I've always felt that Hagrid had no right to not give Harry to Sirius. I mean it went against Dumbledors "orders" but Sirius was his legal guardian. So he kind of kidnapped Harry just so Dumbledore could start his masterplan stuff.
PoA is definitely my favourite, I love the way they mature (especially Harry and his sassyness) but are still quite innocent plus Sirius black's dramatic ass shit
My favourite part of the book was Harry finding out that he was the one that cast the patronus charm. In the movie, they never mention that James was an animagus. So that whole plot point about him being Prongs is lost. I cried at that scene because we find out that Harry's patronus is a stag. It's like his father is always there to protect him. When I realized that, it made me so happy. I'm a huge cry baby when it comes to books. This seires really means a lot to me.
One thing that has forever haunted me since I first read Year 3 back on 2010 was what Hermione went through on this year. I always will believe it was because I knew about Pettigrew, but in this book Harry and Ron, especially Ron, were AWFUL to Hermione. I hated them so much, how they treated her. I understand Ron was grieving his rat, and that Hermione could be apologizing but seriously. This is one of Hermione's hardest years, she had the Time-Turner taking so many classes, and her best friends were not speaking to her for a majority of the book. I was so hurt. First, it was the Firebolt thing, and I understand their reactions but Ron's attitude, I was so upset at Ron's attitude towards Hermione, and I mean she was right and by gods Harry... You had so much bad luck in Quidditch (the bewitched Nimbus 2000 and the bewitched Bludger) and you still think "Ah this Firebolt is perfectly safe. Ahhh!!! And then she was still helping Hagrid with Buckbeak and when they finally might have made up the Scabbers thing happened, which (again) I understand, but again Ron's attitude, while more understandable, was so horrible! Like I can't. This book is one of the reasons I don't ship Romione like many people, oh and Year 6 is even worse! Ahhhhhh!!!! (sorry I also have a lot of feelings for this book, and you address almost everything about this book I also address, but this, as I said, has haunted me for 7 years and everytime I reread this book I can't... I just can't... Poor Hermione)
Maria R Haq YES LMAO he should have gotten an owl from the ministry XD then again, he didn't get in trouble for blowing up aunt Marge so maybe they didn't count that as well??
It wasn't magical enough to give him a flashlight like in the book :) That said. How "Lumos" is portrayed in that opening scene annoys me just as much as it is supposed to keep the light on until you turn it off with "knox". Otherwise what is the point of "knox" in the first place?
All of the Mauraders are bae! REMUS LUPIN is my baby😭😭😭😭 I just can't when I reread his scenes. I get so emotional. Serius is such a Drama Queen😂😂😂 but I love it! Just imagine his melodramatic ass at Hogwarts with James, Remus, and Peter. Lord, poor Professor McGonagall😂😂😂 my respect for her is endless. I bet Petter was such a sweet boy back at Hogwarts. Yeah, yeah, he became a dick in the end. However, Im sure he was a good friend to the others. It's sad to think how he had to become this way.
Harris is such an underrated character! His is the biggest cinnamon roll to ever exist in literature and he deserves a happy life. This book in the series was filled with the most iconic scenes ever.
If harry had grown up with Sirius rather than the Dursleys he wouldn't have had the protection charm that his Mum put on him by sacrificing himself. Dumbledore says later in the series that the charm would only work if he had a home with someone who was blood related to Lilly.
i love it so so so so much!! i especially loved how in this book it’s the first time harry really encounters people who knew his father. also loved how dementors represented depression and how harry fought so hard to battle them
Im loving your Harry Potter reviews! im 32 yrs old and experiencing these for the first time ever! this one is my favorite so far and i can't wait to start "Goblet Of Fire".. Thank for your analysis! :)
Great review! I love the comment about the shrieking shack! Also if Harry would have grown up with Sirius we would have had a complelty different story....interesting!
I loved the review and the things you picked up! I also get super worked up about how harry could've finally left the dursley's and lived with Sirius!! like every time I read PoA I'm like no no pettigrew cannot escape noooo! also one thing I have always wondered is how Fred and George never saw peter on the marauder's map?? like he was literally always with Ron and they would've at some point looked at what their little brother was upto and seen this peter person that they never saw hanging around with Ron??
