and everyone is good at killing the machines cause vala's brother and mother take one down with two arrows saving aloy, you have to know how to deal with these things to *survive* in this world!
"You helped me...and you want to speak with me? an outcast?"
"We don't follow the customs of your tribe, you're a hunter to us."
And forging these bonds beyond maybe protecting one town and avenging vala by stoping some killers would feel more substancial and make it seem like they'd fight for aloy if they didn't act like they were devoid of all personality expect for one emotion Aloy: Always sarcastic tone, Vala's mother: Angry black chick (that's such a waste) and her son: Stoic dutiful guy.
(funny how we never learn who the dad is.)
You did play the entire game, right?
Alot of her stuff is also for revenge fights and kills guy in red headdress not to help but "You should of killed me yourself."
Regardless this is the game we got; I am glad you agree, I think they were so focused on the open world and gameplay (which is very solid) that they glossed over characterization, character growth, interactions and so on, and this is why I'm so disappointed.
To answer that question would require MAJOR spoilers:
She doesn't have a father, (or a mother, for that matter) because she's a clone of Elisabet Sobeck. No sperm, and with the right technology, no egg required. So if you want to get technical, her genetic mother and father are Sobeck's mother and father.
Guys PLEASE - can you play Earth defence force 4.1 ?
Agree with Rich. Controller aiming sucks.
Breaking new grounds with that opinion.
Aiming with a mouse in third person? Disgusting.
Does the controller suck, or do you?
The controller
I mean I don't think anyone could argue that m+k controls give you less precision than a gamepad. How frustrating it might get depends on how much experience you have with gamepads. I primarily play on PC and I'm not having too many problems with the controls, even with the auto-aim off.
Really though, it's a moot point since Sony has an iron grip on the game so it'll unfortunately never come to PC.
jack looks like caillou
This isn't my Zelda Breath of the Wild review!
Lavidon
They need to have a Switch console that doesn't malfunction first.
me, personally, i loved this review
Jack is completely right about story in games.
Is that a miniature Rich Evans action figure to Rich's left at 0:00?
stop replying, I'm not interesting and neither are you
It's one of the easiest and lamest jokes to make, even I made that joke way back when that game was announced. I sure as hell wouldn't brag about it.
what
KANEDA!
8Ampoliros wow, never heard that one before
+Corncob Johnson real and you will hear it tons more as long as you have that avatar image.
I had Zero interest in this game honestly.
chain872005 I saw what you have done in this comment.
chain872005
That's a Horizon I have yet to cross.
chain872005 Hmmm, that thought never dawned on me.
What a dawner.
I'm one of those PC master race people. I bought a ps4 just to play HZD and I honestly do not regret it. So good.
5:32 That fucker Rich Evans does it again...those eyes....those fucking eyes when you pause it at the right moment....
I'm skeptical of Horizon. It just looks like another generic sandbox game.
Except in Sandbox games there's a certain level of world interaction.
I tried beating up civilians and cutting down trees but nothing reacted to me.
There's nothing generic about it. Perhaps play it before spouting nonsense. It's also an RPG, not a sandbox.
It's actually great
Flavors of Metal Gear and Shadow of the Colossus with a fantastic world
I like Jack's shoes, anyone knows their name? Or brand
Oh look, another video game with a flat chested action chick protagonist, where everyone has an SJW haircut and is multicultural, and there's a dead/kidnapped father figure.
It's like it was tailor-made to guarantee I will never fucking buy it.
I'm not sure how most of those are problems. I think a bigger turn off would be how the game is cobbled together out of overdone AAA tropes.
I live in San Francisco/Canada, and this is my perception of how minorities would dress/act."
The obsession with flat chested female protagonists is what really bothers me though, that's all we've gotten for the last decade.
Tomb Raider specifically shrunk Lara Croft's chest, specifically at the behest of Rihanna Pratchett who also insisted her accent needed to sound "more multi-cultural" it killed the series and it's pretty disgusting
the decision would be made at all.
I think you've been watching too many youtube videos. I didn't get that at all. I suppose it is the advantage of not being told what I think.
Does the robot devil offer to trade hands with the character?
TheARAMBOMB
He's also in his 30s and has been a primarily PC gamer for his entire life.
I see you guys still have the Star Wars Rey figurine from the Sony Swag Bag, or box, or crate thing.
Hey, fellas, how many more copies of Nukie do you need?
the only thing about the dragon's dogma reference is that all the boss enemies had very specific spawn areas. you could farm any boss by putting a warp stone right by its spawn and going to sleep for 3 days.
Where can I get Jack's shoes?
@ Rich evens , have you tried an Xim4
what happened to those sweet backgrounds you had?
Rich needs to try to put extensions on the analogue sticks. It makes it easier to aim. Plus I also got the Brooke converter so that I can play PS4 with a Xbox One/360 controller, which is better than the PS4 controller.
Great synth music at the end!
Jack in every Pre Rec review: "Ew, cutscene, where's my control! Show, don't tell! Screw cutscenes! Wah!!!!!"
And same with Rich for mouses and how it isn't Doom
But they're both still sexy bastards
I don't know how I went this long never watching this channel being a huge RLM fan.
What is it with all those copies of Nukie in the back?
Your choice of jeans and socks was awesome Rich.
Whoa, the Nukie collection has grown considerably!
really liked this game...the story and concept , the mix of tech and rudimentary tech of tribal life...it was really great for me. The combat was excellent too except the bandit camps "raids"
the gfx on the normal ps4 were so incredible it made me take screenshots all over the place