YES SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS omg girl u just exposed that plot hole!!! the only explaination i can think of is they don't know who peter is and they thought he was just another student??
I'm re-reading HP for the third time and I'm kind of stuck on Goblet of Fire but your reviews motivate me because I want to be finished with the book before you post the next review, so thank you😁❤️
When you said if Sirius would've taken Harry in (i get his life might become better and less hell-like) i think Harry might get more endangered because the blood of her mother Lily still goes on to Petunia and in orther to fulfill that magical charm surrounding Harry he needs to be with his mother's last blood relative (Petunia) to fulfill the protection and to not let You-Know-Who get to Harry (until Goblet of Fire)
I was really enjoying this review, but one thing was on my mind the whole time... What camera and settings you use? This video is so beautiful and high quality. You really make Booktube bigger and more important day after day! Hugs from Hungary! :))
Definitely Prisioner of Azkaban is my fav hp so far along with The order of the Phoenix which is the last one I read since I'm reading hp for the very first time! (I'm a huge fan of the movies lol). So I'm very thankful for your book reviews Emma
if harry has lived a tragic life, i think sirius has led an even more tragic life. he was seen as a criminal, suffered alone. His only happiness was harry and the thought of living with him (same goes for harry) and finally when things started to look up, he was killed. Im still mad that none of the marauders survived
Thank you for being so consistent Emma. You really put out so much content- especially when you don't have too- and I appreciate it a lot. Sirius is extra af. Like seriously I remember watching the movie (I watched it before reading) and being so spun that Sirius was good 😂
Malfoy disrupted the first CoMC class, but the skrewts were a problem of Hagrid's own making. What was he thinking? Actually Harry eavesdropped on Fudge and the rest on his FIRST Hogsmeade visit and he was hiding under the table... seriously, how can you forget details like this? Lupin is the teacher we see in the series who I'd most want teaching my nephews and nieces. Remember they did learn stuff from Barty/Moody too - about curses bad wizards chuck around. Fitting it should have been a Death Eater in disguise who taught them about bad wizard stuff, and a werewolf who taught them 'dark creatures' stuff. Fanfictions are a good medium for different perspectives on the series. I never understood how anyone could take stuff in the movie as canon. I have no trouble distinguishing between them. Do most viewers live in a blur? JKR herself got them confused, with the later series reporting Hermione "punching" Draco later in the book series rather than slapping him like she actually did in PoA. You vividly remember reading Prisoner of Azkaban, but cannot remember how many Hogsmeade visits Harry made? Dumbledore must have known about Norbert, but didn't do anything about it.
Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite Harry Potter book not just bcs there is so much about Quidditch and Patronuses, there is Remus and Sirius reunion, Marauders insulting Snape (which is like one of my favourite parts bcs i love Marauders and rlly want to know more about them) and there is that part where i imagine how everything would be different if they caught Peter
Okay crazy thought but maybe Charlie's friends knew of the secret passageway through the Shrieking Shack? And that's how they got in but of course they had to be on broomsticks because teachers would've found out if they had gone into the castle
Yeah another book review!!! Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban is definitely my favorite. I love so much. It is definitely my favorite. I forgot to tell you, my grandmother finished City Of Heavenly Fire and she loved it so much. It's her favorite in the series. I had therapy today and me and my therapist we're talking about Cassie Clare and all her books. My therapist has only read the first three and never continue it. I kinda her spoiled her for the infernal devices but she didn't have a problem with it. She was just so excited to see me happy. 😁😁😁
Dean offered to forge Vernon's signature for Harry's permission slip, but Harry had already told McGonagall that it wasn't signed, when he tried to convince McGonagall to sign it.
I'm rewatching all of your reviews since I'm rereading the series (yet again lol) and I noticed something in the book worth mentioning. How do the students know when the portrait hole password has changed? Are they informed by McGonagall? The prefect? It doesn't make sense because the person in the picture (either sir cadogan or the fat lady since both were in there) can't just give it awat when it's changed. So can only McGonagall be present, or only the Gryffindor students? There are so many students though, some Slytherins, Ravenclaws, or Hufflepuffs could be passing or nearby in earshot. They could overhear it!! It's not a big deal but I need answers
Can we just appreciate how caring Sirius is to give Harry not only the best broom at the time AND give his best friend something him and his family desperateley needs? A new tiny owl!!! Poor Errol.. xD
emmmabooks you keep apologizing for ranting but that is actually my favorite parts. I could watch a 20+ minute video of you discussing the scenario with Hagrid and Norbert😂
It always confused me why nobody was able to enter the Shrieking Shack, just because the "door is locked". Sure, it was designed to only be enterable from the Whoomping Willow tunnel, but like, it was still a building with a front door, surely somebody would have figured ot a way to break into it. Furthermore, why even keep the Whoomping Willow after Lupin graduated from Hogwarts. Come on, it's a very dangerous tree, and there aren't even any safety barriers around it, Dumbledor never mentions it dueing the Opening Fiest. Anybody can just walk up to the tree without knowing what it is and get injured, or even killed,
I love Prisoner of Azkaban sooooo much Sirius Black is my favorite character I find him so amazing he just wants to care for Harry and this book is just soo dark and good❤️
I JUST FINISHED IT AND MY GOD! It was sooo good and I love Sirius and buckbeak and Hermione slapping Draco 🥰🥰 our girllll yes. *SPOILERS* I hated scabbers who is now peter whatever 🙄🙄 and I CANT BELIEVE THAT HAPPENED. And dementors were like “ughh leave Harry alone” and I loved dumbledore saying how Harry saw his dad in himself 😍😍 SNAPE CAN CHOKE AND THAT IS ALL.
Also, at the end, when Snape is furious, in my head, I couldn't help imagining him (aka Alan Rickman, because, let's be real, he is the perfect Snape) SCREECHING everything in a very high-pitched voice and idk why but somehow it made the ending even better😂
Where did you buy your fairy lights :) ? I love what you did with them and the pictures. PoA is also one of my favorite books in the series. Along with the last two!
i started tearing up when you talked about remus lupin. like he was such a good person and it's so sad that many people hated him because of his condition.
Prisoner of Azkaban it`s so special to me. But there is one moment in the movie that really bothers me - it starts with Harry who uses lumos spell at Dursley`s house (it's obvious that he is not allowed and makes such a drama for using a spell in book №2 and 5). Oh god I have to reread it! (such a bad English I know...)
someone also commented on that! i think because he also didn't get in trouble for blowing up aunt marge, maybe they were letting that spell go too? i definitely agree it doesn't make sense!
HAGRID DESERVES BETTER, honestly he gets zero recognition from the fandom for literally ALWAYS being there for Harry and the crew! He only wants the best for everybody! Every student especially the young and inexperienced ones as well as all the animals wellness and happiness is what he wants! Despite not really loving himself, despite always feeling like he isn't good enough which Draco likes to point out, he continues being himself, to share his love of magical creatures and improve many students but especially HARYY's life! So why does an abusive old man, that instead of taking care of baby Harry hugged harry's dead mother, tormented him and many others throughout the school years like Neville was treated so unjustly. How does Snape for saying "Always" which kind of implies that he still thought he had the "right" to Lily and never accepted HER choice, get more love and "aw Harry's father figure" than Hagrid? It feels like the cake Hagrid baked gets more recognition than Hagrid ffs. Also the whole with not forging the slip? Why did you not do that nobody would actually know his aunt and uncle's signatures as they never even accepted him going there in the first place. Also first years are allowed to stroll the forbidden forest with almost no supervision at all but god forbid a candy shop!? I love these reviews oh and I get the reason behind why Harry saves himself and all but I think I was around 8 watching the movie for the first time and I didn't want it to be Harry, was so disappointed xD
I was freaked out about the demendors the first time I saw them in the movie:D TBH, I never thought about that Harry could forge the permission slip:D And I really need to reread HP!^^
It feels like a shriek coming...si ouch. We're humans the muddles I can re.ber from the two which was the good kind of wizard. Feels like a book coming out.
The Part in the Book where i had to laugh so hard even cry because of it being so funny was when Harry took his exams at the end of the year and performed a cheering charm ,but he overdid it and ron who was his partner had be led out of the room because he was cheering so hard and clenching his fits into the air😂ich laugh every time i thing of a situation like that
Thank you for the permission slip thing OMG. They legit go into the *forbidden* forest on multiple occasions but they need permission from home to go get a freaking butterbeer?? I'm sorry, what??
Hey! I just watched ur 'which order to read the shadow hunter books in' video and I'm still really confused:( which way do u think is the best and how did u read it? Please answer😔
i would recommend 1-3 of TMI 1-3 of TID 4-6 of TMI and then following publication order for the rest, just because I think it's nice to feel like you are marathoning a series :) i read 1-5 of tmi 1-3 of TID and THEN TMI #6 because it wasn't out yet, but i wouldn't recommend stopping right before the last book XD
TURN TO PAGE 394!!!
ICONIC
LOL YASSS!
I've always felt that Hagrid had no right to not give Harry to Sirius. I mean it went against Dumbledors "orders" but Sirius was his legal guardian. So he kind of kidnapped Harry just so Dumbledore could start his masterplan stuff.
i definitely understand your feelings!
So in conclusion Harry Potter is sassy lil shit and Sirius Black is the most fabulous but unnecessary Drama Queen on the planet
Olivia Siggers Harry Potter in a nutshell XD
PoA is definitely my favourite, I love the way they mature (especially Harry and his sassyness) but are still quite innocent plus Sirius black's dramatic ass shit
i totally agree!!!
My favourite booktuber and my favourite HP book this is heaven!
"if you think of things from lupin's perspective like the very first moment harry and lupin meet" wow emma wants me dEAD
IM SORRY PEOPLE JUST NEED TO KNOW
How is the most haunted building not Hogwarts itself 😂
Olivia Siggers Hogwarts is really "huanted"
you said hogsmeade and hogwarts are located in England. but is it not in scotland ? @@emmmabooks
ya i noticed that but was to lazy to edit my comment, please dont judge me :D@Jsin
LOL sooooo truuuuuuuuuue
Tbh Hagrid is such a special snowflake and I love him so much 😍 It makes me kind of angry how under appreciated he is!
i adore him!!!
My favourite part of the book was Harry finding out that he was the one that cast the patronus charm. In the movie, they never mention that James was an animagus. Maria R Haq #agree
Who feels happy while reading a hp book
Lupin was the best teacher
Maria R Haq I definitely agree!

agh i always hate the ron/hermione/harry tensions :((((((( i totally totally agree with you!!
I didn't understand why Harry is doing magic in the opening scene of the prisoner of azkaban movie
Maria R Haq YES LMAO he should have gotten an owl from the ministry XD then again, he didn't get in trouble for blowing up aunt Marge so maybe they didn't count that as well??
Film director didn't care.
It wasn't magical enough to give him a flashlight like in the book :)

Ugggh. Lupin. Do you enjoy making me cry?!?

"SHOTS FIRED!" Lol! You are so great! I just love your videos and they help me so much with my book club discussion topics :-)
I love your videos and your outfits are cool!
thank you
Great review. POA is probably within my top 3 HP books. I prefer the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th. Only odd numbers, it seems. :)
hahah that's very interesting!
I came back here to say that dementors remind me of the first time the silent brothers were mentioned in City Of Bones
Hey Emma, have you gotta your owlcrate yet? I just got my today!! 📚
hoping to film soon!!!!
Emma i'm living for the song at the end i always jam out to it 😂
so happy you like :)
This book is such a standalone from the others which I love because it's so memorable even though it isn't my favourite!

It feels like a shriek coming...si ouch. We're humans the muddles I can re.ber from the two which was the good kind of wizard. Feels like a book coming out.
The Part in the Book where i had to laugh so hard even cry because of it being so funny was when Harry took his exams at the end of the year and performed a cheering charm ,but he overdid it and ron who was his partner had be led out of the room because he was cheering so hard and clenching his fits into the air😂ich laugh every time i thing of a situation like that

i would recommend 1-3 of TMI 1-3 of TID 4-6 of TMI and then following publication order for the rest, just because I think it's nice to feel like you are marathoning a series :)
i read 1-5 of tmi 1-3 of TID and THEN TMI #6 because it wasn't out yet, but i wouldn't recommend stopping right before the last book XD
